Shocking! The Protagonist of the Mpreg Story Is a Straight Man - Chapter 11
The humiliated and furious Pei Nan flailed his two legs and kicked Xue Xingqi twice. It didn’t hurt; in fact, the sensation was quite pleasant.
The little furry legs were soft, and the feeling of the downy fur sweeping across his body smoothed out Xue Xingqi’s heart. He hadn’t expected that raising a rabbit would offer so many novel experiences. For the remaining half of the class, he didn’t even put his hand back on the desk; he stayed beneath the table, petting his little rabbit.
Pei Nan was spread out by the large hand and pressed flat inside the desk cubby. He was kneaded thoroughly from head to tail, especially the fur on his tail and belly. He wondered if Xue Xingqi had some sort of fetish the more he struggled, the more Xue Xingqi wanted to touch him.
“This guy is definitely a pervert. No normal person pets a rabbit like this,” Pei Nan grumbled to 419.
419 didn’t notice anything unusual; it just silently squatted on top of Pei Nan’s head, telling him they would share both blessings and hardships together.
Finally, they managed to endure until the end of class, and Pei Nan’s “health bar” was nearly depleted from all the petting.
Xue Xingqi also seemed to notice that his rabbit wasn’t as lively anymore, so he went straight back to the dormitory without even going to the cafeteria. Once in the dorm, Xue Xingqi took out the prepared food and water and placed them in front of the lop-eared rabbit. Seeing that Pei Nan wouldn’t eat or drink anything, he felt a bit anxious.
Without wasting a moment, he called the doctor from the other day to ask what to do in this situation. His posture made it clear: if the doctor said so much as “let me take a look,” Xue Xingqi would immediately take the rabbit to the hospital.
“It might be angry. Although lop-eared rabbits are gentle, they have their own little tempers especially your rabbit, whose personality seems quite spirited,” Dr. Tang said tactfully. Xue Xingqi understood immediately. His ‘Xiao Zhi’ wasn’t just spirited; he had a sort of “sole ruler of the universe” arrogance. It was his own lack of restraint today; he couldn’t blame Xiao Zhi.
He reached out and scooped Pei Nan up to check on him. Seeing that the other didn’t resist, he held him in his arms, picking up some fresh Timothy hay in his palm and coaxing him gently, “Xiao Zhi, don’t be angry anymore, okay? We’ll go shopping for delicious treats tonight.”
Pei Nan looked up at Xue Xingqi’s handsome, gentle face. He quickly began comparing it to his own face in his heart, and since his own self-assessment wasn’t objective enough, he called 419 out to be the judge. “Tell me, comparing him to me, am I the more handsome one?”
419 looked at Pei Nan, then at Xue Xingqi, thinking to itself that both were handsome in different ways and it liked them both. But it couldn’t say that; after all, its system manual had trained it for this—this kind of question was like “who do you like more, Mom or Dad?” Answering wrong would lead to big trouble.
It quickly scanned the current situation. The question was asked by Pei Nan, and Xue Xingqi didn’t know of its existence, so there was only one answer. 419 puffed out its non-existent chest and said proudly, “Of course you are the most handsome!”
Pei Nan chuckled, extremely pleased that he could win this contest against Xue Xingqi.
“At least you have good taste.”
Xue Xingqi didn’t know the lop-eared rabbit was harboring thoughts of a beauty contest; he only knew that the little rabbit stared at him blankly for a while before rolling over and starting to eat the grass.
He smiled softly, thinking that his Xiao Zhi was quite easy to coax his temper came fast and went just as quickly, much like how that person would act.
At that thought, Xue Xingqi’s smile faltered, and the upward curve of his lips dropped.
In the afternoon, Xue Xingqi had to go to a meeting. With the morning’s lesson in mind, he didn’t dare take the rabbit with him again. He placed Pei Nan in the nest, locked the rabbit cage securely, and gave repeated instructions before leaving: “Be good. When that weird sleeping brother wakes up, you can’t play with him. Wait for me to come back, okay?”
Through the bars of the cage, Xue Xingqi reluctantly stroked the rabbit’s head. When he reached the door, he almost turned back to tuck Pei Nan into his pocket again. Fortunately, Pei Nan promptly faked being asleep to dodge the bullet.
“He’s finally gone. Let’s find a chance to slip away in a bit.”
Pei Nan had basically adapted to the lop-eared rabbit’s body over the past few days. He stood up straight and gently pawed at the latch. With a clink, the door holding the rabbit open.
However, Pei Nan didn’t move. After all, there were surveillance cameras in the hallway. What if he vanished from Xue Xingqi’s dorm and Xue Xingqi went to check the footage? If he discovered that Pei Nan could transform from a human to a rabbit, wouldn’t he be taken away for research? Besides, he still needed to be “picked up” by Xue Xingqi one more time. Therefore, he just waited for the right moment. Who knew? Maybe Xue Xingqi’s roommate was a scatterbrain who didn’t close doors properly.
As it turned out, Pei Nan guessed wrong. The roommate woke up and immediately knew of Pei Nan’s existence, even refilling his water, which worried Pei Nan to death.
But hard work pays off the roommate went out to pick up a food delivery, and with a light bump, the door didn’t close!
Pei Nan seized the opportunity and ran out, his short legs scurrying across the floor like a cloud with legs.
