Chapter 58: The Quiet Ones Are the Most Terrifying When They Get Frisky
Su Huaiwang unsurprisingly got drunk.
Tu Zhizhuo struggled to carry her to the guest bedroom.
Unfortunately, Su Huaiwang hadn’t completely blacked out; she retained a few moments of clarity and started making a fuss, mumbling to herself. Tu Zhizhuo leaned over to listen, but before she could make out what she was saying, Su Huaiwang pushed her away.
Tu Zhizhuo, who had also had a fair amount to drink, whined, “What are you talking about that’s so fun, and you won’t let me listen?”
Su Huaiwang squinted her eyes open: “Not fun, not letting you listen.”
Tu Zhizhuo pouted: “Fine, I won’t listen!”
Su Huaiwang staggered onto the large bed in the guest room and waved at her friend: “Good night.”
“Good night already? Aren’t you going to wash up? You smell.”
“Not safe.”
“I didn’t install a bathtub.”
“Might fall.”
Tu Zhizhuo clicked her tongue in amazement: “You’re this safety-conscious even when you’re drunk.”
She sat on the edge of the bed and loudly slapped Su Huaiwang’s thigh: “I’ll be nice to you today! I’ll help you wash up! How about that!”
Su Huaiwang winced in pain and kicked her shin: “No need!”
“Hey, you!” Tu Zhizhuo covered her throbbing shin, grimacing: “Why are you so willful when you’re drunk? I’m offering to serve you, and you’re refusing?”
Su Huaiwang didn’t have the energy to reply. Lying on the bed, she wouldn’t even spare her a glance, simply closing her eyes to feel the world spinning.
Tu Zhizhuo pouted: “I’m leaving, okay?”
Su Huaiwang still ignored her.
The sound of the woman’s footsteps rang out, mingled with the tapping of little dog claws on the floor.
Through her fuzzy, cotton-stuffed ears, she heard Tu Zhizhuo’s instructions to the two little dogs:
“…You’re sleeping with me tonight…”
? Stealing her dogs while she’s drunk?
But she didn’t have the strength to lecture Tu Zhizhuo right now. She could only lie on the bed, breathing heavily.
Tu Zhizhuo closed the door behind her on her way out. The apartment’s soundproofing was excellent, and the room was silent. She could only hear the sound of her own labored inhaling and exhaling.
Her mouth felt dry due to the alcohol, and a fire seemed to be burning in her stomach, rising in temperature, scorching from her chest to her brain.
She suddenly felt an overwhelming urge.
Her phone was on the bedside table. Su Huaiwang struggled to turn over, grabbing the quilt and inching forward with difficulty.
The distance of mere tens of centimeters felt like climbing Mount Everest.
Finally retrieving the phone, Su Huaiwang collapsed, burying her head in the pillow, her chest heaving violently.
After a long time, she finally moved a little, her neck slightly turning, revealing a glimpse of a slanting eye.
Her thumb slid quickly across the phone screen, taking some effort to find the name she had never called before.
The phone started ringing. Su Huaiwang buried her entire face in the pillow again, an act of “burying one’s head in the sand.”
The other side answered quickly, at least faster than the speed at which she might regret it.
The girl’s voice, synthesized by the electronic sound, sounded slightly unreal.
“Hello?”
The familiar voice rang in her ear, and Su Huaiwang’s body instantly tightened.
With a trembling hand, she brought the phone closer to her ear. Su Huaiwang felt her mind becoming even more chaotic.
“Su Huaiwang?”
Lin Jue gently called her name, and she was already a confused mess.
Her ears tingled. Her knees unconsciously bent. She lay on the bed, trying to find a more comfortable position for herself.
“…Lin Jue.”
Her voice was sticky. Lin Jue immediately detected the abnormality.
“Did you drink?”
“Mhm.” Su Huaiwang instinctively nodded.
“Are you… outside right now?”
“No, I’m at Tu Zhizhuo’s place.”
“That’s good,” Lin Jue’s voice on the other end sounded visibly relieved: “Did she drink too? Does she have any acidic fruits at home? Eating some can help with the alcohol, otherwise, you’ll have a headache tomorrow morning.”
Listening to her voice, Su Huaiwang suddenly realized what the urge raging in her abdomen and chest was.
She gave a light hum in response: “What are you doing?”
“Me?” Lin Jue glanced around the dark house: “Getting ready to sleep.”
She certainly couldn’t say that she was in her room thinking about her.
“And you?”
Please don’t be an answer like “hanging out with Tu Zhizhuo.”
After she asked the question, there was a long silence on the other end. Lin Jue was slightly confused and asked again: “Su Huaiwang?”
“Mhm—huh?”
The reply came late, drawn out, not sounding like an answer to her question, but more like an unconscious hum.
Lin Jue froze. Her throat felt tight. It took a long time for her to recall how to vocalize:
“What are you… doing?”
“I’m… mhm… guess?”
The upturn at the end of the sentence wasn’t Su Huaiwang’s usual way of speaking, but it couldn’t be more fitting for her now.
Every word was like a small hook, tickling and aching in one’s heart, driving one to impatience.
The hand holding the phone clenched, and veins popped on the fair back of her hand.
Lin Jue felt like her tongue was not obeying her:
“Are you… alone?”
“Aren’t you here too?” The person on the other end seemed to laugh softly, a husky, panting sound.
“…”
She covered her mouth with her free hand. The delicate girl’s face was flushed red. She was still hugging Su Huaiwang’s clothes and pillow. The lingering scent had faded considerably after its owner had been gone for a day.
Lin Jue hadn’t thought much of it before, but now she began to hate why the scent had faded so quickly.
