- Chapter 30.2 - Itching Tail, A-Lan, Pat Me
Yu Xuanji curled her lips in satisfaction, her voice suggestive and alluring. “Actually, I am itchy too. A-Lan, can you help me soothe it?”
An Zhi and Ting Lan were bending over to plant seedlings in the rice field. As they worked, they looked up to see the once endless clear sky suddenly filled with rolling dark clouds and howling winds that blew their straw hats into the air.
An Zhi pointed angrily at the dark clouds. “Why is it raining again! If this keeps up, the Barren Lands will have to be renamed the Pacific Ocean!”
Ting Lan grabbed her and ran. “Stop talking nonsense. Get back with me before you turn into a pile of mud.”
A torrential downpour hit with the speed of a thunderbolt. An Zhi and Ting Lan returned to the cave just before they were soaked. They shook the mud off their feet, only to smell a strong, exotic fragrance coming from the depths of the cave.
An Zhi frowned. “Ting Lan, do you smell a very strong fragrance?”
Ting Lan nodded. “I smell it. What is that? It’s so fragrant.”
An Zhi shook her head dizzily. “Ting Lan, is this incense? My… my head… so dizzy…”
With a thud, An Zhi fell to the ground unconscious. Ting Lan reached out a hand toward her but slowly slid to the ground as well, falling into a heavy sleep.
Inside the hot spring pool, Cang Lan’s tail slapped the water, creating bursts of steamy waves.
Yu Xuanji sat above her tail, her white, rounded shoulders rising and falling, her neck resting softly on Cang Lan’s shoulder. “A-Lan, pat me.”
Cang Lan was dazed. “Pat… pat where? With what?”
Yu Xuanji took a bite of Cang Lan’s shoulder and said intermittently, “In front… the tail… use your tail.”
Water splashed everywhere as layers of snowy white waves rose in the hot spring pool.
Yu Xuanji lay motionless on Cang Lan’s shoulder, held aloft as they emerged from the water and reached the shore.
Yu Xuanji lay on a soft animal skin rug, the water on her body pressing into damp depressions.
Cang Lan transformed into her dragon form and leaped out of the water, coiling tightly around Yu Xuanji. Her soft tongue continuously licked the water droplets from Yu Xuanji’s hair, and the constant heat from her body slowly dried the water on her skin.
Being held like this by Cang Lan, Yu Xuanji fell into a deep sleep after a short while. Cang Lan knew her dragon saliva had a sedative effect—it could both arouse and soothe, and it could even promote rapid healing of wounds. It was truly miraculous.
Hmph, she was a treasure from head to toe; how could Yu Xuanji not love her? She must love her to death.
On the way back to the bedroom with Yu Xuanji in her arms, Cang Lan happened to see An Zhi and Ting Lan slowly getting up from the ground. She held Yu Xuanji even tighter and used the rug to cover Yu Xuanji’s face before turning away.
From Ting Lan’s angle, she could just see Yu Xuanji’s exposed white arm and her softly drooping hand.
An Zhi and Ting Lan looked at the scene in astonishment. After meeting each other’s eyes, they seemed to understand where that exotic fragrance had come from.
Warned by a fierce look from Cang Lan, An Zhi and Ting Lan looked at each other and ran away.
Outside, the rain had stopped and the sun was out. They returned to the rice field to finish planting the remaining seedlings.
An Zhi, being a chatterbox, couldn’t help but say, “Look at how that dragon has tormented the Master, she can’t even walk. Who knows how much the Master has suffered during the days we were away.”
Ting Lan planted a seedling and said, “This has nothing to do with us. As long as the Master likes it. She has been celibate for so many years; now that she’s finally caught someone, shouldn’t she enjoy some earthly pleasures?”
An Zhi leaned in slowly, unable to imagine what kind of “pleasure” it was, and said boldly, “Ting Lan, do you think doing that kind of thing feels very good?”
Ting Lan’s face flushed for a moment. “I suppose so.”
An Zhi gave a sly smile. “In that case, should the two of us try it too? It should be very comfortable, right?”
Ting Lan looked at her in shock, speechless. “You… what nonsense are you talking?”
An Zhi said with a grin, “Anyway, we are both women, so we won’t get pregnant. Just think of it as helping each other out.”
Hearing this, Ting Lan actually thought about it seriously for a moment. Then she grabbed a handful of mud and smeared it on An Zhi’s face. “Dream on.”
Cang Lan carried Yu Xuanji back to the bedroom, placing her gently in the middle of the bed and covering her with a quilt.
Yu Xuanji’s brow was relaxed, her cheeks tinged with a faint pink, and her lips were a light rose color. Compared to when she was first picked up, her complexion looked much better.
Who would have thought that being with her and doing those things could restore youth and make one’s appearance even more beautiful and radiant.
