The Aloof Film Queen Gets Entangled by a Sweet Little Omega - Chapter 21
Units of Ten, Hundred, Thousand—I Love You!
“How did you find out about our past? How much do you remember?” Luo Xiao asked.
As they walked, Shi Rui hummed a tune and said petulantly, “I’m not telling you.”
Luo Xiao stepped forward and grabbed her arm, her tone becoming a bit heavy. “Little Rabbit, don’t hide things from me.”
She desperately wanted to know how the Little Rabbit had remembered those events from a thousand years ago, and exactly how much she had recalled.
Shi Rui turned back to look into her eyes—a pair of beautiful green eyes that made her feel as if she were falling into them with just one glance.
Thinking about the few days they had lost contact, the Little Rabbit pursed her lips aggrievedly and rubbed her eyes. “It was during the time you were ignoring me. I had dreams all night long—sometimes good ones, sometimes nightmares.”
Chu Ye’s words had been like a fuse, slowly igniting Shi Rui’s memory. In the following days, she had repaired all her memories of the past at a near-frightening speed.
Hearing this, Luo Xiao felt a needle-like sting in her heart. She couldn’t help but let go of her arm and gently stroked her face, murmuring as if lost in thought, “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t say you’re sorry,” Shi Rui said, hurriedly wiping her damp eyelashes and forcing a bright smile. “I’ll treat you to Hot Dry Noodles.”
“Okay,” Luo Xiao no longer refused.
At the Canteen
At the Hot Dry Noodles window, Shi Rui pulled her sweetheart along as they finally reached the front of the line. She shouted loudly to the auntie inside, “Auntie, one order of Hot Dry Noodles!”
“Large or small?”
“Small.”
“Alright, one small Hot Dry Noodles,” the auntie shouted to the chef inside.
Beep— Alipay received: 3 Yuan.
Shi Rui paid the money and patted Luo Xiao’s shoulder. “You wait in line here. I’m going next door to buy Mung Bean Smoothie. When your food is ready, come find me over there.”
“Okay.”
Luo Xiao’s reply was concise. She stood there properly, her gaze—which was higher than the service window—firmly fixed on that small bowl of Hot Dry Noodles, as if she were afraid she wouldn’t get the item the Little Rabbit had bought for her.
On the other side, Shi Rui squeezed into the cold drinks shop. She reached into the freezer and rummaged around, finally pulling out the coldest cup from the very bottom; it was so cold it froze her hands.
Buying the smoothie, Shi Rui walked back and happened to run into Luo Xiao, who was coming out carrying the noodles.
“Let’s go,” Luo Xiao said, her voice sounding muffled behind her mask.
Shi Rui followed excitedly by her side, standing on her tiptoes to press the icy Mung Bean Smoothie against Luo Xiao’s face, asking with a laugh, “Is it cooling?”
Luo Xiao didn’t answer. Instead, she took the hand that was playing the prank and held it, saying tenderly, “Stop messing around.”
“Oh.” Shi Rui’s face instantly flushed red, and she truly stopped messing around.
The Departure
Past the canteen was a small plaza. Luo Xiao stood in a deserted corner to make a phone call. Shi Rui followed her, only catching a couple of sentences.
“Is everything handled?” “Drive the car to the underground parking lot.”
Listening to this, Shi Rui felt the person on the other end was likely Qi Ran.
Luo Xiao hung up and glanced back at her. “Let’s go.”
Shi Rui quickly followed. They moved through the crowd toward the underground garage and soon saw Qi Ran leaning against a car door.
“Over here!” Qi Ran shouted, opening the car door.
There was a pillar right in front of Shi Rui, blocking her path. She instinctively started to walk to the left, but after only one step, she was pulled to the right.
Luo Xiao gripped her cold hand, which was still damp with condensation, and said coldly, “Walk this way.” Her tone brooked no argument.
Shi Rui didn’t realize what was happening at first. After a few steps, she whispered, “Both sides are the same.” Why did she have to pull her back?
Luo Xiao didn’t answer. She held the car door and looked at her, her words as precious as gold: “Get in.”
Shi Rui pursed her lips and sat inside holding her smoothie. Luo Xiao followed and quickly shut the door.
Qi Ran sat in the front, buckling her seatbelt while asking, “Where are we going?”
