The Aloof Film Queen Gets Entangled by a Sweet Little Omega - Chapter 22
What Do Dragons Like Most?
Shi Rui ran all the way back to the dormitory. The moment she opened the door, she asked impatiently, “Qingqing, what happened?”
As her voice fell, Ming Qing ran out of He Qianqian’s room, soaking wet and shouting in a panic, “Something terrible has happened!”
“What is it? What happened?” Shi Rui was terrified by her appearance.
Ming Qing grabbed her hand and led her into He Qianqian’s room, only to find the floor covered in water.
“I accidentally broke Qianqian’s water bed.”
“Huh?” Shi Rui was shocked. “What on earth did you do? How could a water bed just break?”
“I don’t know! I just went in to look for something, and when I stood up, the zipper on my clothes accidentally snagged her bed. Then, with a rip, the water bed burst.”
Shi Rui scratched her head, questioning, “Are the beds issued by the school really that fragile?”
“Exactly, exactly,” Ming Qing said, mimicking the tone Shi Rui used when she played extra roles on film sets, shifting the blame to the school. “The quality of the beds the school provides must be terrible.”
“Then what should we do?” Shi Rui was stumped. Resting her chin in her hand, she said, “How about I go find the counselor right now and explain the situation? We need to get Qianqian a new bed quickly.”
She reached for her phone to contact the counselor, but Ming Qing pressed her hand down to stop her. “It’s no use. I already messaged the counselor. They said water beds are currently out of stock and it’ll take at least a week.”
After saying this, she showed her phone to Shi Rui.
“It really is,” Shi Rui muttered, scratching her head again. “Well… let’s clean up Qianqian’s room first, otherwise there’s water everywhere.”
“Right, let’s clean first. Thank you so much, Little Rabbit.” Ming Qing looked very anxious and worried, so Shi Rui even comforted her. After a while, Shi Rui remembered that Rong An and Qianqian weren’t there, so she asked, “Where did they go?”
“Rong Rong wanted to get her hair cut, so Qianqian went with her.”
“Oh, then let’s clean up quickly. I feel like they’ll be back soon.”
With that, Shi Rui went to the bathroom to get rags and a mop. One wiped while the other mopped, and in less than half an hour, they had cleaned the room inside and out.
When they were finished, Shi Rui stood at the door with the mop, wiping sweat from her forehead. Looking at the clean and fresh room, she thought for a moment, took a photo, and sent it to Luo Xiao.
[I cleaned this.]
The reply came back in seconds: [Very good.]
Then he asked: [By yourself?]
Shi Rui felt a bit guilty. She glanced at Ming Qing, who was nearby twirling a rag like a folk dancer’s handkerchief, and typed guiltily: [More or less.]
She then added pointedly: [I am very capable; I can take good care of myself.]
This time, there was no reply from the other side.
Just as Shi Rui was about to call him to see what he was doing, a message from He Qianqian arrived first. It was a photo of a cafeteria window, asking:
[Rong Rong and I are coming back to the dorm soon. Do you guys want anything to eat?]
“Qingqing, Qianqian is asking if we want to eat anything.”
Shi Rui held up her phone, and Ming Qing replied without thinking, “I’ll eat whatever Qianqian eats!”
“Huh?” Shi Rui froze and asked hesitantly, “Are you sure?”
Only then did Ming Qing react. She quickly explained, “I mean… you have to change your taste once in a while, right?”
“Well, your change in taste is quite broad—it’s even crossed species,” Shi Rui muttered under her breath. Hearing this, Ming Qing huffed, put her hands on her hips, and said, “Well, your relationship is cross-species too!”
Shi Rui blinked and said sheepishly, “That seems to be true.”
She then leaned toward Ming Qing to nuzzle her. “We’re both so brave, actually daring to cross species lines.”
To her surprise, Ming Qing didn’t enjoy it; she backed away and said solemnly, “Little Rabbit, watch your public image.”
“Huh?” Shi Rui was confused. She looked around—there were no outsiders in the dorm, so what image was she supposed to be watching?
Ten minutes later, Rong An and He Qianqian returned carrying many bags. Shi Rui and Ming Qing hurried to greet them.
Ming Qing was at the front, so Rong An naturally reached out to hand over the food, but that girl walked right past her and went straight to He Qianqian behind her.
“You must be exhausted, right?”
“Huh?” Rong An looked back at her. Fortunately, before she could say anything, the things in her hands were taken by Shi Rui.
“Rong Rong, you worked hard.”
Ming Qing followed suit, saying thoughtfully to He Qianqian, “You worked hard too, sit down quickly.”
Seeing that He Qianqian had sat down, Shi Rui quickly winked at Ming Qing, signaling her to admit her mistake first. Ming Qing looked into He Qianqian’s eyes and, after some hesitation, finally spoke.
“I’m sorry, I broke your bed.”
“Ah? Is my bed okay?” He Qianqian was just about to open her lunch box; she remained quite calm upon hearing this.
“It’s not okay,” Ming Qing replied honestly. “The bed broke and water leaked everywhere, but Xiao Rui and I cleaned it up for you.”
“Oh,” He Qianqian said as she slowly opened the lunch box. “It’s fine, I can sleep in the swimming pool.”
“That won’t do!” Ming Qing got anxious immediately. “If you sleep there at night, what if you drown?”
He Qianqian blinked her round eyes and said hesitantly, “Sea otters shouldn’t drown that easily, right?”
