- Chapter 15 - I’ll Leave It to You!
Tanya Yue immediately frowned, her fingers clenching tightly. “Did you see it with your own eyes?”
Li Lele nodded repeatedly. “Of course! The driver was even a decent-looking young guy!”
“But he definitely wasn’t a student—probably some older man.”
Before, she had fawned over Tan Lingyin, but now that she had the chance to trample over her, she wasn’t about to let it slip.
Li Lele exaggerated further, “You wouldn’t believe it—after getting out of the car, they were all reluctant to say goodbye. If it weren’t for the school gate, I bet they would’ve kissed!”
Tan Lingyin stood at the classroom door and spoke calmly, “Li Lele, words have consequences. Spreading rumors and fabricating lies—you’d better watch out for misfortune raining down on you.”
Li Lele scoffed. “Hah! You think you’re still the Tan family’s precious daughter? Who’d even bother making up rumors about you?”
“Exactly! Li Lele wouldn’t say this for no reason!”
“Tan Lingyin, why don’t you just scram? Stop blocking our classroom door—what bad luck!”
“You’ve already been expelled. Get lost already!”
The class erupted in jeers, with some even throwing pencils and erasers at Tan Lingyin.
She blocked them all effortlessly with her canvas bag.
Tan Yayue spoke slowly, “Lingyin, I know you hate me. You think I stole the privileged life that was rightfully yours.”
“But I’m a victim too…”
“I was kidnapped as a child and suffered endlessly, while you enjoyed eighteen years of luxury without a care.”
“The life you lived should have been mine!”
Her voice trembled with sorrow, her eyes reddening.
Suddenly, Tan Yayue stood up and strode toward Tan Lingyin.
From her designer purse, she pulled out a stack of cash and held it out. “I know you’re struggling after being kicked out, but no matter how hard things get, you shouldn’t resort to being a gold digger!”
“Take this money. Whenever you’re short, you can come to me.”
“After all, you were once Mom and Dad’s child too. My heart aches for you…”
Tan Lingyin glanced at the money—no more than ten thousand yuan.
Not even worth the two hairpins in Tan Yayue’s hair.
She looked up at the hypocritical girl and studied her face with detached amusement.
The more she observed, the more she wanted to laugh.
Seeing her smile, Tan Yayue pressed the money into her arms. “Lingyin, take it. Find a place to stay—I’ll come visit you.”
Tan Lingyin waved her hand, knocking the cash to the ground.
Bright red bills fluttered down, scattering across the classroom doorway.
“Tan Lingyin, what are you doing?!” Li Lele rushed over, shielding Tan Yayue. “She gives you money, and you try to hit her?”
Tan Lingyin burst into laughter. “What a loyal guard dog, protecting its master so fiercely?”
“Who are you calling a dog?!” Li Lele shrieked.
Tan Lingyin yawned. “Whoever’s standing in the way, obviously~”
Li Lele fumed. “You’re like the dog that bit Lü Dongbin—you can’t recognize kindness!”
She grabbed Tan Yayue’s arm. “Yayue, someone like her deserves to starve on the streets. Feeding stray dogs would be better than giving her money.”
Tan Lingyin smirked. “Then why don’t you pick up the bills on the floor?”
Li Lele: “……”
“Tan Lingyin! I’ll tear your mouth apart!”
She lunged at her, but Tan Lingyin easily dodged.
Just then, the homeroom teacher arrived, and Li Lele immediately backed off.
The teacher looked at the scattered bills on the floor and asked sternly, “What’s going on here?”
Li Lele instantly played the loyal tattletale: “It’s Tan Lingyin! Yayue kindly gave her money, but she attacked Yayue, and that’s why it ended up all over the floor!”
The homeroom teacher was already aware of the identities of Tan Yayue and Tan Lingyin.
Frowning, he turned to Tan Lingyin and said, “Tan Lingyin, you’re sisters after all. How could you resort to violence?”
“Teacher, you can check the surveillance footage. I really didn’t lay a hand on her,” Tan Lingyin pointed to the camera in the corner of the classroom.
Hearing this, Li Lele suddenly looked uneasy, and Tan Yayue pressed her lips together, not daring to speak.
Seeing their expressions shift, the teacher began to understand.
He said to Tan Lingyin, “Tan Lingyin, I’m aware of the situation between you and Tan Yayue. Come with me for a moment.”
Turning to the class, he added, “Start your morning self-study. I’ll be back soon.”
Tan Lingyin followed the teacher out.
The teacher’s office was in another building—the same one where the principal’s office was located.
Once inside, the teacher spoke earnestly, “Child, you know you’ve been expelled from the school, right?”
Tan Lingyin nodded. “My classmates already told me.”
The teacher gave a slight nod and said seriously, “I’ve always noticed how hard you work in your studies. I’ve pulled some strings to get you into another regular high school as a transfer student. You can still take the college entrance exams there. What do you think?”
Tan Lingyin had always known her homeroom teacher was a kind man, but she hadn’t expected him to go this far for her.
Politely, she replied, “Thank you for your consideration, Teacher, but I don’t think I need to transfer. I just need to see the principal.”
The teacher frowned instantly. “The principal?”
Lowering his voice, he said, “Don’t you know? Your mother—your adoptive mother—went straight to the principal. It was the principal who expelled you!”
But Tan Lingyin remained firm. “Please take me to see him.”
The teacher sighed helplessly. “Fine, I’ll take you there now.”
They went upstairs to the principal’s office on the top floor.
The teacher knocked, and a steady male voice responded, “Come in.”
Pushing the door open, the teacher said with a smile, “Principal, Tan Lingyin insisted on seeing you, so I brought her here…”
Zhao Deming, who had been sitting in his chair deep in thought, looked up and saw Tan Lingyin. His face lit up. “Master Tan! You’ve finally come!”
Earlier that morning, Madam Tan had arrived with Tan Yayue, demanding that Tan Lingyin be replaced and that the tuition fees be redirected to Yayue’s education.
At first, Zhao Deming thought it was just a case of identical names, but when he opened the student records, the photo was unmistakably the girl from yesterday.
Unable to withstand Madam Tan’s loud complaints and constant belittling of Tan Lingyin, Zhao Deming had agreed.
After all, as the principal, expulsion was just a word from him—and so was reinstatement.
Recalling Tan Lingyin’s words about their shared fate, it seemed she had foreseen this very situation.
Overcome with excitement, Zhao Deming hurried around his desk, his demeanor nothing short of reverent and humble in her presence.
The homeroom teacher watched from the side, utterly dumbfounded.
Tan Lingyin smiled gently and said, “Principal, I’ll leave the matter of my continued studies here in your capable hands.”
