The Aloof Little Puppy Is Super Obedient - Chapter 38
Facing the current situation, Chu Jingtian was utterly speechless. This was far too difficult for him to navigate; looking at the remnants of last night, he felt a genuine sense of dread. He did not understand how things had turned out this way, nor did he know how to stabilize his emotions and regain control of his racing heart.
The moment he looked around, he knew they had caused a disaster.
“Did we have sex last night?” Chu Jingtian could feel the subtle physical ache. As the realization sank in, his hands tightened into fists. He felt a profound sense of pain in his heart, completely lost on how to face this.
Sometimes, keeping these things inside is excruciating, yet even when he tried to suppress his emotions, he only felt more agitated.
“Yes.”
Su Jingyang did not know how to explain it to Chu Jingtian. He felt responsible for how things had escalated the previous night. If he had practiced more restraint, they might not be facing this fallout today.
Chu Jingtian stared at the reality of the situation, his mind a blank void regarding how to move forward. It had all happened so suddenly. He took several deep, shaky breaths.
“Let me, let me just calm down for a moment. I need to think about how to handle this.”
His voice betrayed his inner turmoil. How could anyone remain calm after such a turn of events? It was a miracle he had not fainted from the stress. Most confusing of all was how he had seemingly lost his mind after just one bottle of beer. His alcohol tolerance was non-existent, and now he had to pay the price.
Remembering fragments of the previous night, his cheeks flushed crimson. It was so embarrassing.
“Fine. Just don’t dwell on it. Forget everything that happened last night. We will act as if nothing ever occurred.”
Thinking about last night was too mortifying; if they kept those memories alive, they would be trapped in awkwardness forever. Su Jingyang nodded in agreement. He could not say much else, given that Chu Jingtian was the one who had truly lost out in this situation. Yet, recalling how wild Chu Jingtian had been the night before, he felt as if Chu Jingtian were acting like a heartless man, running away the moment he put his trousers back on.
Chu Jingtian felt tears prick his eyes. Su Jingyang was his brother, yet after doing this, he did not know how he could ever face him again, let alone their parents.
As Chu Jingtian spiraled into worry, Su Jingyang stood up and quickly finished dressing. Chu Jingtian watched him in disbelief; he had not expected Su Jingyang to be so composed and fast.
“I didn’t realize you could get dressed so quickly. You’re quite something.”
“Regardless of anything else, you must forget last night,” Chu Jingtian repeated. “Do not let those memories take root. Just pretend we did nothing at all.”
The memories were like a heavy weight, and facing them felt farcical. He could only sigh and push the emotions down into the depths of his heart.
After lingering in the room, a while longer, they finally finished dressing and walked out. They immediately ran into one of the cleaning ladies. Seeing the two of them emerge from the same room, she looked at them with confusion. “Young masters, did you not sleep at all last night?”
Chu Jingtian froze, his face burning with shame. He had no idea how to explain this.
Just as he was about to panic, Su Jingyang stepped in front of him and looked at the auntie with a serious expression. “Auntie, we were playing poker all night. We just lost track of time until dawn.”
Su Jingyang looked a bit bashful, but his tone was steady. The auntie studied them for a moment. Knowing Su Jingyang was an upright and kind person, she did not let any impure thoughts linger and dismissed her suspicions. Since she had watched them grow up together, she did not believe anything scandalous could happen. She simply urged them to get some proper rest.
Chu Jingtian watched her leave and let out a long, shaky sigh of relief. The tension finally began to dissipate. He had been terrified of what she might think; if she had known the truth, it would have been an impossible, messy situation to explain.
“Phew, luckily she didn’t think much of it. If she knew the truth about us, we’d be finished,” Chu Jingtian whispered. Su Jingyang nodded and began to speak quietly with him as they moved.
Since it was still relatively early, only the cleaning and kitchen staff were busy in the house. Chu Jingtian felt relieved that his parents were not home yet; he would not have known where to start with an explanation for them. At least with the staff, he could interact normally without them suspecting a thing.
He felt less tense than when he first woke up. The initial panic was starting to fade into a dull hum of anxiety. Sometimes, you just have to breathe through the chaos to keep your emotions from taking over.
Su Jingyang followed closely, watching Chu Jingtian’s alert behavior with confusion. Chu Jingtian was acting extremely vigilant, scanning every corner of the house.
“I’m telling you, when you come to my house in the future, don’t say a word out of place,” Chu Jingtian warned sternly. “The staff here have sharp tongues; secrets get leaked in an instant!”
Su Jingyang nodded, accepting the advice. An auntie soon emerged from the kitchen and served them breakfast. Chu Jingtian found the food tasteless. His mind was still a battlefield of last night’s memories. They were etched into his brain, impossible to erase or ignore. He did not know how to explain himself to his own conscience.
After finishing his meal in silence, Chu Jingtian stood up to leave.
“You should go home now. I have to go to work, and you should get busy with your own affairs,” Chu Jingtian said coldly. He was being blunt because he truly had work to attend to and no emotional capacity left to look after Su Jingyang.
Su Jingyang watched him walk away, feeling a bit like a discarded person. He let out a helpless sigh.
“Don’t overthink it,” Chu Jingtian told himself. “Just breathe.” He fought to suppress the messy thoughts, refusing to let them occupy his body and mind. Obsessing over it was not worth the energy.
However, as Chu Jingtian sat at his desk later that day, the stories of the previous night continued to play on a loop in his mind.
