The Aloof Omega Caught the Eye of a Clingy Sweetheart - Chapter 25
“I want you right now.”
Jian Qiuyi’s words made You Song’s ears burn. Her fingertips brushed against the other’s chest, feeling the fervent heartbeat through the thin fabric.
‘Thump—thump—’
It was somewhat rapid, yet strong and steady.
You Song turned her face away in embarrassment and said, “I’m still your superior right now. You should listen to me.”
“I’ve always listened to you,” Jian Qiuyi leaned in, gripping You Song’s chin to make her look at her, and said firmly, “I love seeing you in your authoritative demeanor, and I also love seeing you shy like this. Both are beautiful, and I love them all.”
“You—”
Before she could finish, Jian Qiuyi kissed her again.
This time, it wasn’t as fervent as before. Jian Qiuyi kissed her gently, unlike the earlier biting and tearing, as if she wanted to devour You Song whole.
In the darkness, nothing was clearly visible. You Song could only hear the sounds of their kisses, the quickened breaths and the slick, wet noises.
The tender kisses melted away You Song’s resistance like water. She had already drunk quite a bit at the party, and now, under the influence of Jian Qiuyi’s pheromones, her body felt utterly weak.
Her mind was hazy, and she couldn’t help but think helplessly was this the powerlessness of an Omega facing an Alpha?
Just a whiff of pheromones, and all thoughts of resistance would vanish, turning her into a beast that could only submit, doing every shameful thing the Alpha desired.
You Song hated this version of herself. Even now, she couldn’t accept that she was such an Omega.
A moment of clarity pierced through her muddled thoughts. She remembered her frail mother, who could only endure abuse from her stepfather, a helpless Omega. After her biological father died, her mother couldn’t support herself and quickly found another man.
But her stepfather was no good man. He put on a show in public but came home to beat his wife and children.
Back then, You Song couldn’t understand why an Omega had to rely on others to survive. She would rather live a harder life, eat worse food, than let her mother suffer such torment.
[“I can’t earn money. Without your father, what would we eat or drink? Should I take you to beg on the streets?”]
She still remembered her mother, bruised and battered, saying to her: [“Song, it’s my fault for being useless. But we Omegas can only survive by depending on others.”]
[“If I could give him a male Alpha, he wouldn’t hit us anymore.”]
Would having a male Alpha really stop the beatings?
You Song didn’t believe it.
And reality proved her right. Even after her mother gave birth to a boy, it didn’t stop the man from hitting her. On the contrary, because raising a boy was far more expensive than raising a girl, and her stepfather couldn’t earn enough, he took all his frustrations out on her mother.
Calling her a burden for bringing a “money-losing daughter” into the world, and now birthing a “gold-sinking pit.”
Blame for having a son, blame for not having one.
Isn’t that just how Alphas are? Never looking for the fault in themselves.
You Song gazed at Jian Qiuyi kissing her, feeling her heart grow heavier. She couldn’t be sure if this woman would turn out like her stepfather, nor could she determine whether sleeping with her would reveal her Omega identity.
She hadn’t taken suppressants today, if she slept with Jian Qiuyi, she’d definitely be discovered.
So when Jian Qiuyi’s hand slipped under her skirt, You Song immediately pushed the woman off.
Caught off guard, Jian Qiuyi blinked in confusion. “Sis, what’s wrong?” she asked, staring at You Song.
Clutching her collar, You Song stepped off the bed and looked back at the innocently bewildered Jian Qiuyi. “You seem sober now. We have work tomorrow, I’m heading back.”
“Sis!”
Jian Qiuyi grabbed her arm, frowning in confusion. “What’s this about? The mood was perfect just now. It’s not like it’s our first time, what are you afraid of?”
Meeting her gaze, You Song said, “I just don’t want unnecessary complications during a business trip.”
After a long pause, Jian Qiuyi asked, “So… it’s fine after we return?”
You Song fell silent.
She didn’t know whether Jian Qiuyi liked her or simply wanted to sleep with her.
If it were the former, You Song could gradually assess whether Jian Qiuyi could truly accept her.
But if it were just about sex, she wasn’t that kind of person.
“That time at the hotel, I just paid for some stress relief,” You Song murmured, lowering her eyes. “If you feel insulted, I’ll make it up to you after we return. But for now, please behave properly and avoid unnecessary trouble.”
Cross-legged on the bed, Jian Qiuyi considered this. Messing around with her superior during a trip would undoubtedly anger her mother if found out.
