Superstar Assistant [GL] - Chapter 54
Chapter 54
In the backstage of the fan meeting, a monitor displayed the surveillance footage from inside the venue.
Zhao Qing looked tearfully at the fans happily taking the pastries, biting her sleeve and crying, “Wuwuwu, I really lost a fortune today. Why is it her fan meeting but I have to provide the ‘warmth’?”
Just as she finished, the voices of Dong Minsi and Li Ziyu came from outside. Zhao Qing immediately straightened her back, her gaze turning cold and aloof, as if the crying mess from a second ago never existed.
Li Ziyu and Dong Minsi entered the lounge. Ziyu immediately sat next to Zhou Tiantian, leaning on her shoulder with a sigh. “I’m exhausted. This is more tiring than filming. You have to reward me well.”
Zhou Tiantian replied in a soft, cool voice, “This is your own fan meeting and career. Why should I reward you?”
Li Ziyu grumbled, “If you hadn’t suggested it, why would I have held this meeting?”
Zhao Qing couldn’t hold it in anymore and said coldly, “You made a killing today and you have the nerve to call it tiring? I’m the one who should be crying.”
Li Ziyu replied, “I helped you get on the hot search for free. What more do you want? Other restaurants would have to spend a fortune to buy that kind of exposure.”
Zhao Qing sneered, “Thanks, but does my restaurant’s niche really need a hot search? I doubt many of your fans can even afford to eat at my place.”
Dong Minsi watched them bicker with a gentle smile. “But Miss Zhao, the ‘Easter egg’ you gave the fans at the end was truly powerful. Before the fans even left the venue, it was already trending. If it had been any other snack, it wouldn’t have had this effect.”
Zhao Qing’s tone softened imperceptibly. “Mm. Next time you have a fan meeting, I’ll provide the same benefit for your fans.”
Dong Minsi immediately cheered.
Li Ziyu usually found it fun to watch them “act,” but seeing too much of it made her bored. She said, “If you two are done, can you leave? You’re blocking me from saying sweet nothings to Tiantian.”
Zhou Tiantian’s ears turned red. She pushed Li Ziyu, but couldn’t move her.
Zhao Qing stood up. “I don’t want to watch you show off your love either.” She then looked at Dong Minsi. “Miss Dong, are you hungry? Want to go get some late-night snacks?”
Dong Minsi, who was currently on a diet, hid her bitterness behind a joyful smile. “Sure, I’m actually starving.”
After they left, Li Ziyu said to Zhou Tiantian, “Let’s go too.”
Zhou Tiantian turned and looked at her seriously. Li Ziyu’s heart skipped a beat as she smiled. “What’s wrong?”
Zhou Tiantian sighed. “You know I don’t like it when you show off our affection in public, yet you did it throughout the entire stage today. Aren’t you afraid the fans will find out about us?”
Li Ziyu coaxed her, “You didn’t see how many CP-related questions were on that board. Besides, isn’t this subculture very popular right now? The company actually wants to hype it up.”
Zhou Tiantian said, “But their hype is fake. Ours is real. If we’re discovered…”
“How would we be discovered?” Li Ziyu placed her hand on Zhou Tiantian’s belly, comforting her softly. “You’re about to give birth; you can’t get angry now. Think of the baby. And you know how fandom works—sometimes when you ‘sell’ a CP like this, they are more likely to believe it’s just a company persona or hype. Being secretive only makes them more suspicious.”
Zhou Tiantian couldn’t deny that Li Ziyu was right, but thinking about her embarrassed state on stage made her face turn red again. “Regardless, you can’t do this anymore.”
Li Ziyu looked at her blushing face and gave her a kiss. “So you’re only angry because you’re shy, right?”
Zhou Tiantian glared at her and looked away. Li Ziyu could only use sweet words to half-force her into the van to go home and rest.
After that, Li Ziyu’s schedule slowly thinned out, leaving her most of her time to stay home with Zhou Tiantian. However, she even stopped posting on Weibo, which immediately drew complaints from Luo Na.