He slipped along the wall and successfully made it downstairs. To avoid the roommate who was chatting with someone after getting the delivery, Pei Nan dove directly into the flower bed below, using the plants to hide his figure.
“Alright, now we just wait for Xue Xingqi to find me.”
419 wasn’t as optimistic as Pei Nan. “Can we really exploit a bug like this?”
“Based on the games I’ve played, yes.”
Actually, Pei Nan was nervous too, but he desperately wanted to get rid of the system and the missions. Even if this method didn’t work, he would think of another. “Today is Monday. If Xue Xingqi wants to go to meetings or classes, he can, but I’m stuck being a rabbit. My range of movement is just his dorm. What about my life?”
Pei Nan had many things waiting for him to do.
He had to train, he had to go to class his life was a life too.
Pei Nan and 419 didn’t have to wait long.
When the roommate returned and found the door open, his heart skipped a beat. He rushed to the luxury rabbit cage and searched inside and out, but found no sign of the rabbit. He immediately called Xue Xingqi.
“Xue Xingqi, your rabbit is gone!”
Xue Xingqi’s brow twitched. He forced himself to stay calm. “Please check the dorm again… leave the door open, in case it comes back on its own… I’m coming back right now.”
The meeting was almost over anyway. Xue Xingqi handed his tasks to the person next to him, said a quick word to the professor, and left. Once out the door, he broke into a sprint toward the dormitory.
In those few minutes, Xue Xingqi thought of several ways to find the rabbit, but he didn’t expect that when he passed the flower bed, the rabbit would jump out on its own.
Pei Nan really did jump out. He saw Xue Xingqi running toward him like the wind, about to enter the dorm. If he didn’t act now, he might get locked outside the building. If he were caught by someone else and petted repeatedly, he might actually bite them.
Most guys didn’t have a temper as good as that pervert Xue Xingqi. Either the other person would torture him, or he would transform and scare them to death neither was worth it.
So, Pei Nan timed it right, kicked off with his legs, and lunged right to Xue Xingqi’s feet.
“Xiao Zhi.” Xue Xingqi bent down and picked up the rabbit, his palm stroking the rabbit’s back to brush off the gray dust and stray flower petals.
He didn’t lecture him like he did when Pei Nan chewed on things; he just held the rabbit with infinite tenderness and affection, hiding it in his arms as he walked back to the dorm.
The roommate was in the room, singing “Little Rabbit Be Good, Open the Door” in a strange tune. When Xue Xingqi heard it, his expression soured instantly, and even Pei Nan’s furry face looked distorted. If he were a real rabbit hearing that voice, he would have run away for sure.
“Xu Ming, I’m back. The rabbit has been found.” Stop singing.
Xu Ming’s eyes lit up. “Really?”
Seeing the rabbit nestled obediently in Xue Xingqi’s hands, Xu Ming had no choice but to believe it. “Scared the life out of me. I forgot to close the door when I went for my delivery; otherwise, it wouldn’t have escaped.”
“It’s my responsibility.” Xue Xingqi didn’t blame Xu Ming. Whether Xu Ming closed the door or not was Xu Ming’s business; there was no reason his roommate should have to accommodate the rabbit he was raising. “I’ll upgrade his home tomorrow.”
While Xue Xingqi and Xu Ming were talking, Pei Nan finally heard the system’s beautiful notification sound.
Mission: Be picked up and taken home by the neighbor school hunk. Time limit: 30 days. Time remaining: 8 days. Progress: 100%. Mission Completed.
The mission was complete, but the countdown hadn’t ended.
Pei Nan called out to 419, “Does this countdown still serve a purpose?”
After a search, 419 replied, “Unclear. This is the first time such a situation has occurred.”
Pei Nan guessed it was the result of the main system’s operation, and like an online game, it would disappear once the countdown hit zero.
“Forget it, as long as the mission is done. In a bit, I’ll find a chance to slip away. I have to go to training with the team tomorrow, or the coach will skin me.”
As Pei Nan listened to Xue Xingqi planning to install a fingerprint-unlocking luxury cage, his desire to escape reached its peak.
“Is Xue Xingqi for real? Being this strict with a rabbit… whoever falls in love with him in the future is going to be miserable!”
“What?! You even want to put a camera in the cage? You pervert!”
“But this is inconvenient for you. I still want to apply for a single room to take care of it,” Xue Xingqi said, showing some consideration. He informed Xu Ming in advance so the roommate wouldn’t feel awkward.
“Hey, it’s no bother. But applying for a single room at our school isn’t easy. If you really want to switch, you’ll have to put in some effort,” Xu Ming said.
Xue Xingqi was naturally aware of this. He had already planned to go home for a few days and return once the single room application was approved.
He had it all planned out perfectly, but he didn’t expect to lose the rabbit on the way home.
Xue Xingqi stared at his empty backseat, an infinite weariness suddenly rising in his heart.
It felt as if, by some divine decree, he was destined never to get close to that person and now, he wasn’t even allowed to possess a rabbit that resembled him.
Meanwhile, Pei Nan was currently stepping on 419’s back, floating down slowly.
He had to run; once he entered the gates of the Xue family home, the “prison break difficulty” would be ten stars. He had to bail early.
As for how Xue Xingqi would find him?
Pei Nan stole a glance at the road behind him. Three seconds later, he shook his head violently. “Don’t think about it, don’t think about it. Better to deal with my pile of unread messages first.”