Ming Qing didn’t care about that. With a stern face, she said seriously, “That’s not necessarily true. So, for your safety, you should sleep with me tonight.”
“We can ask the counselor to change her bed,” Rong An suggested. Ming Qing immediately took out her phone, placed it on the table, and said, “They’re out of stock lately.”
He Qianqian looked and saw that it was indeed the case. She looked up and smiled at Ming Qing, “Then I’ll have to squeeze in with you for the next few nights. Don’t find me annoying!”
Ming Qing struggled to press down the corners of her mouth, which were trying to curl upward, before finally sitting down to eat with a blush. “I won’t find you annoying,” she replied.
By the time the little Omegas finished eating and cleaning up, it was already nine o’clock. After doing their skincare routines, playing some games, and catching up on shows, it was soon time for bed.
He Qianqian was walking toward her own room in a daze when Ming Qing suddenly hooked the belt of her pajamas.
“Didn’t we agree you’re sleeping in my room tonight?”
“Oh, right.”
He Qianqian finally snapped out of it. She let out a yawn and turned toward Ming Qing’s room, with Ming Qing following close behind.
Seeing this, Shi Rui quickly pulled Ming Qing back and whispered, “Qingqing, I need your help with something. I need some advice.”
“What is it?” Ming Qing yawned. Shi Rui thought for a moment and said, “It’s like this—I want to give Sister a gift, but before that, I need to give her a few small gifts first to ‘desensitize’ her.”
Ming Qing was utterly confused. “What kind of gift is so serious that you need to desensitize her beforehand?”
“That’s not important. Just tell me, if I want to give her a small gift, what would be the most appropriate choice?”
A small gift?
Ming Qing’s interest was instantly piqued. She pulled out a chair and sat down, asking curiously, “Are you sure you want to give her a small gift?”
“Mm-hm.” Shi Rui nodded earnestly.
To be safe, Ming Qing had to confirm one more thing. “What is the current relationship between the two of you?” She explained, “I have to recommend a suitable gift based on your relationship status.”
Hearing this, Shi Rui thought it over and said, “Neither of us said we broke up after we were together before, so we should still be together now. However, she has a major ‘knot’ in her heart that hasn’t been untied. Once I resolve that, we can truly be together.”
Ming Qing felt a headache coming on. She muttered, “So much trouble… a heart-knot.”
Just then, a thin voice drifted out from the room behind them. “Qingqing, come to beeed already~”
Ming Qing’s heart skipped a beat. She immediately decided to settle this quickly and stop overthinking—she’d just apply a universal formula.
“When choosing a gift, you definitely have to pick something the other person likes most. She’s a dragon, so what do dragons like most?” Ming Qing asked.
“What do dragons like?” Shi Rui looked a bit blank. She only knew that “Sister” liked her.
Seeing this, Ming Qing grabbed her phone and searched for things dragons like most. A photo of a “Dragon Playing with a Pearl” popped up. She zoomed in and showed it to her.
“Dragon playing with a pearl—obviously, they like shiny pearls!”
“Wow!” The moment Shi Rui saw it, she fell in love with the idea. She took the phone and zoomed in to look closely, murmuring, “What a beautiful pearl.”
“Mm-hm. It’s pretty, compact, and caters to her interests. It’s the perfect gift.” Ming Qing stood up, yawning as she headed for her room. “I’m going to sleep.”
“Okay, thank you, Qingqing!” Shi Rui said, still holding her phone.
Ming Qing waved her hand. “No biggie.”
Then, her voice suddenly became soft and sweet as she called out to the room, “Wifey~ I’m back to sleeeep.”
Shi Rui stood up and turned off the lights. She went back to her own room, lay down, and opened a shopping app. She typed in “Dragon Pearl” and began browsing carefully.
“So expensive… how can one little pearl be this expensive?”
She bit her thumb and stared at the screen in deep thought. Finally, as if making a firm decision, she switched apps to the chat interface with her Sister.
She scrolled up a bit, found the previous transfer, and quickly clicked “Accept.” Then, she went back to the shopping app and bought that beautiful pearl.
Buzz buzz. A message from her Sister followed immediately: [Not asleep yet?]
Shi Rui felt a wave of guilt and hurriedly replied: [Asleep, asleep.]
[Mm. Goodnight.]
[Goodnight, Sister.]
After sending the message, Shi Rui prepared to turn off her phone and sleep. However, the status at the top of her Sister’s chat box kept showing “Typing…” She waited patiently for a long time, right until her upper and lower eyelids began to fight a losing battle. Eventually, she drifted off into a daze without ever receiving a message.
When she woke up the next day, Shi Rui’s first instinct was to check her phone. She found that their chat history was clean—there were no new messages and no notifications of retracted messages.
Shi Rui tapped her phone a few times. She felt that the phone must be broken, which was why she couldn’t receive her Sister’s messages.
Ding ding—
A pop-up notification appeared: [Out for delivery.]
It was the Dragon Pearl she had ordered last night. She hadn’t expected it to arrive so quickly!
Shi Rui checked the order details and realized it was shipped from within the city, which explained the speed.
She looked closer and noticed a note under the order: Discreet Shipping. There was also a free gift listed, though she couldn’t tell what it was.
“Even a little dragon pearl gets discreet shipping?”
Shi Rui muttered to herself while holding the phone, then got up to wash her face.
