- Surprise! The Fake Heiress is Actually an Ancient Master of Metaphysics!
- Chapter 16 - Seems Like a Brainless One
Zhao Deming nodded repeatedly, “Don’t worry about such a small matter. I’ll arrange it for you right away!”
He warmly invited Tan Lingyin to sit on the sofa. Since she felt there were still many details to discuss, she obliged and took a seat.
Zhao Deming continued, “Given the complexity of your family situation, I’ll arrange for you to be in a different class, separate from Tan Yayue.”
“No need. Put me in the same class as her,” Tan Lingyin refused outright.
Zhao Deming exclaimed in surprise, “How can that work? She’ll surely bully you often!”
Tan Lingyin smiled confidently. “Who do you think could possibly bully me?”
Zhao Deming slapped his thigh. “Master Tan is absolutely right! Look at me—I underestimated you!”
Beside them, the homeroom teacher also sensed that Tan Lingyin was no ordinary student. The principal addressed her as “Master Tan” repeatedly, clearly showing far more respect than he ever did to Madam Tan or Tan Yayue.
Tan Lingyin originally wanted to ask about Zhao Deming’s father and stepmother, but with the homeroom teacher present, it wasn’t appropriate to bring it up directly.
She took out her phone and opened WeChat. “Principal, let’s exchange contact details.”
Zhao Deming nodded eagerly. “Of course, of course! I’d be honored!”
After adding each other, Tan Lingyin said, “Then I’ll return to class now. As for my textbooks and other study materials, please arrange for a new set to be provided.”
Her seat had been taken over by Tan Yayue, so her belongings were likely all discarded.
Zhao Deming quickly agreed, “No problem.”
He turned to the homeroom teacher. “Xiao Liu, please escort Master Tan back to class and arrange a comfortable seat for her. I’ll personally deliver the textbooks and other materials shortly.”
The homeroom teacher, Liu Cheng, nodded blankly. “Alright…”
It wasn’t until they reached the classroom door that Liu Cheng finally snapped out of his daze.
How extraordinary!
He had initially assumed Tan Lingyin was a pitiful orphan kicked out of her family. Who would’ve thought she’d be someone even the principal treated with such reverence?
When Liu Cheng led Tan Lingyin to the classroom door, the noisy room instantly fell silent.
He scanned the room and asked her, “Would you like your original seat back?”
Tan Lingyin glanced at Tan Yayue and then at Li Lele beside her before shaking her head. “No, any corner seat will do.”
Liu Cheng said, “Then take the seat by the window in the last row for now. If it’s uncomfortable, I’ll adjust it later.”
Tan Lingyin thanked him and walked into the classroom.
Tan Yayue stared in disbelief as Tan Lingyin took the seat in the far corner by the window. She immediately raised her hand. “Teacher Liu!”
Standing at the podium, Liu Cheng asked sternly, “What’s your question, student?”
Tan Yayue demanded, “Wasn’t she expelled? Why is she back in our class?”
Liu Cheng replied, “Tan Lingyin was never expelled. She remains a student in this class.”
Tan Yayue gaped at him before blurting out, “The principal clearly expelled her! Teacher Liu, did you make some shady deal with her?”
The classroom erupted in gasps, and the students turned their mocking gazes toward Liu Cheng on the podium.
In their eyes, Liu Cheng was just an employee. The only reason they tolerated his authority was because he was their homeroom teacher.
Apart from being the homeroom teacher, which of these children wasn’t either wealthy or noble?
Liu Cheng flew into a rage, slamming the lectern hard, his face flushed red as he shouted, “Tan Yayue! How dare you speak to a teacher like that?”
On her very first day at this school, Tan Yayue had already felt the fawning admiration from her classmates, especially from Li Lele, who practically wanted to be her lapdog.
She stood up calmly, feigning an air of aloofness, and said, “Mr. Liu, it’s not that I’m making things up. The principal himself said Tan Lingyin was to be expelled. Now you’re keeping her here without permission—didn’t she offer you some kind of benefit?”
Li Lele immediately chimed in, “Exactly! Tan Lingyin is just a poor orphan. How else could she get you to keep her here unless her sugar daddy paid you off?”
Tan Yayue frowned slightly, shooting a glance at Li Lele, disappointment flashing in her eyes.
The “transaction” she had implied wasn’t about money.
This idiot Li Lele couldn’t even play the role of a sycophant properly.
Liu Cheng banged the desk several times in anger, his voice low and stern. “At your age, instead of focusing on your studies, all you think about is prying into other people’s lives. You’re utterly hopeless!”
The sharp slaps against the desk silenced the classroom instantly.
The homeroom teacher’s anger made some students nervous—after all, their families expected them to study hard. Getting their parents called in would be disastrous.
Tan Yayue’s expression shifted, and she redirected her attack toward Tan Lingyin. “Lingyin, I know you don’t want to leave. After all, everyone here is wealthy. If you go, you’ll never have a chance to mingle with us again…”
Tan Lingyin simply watched her play the innocent victim, her gaze lazily sweeping over Tan Yayue from head to toe.
Had it only been two days since she left the Tan family? Tan Yayue’s condition had already deteriorated like this?
How amusing.
Tan Yayue lifted a hand to wipe nonexistent tears. “But you shouldn’t have sold yourself—sold your body! Mr. Liu is a married man!”
The two sentences sent shockwaves through the entire class.
“Holy shit!”
“Is that true?”
“The homeroom teacher actually…”
Whispers erupted like a swarm of buzzing bees.
Tan Lingyin propped her chin on her hand, watching Tan Yayue with deep, inscrutable amusement in her eyes.
“Tan Yayue!!!” Liu Cheng roared furiously. “How dare you spout such nonsense!”
“Spreading baseless rumors—your parents will be coming to school tomorrow!”
Tan Yayue’s mind buzzed. She didn’t even know why she had blurted out those words in front of everyone.
Before coming to school, she had resolved to act like a proper young lady—graceful, refined, never raising her voice.
But just now, a surge of heat had rushed to her head, and the words had tumbled out uncontrollably.
“Teacher, I—I misspoke. I’m sorry!”
Tan Yayue hurriedly bowed in apology, her head hanging low.
Li Lele stood dumbfounded beside her. She hadn’t expected the real Tan heiress to be so bold—clearly, she had no brains.
If she played her cards right, she could definitely benefit from sucking up to Tan Yayue.
“Come on, move these things inside.” The voice of Zhao Deming, the principal, sounded at the classroom door.
Liu Cheng immediately walked over. “Principal, you’re here.”
Zhao Deming said with a smile, “Yes, I’m here to deliver school supplies to Tan… to Tan Lingyin. Where is she?”
Tan Lingyin raised her hand. “Here.”
Zhao Deming immediately beamed and said, “Quick, take the things over to her.”
