The Aloof Beta Transmigrated as the Pretty Wife [Transmigration] - Chapter 29
Light and shadow flickered.
Half of Xie Chouqiu’s face was hidden in the darkness, yet he still drew plenty of gazes from the surrounding crowd. When he wasn’t smiling, his expression was haughty, his handsomeness bordering on intimidating.
When Qi Chen called out to him, Xie Chouqiu turned his eyes in response.
The soft theater lights fell from above, catching the sharp angles of his face. His cold, deep eyes seemed to light up as he looked toward the entrance.
Su Ren’s heart tightened. He saw Xie Chouqiu’s misty-blue pupils brimming with a fire-like yearning, a thick, heavy gaze that Su Ren didn’t understand and didn’t care to understand. It lingered on the corner of his lips for several seconds, like melted taffy that refused to let go.
Xie Chouqiu’s look was strange. It seemed to possess both the raw passion of a youth and the obsession of a grown man.
Su Ren froze, instinctively averting his gaze. He lowered his eyes with feigned indifference, but he couldn’t suppress the weird feeling rising in his chest.
Xie Chouqiu was wearing a high-quality, pure black shirt. His shoulder line was broad and straight, hinting at a lean, powerful waist and a perfect V-tapered physique. He was dressed elegantly today, and paired with that aristocratic face, he looked exceptionally respectable.
Su Ren frowned. “What did you call me here for?”
Xie Chouqiu’s eyes sparkled. “A date.”
Su Ren blinked coldly. “But I already rejected you.”
Xie Chouqiu slipped one hand into his pocket and smiled with poise, pulling out three theater tickets. “Look, a date between colleagues, is that not allowed?”
Seeing three tickets, Su Ren’s expression softened slightly. After a brief hesitation, he reached out to take one.
However, when he tried to pull a ticket away, it didn’t budge. Xie Chouqiu held onto it, refusing to let go.
Su Ren rolled his eyes, having no patience for such childish games, and randomly reached for a different one. This time, it came free.
Xie Chouqiu immediately handed one of the remaining two to Qi Chen, his manner perfectly gentlemanly. “Teacher Qi, thanks for your hard work.”
Qi Chen blinked in disbelief as he took the ticket. Then, he heard Xie Chouqiu add, “You go on in first. Su Ren and I need to use the restroom.”
Su Ren: “…”
As Qi Chen walked inside, Su Ren knit his brows coldly and shot another look at Xie Chouqiu. The man’s handsome face was full of charm, his eyes clear. Aside from the fact that he seemed a bit dim-witted, there were no obvious flaws.
Su Ren finally looked down at his own ticket.
The theater seats were divided into odd and even numbers. Qi Chen entered through the left, while they needed to go through the right. No wonder Xie Chouqiu wouldn’t let him take that first ticket.
Su Ren was a bit speechless. He couldn’t fathom why Xie Chouqiu would suddenly invite him to a play for no reason, and bring Qi Chen along to boot.
Once seated, Su Ren stared straight ahead and asked tentatively, “Have you seen a rabbit lately?”
Xie Chouqiu was already sitting very close to him, quietly enveloping Su Ren in his fresh scent. “A rabbit?”
“Yes. A white one.”
“I think I might have seen one.”
Su Ren turned his head, about to ask for more details, but he caught Xie Chouqiu’s burning gaze fixed on his legs.
“Do white silk stockings with rabbit ears count?” Xie Chouqiu blinked.
Su Ren: “…”
Xie Chouqiu, clearly having a death wish, added, “They looked really good. Can I see you wear them again?”
Thwack!
Su Ren smacked the back of Xie Chouqiu’s head, his face devoid of emotion. “Say another word and I’ll knock your head off.”
Xie Chouqiu blinked blankly, his puppy-dog eyes looking wounded as he hung his head submissively. “You’re so mean.”
“You’re just realizing this today?”
Xie Chouqiu shook his head like a dazed dog, his eyes once again drifting uncontrollably toward Su Ren’s thin lips. “No.”
Su Ren kept his face cold, instinctively pressing his lips into a straight line to stop the man from looking.
Then he heard Xie Chouqiu say, “But the meaner you are, the more I want to tease you—”
Thwack!
Another one. It was a crisp sound.
Qi Chen was sitting diagonally behind them, roughly twenty meters away. From the moment the two sat down, Qi Chen had been watching with bitterness. He watched Su Ren smack him once, then again, as if he were thumping a watermelon.
