Straight Corporate Slave Accidentally Stumbles into the School's F4 - Chapter 21
Chapter 21
So you’ve been waiting for me all along?
The moment Ferrio heard Qiao Nai call out his own name with his own lips, he realized something was wrong.
No wonder he felt Qiao Nai had been acting strange these past few days; before, Qiao Nai would tremble upon seeing him, but lately, it was as if he had transformed. At first, he thought he was overthinking it—that perhaps Qiao Nai had simply undergone a personality shift but he never expected the real reason was that Qiao Nai had mistaken him for someone else.
Ferrio still wore a faint smile on his face, but the veins on his neck were prominently bulging.
Yes.
He was enduring it.
It turned out he was the one being kept in the dark.
But who did Qiao Nai take him for?
Although they were from the same university, they weren’t at the same campus; one was in the north and the other in the south, separated by over ten kilometers. He had only seen Qiao Nai two or three times before through Yun Cheng and the others, and that was it.
He hadn’t expected Qiao Nai’s memory to be so poor that after meeting two or three times, he still didn’t recognize him, didn’t even know his real name, and had mistaken him for someone else.
Ferrio’s knuckles made a cracking sound as he clenched his fingers.
“Have you never heard of Ferrio?” As the party involved, Qiao Nai didn’t sense anything was amiss and was instead talking eloquently: “Do you want to hear? I’ve heard many things about him, each one more explosive than the last.”
“Never heard of him, don’t know him.” Ferrio was calm and collected, with no out-of-place expression on his face, as if he truly wasn’t Ferrio: “I want to hear. Tell me.”
The window of the storage room wasn’t tightly closed, and occasionally people would pass by in the hallway.
Talking about someone behind their back shouldn’t be heard by others. Qiao Nai had never discussed others before and only had experience being discussed by others; however, since this young master, who paid him two thousand dollars a day, wanted to hear it, he had to be duty-bound!
Qiao Nai turned and pulled the window shut to prevent passersby from hearing: “I heard this young master is stubborn and particularly extravagant, with a super explosive temper.”
“Don’t let his exceptionally good looks fool you; in reality, he’s a huge playboy. One girlfriend a day is a conservative estimate.” Qiao Nai tried hard to recall the posts he had seen about Ferrio on the campus forum, and whatever left a deep impression, he blurted it out: “I also heard his personality is very difficult to deal with. If someone makes him even slightly unhappy, he’ll call people to get revenge.”
“Even though he looks quite handsome, his height is only 1.7 meters.” Qiao Nai remembered someone on the forum mentioning Ferrio’s height, but he couldn’t remember clearly, so he made one up: “My cousin in sixth grade is almost 1.8 meters; he’s not even as tall as a primary schooler.”
“Have you seen him?” Ferrio arched an eyebrow, finding that listening to someone discuss himself wasn’t as bad as he imagined—in fact, it was somewhat exciting.
“I haven’t seen him, but these things are all true.”
If they were false, Ferrio probably would have had the forum shut down long ago.
“Oh, so he’s that cunning.” Ferrio pressed his tongue against his cheek.
Qiao Nai nodded: “Yes, in the future, if you see him, stay far away. Otherwise, just accidentally moving in front of him might cause trouble.”
“Okay.”
Ferrio suddenly asked: “What do you usually call me?”
“What do I call you?” Qiao Nai scratched his neck, feeling a bit itchy on his body since just now: “I call you Lio.”
Yun Cheng and the others all call him Lio; it should be fine if I call him that too, right? Qiao Nai thought to himself.
Seeing this, Ferrio nodded. He finally knew why Qiao Nai had been mistaking him for someone else all this time.
This was the first time he had experienced being mistaken for someone else; in the past, it was always him mistaking or not knowing others. Now the situation was reversed. Rationally, given his explosive temper, he would certainly feel impatient or angry about this. But experiencing it personally, especially when the person in front of him was someone he had feelings for, everything became irrational.
He seemed able to accept this misunderstanding, and he liked Qiao Nai scolding him.
“So many people are surrounding him, don’t you want to go take a look?” Ferrio said.
“I do.”
But wasn’t I suddenly called over by you? Even if I want to see, I can’t!
“Then why didn’t you go to the South Gate to look just now?”
Qiao Nai really wanted to tell the truth, but thinking of his two-thousand-dollar daily wage, he obediently swapped to another reason: “It’s working hours, I can’t slack off.”
“So you’ve been waiting for me all along?” Ferrio asked.
“Yes, I’ve been waiting for you all along,” Qiao Nai answered with a very sincere nod.
“What were you doing while waiting for me?” Ferrio noticed the red spots on Qiao Nai’s neck: “What’s wrong with your neck? It’s so red.”
Hearing this, Qiao Nai finally realized something was wrong.
No wonder he felt itchy all over just now, especially on his neck, which was exposed to the air.
“I drank a cup of oat milk while waiting for you just now.” Qiao Nai felt increasingly itchy and very uncomfortable.
It seemed that his allergy to oats had carried over as well.
“Was there something dirty in it?” Ferrio narrowed his eyes: “Where did you buy it?”
“I didn’t buy it, Kablai bought it. I don’t know which shop it was from.” Qiao Nai tried to push Ferrio away. He didn’t know if the air in the storage room was too damp, but he was having a bit of trouble breathing now: “It should be an allergy, it’s fine.”
“You’re allergic to oats?”
By now, Qiao Nai’s face was covered in a layer of red. Ferrio stepped aside and pulled the window open.
“Yeah, a bit.” With the window open, a cool breeze blew in. Qiao Nai leaned by the window and finally felt a bit better.
“Don’t drink things randomly in the future,” Ferrio said in a deep voice: “And don’t drink what others give you.”
Qiao Nai didn’t think much of it and just nodded.
“Do you still feel uncomfortable now?” Ferrio leaned against the wall and looked down at Qiao Nai’s cheeks and neck.
The weather had been bad lately, exceptionally cold for mid-winter. Qiao Nai had been wearing a scarf before coming to the storage room with Ferrio, and he had only taken it off a few minutes ago.
It was then that Ferrio noticed Qiao Nai’s abnormality.
Qiao Nai was born fair; his symptoms when sick were infinitely magnified compared to others. For example, with a fever, others would have a hot forehead and red cheeks, but Qiao Nai was different. An ordinary fever could make his whole person look like he was burnt through—not just his face would be red and hot, but even his neck and body would be red and hot. His ears, especially, looked as if they were about to drip blood.
It looked very uncomfortable.
In fact, it truly was very uncomfortable.
Like right now.
“A bit uncomfortable.” Qiao Nai took his scarf, wanting to put it back on: “But it’s fine. There’s allergy medicine in the medical kit at home. I’ll take one when I get back.”
“Qiao An.” Ferrio called out to him, took the scarf from his palm, and personally wrapped it around Qiao Nai’s neck.
Ferrio had been resistant to the cold since childhood; no matter how cold it was, he would wear short sleeves and rarely wore thick clothes, almost never having used a scarf. When helping Qiao Nai tie the scarf, he could only go by feeling.
Once tied, it looked very bulky and let the wind through.
Qiao Nai couldn’t help but chuckle: “Thanks, it’s quite warm.”
“…” Ferrio unfastened it the same way he put it on: “Forget it, tie it yourself.”
Qiao Nai took the scarf, only to see Ferrio turning to leave: “You…”
“I’m going out for a bit, I’ll be back soon.” Ferrio put on his baseball cap and pressed down the brim. When he reached the door, he looked back at Qiao Nai: “Stay here and don’t move. Don’t go out.”
Before Qiao Nai had time to nod, Ferrio had already gone out and closed the door.