Not that she particularly cared about her mother’s temper, but stirring up trouble seemed pointless.
She shrugged. “Fine, I’ll listen to you, sis. After we wrap up this deal and go back, we’ll continue then.”
“But…” Sitting up straight, Jian Qiuyi tugged at You Song’s skirt with a cheeky grin. “How about we don’t go all the way tonight? Just kissing and touching, what do you say?”
You Song pulled away sharply. “No.”
Perhaps she’d truly angered You Song that night. In the following days, no matter how Jian Qiuyi tried to approach her, You Song remained as cold as the King of Hell, working several all-nighters to finalize the contract.
With the contract signed, their work was essentially done the order successfully completed.
Just as everyone prepared to return home, unexpected news broke.
Gathered in Zhang Zi’s suite, the team watched the breaking international report about a sudden raw material price surge.
Director You, seated on the sofa, frowned deeply at the news. “What’s going on? Why wasn’t there any warning? Was this hike really so abrupt?”
And worse, the prices had doubled outright.
“We don’t have specific details yet. We only saw the news on TV during breakfast this morning.” Zhang Zi’s expression was grim as she turned to You Song and said quietly, “President You, if raw material prices have increased, our production costs will rise too.”
The worst part was that the orders had just been signed two days ago barely settled when this sudden news hit.
Higher raw material costs would inevitably lead to increased product prices, meaning they couldn’t sell at the originally agreed rates. But with contracts freshly signed, renegotiating or backing out now would reflect poorly on both parties.
You Song frowned deeply and asked, “If we calculate based on the new costs, how much profit can we expect?”
Before anyone could run the numbers, Zhang Zi interjected, “I’ve already done the math. If we proceed with the current contracts, we’d be lucky just to break even. Factoring in service fees, advertising costs, store rentals, and labor expenses… we’re looking at losses.”
A heavy silence fell over the room.
You Song’s face darkened further. After a long pause, she turned to Zhang Zi. “Can we still negotiate with the clients before they leave?”
“Businesspeople are shrewd. They’ve probably seen the news too reopening discussions won’t be easy.” Zhang Zi furrowed her brow. “We need another approach. Maybe we should contact overseas suppliers directly.”
You Song sighed. “Regardless, we have to try. I’ll handle the clients. You focus on reaching out to suppliers see if we can at least avoid a price hike for this batch.”
Zhang Zi nodded and left with her team.
Once the room cleared, Jian Qiuyi stepped forward from her corner and sat beside You Song. “You look pale, sis. Are you feeling unwell?”
You Song shook her head. “Come with me to meet those clients later. We need to persuade as many as possible to protect our margins otherwise, this deal will be a total loss.”
What weighed heaviest was that You Song had just assured Jian Xiangling two days ago that this project would be a success.
While the price surge was beyond her control, breaking even would be tolerable but losses? Even if Jian Xiangling didn’t voice it, resentment would simmer beneath the surface.
Now, their only hope was Jian Xiangling’s influence being substantial enough to sway the clients.
But two days had passed some had already left. Only two remained at the hotel. You Song visited both with Jian Qiuyi, only to be met with dismissive smiles and headshakes at any mention of contract revisions.
The condescension made Jian Qiuyi’s blood boil, but she held back. If You Song could swallow her pride to negotiate, the least she could do was not make things worse.
“President You,” a man in his fifties said, looking at You Song, “your company is a major player. How can you expect to maintain credibility in this industry if you’re trying to amend a contract just days after signing it?” He continued, “Rather than wasting time here, you’d be better off negotiating with your raw material suppliers. The order is already signed there’s no chance of revising the price.”
With that, he had his assistant escort You Song and Jian Qiuyi out.
Standing in the hotel corridor, You Song felt waves of dizziness washing over her. Jian Qiuyi, standing behind her, fumed, “Fine, no changes then! But what kind of attitude is this, kicking us out like that?!”
You Song shook her head. “We can’t blame them. We’ll just have to find another way.”
But before she could take two steps, her vision darkened, her legs gave out, and she collapsed!
“Sis!”
Jian Qiuyi, startled, lunged forward to catch her, barely preventing You Song from hitting the floor.
“Sis! What’s wrong? Are you okay?!” Panic surged through Jian Qiuyi as she felt something off, the moment she touched You Song’s forehead, she realized the woman was burning up with a high fever!
