Studying Is Such A Damn Thing - Chapter 23
The Dean stood nearby, his face turning a sickly shade of green. Watching the group chat away as if he didn’t even exist, his fists clenched so hard the veins on his arms were bulging.
“You lot! Do you even see me as a teacher? Add another five laps!”
When You Cheche heard that, he nearly choked on his own spit. “What? More running? I’m literally dying over here, “
Li Yuyu was also gasping for air, his steps becoming a bit unsteady.
Tang Yuwei had been by Li Yuyu’s side the entire time, watching the two of them chat with a gentle look in his eyes. Noticing Li Yuyu’s heavy breathing, his ears slowly began to redden. “Are you holding up okay? Do you want me to hold your hand?”
Exhausted beyond belief, Li Yuyu didn’t think much of it and nodded in agreement.
Tang Yuwei took Li Yuyu’s hand, slowly tightening his grip. The warmth from his palm seemed to flow straight to the other’s heart.
Watching the two of them, You Cheche felt like a glowing third wheel. He silently slowed his pace, bowing out of their romantic moment.
Qi Yuan lapped You Cheche and asked in surprise, “Wait, man? When did you catch up to me?!”
You Cheche’s composure crumbled. “I’m being lapped by you! Is that funny to you?!”
Qi Yuan wore a wide grin as he looked at You Cheche, his tone becoming teasingly affectionate. “It’s not funny, not funny at all. Hey, if you call me ‘big brother,’ I’ll stay behind and run with you, okay?”
You Cheche rolled his eyes. “Get lost! Big brother? As if! Ptooey!”
Qi Yuan laughed even harder. “Just say it once and I’ll stick with you, how about it?”
“Brother, brother, brother, brother! Are you satisfied now?!” You Cheche snapped.
“Satisfied, satisfied! Come on, Cheche, I’ll run with you!”
True to his word, Qi Yuan slowed down to match his pace.
With two laps left, Shen Yiyi looked back and saw that the Dean had finally left. He slowed down as well. Seeing this, Song Chaolian asked, “What’s wrong? Getting tired?”
“Nah, the Dean’s gone, no need to try so hard anymore,” Shen Yiyi said with a rare, playful smirk.
Song Chaolian stared blankly at that smile for a long moment, completely dazed.
“Ah!” You Cheche cried out from behind.
Shen Yiyi spun around to see that he had stepped on his own shoelaces and taken a tumble.
Qi Yuan practically forced the boy into his arms, carrying him to the side to check the wound.
Cradled in Qi Yuan’s arms, You Cheche’s nose was filled with the other’s scent, it was faint and actually smelled quite nice.
“Hey! I’m seriously fine! Put me down! I’m a guy, and you’re carrying me like this!”
“You Cheche, you’re hurt. If you keep making a fuss, I’m going to shut you up with a kiss,” Qi Yuan said coldly, taking the chance to gross him out.
Sure enough, You Cheche looked like he had just eaten something foul and shut his mouth instantly.
When they pulled up his pant leg, there was a nasty scrape.
Qi Yuan frowned, looking genuinely distressed.
You Cheche patted him and said, “Let’s go? To the infirmary? We can use it as an excuse to ditch?”
Frowning, Qi Yuan nodded and picked You Cheche up again, heading toward the infirmary.
Shen Yiyi and the others finished their laps and came over, looking just as worried. You Cheche waved them off, signaling for them to follow along.
By the time the wound was treated, it was nearly evening. The group headed to a mall and walked into a hot pot restaurant, ready for a change of flavor.
After ordering, You Cheche poked at his dipping sauce with his chopsticks, mumbling, “Yiyi, how am I supposed to write this self-reflection essay, “
Shen Yiyi looked up, appearing to think seriously. “Well, given your skill level, I’d suggest looking into AI, “
Everyone burst out laughing.
You Cheche chuckled, “Hey! I’m a web novel author! Are you insulting my professional honor?!”
Shen Yiyi bit her chopstick while scrolling through her phone. “I sent the content of the essay to you. Just go back and copy it down.”
You Cheche looked deeply moved. “Waaaah! I love you!”
Shen Yiyi broke into a smile, while Qi Yuan’s expression immediately darkened.
