Sweet O's Report on Post-Marriage Deterioration - Chapter 3
The light inside the room was dim, with only a solitary, subdued floor lamp turned on.
The heavy hotel curtains were carefully drawn shut, blocking out every single ray of light from the outside.
Ruan Nian’s eyelashes fluttered slightly, and he subconsciously shifted his body.
So heavy.
He felt as though he were still in a dream, where a fierce heat had burned him completely dry. A violent Alpha pheromone firmly imprisoned him in a cramped corner. Not a single part of his body felt like his own, and his brain uncontrollably flashed back through fragmented pieces of memory:
Filled with the choking scent of harsh liquor, a storm-like kiss.
For some reason, it was only through this method that Ruan Nian could draw in a tiny breath of oxygen amidst the near suffocation, causing everything to fall apart and rush toward an uncontrollable direction.
Ruan Nian still remembered the other person viciously biting down hard on his gland, the pain of high-concentration Alpha pheromone injecting into his body making him tremble. He cried and wanted to escape, but was tightly imprisoned until the gland marking was completed.
He used all his strength to plead for the Alpha to pull out and not complete the final step. The tall figure paused for a moment, seemingly tamed by the sweet and greasy scent, and finally slowly stopped moving without finishing the ultimate knot.
His crying came in intermittent gasps, changing tone and filled with lingering affection.
Red marks covered the young man all over, the instinctual result of an Alpha’s marking. Yet the force was indeed a bit too much; his fair skin was already tender, and bruises had begun to form on his delicate neck and wrists. Streak after streak, under the warm lamp, they possessed a shattered sense of beauty.
The room was filled with the intertwined scent of sweet milk and harsh liquor, sticking together thickly like a rainforest returning to stillness after a violent storm, the air so damp it could drip water.
Ruan Nian struggled to break free from the chaotic memories, exerting effort to half-open his eyes.
He felt a momentary daze.
Where is this?
He remembered checking into the Buxing Hotel, taking a shower, and planning to bake some small cakes for his older brother. The ingredients were delivered, and then:
And then? What happened after that?
He swallowed with difficulty. His throat was as dry as if it held a ball of fire, yet his lips were not dry at all. Ruan Nian subconsciously licked his lips; they hurt a bit.
He wanted to sit up and properly sort out his thoughts, but could not help letting out a painful gasp.
“Mm.”
This soft gasp of pain, with his voice sticking together like cat claws gently scratching at someone’s heart, sounded exceptionally fragile.
The tiny sound was immediately caught by the Alpha’s sensitive hearing.
Mu Yan’s awkwardness and embarrassment reached their peak in an instant.
The man who, twenty-four hours ago, was conquering and sweeping the chessboard at the negotiating table, and five hours ago was methodically explaining sudden situations and arranging everything, had completely vanished. The Tequila pheromones had just calmed down a bit before surging straight back to the top under his stress response.
Remorse, tension, unease: emotions that would never appear in ordinary times were disrupting his thinking.
He forced himself to calm down, suppressing the Alpha instinct that was frantically screaming for him to turn back and look at the beautiful young man on the bed, and spoke with difficulty.
“You are awake.”
His voice was very low, carrying an imperceptible hoversomeness, yet devoid of a single trace of lingering tenderness.
Serious and cold, it carried the oppression and detachment of someone in a superior position.
Only then did Ruan Nian realize there was another person in the room.
The tall figure had his back turned to him, seemingly adjusting his cuffs.
Ruan Nian faintly saw the shadow of his eldest brother, but quickly dismissed it in his subconscious. The tall Alpha’s every gesture was filled with the nobility and elegance exclusive to aristocrats; his attire was immaculate, looking nothing like someone who had just gone through an intense rut.
The intense aroma of Tequila exploded, yet it gave Ruan Nian a completely different feeling.
The once intense yet more intoxicating liquor scent had turned into a sharp blade. No matter how he tried to feel it, the gentleness hidden beneath the ferocity had faded away, leaving only cold vigilance.
This made Ruan Nian feel even more uncomfortable. An Omega’s estrus period is often longer than an Alpha’s, and the post-bonding period is when they most need the gentle comfort of pheromones.
After waking up, the Alpha was not by his side, and the comforting scent lingering in the air had also been diluted.
He had never wanted to be so weak, but he could not control the double wave of disappointment spreading through his body and mind.
His fingers subconsciously clenched the bedsheets, and the slightly burning gland at the back of his neck transmitted heat along the delicate blood vessels of his neck, burning the corners of his eyes red and filling his bewildered eyes with watery moisture.
