The Aloof Omega Caught the Eye of a Clingy Sweetheart - Chapter 22
Jian Qiuyi was in an exceptionally good mood. This business trip would last about a week, and Jian Xiangling was aware of it, having specifically called to remind Jian Qiuyi to learn more about business from You Song during the trip and not waste the opportunity.
Jian Qiuyi understood all this perfectly, so she readily agreed to everything Jian Xiangling said, which left the person on the other end of the line quite puzzled.
Since she would be away for a long time, Jian Qiuyi’s cat needed someone to take care of it. Without hesitation, she called Ji Jia and sent the cat over the same day.
Ji Jia held the cat with a pained expression, watching as Jian Qiuyi skipped away happily like a little bird.
But Jian Qiuyi’s joy didn’t last long. When she arrived at the airport and spotted Zhang Zi, her face instantly darkened.
“What are you doing here???” Jian Qiuyi blurted out, her voice full of disbelief.
Zhang Zi raised an eyebrow, sitting beside You Song, and said, “Why can’t I be here?”
You Song glanced at her and interjected, “Don’t be rude. Address her properly call her President Zhang.”
Jian Qiuyi gritted her teeth and forced out, “Hello, President Zhang.”
“Hello,” Zhang Zi replied with a light chuckle. “Is this your first business trip, Miss Jian? Did you pack everything you need? We’ll be away for several days, visiting factories it’s going to be quite exhausting.”
“I’m not afraid of hardship,” Jian Qiuyi retorted, sitting on You Song’s other side. “When I was abroad, I lived alone and went through all kinds of difficulties. A business trip is nothing, it’s not like we’re marching 25,000 miles.”
Zhang Zi tilted her head and smirked. “Don’t be so confident, Miss Jian. Your carefree days are over things are different now.”
Jian Qiuyi huffed. “When I was studying abroad, I often went on adventures with my classmates. I even crossed the Pacific on a yacht once.”
Zhang Zi burst into laughter. “Really? Didn’t get halfway before being eaten by sharks?”
Jian Qiuyi glared at her indignantly. “Who do you think you’re looking down on?”
You Song, listening to the bickering on either side of her, felt a headache coming on. She frowned and said, “Enough. Check if you have all your documents ready, we’ll be boarding soon.”
“Got everything,” Zhang Zi said cheerfully to You Song. “It’s just a three-hour flight. We’ll land soon, and someone will be there to pick us up.”
Jian Qiuyi added, “I’ve got everything too, sister.”
Zhang Zi’s eyes gleamed with amusement as she repeated Jian Qiuyi’s words, glancing between the two. “Sister?”
You Song’s scalp prickled with discomfort. Fortunately, the boarding announcement came on just then, and she quickly stood up, distancing herself from the two as she headed for the gate.
Once on the plane, Jian Qiuyi was shocked to find herself seated in economy class while You Song and Zhang Zi were in first class. She immediately exploded, demanding to know why she was stuck in economy.
You Song felt her headache worsening and suddenly regretted bringing Jian Qiuyi along. She pinched the bridge of her nose and explained, “Company policy. Assistants only qualify for economy class. Go back to your seat the plane’s about to take off.”
Jian Qiuyi opened her mouth but then remembered that Xu Ye had only booked her on the same flight as You Song not the same cabin. The realization made her fume, but there was nothing she could do now. She shot Zhang Zi one last glare before storming out of first class.
Zhang Zi watched her go, grinning. “That kid’s really something, huh?” she remarked to You Song.
You Song gave her a glance.
Only you would find her interesting.
After a three-hour flight, You Song saw Jian Qiuyi emerge with a dark expression and promptly turned her head, pretending not to notice.
By evening, the group had arrived at their hotel.
As the leaders of this trip, You Song and Zhang Zi naturally each had a suite, while the others squeezed into standard rooms.
