The Aloof Film Queen Gets Entangled by a Sweet Little Omega - Chapter 20
May I Invite You to a Meal? (Animal Forms Heavy)
A thousand years ago, the Azure Dragon, Luo Xiao, was traveling abroad. She traversed many lands and would often let out a deliberate, sky-shaking roar when passing by mountains to playfully frighten the local animals.
Unexpectedly, this time she accidentally scared off a hunting fox, saving a silly, unidentifiable little creature in the process.
The creature stood frozen in place, staring blankly at her. Seeing that she was about to leave, it hurriedly and clumsily ran toward her.
Because it ran too fast and couldn’t stop, it was forced to do a “face-brake,” sliding across the ground and crashing. When it finally lifted its head, its tender pink cheeks were smeared black from the dirt.
Luo Xiao thought it would cry—after all, it looked so tiny—but the little bunny didn’t. Instead, it looked up at Luo Xiao in mid-air and began hopping joyfully, asking in a milky, childish voice, “Who are you?”
Luo Xiao hesitated for a moment before replying aloofly, “I am a dragon. An Azure Dragon. Do you know of them?”
She then asked, “And what are you?”
She had never seen such a “bald” animal; it had almost no fur on its body.
“Long-Long, Big Azure Dragon!” The little bunny was so excited that it spun circles around Luo Xiao’s shadow, cheering loudly, “I’m a bunny, a tiny bunny!”
Hearing this, Luo Xiao frowned. She had never seen such a hairless little rabbit.
The little bunny had been accidentally left behind when its family moved. It hadn’t even left the nest yet; its fur was extremely short, it choked easily on food, it only knew how to walk by face-braking, and it had no idea how to dig holes to hide from predators. If Luo Xiao hadn’t driven away that fox, it likely would have already become someone’s dinner.
“Where are your elders?” Luo Xiao curled into a ball on the ground, licking her paws with a sense of pride and reserve.
The little bunny didn’t seem to understand what she meant. It crouched by her feet, eyes sparkling as it watched her, then mimicked her words by shouting, “Elder! Elder!”
It’s just a silly rabbit, Luo Xiao thought to herself. She closed her eyes to nap, ignoring the creature.
The little bunny hopped a bit closer, curiously observing the massive creature before it. Discovering that the dragon’s eyes were larger than its entire body, it felt a bit intimidated.
Its heart skipped a beat; it pulled back its gaze, not daring to look anymore. It turned toward the large claws instead, crouching down and extending its two front paws. As if hugging a carrot, it carefully embraced one of the Azure Dragon’s claws and pressed its face against it, falling into a sweet sleep.
Luo Xiao’s nap lasted a long time. When she opened her eyes again, autumn had turned to winter.
The first snow had fallen the night before, and the mountain was now a world of pure white.
She moved slightly and felt a bundle of heat by her feet. She lowered her head and used her claws to brush away the accumulated snow, revealing a shivering, white, fluffy ball of fur.
Has a snow-doll come to life?
Luo Xiao was surprised. She used the tips of two sharp claws to lift the fluff-ball. It looked familiar. Upon closer inspection, it seemed to be the little rabbit she had seen before her nap.
How had it grown so much? And why was it so furry now?
Luo Xiao held it by the ears, dangling it in mid-air to examine it. The little bunny kicked its legs; its body was very hot, and though its eyes were squinting involuntarily, it still tried to lean toward Luo Xiao, muttering, “Long-Long… Big Azure Dragon…”
Does it have a fever?
Luo Xiao extended a claw to part the fur on its feet, tentatively touching the soft paw pads. They were indeed scorching hot.
Luo Xiao didn’t hesitate. She picked the rabbit up in her mouth and flew straight into the sky, searching for a cave to shelter from the cold. Finally, she found a mountain peak that hadn’t been buried by the blizzard.
She placed the little bunny inside the cave and used dried grass curled in her tail to line a warm, dry nest. Only then did she set the bunny down.
“Elder,” the little bunny whispered, half-conscious as it opened its eyes. “You finally woke up.”
After saying that, the silly rabbit rolled onto the straw pile and fainted from the fever again.
Luo Xiao didn’t linger. She paced around the cave entrance, releasing her pheromones to warn the venomous snakes and fierce beasts of the mountain: the rabbit inside belonged to her, and no one was allowed to touch it. Then, she headed down the mountain path to search for medicine.
At sunset, a massive Azure Dragon poked its head out of the forest, carrying a fresh fruit in its mouth and a bundle of herbs wrapped in its tail, rushing back with an anxious heart.