One morning, after breakfast, Zhou Tiantian was sitting on the sofa watching TV while Li Ziyu sat beside her, engrossed in a parenting book.
“I’ll make you boiled fish (Shuizhu Yu) for lunch. Haven’t you been craving spicy food lately?” Li Ziyu asked.
Since getting pregnant, Zhou Tiantian’s tolerance and craving for spicy food had increased significantly. She nodded, then looked at Li Ziyu. “You haven’t posted on Weibo in a week.”
Li Ziyu sighed, rested her chin on Tiantian’s shoulder, and whispered into her ear, “Aren’t I on vacation?”
Zhou Tiantian tilted her head and pushed her, but couldn’t get her off. “But you don’t have any other activities. If you don’t post, you’ll vanish from the fans’ sight.”
Li Ziyu was still reluctant. Zhou Tiantian thought for a moment and sighed, “Fine. It seems the baby’s formula money will have to rely on me.”
Li Ziyu sat up straight, her obsidian eyes staring at Tiantian. She stood up with a cold smirk. “How could I, Li Ziyu, let my wife earn the formula money! You just stay home and nurse the baby; the formula money is my responsibility!”
Then she headed for the kitchen.
Zhou Tiantian watched her tall figure and covered her mouth to hide a secret smile.
A moment later, a faint spicy aroma drifted from the kitchen. Zhou Tiantian took out her phone and opened Weibo. Sure enough, a special notification informed her that Li Ziyu had posted.
She clicked it and saw a short video of Li Ziyu making boiled fish. The video was fine, but the caption made Zhou Tiantian facepalm. The phrase ‘Sour for boys, Spicy for girls’ was far too glaring!
The next second, Zhou Tiantian received a call from Luo Na.
Luo Na sounded like she was about to cry. “Is Ziyu insane?! Is she afraid people don’t know the baby in your belly is hers?”
Zhou Tiantian wanted to cry too, quickly apologizing. “I didn’t know she would post that. I just told her she hadn’t posted in a while.”
Luo Na rubbed her temples. “Tiantian, I can’t control her anymore. I’m relying on you. You have a baby to back you up now—seriously, don’t go easy on her. Just beat her up.”
Zhou Tiantian: “…”
Luo Na continued, “No need to save face for her. She has no schedule lately anyway; a good beating at home is fine. Otherwise, she won’t know what pain feels like!”
Zhou Tiantian: “…”
Luo Na: “Tiantian, promise me, you must hit her!”
Zhou Tiantian: “…Uh, okay.”
“Then let it be. Ignore the internet, let the CP fans enjoy themselves. As long as you don’t admit it publicly, I’ll be satisfied.” Luo Na finally hung up.
By this time, Li Ziyu had brought the boiled fish to the table. Han Ping also brought out the other dishes and called them to eat. At the table, Li Ziyu first picked the most tender pieces of fish for Tiantian before asking, “Who was on the phone?”
Zhou Tiantian glared at her. “Who else? Sister Luo called to scold you. She said your Weibo post is asking for trouble and told me to give you a beating.”
Han Ping hurriedly said, “No hitting, no hitting! She’s a star; it wouldn’t look good if rumors of domestic violence got out.”
Li Ziyu smiled and agreed, “Mm, Mom is right. You can’t commit domestic violence against me.”
Li Ziyu had been calling Han Ping “Mom” for almost a month now, but Han Ping was still a bit unused to it.
Zhou Tiantian looked at Li Ziyu through gritted teeth. “Can’t you just be a normal celebrity? Or maybe give the company control over your Weibo.”
Li Ziyu said, “No. And I’m really being wronged here. Look at my comments and reposts—the CP fans are always like that, but I didn’t guide the other fans. You clearly didn’t watch my video, so you’re talking nonsense again.”
Zhou Tiantian took her phone and played the video again. Sure enough, at the end of the video, Li Ziyu said, “My dark cuisine is back.”