Jian Qiuyi was paired with a female alpha from the legal department. The moment she stepped into the cramped room with its two small beds and worse, on a different floor from You Song her mood soured instantly.
The legal department’s female alpha didn’t dare offend the young mistress, so she could only watch helplessly as Jian Qiuyi dragged her luggage in and then right back out.
After rebooking a room on the same floor as You Song at the front desk, Jian Qiuyi finally settled in, satisfied.
She remembered that You Song was staying in the suite at the far end of the hallway, directly across from Zhang Zi. Jian Qiuyi had always suspected Zhang Zi had feelings for You Song, and now that they were on a business trip staying in the same hotel, she was convinced something would happen without her supervision.
So, after a brief rest in her room, Jian Qiuyi hurried to You Song’s door and knocked.
Knock, knock, knock!
When the suite door opened, Jian Qiuyi was met with the last person she wanted to see.
Zhang Zi looked at her in surprise and asked curiously, “What brings the young mistress here? Looking for Director You?”
Hearing this, You Song also came over and frowned at Jian Qiuyi. “What do you want?”
“What else would I be here for?” Jian Qiuyi crossed her arms, her tone stiff as she took in the sight of the two alone together. “I’m hungry. I wanted to ask where we’re having dinner.”
Only then did You Song realize it was already past six, dinnertime.
“The hotel’s second floor has a buffet. If the young mistress is hungry, she can just give her room number and eat there,” Zhang Zi said to Jian Qiuyi. “Director You and I still have some contract matters to discuss, so we won’t be able to join you.”
“What contract?” Jian Qiuyi frowned. “I want to see it too.”
Zhang Zi chuckled at this, while You Song felt embarrassed and rubbed her forehead. “Why are you butting in? Didn’t you just say you were hungry?”
“I was hungry earlier, but not anymore.” Jian Qiuyi brushed past Zhang Zi and scanned the room. The coffee table in the suite’s living area was indeed strewn with contract papers, it seemed they really had been discussing business.
Jian Qiuyi relaxed slightly, but since she was already here, she couldn’t just leave after confirming. She turned back to You Song and Zhang Zi and said, “I’ll just listen in. That’s fine, right?”
“Of course,” Zhang Zi didn’t object, though she glanced at You Song. “Director You?”
“The company will be hers someday. There’s no harm in letting her listen,” You Song said flatly. “Let’s continue.”
The two sat on the sofa discussing matters while Jian Qiuyi listened attentively from a nearby armchair.
But Jian Qiuyi was still a novice. At first, she could follow along, but as the conversation deepened, she started struggling to keep up.
So she quietly pulled out her phone to search online, piecing together enough to understand what they were talking about.
By the time the two of them finished their discussion, it was already past 8 p.m. The sky outside had completely darkened, and the neon lights of the city cast colorful reflections through the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room, creating an almost surreal atmosphere.
Jian Qiuyi looked at the two people before her and suddenly realized they weren’t flirting all day long, when it came to work, they were incredibly focused.
What struck her most was that from the moment they got off the plane until now, they had been discussing work nonstop. They hadn’t even eaten or had much water, yet they had managed to revise several feasible plans in one go.
Was this You Song’s daily routine?
Jian Qiuyi studied the woman’s slender face. At first, she had only thought You Song was beautiful, stubborn, and interesting. But now, she realized just how hardworking she was.
Despite all her struggles, You Song still made an effort to consider Jian Qiuyi’s feelings. Even after Jian Qiuyi had provoked her so many times, You Song had never truly retaliated.
Now, it seemed Jian Qiuyi had been the ungrateful one.
Sensing the gaze, You Song looked up and noticed Jian Qiuyi frowning slightly at her. She then said calmly, “If you’re hungry, you can go downstairs to eat.”
“What about you?” Jian Qiuyi asked. “It’s so late, aren’t you going to rest? Aren’t you tired?”
You Song rubbed her temples and leaned back on the sofa. “We’re used to it,” she replied.