His throat felt blocked, unable to emit a single sound in response.
The aroma of sweet milk turned slightly sour, though it was hard to detect mixed in with the strong liquor scent.
Mu Yan did not hear a response from the Omega for a long time.
What expression would he have? Pain? Sadness? Anger?
That soft Omega would surely hate him, his clear eyes filled with disgust and anger toward him. He probably wished he could immediately call the police and send the Alpha who forced him into a regulatory detention center; how could he possibly be willing to have any more communication with him?
At this thought, his heart began to ache.
Mu Yan, who had always been poised, calm, and collected, dared not turn back at this moment to face any possible reaction from an Omega.
He did not understand why he had lost control to this extent, as years of restraint and upbringing vanished completely, turning him into the primal beast he hated most, controlled by pheromones.
Clearly, he had already thought of various feasible solutions and remedial measures, but his mind was in complete turmoil. The expensive fabric under his hands had begun to deform from excessive force, and the pheromone disorder after his rut made his brain feel as though it were being repeatedly hammered with dull pain. Mu Yan took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.
The incident was already irrecoverable, so he would reduce all losses to the minimum.
He would try his best to compensate for this Omega’s pain, even though this could never make up for the harm he had suffered.
“I am very sorry for doing such a thing to you. You can put forward any demands, and I will try my best to satisfy you materially within my capabilities.”
“You can rest in the room. I have already arranged for a vehicle, and once you have rested, I will send you to the hospital as soon as possible. After you have rested, we can come back to discuss legal matters, trying to make both parties achieve a satisfactory result.”
“Of course, if you are willing to settle this privately, a professional team will follow up on the subsequent mark-clearing surgery, and I will take full responsibility for the surgery and postoperative costs.”
“I will give you a sum of money so that your future life will be free from want. I know you are a member of the Ruan family, and someone will discuss commercial cooperation and profit-sharing with the Ruan family’s business department in detail later.”
Even though there were still many compensation terms unsaid, Mu Yan stopped abruptly.
He had made the Omega cry.
The Alpha’s voice was as cold as a machine, a plain narrative lacking any emotion, much like handling discarded items on official business.
An Omega affected by pheromones is naturally fragile and sensitive; Ruan Nian did not want to cry, but Mu Yan’s words were like a pair of hands pulling up by the roots all the fantasies he had once harbored in his heart: fantasies that were too good to reach because they were unlikely to come true.
What he wanted was really so simple.
It was never rare pheromone types, nor the Ruan family’s formidable background and status.
He just wanted to simply and peacefully live his own life. Perhaps in the future, he could also meet a suitable Alpha. Even if their pheromones did not reach the standard to bond, as long as both sides were truly in love, they would surely be able to live a happy and ordinary life.
Yet all of this had vanished into thin air.
It was as if he had returned to that pure white cage, under the surgical lights, without a single shadow capable of accommodating his secretive wishes.
He could only tidy himself up and once again endure a long recovery period.
After the Alpha’s voice stopped, the room was quiet and empty.
The Omega tried his best to hide it, but his broken and faint sobbing sounded like the plaintive cries of a young beast, intermittent and with nowhere to hide.
The natural attraction of the AO marking made him subconsciously stand up and walk closer to the bed.
His Omega had been made to cry by him.
He had covered his face with the quilt, wrapped his arms around his knees, and curled himself into a ball. His shoulders trembled slightly, and his cries were almost inaudible, muffled through the air and fibers.
This sound was magnified many times over in the Alpha’s ears, piercing straight into his heart.
The Alliance popularized comprehensive sex education knowledge across the entire star system, which naturally included how to comfort a marked target.
He, who had always been meticulous, had once earnestly studied the entire process, yet now could not recall a single thing.
His Omega had been made to cry by him.
All the remaining terms in his mind floated up, twisted together messily, and could no longer form complete sentences. The Alpha could only let instinct take control. After a very, very long time, he finally and clumsily hugged his Omega.
The Tequila scent in the air gradually subsided, leaving only a mellow aftertaste with a comforting touch, once again blending with the sweet milk scent.
Ruan Nian lacked the physical strength, crying until he fell asleep amidst the comfort of the Alpha’s pheromones.
He faintly heard the Alpha’s voice softly comforting him by his ear:
“I am sorry. It is my fault. If you are willing, the marriage agreement I drafted is by the bedside.”