“Eat first,” Luo Xiao said. She opened the noodles and pulled two pairs of disposable chopsticks from her pocket, handing them to Shi Rui.
Seeing this, Qi Ran turned around with a grin to take them. “I haven’t had Hot Dry Noodles in ages, either.”
However, Luo Xiao pulled the noodles away and said icily, “Go buy your own.”
Qi Ran glared at her, huffing, “Who is being so stingy? Buying only one portion of noodles.”
Shi Rui unwrapped the chopsticks and held them up, replying timidly, “I bought this for Sister. I ran out of money; I only had enough for one bowl.”
“Ignore her,” Luo Xiao said, staring at the Little Rabbit. She moved the noodles closer and urged, “Eat.”
Seeing this, Qi Ran joked, “Why are you buying her noodles? She can’t just eat whatever she wants, especially now. You might as well feed me instead.” She finished by opening her mouth and pointing inside. “Ah—”
Shi Rui ignored her. She knew that actors had to manage their figures during filming, and Luo Xiao’s current role happened to be a model with a perfect physique.
“That’s why I bought her the small portion. The leftover money went to the Mung Bean Smoothie,” Shi Rui said softly, feeling a bit guilty.
“She can’t eat it anyway; give it to me,” Qi Ran said, reaching for it, but Shi Rui blocked her.
“I’m treating her to this. I’ll buy some for you next time.”
“Next time? Do you still have money, Little Rabbit?” Qi Ran was the one who handled the fight at the film set, so she knew Shi Rui had paid a lot in compensation. She teased her further by trying to snatch the noodles.
“What are you doing?” Shi Rui carefully protected the noodles in Luo Xiao’s hand, which were already starting to get clumpy. She said seriously, “This is the evidence that I am pursuing her. You can’t eat it.”
“You… pursuing her?” Qi Ran doubted her own ears, then wondered if she was just out of touch. “What kind of new roleplay is this?”
“Pursuing me?” Luo Xiao also found it strange.
Shi Rui tilted her head and huffed at her. “I have my own rhythm; don’t you worry about it.”
Luo Xiao fell silent for a moment, then suddenly asked with a stern face, “Have you remembered everything about the past?”
“I’m not telling you!” Shi Rui flashed a provocative smile before changing the subject. “How long are you filming here? When are you leaving?”
Luo Xiao withdrew her inquisitive gaze. “The school scenes were supposed to take two days, but after what happened today, we’ll probably have to extend it by a day.”
“Then remember to contact me before you leave. I have a gift for you.”
A gift.
Luo Xiao’s pupils contracted sharply. Her hand holding the noodles tightened instinctively, and her eyes began to redden. Looking at the lively Little Rabbit before her, her voice became hoarse, her tone almost pleading.
“I don’t need any gifts.”
Shi Rui saw her resistance but refused to give up, insisting, “I’m going to give you one. I definitely will.”
“I said I don’t need it!” Luo Xiao’s emotions flared briefly out of control. Realizing her reaction, she looked momentarily lost, then closed her eyes to steady her voice. She said softly, “Little Rabbit, I don’t need anything, do you understand? I don’t need a single thing.”
As long as you are okay.
“Fine then.” Shi Rui’s head slumped, and her ears drooped; she looked genuinely sad.
Luo Xiao wanted to comfort her but didn’t know how to coax her back into good spirits. Seeing the impasse, Qi Ran quickly spoke up to break the tension.
“Little Rabbit, forget about the gift for a second. Even if you could give one, do you have any money left to buy it?”
Hearing this, Shi Rui immediately perked up, her ears standing straight. She didn’t seem worried at all as she replied arrogantly, “I can get a part-time job at the canteen.”
Upon hearing this, Luo Xiao picked up her phone and silently transferred money to her. Shi Rui, sharp-eyed, caught a glimpse and laughed. “Are you sending me money? If you are, it has to be 520; I’ll reject any other amount.”
Luo Xiao didn’t say anything. She simply turned away slightly and transferred 52,000 to her. Closing her phone, she said, “Use this for now. I’ll bring your card to you tomorrow.”
“So much!” The Little Rabbit was startled when she opened her phone. She counted the digits somewhat shamelessly. “Units of ten, hundred, thousand—I love you!”
The tips of Luo Xiao’s ears turned red.