But why did even Su Ren’s “dog-smacking” movements look so sharp and graceful? Why did it look less like an assault and more like flirting?
Qi Chen felt pathetic.
Su Ren, meanwhile, felt irritated. His cold, pretty face was taut with anger because Xie Chouqiu kept trying to press against him in secret.
Cuddle, pull away. Cuddle, pull away again.
Continue to cuddle—Click! The play began, and the theater lights cut out.
Perhaps startled by the sudden darkness, Xie Chouqiu’s head slumped onto Su Ren’s shoulder.
Thoroughly annoyed, Su Ren went to push the man’s head away. However, before his palm could land, a powerful, calloused hand suddenly seized Su Ren’s wrist with terrifying force!
Su Ren felt his heart skip a beat. He looked into Xie Chouqiu’s eyes, only to find them clouded and full of malice.
Above Xie Chouqiu’s head, floating in the dark air, was a long string of golden text, the same kind that had once appeared above Su Ren:
Transmigrator: Xie Chouqiu Selected Work: “Su Ren is a Delicate Little Omega” Loading Progress: 19%
At the same time, Su Ren noticed a white, glowing rabbit ball at his feet.
Su Ren looked at the unresponsive Xie Chouqiu, then back at the rabbit. The rabbit ball spoke at a rapid-fire pace: “He can’t see me yet.”
Su Ren frowned and asked, “Is his subconscious being replaced by his original self?”
Tu Qiuqiu squeaked, “Theoretically, it’s highly likely. There’s a bug in the system. Only when the light is sufficient does Xie Chouqiu’s current subconscious take the lead. The Xie Chouqiu you see right now is composed of 19% ‘Original Self’ and 81% ‘System Consciousness’.”
Su Ren’s brow deepened. “Can I stop him from coming through?”
The rabbit’s large ears stood up. “Squeak! Theoretically, there is a way to stop this transformation.”
“How?”
“His current subconscious is weak because it hasn’t been nourished properly, allowing the overly powerful ‘Original Self’ to take advantage. To put it in plain terms, you two haven’t done it in far too long! You need to have sex with him!”
Su Ren: “…”
Tu Qiuqiu: “Squeak?”
Su Ren: “Pretend I never asked.”
As Su Ren’s desire to communicate withered, the rabbit ball vanished.
The massive theater was packed, yet the atmosphere was deathly silent. Su Ren stared intently at that “19%,” his heart pounding like a drum.
Since the moment the lights went out, Xie Chouqiu’s sharp, flirtatious eyes had been fixed unblinkingly on Su Ren’s neck, as if he were studying it.
Suddenly, while one of Xie Chouqiu’s hands was kneading Su Ren’s slender wrist, the other hand braced against the back of Su Ren’s chair. He slowly lowered his head and obsessively kissed Su Ren’s fragile, pale neck.
Startled, Su Ren instinctively turned his face away to avoid him, but Xie Chouqiu pinned him down, rendering him unable to move even a millimeter. Immediately after, his earlobe was kissed, then bitten gently by Xie Chouqiu’s teeth.
Xie Chouqiu interlaced his fingers with Su Ren’s, then sat up straight without making a sound. He leaned back against the seat and crossed his long legs, exuding an air of absolute dominance.
Su Ren looked at Xie Chouqiu with disgust. He wanted to pull his hand away, but he didn’t quite dare to, so he could only close his eyes in silent endurance.
The stage lights beneath the giant screen flickered on, illuminating a youth in white. Melodious singing filled the theater.
Su Ren looked closely and realized that the person on stage was none other than Gu Ziqi, the minor celebrity who had been with Wei Hai during the food street brawl a few days ago.
Right now, Gu Ziqi was wearing a white dress with lace trim, and fine white stockings were visible beneath the skirt. The spotlight made his delicate face look almost transparent. The young man’s eyes held a dim, flickering light as he sang at the top of his lungs… but his voice cracked, and he kept missing notes.
Meanwhile, Xie Chouqiu’s calloused thumb slowly rubbed against Su Ren’s palm.
Su Ren frowned, a bad premonition rising in his heart.
He heard Xie Chouqiu’s cool, deep voice, laced with a faint, phantom-like smile—sounding like a total madman:
“I want you to replace him. Can you do that?”