Opening the comments, those focused on the caption had very “CP-heavy” usernames, while the other fans were just howling.
“Why are you showing me this at noon! This show-off needs to be dragged out and burned!”
Li Ziyu looked proudly at Tiantian. “See? I’m smart, right?”
Zhou Tiantian glared at her, not knowing what to say.
Li Ziyu teased, “Stop staring. If you stare more, you’ll get pregnant.”
Zhou Tiantian’s face turned red as she lowered her head to eat in silence. Han Ping watched the two of them bickering like a normal couple, her smile deepening.
After Li Ziyu posted the ‘Sour for boys, Spicy for girls’ Weibo, neither the company nor Zhou Tiantian dared to push her to post more frequently. This person was very vengeful; who knew what she would post next time!
Li Ziyu actually loved her current life. She wanted to be all mushy with Zhou Tiantian forever. Unless she could show off their love during an event, she’d rather just show off to herself at home.
As the delivery date approached, Zhou Tiantian had been resting at home. She finally wasn’t just growing a belly—her face had also filled out with some “baby fat.”
Li Ziyu stroked her soft face and whispered in her ear, “Are you a C or a D now?”
Zhou Tiantian stood up abruptly, her eyes flashing. “YOU! What are you saying!”
“Oh, nothing.” However, Li Ziyu’s gaze slowly drifted to Tiantian’s chest.
Zhou Tiantian’s face was about to explode. “YOU! You’re a pervert!”
Li Ziyu smirked with a hint of mischief. “That’s right, a pervert just for you. Will the lady let the pervert have her way?”
Zhou Tiantian turned and went upstairs. “I’m going to sleep.”
Han Ping saw her storming upstairs and asked in confusion, “What happened?”
Zhou Tiantian blushed and didn’t speak. Li Ziyu stood up to follow her. “Mom, she said she wants me to go upstairs with her and… well.”
Han Ping felt awkward too. “Then… I’ll go back to my room as well.”
As she closed the door, she could still hear Zhou Tiantian’s embarrassed and angry voice: “Li Ziyu, are you ever going to stop being annoying!”
Li Ziyu pushed her into the bedroom and laughed. “Mm, I’m extremely annoying. I’m the most annoying person ever.” Then she hugged Tiantian tightly and whispered, “Mm, it really is soft.”
Zhou Tiantian buried her head in Li Ziyu’s shoulder, her whole body practically smoking from embarrassment! How could a girl be as perverted as Li Ziyu!
Zhou Tiantian had only recently realized that letting Li Ziyu stay idle at home was a massive mistake!
While she was feeling troubled, Zhao Qing came over and saved her.
Li Ziyu clung to Zhou Tiantian, looking at Zhao Qing with a very unwelcoming side-eye. “Don’t you have food to cook? What are you doing here?”
Zhao Qing was between laughter and tears. “As expected, once you have a wife, you forget your childhood friends. Don’t you know my birthday is coming up?”
Li Ziyu calculated the date and frowned. “But Tiantian will be giving birth then. Are you coming to the hospital?”
Zhao Qing let out a whine as if she were about to cry. “Wow, how can you be so heartless! I was planning to confess on my birthday—aren’t you going to come support me?”
Li Ziyu smirked and threatened, “Oh? You want her ‘scandalous CP partner’ to support your confession? Aren’t you afraid she’ll be torn between us? I don’t think I’d lose to you.”
“GET OUT!” Zhao Qing collapsed. “Tiantian, please control her!”
Zhou Tiantian gave a soft smile. She thought it was good that Ziyu could shift the focus. Zhao Qing put down her birthday invitation. “I… I have poor taste in friends!”
Li Ziyu finally got serious. “Alright, I’m done teasing. If Tiantian is doing okay then, we should be able to go.”
Zhao Qing felt relieved, but Li Ziyu’s next words made her uneasy. “But have you thought about what you’ll do if you fail?”
Zhao Qing froze and pouted. “Then I’ll head far away, move abroad, and never come back!”