In the front, Qi Ran didn’t even need to look to know what was happening. She clicked her tongue. “You think that’s a lot? What are you going to do later when our Miss Luo hands over her entire salary card? Are you going to return that too, babe?”
“Ugh—” Being called “babe” by someone else right in front of her Sister gave Shi Rui goosebumps. She asked, “Sister Ran, do you usually drive without ever adding gas?”
Qi Ran didn’t get the joke and laughed. “Are you kidding? This is a gas car. How would it run without fuel?”
“Oh,” Shi Rui nodded thoughtfully. “I thought your own ‘oiliness’ would be enough to keep it running.”
“Hey! You…” Qi Ran realized the Little Rabbit was calling her “oily” (greasy/cringey). She was about to tease her back when she saw Luo Xiao staring at her threateningly through the rearview mirror. She immediately shut up.
Shi Rui won the exchange and gave a defiant little tilt of her head. Just then, her phone buzzed. She opened it to find a message from Ming Qing.
【HELP! Little Rabbit!】
Shi Rui panicked, fearing something had happened to Ming Qing. “I have to go! Qingqing is looking for me!”
“I’ll drop you off,” Luo Xiao said, preparing to get out of the car, but Shi Rui stopped her. “Not you.”
Like a mature, steady adult, she patted Luo Xiao’s shoulder to reassure her. “Sister, trust me. I can handle this myself.” With that, she hopped out of the car and vanished in a flash.
Luo Xiao thought for a moment but chose not to chase after her. Instead, she picked up the chopsticks Shi Rui had used and continued to eat the remaining noodles. The Mung Bean Smoothie sat quietly beside her.
Qi Ran started the car and glanced at her in the mirror. She huffed jealously. “The noodles are cold. Careful you don’t get a stomach ache.”
Luo Xiao ignored the sour comment and asked, “What was the situation with the crew today? Why was she there as an extra?”
Qi Ran shrank back slightly, making excuses. “She called and begged me to arrange it. She made me promise not to tell you.”
“She told you not to tell, so you didn’t?”
“Of course,” Qi Ran chuckled proudly. “I can see quite clearly who will be the head of the household between you two in the future.”
The car fell silent again.
Holding the cold noodles, Luo Xiao replied with a lonely expression, “She and I can never be a family.”
Qi Ran’s smile froze. She said seriously, “Wait, you two are already like this, and she’s acting like that… you still plan on keeping things like this?”
“How are we? And how is she acting?” Luo Xiao raised her eyelids and gave her a lazy, cold look. “You don’t understand.”
The hurdle in her heart had never been cleared, and it never would be.
Qi Ran didn’t understand why they had to love each other so painfully. Why couldn’t they just be passionate and free? Love is love; why so many worries and fears? What was the point of that?
“What about the fight?” Luo Xiao asked suddenly. “Is it handled?”
“Yeah, all settled. No one leaked it,” Qi Ran replied.
“Was anyone hurt?”
“Are you asking about the Little Rabbit?” Qi Ran smirked, thinking: And you say you don’t care.
Luo Xiao glanced at her coldly and snorted. “You think I wouldn’t know if she were hurt?”
Qi Ran nodded repeatedly. “Right, right. With your ‘sticky rice’ eyes, the moment she appears, you’re glued to her. You probably checked her from head to toe. Did you count if she was missing any strands of hair?”
“Stop being flippant.” Luo Xiao seemed genuinely annoyed. Qi Ran went quiet for a moment, dropped the joking, and answered honestly, “Only your stunt double took a bump. The doctor said it’s a mild concussion.”
“Mhm.” Luo Xiao nodded slightly, looking out the window. She calmly instructed, “Go check on her.”
“Fine.” Qi Ran turned the car toward the hospital.
Luo Xiao stared out the dark car window, a faint sense of unease growing in her heart.
The Little Rabbit said she wanted to give her a gift. Her birthday was in half a month. Giving a gift at this time made it impossible not to think of that incident—
“Sister, you’re almost a thousand years old!”
“I’m going to give you a gift. You stay here and wait for me. You’re not allowed to go anywhere until I get back, okay?”
“Sister, I’m leaving now. You have to wait for me.”
Luo Xiao felt her breathing tighten. Her heart began to ache violently, and tears flowed uncontrollably.
She had not forgotten. The last time the Little Rabbit said she was going to give her a gift, she had made her wait for a thousand years.
So this time, she absolutely could not…
