Studying Is Such A Damn Thing - Chapter 24
The water came to a boil, and You Cheche went to the condiment station to mix his dipping sauce.
Shen Yiyi blanched a piece of beef tripe for him, it was crisp, fragrant, and delicious. They ate happily.
The next day, at the flag-raising ceremony.
After the music ended, the six of them were called up one by one to deliver their self-reflection speeches.
Qi Yuan stepped onto the stage amidst a wave of cheers and shouts from the crowd below.
“Hello everyone, I’m Qi Yuan from Class 2-4. I’m very happy to be standing up here to communicate with you all. I shouldn’t have skipped school to play games at the internet cafe. Of course, I only skipped class to play games, though I wonder when I’ll ever get caught and dragged up here for something like ‘early love,’ no comment on that one.
Speaking of which, games are actually really fun. For example, PUBG, the thrill of teamwork and tension, you can experience the joy of a gunfight in seconds. When the sound of bullets firing hits your headphones, it’s the most beautiful sound in the world, bar none. It’s stunning!
Alright, I’m getting off track. Regarding skipping school for games, I’ve deeply realized my mistake, but whether I’ll do it again next time, well, that’s not certain. Running laps on the playground is simply not a punishment meant for humans. After finishing those laps, I felt like my legs weren’t legs anymore, but just two sticks shoved into my body. So, I’m asking the Dean not to make me run laps in the future, maybe we could switch things up next time?”
Below the stage, You Cheche was laughing so hard he could barely breathe. Shen Yiyi supported him helplessly. “Laugh slower, don’t choke!”
Song Chaolian looked at the stage, then glanced at the crowd, his mouth twitching. He wondered how he ended up with two such idiotic childhood friends.
Meanwhile, the rest of the school was more or less like You Cheche, unable to stop laughing.
Toward the end, one particular sentence from Qi Yuan set the whole crowd off into a wild roar.
“Actually, while I was at the internet cafe that day, I heard some news. Honestly, Lin Ruinuo, you’re a bit of a scumbag. Not only did you bully Tan Qing, but you also wanted to mess with You Cheche. Sorry, but if you want to touch You Cheche, you have to go through me first. To say something a bit ambiguous, You Cheche is my person, don’t even think about touching him. Or to put it more bluntly, touching him is the same as touching me.”
“Pfft,” Qi Yuan’s laughter, which he could no longer hold back, came clearly through the microphone.
He continued in a nonchalant tone, “Touching me means death, do you understand? Can I get some applause for that?”
“Aaaaaahhh!” The crowd erupted in thunderous applause.
Seventeen and eighteen-year-old kids are always a mix of “chunibyo” drama and silliness. Yet, in that dramatic flair, there was a strangely lingering sense of passion.
Qi Yuan smiled again. “Next time you see me reading a self-reflection, please shout ‘Brother Yuan is the GOAT’ from down there. That’s all for my reflection, thank you everyone.”
The Dean was already fuming, his head practically smoking as he cursed from below, “Qi Yuan! You’re getting a formal demerit on your record!!!!”
Qi Yuan shrugged. “Whatever~”
Song Chaolian watched him, frowning. “So rude, don’t do that next time!”
Qi Yuan nodded. “Got it, Father Song!”
You Cheche also went up to read his reflection. However, because he had copied an AI-generated one that Shen Yiyi sent him, it was much more serious.
But thanks to Qi Yuan’s antics, the crowd kept cheering and hooting. The loudest chant was “Yuan-Che Forever!”
You Cheche’s face turned bright red as he read.
Below the stage, Qi Yuan watched with a look of success, a sly smile on his face. He silently gave himself a mental “victory” sign.
The love of a teenage boy, so! Very! Childish!
Meanwhile, Lin Ruinuo was radiating a cold aura, staring gloomily at You Cheche with a sour expression. His knuckles were white from clenching his fists, his mind screaming.
You Cheche, fine, I’ll remember you. You and Qi Yuan, both of you, deserve to die!
The day passed quickly. Today was Qi Yuan’s turn for classroom duty, so he didn’t walk home with You Cheche after school.
You Cheche was swiping through his phone when it suddenly vibrated and shut down. He sighed inwardly, Just my luck.
He stuffed the phone into his pocket and walked alone into the dark night.
As he passed a dark alleyway, a pair of hands suddenly reached out, covered his mouth, and dragged him inside.
“Mmph! Mmph!” You Cheche didn’t exercise much, and since the other person was quite burly, he couldn’t break free at all.