Inside the cave, the little bunny’s fever was so high it was nearly comatose. Luo Xiao hurriedly ground the medicine and administered it. Then, she lay quietly on the outer edge of the straw nest, tightly encircling the feverish rabbit.
Her body was naturally cool, which helped lower the bunny’s temperature.
Before falling asleep, Luo Xiao lazily glanced at two foxes by the entrance who were drooling with greed. She ignored them, flicking her tail and pulling the bunny closer as she slept.
Even if they had ten times the courage, they wouldn’t dare enter.
That night, the little bunny slept fitfully, feeling alternating flashes of heat and cold, its body weak. This discomfort lasted until the early morning when things finally improved, allowing it to sleep comfortably for a while.
When it woke the next day, the sky was bright. Luo Xiao rose and used her tail to check the bunny’s temperature; it seemed the fever had broken.
Now that the fever was gone, she was no longer in a hurry. Seeing that the bunny hadn’t fully woken yet, she curled up and waited patiently. She could afford to wait; even if the bunny slept for a thousand years, it wouldn’t matter.
She could wait. She had patience.
In the afternoon, the little bunny finally woke up. Seeing Luo Xiao, it became overexcited and rolled right in front of her, chirping happily, “Elder! Elder!”
“I am not called ‘Elder,'” Luo Xiao said expressionlessly. “I was asking, where are your elders?”
The little bunny tilted its head, clearly not understanding. In its eyes, the title “Elder” had already become synonymous with Luo Xiao.
Luo Xiao was Elder; Elder was Luo Xiao.
Seeing that Luo Xiao seemed upset, the bunny lowered its head and called out aggrievedly, “Elder…”
It didn’t know why Elder was angry.
Luo Xiao sighed, choosing not to argue further. She was about to say that since the bunny was recovered, they should go their separate ways, but before she could speak, the bunny’s stomach let out a loud gurgle.
The bunny twitched its ears and said sheepishly, “I’m hungry, Elder.”
Luo Xiao hummed in acknowledgement. She turned toward a corner, tapped the “table,” and said, “Come over here.”
It was time to eat!
The little bunny quickly rubbed its face with its paws, washing itself seriously, then hopped over with its hands tucked in. When it arrived, it saw a fruit ten times larger than itself.
It was instantly petrified.
Luo Xiao, completely oblivious, gently pushed the giant fruit toward the bunny with her claw, urging, “Eat quickly. If it’s not enough, I’ll go pick more.”
The little bunny stared at the massive fruit, swallowed hard, and put on an expression as if it were heading into a final battle. Then, with a burst of strength from its hind legs, it let out a roar and charged forward to fight the giant fruit.
With a sudden thud, the little bunny began rolling on the ground in pain. Luo Xiao brushed aside the bunny’s paws and pinched her muzzle to investigate, only to find that the pearly white rabbit teeth were missing half a section.
“How are you so fragile?” As the Azure Dragon spoke, her own serrated, razor-sharp teeth shimmered with a piercing light.
Lying flat on her back with teary eyes, the little bunny looked up at the Great Dragon with a face full of grievance, whispering her accusation: “Elder, this fruit is harder than a rock.”
“It shouldn’t be. It’s quite soft.”
To demonstrate, Luo Xiao lowered her head and picked up the large fruit. With a sharp crack, the once incredibly hard fruit crumbled into fragments inside her mouth.
She carefully arranged the fruit pulp in front of the little bunny and then tilted her head back to swallow the rock-hard outer shell.
The little bunny hesitated as she stared at the food, fearing her other rabbit tooth might also get chipped. However, the peeled fruit emitted a tantalizing, fresh fragrance…
Unable to resist, she sniffed it with her nose. Finding no issues, she took a cautious lick. Her eyes lit up at the taste, and she immediately began to feast greedily.
“It’s so fragrant! Why is it so fragrant?” The little bunny asked curiously while devouring the food like a little pig. Luo Xiao took a sniff and said, puzzled, “It doesn’t smell like anything. It smells fragrant to you?”
“Mm-hmm. It has a slightly salty scent, but it tastes so sweet.”
Salty?
Curious, Luo Xiao licked the claw she had used to hold the fruit.
!
Oh no. Her pheromones had leaked out and stained the fruit.
The little bunny finished all the fruit by herself and lay back on the straw rubbing her belly, saying that in all the time since she was born, this was the first time she had ever felt so full.
She looked at Luo Xiao and said softly, “Thank you, Elder~”
Hearing that voice, Luo Xiao couldn’t help but feel a surge of compassion. To make up for the little bunny’s broken tooth, she decided to postpone her travels and stay to keep the bunny company.
