Straight Corporate Slave Accidentally Stumbles into the School's F4 - Chapter 20
Chapter 20
Why is your face so red?
“Qiao, are you okay? Why is your face so red?” Someone from the club walked over, fanning Qiao Nai with a script to try and cool him down.
“Thanks, I’m fine.” Qiao Nai had almost bitten his tongue until it bled; that cunning image of Ferrio still hadn’t vanished.
“Qiao Nai!” Seeing this, Yun Cheng felt something was wrong and was about to rush over when he was suddenly bumped into.
“Sorry, sorry.” The person who bumped him didn’t even have time to look at him, hurriedly apologized twice, and left in a rush.
“Eh, what’s going on?” This morning his foot was accidentally stepped on, and now his shoulder was accidentally bumped; Yun Cheng felt he should have checked the almanac before coming out.
“It seems like some internet celebrity or star is coming to the South Gate.” Kablai had just returned from buying coffee for the department members. As soon as he entered, he saw a crowd gathered, though he didn’t know exactly who had arrived. “It’s quite lively.”
“Even so, they shouldn’t bump into people.” Yun Cheng took the coffee and downed half the cup in one go.
Kablai smiled, distributed the coffees one by one, and brought the last cup to Qiao Nai: “Qiao An, I specifically ordered oat milk for you, with two spoons of sugar.”
Qiao An wasn’t used to drinking coffee. Whether it was an Americano or a Latte, no matter how many spoons of sugar were in it, it was ridiculously bitter to him; he couldn’t swallow it no matter what. Every time everyone else drank coffee, Qiao An always held a cup of hot oat milk.
But Qiao Nai was exactly the opposite; he truly liked coffee and didn’t like oat milk.
Having been a corporate slave for so many years, the most common thing Qiao Nai drank besides water was coffee. No matter how bitter the coffee was, he didn’t feel much of anything in his mouth. On the contrary, this oat milk felt strange no matter how he drank it. Furthermore, there was one more thing—he was allergic to oats; he didn’t know if he would continue to be allergic in Qiao An’s body.
But Qiao Nai took it anyway: “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” The smile remained on Kablai’s face, and he stayed standing right where he was.
Qiao Nai looked left and right, thinking there was something dirty on his face: “Did something happen?”
“No.” Kablai’s gaze moved downward: “Does the oat milk not suit your appetite this time?”
“No.” Qiao Nai was forced to take two sips. A fishy smell of milk rushed straight to his throat, and it took a while before he could swallow it: “It’s delicious.”
“That’s good.” Only then did Kablai withdraw his gaze: “I made this myself just now.”
Having finally managed to swallow the two sips of milk, Qiao Nai’s pupils constricted slightly upon hearing Kablai’s words: “Made it yourself?”
“Yes, I studied for a long time,” Kablai said. “I’m glad you like it.”
Consequently, Qiao Nai downed the remaining half cup on the spot.
“It’s good.” Qiao Nai drank so fast that a thin layer of white appeared at the corner of his mouth.
Kablai froze for a moment, leaned in, and took out a tissue to help Qiao Nai wipe it, but he saw Qiao Nai take half a step back.
“I can do it myself.” To be honest, Qiao Nai was a bit panicked.
Since transmigrating, he hadn’t spoken much to Kablai. Kablai’s appearances were few; at least in the first few chapters Qiao Nai had read, Ferrio’s driver appeared more often than Kablai did.
He hadn’t thought much about it, but for some reason, starting from just now, he felt Kablai was acting a bit strange.
Kablai didn’t say anything more after that last sentence. Qiao Nai was wondering if he should say something to break the silent air when suddenly, he saw a lot of people crowding over not far away, and noisy voices began to ring in his ears.
“God, Ferrio is actually here.”
“Why did he suddenly come here? Are you sure you didn’t mistake him for someone else?”
“It’s impossible to be mistaken. Someone took a photo with him and posted it on IG.”
“Don’t lie to me, I want a photo too.”
More and more people surged toward the South Gate, and even the photographer from just now had vanished without a trace.
“Ferrio?” Yun Cheng walked over, looking at Kablai: “Why is Ferrio here? Didn’t you say it was some internet celebrity star?”
“There were too many people, I didn’t see clearly. I thought it was an internet star.” Kablai spread his hands: “If it’s Ferrio, it’s not surprising with this many people.”
“Forget about him for now.” Yun Cheng looked to the side: “Let’s hurry up and film. I’ll go ask him later. Where’s De Ao? Where did De Ao go? Wait, he still has the camera in his hand!”
“He seems to have gone to the South Gate too.” Qiao Nai pointed not far away: “I saw him when you were talking to someone else just now.”
“He just left!!” Yun Cheng looked bewildered: “It’s all Ferrio’s fault! Why did he suddenly come to our campus out of the blue? I’ll call him right now and ask.”
Qiao Nai didn’t know why Ferrio would suddenly appear here either.
But speaking of which, he hadn’t seen Ferrio since transmigrating.
He had read a few chapters of the original novel, and nearly half of the ink in those chapters was spent describing Ferrio how he had a slender build and was as elegant as a jade tree, how he was talented, handsome, and graceful. Every good word was piled onto him.
While others appeared by coming out of classrooms after school, Ferrio’s entrance was different some pitch-black night, cold wind blowing through the ends of his hair, dim lighting making the veins on the back of his hand clearly visible he was on a completely different level from everyone else.
Qiao Nai even suspected the author was padding the word count; whenever he saw a description of Ferrio, he would just skim and skip over it. As a result, he still didn’t know what Ferrio actually looked like, what his personality was like, or what his relationship with Qiao An was.
He knew absolutely nothing.
“Looks like we can’t film today.” Yun Cheng patted Qiao Nai’s shoulder and blinked his puppy-dog eyes: “Qiao An, can I ask for your help again next time?”
“Sure…” Just as the words left Qiao Nai’s mouth, the phone in his pocket began to vibrate; someone was calling him. “I’ll go take this call. If you need help next time, just message me directly.”
“You’re the best, Qiao An!”
Qiao Nai tilted the corners of his mouth politely, and out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at the screen. He saw not only the incoming call but also a screen full of messages.
Oh no…
“Why didn’t you reply to my messages?” Ferrio took Qiao Nai to an empty storage room; it was quite remote, and no one would find them.
“I just ran into a bit of a situation.” Qiao Nai was pressed into a corner.
He originally wanted to say he had gone to help Yun Cheng temporarily and forgot to check his phone for a moment, but he was worried that if he said it, Ferrio would fire him, so he kept it vague.
However, Ferrio had no intention of letting him off. He ran a hand through his hair, the veins on his tattooed hand bulging prominently, a hint of displeasure in his voice: “What situation?”
Qiao Nai looked elsewhere somewhat guiltily: “Just… just…”
“Just what?”
“Just that a lot of people suddenly appeared at the South Gate. I was squeezed outside and couldn’t get in, and when I finally got in, I was squeezed out again.” Qiao Nai thought of a reasonable excuse: “It’s really not my fault. If you want to blame someone, blame that Ferrio.”
Qiao Nai spoke with a lot of confidence when he said this; it didn’t look like he was faking it.
“Did you see Ferrio when you came in?” Qiao Nai continued: “Right at the South Gate. I heard he isn’t even a student at this campus. I don’t know why he suddenly appeared here so early in the morning. Strange, right? I feel it’s very strange too.”
The man in front of him paused for a moment and let out a helpless, light chuckle: “Who did you say he was called?”
“Ferrio. That gluttonous, good-for-nothing, arrogant young master. That’s him.”