Cang Lan thought that in the future, Yu Xuanji wouldn’t need to take Dragon Blood Pills anymore; she would only need to mate with her day and night.
At this thought, Cang Lan’s face turned red again with extreme shyness. She pulled the sleeping Yu Xuanji out from under the quilt and held her, rubbing against her for a long time before letting go.
Cang Lan left Yu Xuanji’s side, intending to go to the Old Phoenix’s house to find Lu Xuan and ask for a recipe to cook something to nourish Yu Xuanji’s body.
Just as she turned, Yu Xuanji gripped her wrist tightly. Thinking she was awake and wanted more, Cang Lan turned around shyly, ready to kiss her.
However, Yu Xuanji’s brow was furrowed tight, her teeth biting her lip, and her fingernails were digging deep into the flesh of Cang Lan’s arm.
Cang Lan felt a sting of pain. Thinking Yu Xuanji was caught in a nightmare, she prepared to take out a Dragon Blood Pill to let her eat it and calm her mind.
Yu Xuanji’s lips trembled, her eyes remained closed, and hot, crystal-clear tears continuously seeped from the corners of her eyes. “It’s me… it’s my fault… I failed you…”
Cang Lan’s movements froze, and several Dragon Blood Pills spilled. She scrambled to pick them up, originally intending to give them to Yu Xuanji, but instead, she dazedlly stuffed them into her own mouth.
The Dragon Blood Pills weren’t bitter; in fact, there was a hint of faint sweetness on the tip of her tongue.
Cang Lan pinched Yu Xuanji’s chin with one hand, preparing to feed her a pill, only to hear her murmur again, “You promised me… to take me away, why did you break your word…”
Hearing these broken words, Cang Lan’s heart trembled, followed by a smile that looked worse than crying. “What nonsense is my wife dreaming about? I am right here, I haven’t gone anywhere.”
With that, Cang Lan gripped Yu Xuanji’s wrist tightly, her eyes turning red in a moment of weakness.
Yu Xuanji was still crying. Cang Lan felt as if her heart were being cut by a knife. She leaned over the bed and licked the corners of Yu Xuanji’s eyes over and over, licking away those bitter tears and swallowing them one by one.
By late night, Yu Xuanji was still asleep, not having woken up even once. Cang Lan held her in silence, lying on the bed and staring blankly at the crescent moon outside.
The words Yu Xuanji had said in her sleep lingered in her ears. Cang Lan’s mind was in a mess. she tried to stop herself from thinking about them, but they were like a draft in her head, pervasive and inescapable.
Recalling the mysterious appearance of the evil dragon phantasm a few days ago, Cang Lan felt increasingly uneasy. She felt that Yu Xuanji was hiding something from her.
That dragon was also black, huge, and full of ferocity; it probably looked very similar to her.
Outside the cave, lightning flashed and thunder roared. Soon, a torrential rain began to fall.
Yu Xuanji was startled awake by the thunder. She instinctively reached out to her side, but found it cold and empty.
Usually, whenever Yu Xuanji woke up in the middle of the night, she was either nudged awake by Cang Lan or squeezed awake by her tail.
But today, she found no sign of Cang Lan. Even the bed was cold, indicating she had been gone for a long time.
Cang Lan flew alone outside for a long time. She didn’t know where to go or how to process the cruel facts. She felt she was very pitiful, and she felt that the one Yu Xuanji loved was not her, but another dragon.
That dragon might look very similar to her, which was why Yu Xuanji liked her and was intimate with her.
If it were the Cang Lan of the past, she would have torn the person who deceived her into pieces, but she had never thought of doing such things to Yu Xuanji.
Cang Lan slammed into a mountain. In an instant, the mountain cracked, rocks flew, and the entire peak collapsed.
When Yu Xuanji finally found Cang Lan, the little dragon was crouching under a Bodhi tree, holding a thin branch and dejectedly drawing circles in the sandy soil.
As she approached, she saw faint traces of blood on Cang Lan’s head, dried against her skin. When she turned her head to meet Yu Xuanji’s gaze, half her face was covered in blood, giving Yu Xuanji a terrible shock.
Yu Xuanji’s legs went weak and she knelt on the ground, her hands trembling as she cupped Cang Lan’s cheeks. “A-Lan, what… what happened… how are you hurt? Who did this? Let me see if there are other wounds…”
Cang Lan wouldn’t let her look. Her eyes were red, and tears shimmered in her pale gold eyes as she began to sob.
Yu Xuanji felt over Cang Lan’s body and found no other wounds for the moment. She sighed in relief and began to carefully examine the wound on her forehead.
Cang Lan stared fixedly into Yu Xuanji’s eyes, gripping the hands that were caressing her and refusing to let go. She asked with a sob, “Wife, tell me the truth. Who is it that you love? Is it me, or… it?”