She thought to herself that she had plenty of time—more than she could ever spend—so staying until the bunny grew a new tooth wouldn’t take long at all. It might not even last as long as one of her naps.
And so, they settled down in that cave. This stay lasted for several decades.
Shi Rui stood before Luo Xiao with her hands behind her back, her eyes curved into crescents, speaking in a coquettish tone: “You broke my tooth and promised to stay with me until the new one grew in. Why are you ignoring me now?”
Usually, there was almost no one in this small grove at this hour. Furthermore, since everyone had gone to watch the fight over at the film set today, the surroundings were quiet enough to do just about anything.
Luo Xiao took off her mask and hat, placing them on a nearby stone table, and replied coldly, “I’m not avoiding you. I’ve just been busy with work.”
“Liar!” Shi Rui stood with her hands on her hips, her ears standing straight up, her aura as she questioned her lover being quite arrogant.
Luo Xiao averted her gaze, not wanting to discuss the matter further. The incident at the film set provided a perfect excuse, so she said, “Something happened with the crew. I need to go check it out. Go back to the dormitory first.”
“No need to check. I did it.”
Luo Xiao, who had already turned to leave, couldn’t help but stop in her tracks. She slowly turned her head to look at the person before her.
Seeing this, Shi Rui cleared her throat and gave a slightly guilty hum, making a roundabout complaint: “She bullied us first. I only fought back because I couldn’t stand it anymore.”
“She bullied you? Who bullied you?” Luo Xiao instantly found the crux of the matter. Shi Rui pouted and said with a hint of jealousy, “Your female lead.”
“What did she do to you?” Luo Xiao pressed further, but Shi Rui refused to say anything more, no matter what.
“Weren’t you ignoring me? Why are you showing so much concern now?”
Luo Xiao was stunned by the question. After a moment, her expression shifted as she replied, “We… know each other, after all. I can’t just stand by if you’re being bullied.”
“Is that so? Then does that mean I’m different from the other people you know?”
“Yes.”
“Eh?”
Luo Xiao’s mind was entirely focused on her “little bunny” being bullied, so she accidentally let the truth slip.
Hearing this, Shi Rui gave a sly smile and lifted her head proudly. “So I am a little bit special to you, right?”
Looking at her bright smile, Luo Xiao really didn’t have the heart to say anything hurtful. She nodded helplessly.
She thought to herself: It’s much more than just “a little bit.”
Seeing the nod, Shi Rui became even happier. “Then can I invite you to a meal? I got paid for being an extra today.”
“A meal?” Luo Xiao was somewhat puzzled. Shi Rui nodded and said seriously, “Back when we were on the mountain, you were always the one taking care of me. It’s different now. I can take care of myself and protect myself—I can even take care of you. So…”
At this point, Shi Rui paused, steadying her breath before continuing, “Princess Azure Dragon, would you like to share the fruits of my labor with me?”
“You want to take me to dinner with money you earned yourself?”
Luo Xiao’s eyes grew slightly moist. Upon closer listening, even her voice was trembling.
Her little bunny really seemed to be growing up well…
The tragedy from a thousand years ago would not repeat itself. The little bunny was doing everything in her power to tell her that this time, she didn’t have to hide from her. They could love each other.
Shi Rui picked up the hat and mask and put them back on Luo Xiao, then took her hand. As they walked out, she said, “I can only afford to treat you to a bowl of three-yuan hot dry noodles, though. Does the Princess mind?”
Luo Xiao felt a slight pulsing between their palms. She knew those were two hearts snuggling together at this moment, and her mood couldn’t help but improve. She curved her lips and asked back, “Didn’t you say you earned money as an extra?”
Hearing this, Shi Rui gave a sheepish laugh and scratched her head. “I did earn some, but I had to pay it all back because of the fight. My living expenses are all gone. I only have five yuan left on me.”
Upon hearing this, Luo Xiao’s cool eyes darkened, momentarily turning a deep green that looked capable of devouring everything. Yet, her face remained softly smiling as she asked, “Five yuan. You’re buying me three-yuan noodles. What about the remaining two yuan?”
“I’ll buy you a mung bean smoothie.”
“What about you?” Luo Xiao asked. Shi Rui smiled sweetly and replied, “I don’t need anything. I’ll feel full just watching you eat.”
It was just like a thousand years ago when the two shared the same fruit in the mountain cave. Luo Xiao ate the hard shell, and Shi Rui ate the soft, waxy, sweet pulp.
The Great Azure Dragon could feel perfectly content just watching the little bunny munching away.
