The Aloof Little Puppy Is Super Obedient - Chapter 37
Chu Jingtian tried to push all his stray thoughts aside. He stood up slowly and looked at Su Jingyang. His gaze was complex, filled more with helplessness than anything else. He simply did not know how to relax his mind.
In the absence of a better plan, he thought of the one thing that could act as a catalyst: alcohol.
“Would you be willing to come back to my place and have a drink with me downstairs?” Chu Jingtian looked at Su Jingyang, unsure if he would agree.
Su Jingyang, who had been watching him closely, felt a wave of confusion and uncertainty. He looked at Chu Jingtian with a hint of embarrassment; he had never expected such a request.
“If you don’t drink, then forget it. It’s fine if I drink alone…” Chu Jingtian noted Su Jingyang’s hesitation and didn’t want to force him. He knew Su Jingyang was a “good kid”—the type who likely didn’t touch alcohol. He could see the reluctance in his eyes.
Seeing Chu Jingtian start to turn away, Su Jingyang quickly stepped forward and grabbed his arm. “Brother, if you want to drink, I’ll accompany you.”
Chu Jingtian was surprised but eventually nodded. They went downstairs, grabbed several bottles of beer, and began to drink. As the alcohol took hold, Su Jingyang felt himself sinking into the atmosphere.
“You know,” Chu Jingtian began, his voice thick with emotion, “drinking this now… it’s hard. I don’t even know how to begin telling you everything that happened over those years.”
“I thought that after I divorced that scumbag, I wouldn’t let these feelings affect me anymore. I never expected that seeing him again would make me reflexively relive everything…”
“It’s not that I still have feelings for him. It’s that everything that happened back then feels so pathetic. These memories are stuck in my head, and I don’t know how to make them vanish.”
Chu Jingtian felt truly aggrieved, haunted by the pain of his past. Su Jingyang watched him struggle and moved closer, pulling Chu Jingtian into a supportive embrace.
“Brother, do you know the saying?”
“What?”
“That what happened in the past should stay there. If we can’t forget it, it means we still care too much about the impact it had.”
Chu Jingtian looked at him, confused. He thought he had moved on; why was he still panicking over these fleeting moments of the past? Only he knew how terrifying those years truly were. Forgetting the “dust of the mortal world” was proving much harder than he anticipated.
Su Jingyang sighed, feeling helpless about how to explain things. He had experienced similar feelings before—seeing Chu Jingtian marry someone else years ago had been a massive shock to him, and he had struggled to forget the sight of Chu Jingtian looking so happy with another person. But he had let that go now. To him, the person in his arms was his entire world.
Seeing Chu Jingtian so frightened because of a man like Zhou Nian, Su Jingyang tightened his hold, gently stroking his back to calm him.
“Brother, you have to stabilize your emotions. Don’t let these messy things control you. You have to realize these feelings are beneath you. You have to conquer them!”
Chu Jingtian listened and tried to let go of the fear. He told himself these were just trivial matters he needed to lock away in his heart. Feeling slightly better, he picked up another beer and began to gulp it down.
Hmph.
It was ridiculous to let these past events cloud his mind. He’d rather drink and clear his head than let those messy thoughts linger. One bottle followed another. Su Jingyang watched in disbelief as Chu Jingtian downed the alcohol with such intensity.
Feeling protective, Su Jingyang pulled him closer again. “That’s enough, Brother. Don’t be sad anymore. Just calm down and don’t let this affect you…”
Chu Jingtian looked up, his vision blurry. His body felt flushed and hot from the heavy drinking. In his dazed state, he looked at Su Jingyang but saw the shadow of the past. He suddenly reached out, grabbed Su Jingyang’s tie, pulled him down, and kissed him.
Su Jingyang was stunned. He had only wanted to help his brother control his emotions; he never expected this.
What followed was a loss of control as Chu Jingtian pulled Su Jingyang into the room…
(The remaining events of the night are too intimate to be described here.)
The Next Morning
When Chu Jingtian woke up, he glanced to the side. A man was lying next to him. As his vision cleared, he realized with a shock that it was Su Jingyang.
The morning sun hit Su Jingyang’s face, adding a delicate radiance to his features. His pale skin looked even fairer in the light. Chu Jingtian stared, unable to believe what he was seeing.
As his memory returned, the fragmented, hazy scenes of the previous night’s “mistakes” flooded his mind. He looked at his own body, panic rising in his chest. This was not a “pleasant surprise”—it was a total shock. He didn’t know how to face this.
Just as he was spiraling, Su Jingyang opened his eyes. He looked at Chu Jingtian with a bit of confusion before sitting up.
“Brother, why are you up so early?”
Su Jingyang’s voice was hoarse, a stark reminder of the “mistake” they had made. Chu Jingtian clenched his fists. The fragmented memories of the night before made it impossible for him to look Su Jingyang in the eye.
He felt a profound sense of guilt. He didn’t know how to explain himself or how to face his “younger brother.” He had only had a few beers; he should have been able to control himself. But then a terrifying thought struck him.
He had always been someone who couldn’t touch alcohol. Even a small amount made him lose his mind and do things he would later regret.
Chu Jingtian began to panic even more. Su Jingyang noticed and moved closer, trying to soothe him. “Brother, calm down. Don’t let this ruin your mood…”
But hearing Su Jingyang’s voice only made Chu Jingtian feel more flustered. The events of the night were a massive blow to him and surely, they were a blow to his brother too. He felt completely lost, trapped by emotions he didn’t know how to resolve.
