Sweet O's Report on Post-Marriage Deterioration - Chapter 2
Stepping out of the elevator, the riotous pheromones made Mu Yan feel increasingly impatient.
His blood thumped violently with every beat, and his irritable emotions spread rapidly through his body along with the pheromones. It felt as though something lurking deep within him was about to tear this body apart in the next second, stamping out his reason amid splattering blood and causing his brain to lose control entirely.
Taking a few more deep breaths, Mu Yan fought back the urge toward bloodlust and irritability stirred up by the pheromones and quickly sent out a few messages.
He subconsciously reached into his pocket, only to find it completely empty.
The high-potency suppressants he always carried with him had somehow been used down to the very last one.
His pheromones were so exceedingly rare that the standard concentrations available on the market simply weren’t strong enough. Being a person of meticulous detail, he never allowed himself to make even the slightest error at work due to biological instincts; wherever he went, he always brought specialized high-potency suppressants uniquely developed by his own biological research institute.
However, a business trip that should have long since ended was disrupted by a competitor at the last minute, and to make matters worse, it coincided with an early rut. Even though he had prepared a few extra suppressants in advance, he had still missed one detail.
Damn it. Exactly whose Omega pheromones could possibly have such a massive impact on him?
His violent emotions could no longer be contained, beginning to spill outward in a terrifying pressure. He was steadily losing his grip on reality, and even his vision was covered by a layer of dark red.
His pheromones began leaking out uncontrollably.
Wisp by wisp, they drilled out from his skin, leaving behind a burning sensation. His temperature continued to rise.
The intense scent of tequila condensed into something almost tangible, rushing straight to his brain and shoving him directly into a furnace to be burned to ashes.
Mu Yan knew well that his pheromone concentration would soon reach its threshold and set off the hotel’s alarm system. With almost brutal force, he ripped off his tie and, relying on the very last shred of his sanity, strode quickly toward his room.
His body was becoming increasingly uncontrollable. Although the hallway was quite spacious, he bumped into a utility cart on the other side.
The silver cart shook, and something collided and rattled, rolling off the surface.
A sweet, cloying scent spread through the corridor.
The crisp rattling sound turned into a sharp, hostile screech in Mu Yan’s ears as veins bulged on his hands.
His chaotic mind could no longer hear any sounds at all.
The room door with iris recognition finally opened. Calm and reason had already run completely amok, leaving only lingering instinct to support this shell of a body.
He adjusted the room’s air purification intensity to the highest setting, activated the defense system, and completely sealed the room off.
His mind had been battered by the collision of pheromones until it was nothing more than a wasteland.
In a daze, the alpha’s acute hearing nevertheless caught a faint sound.
Mu Yan’s body turned uncontrollably toward the door.
The door of the opposite room was pushed open from the inside.
An Omega radiating a sweet pheromone was right behind the door.
Ruan Nian’s body seemed to be frozen.
He saw an alpha.
An alpha on the verge of heat.
The heavy scent of alcohol in the air rushed into his nasal cavity instantly, making it impossible for him to breathe. His cold body was suddenly flooded with scorching pheromones, as if trying to set him on fire; his arms, his legs, and the organs within his body began to ache faintly.
He was like a lamb standing outside a cage, locked in place and stared down by a starving, ravenous beast.
In those eyes, he saw his own reflection.
A fragile, slender, helpless prey.
Once targeted, there was no escaping. He could only be torn apart without resistance under suppression, his bones broken one by one, and swallowed whole flesh and bone.
Ruan Nian used his final strength to slam the door shut.
This tiny action, however, was framed and slowed down as if in slow motion.
He was just a hair’s breadth away from locking the prison door.
A hand clamped onto the edge of the door.
The situation reversed in an instant.
The starving wolf rushed out from the cage, sank its teeth into the lamb’s neck, and dragged it into the cell.
A hand with distinct knuckles struggled to grip the pure white bedsheet on the edge of the bed, attempting to drag his body away to escape, but his slender joints were tightly grabbed by a hand and ruthlessly dragged back.
The scents of sweet milk and tequila burst out simultaneously, filling the entire room.
Tang Xian had not driven far after receiving the message before hurriedly turning back to the hotel. To his surprise, the hotel manager along with several senior executives were in the lobby. Their expressions were grave, and the air was thick with tension and panic.
Upon seeing Tang Xian, the hotel manager looked as though he had met his savior. This young executive assistant frequently represented the notoriously elusive CEO to inspect properties, so many senior executives under Muyu Group were familiar with his face.
Before Tang Xian could even ask what had happened, the hotel manager had already sent out a distress signal.
“Assistant Tang! It is so good you are here! The CEO suddenly checked in. Did he give you any advance instructions?!”
