- Chapter 53 - Candid Reveal, Wanting to Devour You
Even though Xu Chi had not yet said a word, Gu Jingxuan already knew what he was going to say just by looking at his expression.
He followed Xu Chi back to the hotel submissively. They encountered other guests in the elevator, and Gu Jingxuan even offered a small smile and a nod.
Even behind sunglasses and a mask, that inimitable aura of his still caused the others in the elevator to steal frequent glances.
In contrast to Gu Jingxuan’s interactions with passersby, Xu Chi appeared exceptionally gloomy. He kept his head down, clutching a bottle of mineral water in silence.
Gu Jingxuan occasionally tried to coax a few words out of him, but his own jokes fell flat in the cold atmosphere, so he eventually left him be.
Even when the elevator doors opened, Xu Chi remained motionless in the corner as if he hadn’t processed it.
“Chi-zi?”
Xu Chi looked up. Gu Jingxuan was standing outside the elevator with a gentle smile; he had removed his mask at some point and held it in his hand. He extended his other hand, gesturing for Xu Chi to follow.
“What are you dazing off for? The elevator is here. Let’s go back to the room.”
This scene suddenly overlapped with a long-forgotten memory. When he was a child, his parents would do the same, smiling at him as he stood in an elevator wondering about something in a daze.
“Mhm.”
Xu Chi placed his fingers in Gu Jingxuan’s palm and was immediately gripped tight. Warmth spread from his fingertips all the way to his heart.
After sitting down on the bed in the hotel room, Xu Chi was still acting as if his mind were elsewhere.
Gu Jingxuan couldn’t help but sigh helplessly, wondering if he should even proceed with hearing what Xu Chi wanted to tell him.
Just as he was about to speak, Xu Chi beat him to it.
“Brother Gu, can you wait for me outside the bathroom for a moment?”
After saying this, he stood up abruptly, shed his down coat and sweater, and walked into the bathroom with his back to Gu Jingxuan.
There had been no warning for Xu Chi’s actions, and Gu Jingxuan couldn’t help but wonder if Xu Chi had something else very important to tell him.
After waiting anxiously in the room for a few minutes, he finally heard Xu Chi’s hesitant voice coming from the bathroom.
“Gu… Brother Gu, you can… come in now.”
Gu Jingxuan never expected to see such an R-rated scene the moment he entered. His hand remained on the doorknob, and he was momentarily at a loss for what to do.
Xu Chi had a bathrobe draped over his upper body, but his lower half was completely exposed. He was sitting in the bathtub with his legs spread wide, facing the door.
The moment Gu Jingxuan entered, he could see the scene below—and the secret that Xu Chi had never allowed anyone else to know.
Seeing Gu Jingxuan frozen at the door, the hand Xu Chi used to clutch his bathrobe tightened until his knuckles turned white. He was visibly shaking, his nails nearly piercing his palms through the fabric.
His face was terrifyingly pale, and the light in his eyes had almost vanished.
“You… go out.”
Xu Chi’s voice was trembling. If Gu Jingxuan hadn’t been holding his breath in concentration, he likely wouldn’t have heard these words that sounded like Xu Chi was whispering to himself.
Xu Chi’s emotional state was clearly wrong, and Gu Jingxuan could see it. He turned up the water temperature for the bathtub before quietly closing the door and stepping out.
Little did he know, this action was immediately interpreted by Xu Chi as a sign of disgust.
Warm water fell from the overhead shower, hitting Xu Chi’s hair and shoulders before flowing down the curves of his body and into the tub.
The moment the sound of footsteps outside ceased and the door closed, Xu Chi lowered his head and buried his face in his palms. His eyes were painfully dry.
As expected, no one can accept this kind of thing, right?
Xu Chi still remembered when he was old enough to remember things, his parents had pulled him aside to tell him the secret of his body.
He remembered their eyes: filled with love, helplessness, and pity.
Even though his parents didn’t despise his body, they didn’t treat him as a normal person either. Every day before he left for school, they would tell him he must never expose his body to his classmates.
Xu Chi had never felt like a normal person. Why on earth had he been so foolish as to reveal his secret so completely to Gu Jingxuan?
Where did he get the confidence and conviction that Gu Jingxuan wouldn’t find him repulsive?
As expected… I’ve been thrown back into reality.
An ill-timed knock on the door startled Xu Chi so much that he stood up abruptly in the tub, his head spinning in waves of dizziness.
“Who is it?”
“It’s me. Why aren’t you finished washing yet?”
Gu Jingxuan had gone downstairs to buy two cups of milk tea. He had paced back and forth along the road in front of the hotel several times, thinking that Xu Chi had probably had enough time to calm down while bathing, before heading back up with the tea.
He hadn’t expected to enter the room and find Xu Chi still in the bathroom. The light was still on, accompanied by the sound of running water and nearly inaudible sobs.
Xu Chi hadn’t expected Gu Jingxuan to come back. He hurriedly turned off the shower, dried himself off, put on his bathrobe, and went out.
A cup of milk tea was sitting on the table. Gu Jingxuan was also holding a cup, leaning against the headboard and watching him composedly.
Seeing him come out, Gu Jingxuan smiled and arched an eyebrow. “You took quite a long time in there. Did you scrub off an entire layer of skin?”
Hearing Gu Jingxuan’s joking tone, Xu Chi’s racing heart settled slightly.
He had originally assumed Gu Jingxuan must have gone downstairs to book another room and wouldn’t appear before him again tonight.
“You… why did you come back?”
Xu Chi picked up the milk tea uncertainly and sat on the small sofa, his nervous hands cold as ice.
“Why wouldn’t I come back? If I don’t come back, am I supposed to sleep with Lin Tao tonight?” Gu Jingxuan chuckled, swirling the cup in his hand.
This was an answer Xu Chi hadn’t expected. Gu Jingxuan seemed completely unbothered.
“Don’t you think I’m a monster?”
Sitting alone in the bathroom, the word “monster” had echoed repeatedly in Xu Chi’s mind.
A monster with two sets of sexual organs. A monster delusional enough to want love.
“Why would I?” Gu Jingxuan extended his tongue to lick a milk stain from the corner of his mouth. “Chi-zi’s body is beautiful. It’s so good that I can’t wait to have a proper taste.”
Gu Jingxuan’s extremely explicit words caused Xu Chi’s entire face to flush crimson, and his heart finally settled back into place completely.
“I thought you would hate me.”
Xu Chi lowered his head, his voice like the buzzing of a mosquito, showing extreme self-deprecation.
Gu Jingxuan got off the bed, grabbed Xu Chi, and quickly pinned him beneath him.
He leaned down and licked the side of Xu Chi’s neck, his voice low and raspy.
“I think you have no idea how much I want to devour you.”
