She’s Fiercer Than Zombies - Chapter 21
When Qi Miao saw Qiao Gaogao covered in wounds, she nearly panicked. The others were equally distressed by the situation. With injuries this severe, they had to return quickly to find a solution.
Taking deep breaths to suppress her inner turmoil, Qi Miao rummaged through her backpack and pulled out an apple. Uncertain whether Qiao Gaogao would turn into a zombie, she stuffed the apple into Qiao Gaogao’s mouth as a precaution and secured it with a cloth strip.
Though everyone was grieving, the sight of an apple being used to gag someone was almost too absurd to bear, it was the first time they had seen anyone muzzled like this!
“Quick, help me tie her to my back,” Qi Miao said urgently, hoisting Qiao Gaogao onto her back and instructing the others to bind her securely, especially making sure Qiao Gaogao’s hands were restrained.
“Miaomiao, let me carry her,” offered a tall, well-built man, concerned that the burden would be too heavy for Qi Miao.
“It’s fine,” Qi Miao refused outright. Once Qiao Gaogao was securely fastened, the group searched the building for an escape route. The street they had entered from was now swarming with too many zombies, forcing them to exit through the back of the house.
The rear had far fewer zombies compared to the front. After clearing the area from an elevated position, Qi Miao mimicked Qiao Gaogao’s earlier technique, climbing out through a window and creating ice blocks to step on.
“Hurry!”
As soon as Qi Miao landed, she urged the others to descend quickly, unsure how long the ice could support their weight.
The rest moved swiftly, landing and instinctively forming a protective circle around Qi Miao and Qiao Gaogao before dashing out of the market.
Their priority was no longer gathering supplies, the most critical task now was getting Qiao Gaogao safely back to the base!
The group hurriedly left the agricultural market and piled into their vehicle. Without regard for any zombies blocking the path, they slammed on the accelerator and sped off with a roar!
Because Qi Miao was carrying Qiao Gaogao on her back, the latter lay sprawled across the rear seat in an uncomfortable position. To make matters worse, Qi Miao noticed something alarming Qiao Gaogao’s body was starting to burn up!
A fever at a time like this was anything but good news. “Drive faster!” Qi Miao urged anxiously.
The driver, already tense, gripped the steering wheel tightly and floored the accelerator after swerving past another zombie.
They raced back at breakneck speed, covering a journey that usually took an hour in just over thirty minutes. As they approached the resort entrance, the gate swung open someone had spotted their vehicle. Without stopping, they drove straight to the reception hall. One person jumped out first, instructing others to clear the area, while another helped Qi Miao out of the car.
“Why are you back so soon.” Qiao Muyi began, but the words died in his throat the moment he saw Qiao Gaogao on Qi Miao’s back. Stunned, he quickly stepped forward to check, his voice trembling as he asked, “What happened?”
“We encountered a very powerful zombie,” someone answered on Qi Miao’s behalf.
Taking a deep breath, Qiao Muyi instructed Qi Miao to take Qiao Gaogao into the hotel immediately.
The moment Qiao Gaogao was lifted from Qi Miao’s back, everyone gasped sharply. The blood flowing from Qiao Gaogao’s shoulder had stained most of her body crimson, and even Qi Miao’s back was completely soaked with her blood.
“Gaogao?”
Qiao Muyi anxiously checked Qiao Gaogao’s condition, but she was in no state to respond. Her entire body burned with fever, trembling slightly, while the wound from the zombie scratch had taken on a sinister grayish-green hue. The blood oozing from it was unnaturally dark, devoid of healthy redness.
Seeing Qiao Gaogao like this, Qiao Muyi took a deep breath and grasped her hand, channeling her wood-element supernatural ability. Yet even as cold sweat beaded on her forehead, Qiao Gaogao’s fever showed no signs of breaking.
“Groan! Groan!”
Urgent zombie moans echoed from behind as Yinxi stumbled to Qiao Gaogao’s side. The moment she saw Qiao Gaogao’s condition, two streams of tears instantly traced down her cheeks.
Having been working in the fields when someone told her Qiao Gaogao had returned in critical condition, she had rushed over immediately. Now, seeing Qiao Gaogao lying unconscious on the bed, her heart clenched painfully, head throbbing with distress.
She reached out to touch the wounded area but hesitated, afraid of causing more pain, whimpering helplessly.
“Mmm…”
Qiao Gaogao twisted uncomfortably, her entire body flushed bright red from fever. Her features were contorted tightly, vividly conveying the agony she was enduring.
Those with first-aid experience began disinfecting Qiao Gaogao’s wound. Watching her suffer so intensely, Yinxi seemed to have a sudden epiphany. She bent down, completely ignoring the filth on Qiao Gaogao, and took the injured arm into her mouth.
Her action shocked everyone present. They all knew how severe Yinxi’s mysophobia was, yet now she fearlessly sucked at Qiao Gaogao’s wound, her face half-stained with dark red blood, continuing to draw out the fluid.
Qiao Muyi was stunned, never expecting Yinxi to cross her psychological boundaries for Gaogao. Especially watching her actions could this actually help Qiao Gaogao? It somewhat resembled sucking out poisoned blood.
“Can I help?” Qi Miao, momentarily startled by Yinxi’s actions, quickly regained composure and asked urgently.
Yinxi raised her hand, her mouth full of blood drawn from Qiao Gaogao’s body, and shook her head at Qi Miao.
Frowning, Yinxi’s mouth was overwhelmed by the metallic taste of blood. She tried to endure it but ultimately couldn’t. As she turned her head, Qi Miao immediately handed her a trash bin, into which Yinxi spat.
The once fragrant Gaogao, now contaminated by the zombie virus, had blood that was unbearable.
Qiao Muyi, pale and exhausted from overusing her supernatural ability, still managed to speak as she watched Yinxi repeatedly suck out the blood: “Would it help to cut away all the flesh around the bite?”
Yinxi spat out another mouthful of blood, growled twice, then realized they couldn’t understand her. She shook her head, her expression tense and strained.
She had an instinctive understanding that this zombie virus could only be slowly extracted by her own efforts conventional methods like cutting away the flesh would not suffice.
Normally, after evolving into an ability user, one would be immune to ordinary zombie viruses. But the zombie Qiao Gaogao and the others encountered this time was even more powerful than Qiao Gaogao herself, making its toxicity far stronger.
Although Yinxi didn’t understand why she possessed the ability to suppress and eliminate this particular zombie virus, at this moment, it was undoubtedly a blessing.
Yinxi repeated her actions. As the color of Qiao Gaogao’s arm gradually returned to normal, she began to suck the wound on her left shoulder. Seeing the gaping hole left by the injury, Yinxi’s nose stung even more with emotion.
Just before she left, Qiao Gaogao had been smiling and coaxing her, telling her to wait for her return. How could it be that in the blink of an eye, she had returned lying unconscious?
Her temples bulged with veins. The scent of other zombies clinging to Qiao Gaogao’s body made her grind her teeth in fury.
What kind of low-tier zombie dared to bite her Gaogao?