Tang Xian quickly recalled the tasks Mu Yan had given him, which seemed to be only to come pick him up in four hours.
That was strange. Could something go wrong even during a simple rest?
As a beta, he could not perceive his boss’s pheromones, but recalling his boss’s somewhat unusual state recently and his sudden request to rest at the hotel due to feeling unwell, his expression slowly grew solemn.
“No special instructions. But he… Sorry, let me send a message first.”
Big trouble was coming. Tang Xian immediately dialed a communication request to Dr. Qin Mo. While the hotel manager continued to chatter away in his ear reporting the situation, Tang Xian almost dropped his smart device, letting it nearly fly out of his hand.
“What did you say?! Say that again!!”
Mu Yan dragged the newly checked-in Omega from across the hall directly into his room?!
Night had completely fallen.
The spacious corridor was crowded with people, all of whom wore grim expressions without exception.
Ruan Shi’s clenched fists were trembling slightly from using too much force; he wished he could smash the door open right this second and kill the alpha inside.
Ruan Nian, Ruan Nian. His younger Omega brother, whose health was poor since childhood, actually did this!
Muyu?! So what if he was the CEO of Muyu! How dare he treat his younger brother, Ruan Shi’s brother, like this?!
Anger made it almost impossible for him to think. His feet couldn’t help taking a step forward, but his action was immediately detected by the person beside him, and his shoulders were grabbed tightly to keep him from taking another step.
“Ruan Shi! Don’t be impulsive! Alphas are subconsciously guided by pheromones, did you forget?!”
“I know!!” Ruan Shi’s voice was practically a roar. “Niannian’s health is bad! That is an alpha! He is going to hurt Niannian, do you understand?!”
Tan Qiyu was completely unable to restrain this alpha currently in a state of fury, and it took the joint effort of several bodyguards just to barely hold him back.
The chaotic situation from a little while ago had left him physically and mentally exhausted, and his usually clear and gentle voice was somewhat hoarse.
“I know, I know, I know you are worried about Niannian. But high-matching pheromone attraction is completely unavoidable. Any external force during the bonding process will directly make the alpha feel that his territory is being violated. We simply have no way to control him in the first place! You know how top-tier pheromones work, do you not? Once he is angered, nobody knows what will happen to Niannian, who is closest to him!”
Ruan Shi clenched his teeth and slammed his fist into the wall!
With a loud crash, the pristine white wall caved in deeply, faintly revealing a metal fracture surface.
Tan Qiyu knew he had calmed down temporarily and quietly stepped forward to treat the blood on his hand.
Tang Xian even slowed down his breathing rate. Cold sweat soaked his shirt as he tried to reduce his presence to the absolute minimum.
Beneath his calm and steady expression was a silent wail: Why did it have to be a once-in-a-century high-matching Omega?! And the other party just happened to be the Ruan family CEO’s younger brother! A rut colliding with an imminent heat, blowing everything up right on the spot, leaving his role as a lowly assistant to clean up this massive mess!
Footsteps approached from afar, and an alpha walked over with a solemn expression. He was even still wearing his pajamas, the buttons near his collarbone unbuckled.
“A 98 percent match. Truly unheard of.” The phoenix eyes, usually carrying a hint of casualness, were filled with gravity. “There are barely any research materials on such rare pheromones. The two of them could smell each other even if they were separated by a whole street.”
Long stellar history was not lacking in OAs with high pheromone matches.
When pheromones were in a high state of compatibility, they easily stimulated each other, and in severe cases, could even cause one party’s pheromone concentration to break through the threshold and enter heat early.
Such a situation, however, was far too rare. Any initial signs would normally be captured by the micro-suppressant capsules that adult citizens were legally required to inject annually, calming them down instantly via an automatic dose.
However, such suppressants were completely unable to grant even a moment of clarity to two individuals whose pheromone levels were at historically rare tiers.
Ruan Shi’s expression grew even uglier.
The hotel’s circulation system showed that the pheromone concentration inside the room was still fluctuating constantly. Even though five hours had passed, there was not the slightest sign of it weakening.
The hotel staff and other guests had already been evacuated. This sudden accident was jointly controlled by the Ruan family and Muyu to reduce the impact of the incident to a minimum.
Both of them had many enemies in the business world, and if scent-sensitive rivals caught hold of this handle, it would likely cause quite a bit of trouble.
Besides, the current situation was already troublesome enough.
The control panel of the circulation system suddenly emitted a beep, indicating that the pheromone concentration inside the room had decreased.
Those waiting bitterly outside the door all perked up, staring intently at that tightly closed door.
After a moment, the door was slowly pushed open.