“Why aren’t you saying anything? Huh? I want to hear your voice more.”
The voice coming from the phone was panting harder. She had to stop and rest after every two or three words.
Could this just be because of the alcohol? If so, why was even her voice trembling?
In a trance, Lin Jue thought she heard the sound of bedding rubbing against skin through the receiver, and a faint sound of water…
“Su Huaiwang—”
Lin Jue’s voice was almost a plea when she called her name.
It was a pity Su Huaiwang wasn’t there to see the girl nestled on her bed, pressing the phone tightly against her ear, afraid to miss a single sound.
“Mhm, I’m here. Say a little more.”
Su Huaiwang spoke, her hand movements not stopping.
“You—” Lin Jue’s mind was racing wildly, searching for questions she could ask, desperately trying not to let the jealousy and urgency filling her head take over: “When are you coming back?”
In the end, she only managed to ask this very ordinary question.
“When do you want me to come back?” Su Huaiwang countered.
“I…” Lin Jue pursed her lips: “If it were up to me, of course, I’d want you to come back as soon as possible…”
“Why, do you miss me?” Tonight’s Su Huaiwang inexplicably had a determined attitude to get to the bottom of things, even overshadowing Lin Jue.
“Yes.” Lin Jue answered without any hesitation.
When Su Huaiwang asked for a return date, she would be afraid to answer for fear that her excessive possessiveness might bother Su Huaiwang, but now that Su Huaiwang was asking if she missed her, she didn’t need to mince words anymore.
Su Huaiwang smiled, bringing her lips close to the receiver, like a lover’s whisper:
“Then do you want to do this to me?”
“—!”
She clearly heard the girl’s breathing on the other side of the phone suddenly quicken.
Yet, even at this point, she was still pretending to be clueless, or perhaps, asking for confirmation.
“—Wh-what thing?”
Her mind must really have been burned out by the alcohol tonight, Su Huaiwang thought.
Otherwise, how could she be doing this?
How could she be holding the phone while reaching down, letting Lin Jue hear the sounds of moisture carried by her movements more clearly?
Lin Jue listened quietly on the other end. For a moment, the room was filled only with the sound of wet contractions, an ambiguity that was nerve-wracking. Su Huaiwang almost had the illusion that Lin Jue’s cold, wet breath was already hitting her there.
A shiver. Her head was dizzy.
Her thighs went soft after the prolonged use.
Her mind was blank. Su Huaiwang reburied herself in the pillow and bedding to recover. The phone was tossed aside.
“Did… did you finish?”
The sudden voice startled her. She sprang up only to fall back softly due to the exhaustion all over her body.
Su Huaiwang didn’t speak.
Her mind was a little clearer after the pleasure stimulus. She started to feel shame.
The girl questioned on her own:
“Was once enough?”
“Is it a little tiring to do it alone?”
“Can you satisfy yourself?”
“Do you want me to help you?”
Help her?
Her dizzy mind accurately caught that phrase.
“That night, was it also because you wanted to help me that you did it with me?”
“Not entirely.” Lin Jue answered very decisively.
“Then why?”
“More because I wanted to.”
Even without seeing her, Su Huaiwang could imagine the girl’s expression right now.
Smiling, the corners of her eyes lifted, and her amber eyes flowed with desire, so intense it was almost corrupting her.
Just like that night.
Her body wasn’t dry yet, and a little more was squeezed out.
An electric-like tremor.
Su Huaiwang bit her lower lip tightly.
“So… let me do it, okay?” Lin Jue spoke softly, sincerely yet affectionately: “I’ll satisfy you. I promise.”
Her throat swallowed. Excess saliva was swallowed. Su Huaiwang parted her lips:
“No.”
Receiving a negative answer, Lin Jue instantly panicked: “Why? Don’t you believe me?”
At this point, the woman became cold again. The earlier passion was completely gone:
“Because you haven’t said what needs to be said to me yet.”
“What needs to be said—?” Lin Jue stammered.
Sensing the other person’s rejection, Su Huaiwang also frowned, her tone very displeased:
“Or are you actually not planning to say it? Do you actually not want to be in this kind of relationship with me? If that’s the case, I think maybe we don’t need to communicate anymore.”
“No, that’s not it!” As soon as she heard the words “don’t need to communicate,” Lin Jue immediately panicked and quickly explained: “I just haven’t thought about how to say it yet…”
Su Huaiwang’s eyebrows relaxed: “Then think about it carefully tonight, okay?”
“Mhm…”
“I’ll be back tomorrow.”
“Really?” The girl’s voice lifted again.
Su Huaiwang was about to say yes, but suddenly remembered she had been drinking:
“Mhm… not necessarily. I drank tonight, so I probably won’t be able to completely sober up tomorrow. I can’t drive, so I might have to wait until the day after tomorrow.”
“Then I’ll come pick you up?” Lin Jue offered thoughtfully.
Su Huaiwang chuckled, not taking it seriously: “Sure.”
Lin Jue also smiled, but the meaning in her smile was very complex: “Then sleep early. I’ll come first thing tomorrow morning.”
“Okay.” Su Huaiwang nodded. Just before hanging up, she seemed to remember something: “Oh, and…”
The alcohol could no longer serve as a shield now, so she spoke the next few simple words with immense difficulty:
“…I like you.”
An awkward confession.
After saying it, she hung up the call, even cutting off Lin Jue’s “I like you too.”
The woman’s face was half-buried in the pillow. The other half, from the tips of her ears to her collarbone, was flushed red.
She was in a great mood.
Since she had already said it, Lin Jue should give her a satisfactory confession tomorrow… no, the day after tomorrow, right?
