She Comes Into My Dreams Every Night - Chapter 57
Chapter 57: Didn’t You Enjoy It?
Su Huaiwang was awake.
Lin Jue knew.
She had been expelled from Su Huaiwang’s dream, and she turned her head to look at the dim light outside the window.
After an exhausting night, Su Huaiwang rarely woke up this early.
Did she have something to do today?
Lin Jue closed her eyes, trying hard not to think.
In three more hours, in three more hours she would have a reason to look for Su Huaiwang. Now was too early. No, it would make Su Huaiwang suspicious, especially after she had said so much in the dream last night…
But what if Su Huaiwang already knew?
Already knew that she could enter her dreams?
She had initially tried not to think, but now she was afraid to think.
The wraith’s face was pale, faintly showing a mix of blood-color and dark shadows, but she obediently sat still, waiting for time to pass.
Unfortunately, all she waited for was the sound of a car starting.
It wasn’t very loud, but it burst in her ears like thunder.
In that moment, everything about not thinking, not looking, and not showing emotion was thrown to the wind. Lin Jue passed through the walls of the house, her anxious eyes meeting the exhaust fumes of a car speeding away.
But she couldn’t miss Su Huaiwang in the driver’s seat. She had even brought the three pets.
Lin Jue stood still, dazed. The ghost body, unprotected by a human skin, began to melt under the blazing sun, but she was completely oblivious.
Her spiritual consciousness moved with Su Huaiwang’s steering wheel, winding through the mountains and forests.
Where was she going?
The spiritual consciousness couldn’t see her expression, couldn’t see her mood. It only stubbornly clung to her, like a parasite.
Lin Jue didn’t know how to react, but after a moment, she finally took action.
There was one thing Lei Yinyin had gotten wrong.
A ghost of her caliber could enter other people’s houses casually.
As long as she wished it, she could go anywhere and place her eyes and ears anywhere.
She simply chose not to.
But now, she had to.
The semi-transparent ghost body lightly floated past Su Huaiwang’s front yard vegetable garden, which had been neglected for some reason for almost a month. The door was as fragile as paper to her. Lin Jue entered the empty house effortlessly.
The house still had signs of life, without the scene Lin Jue feared to see.
Lin Jue breathed a sigh of relief and floated into Su Huaiwang’s bedroom.
The quilt was messy in the bedroom, and there was an indentation on the pillow—the mark where Su Huaiwang had rested her head not long ago.
The girl buried her face in the pillow, imitating human breathing as she took a deep breath. When she looked up, her amber eyes were filled with a dazed obsession and dizziness.
After checking this over, Lin Jue felt slightly relieved.
It seemed Su Huaiwang didn’t plan to move out; she was just going out, though she didn’t know where to.
Lin Jue hugged the pillow, curled up on Su Huaiwang’s bed, took out her phone, and carefully considered the words to send.
【Lin Jue】: You went out?
【Lin Jue】: Heard the sound of the car.
Su Huaiwang didn’t reply, probably because she was driving.
Lin Jue waited eagerly, holding her phone, until the late reply refreshed on the screen.
【Su Huaiwang】: Sorry, did I wake you?
【Lin Jue】: No.
【Su Huaiwang】: Just suddenly wanted to go out and play for a couple of days.
【Lin Jue】: Have fun.
Their conversation was simple. No one would guess that they had shared the most intimate act just a few days ago.
Su Huaiwang sighed and put away her phone.
The unfinished breakfast on the table suddenly tasted bland. She was a little annoyed and stroked Little Yellow, who was squatting by her side, drooling.
Little Yellow looked up at her, confused.
“Let’s go.” She patted the dog’s head.
The one person and three pets got back into the car.
Tu Zhizhuo lived in the provincial capital. A high-speed train ride would only take two hours to get to her, but driving would take several times longer.
Su Huaiwang drove intermittently, finally arriving at Tu Zhizhuo’s newly bought apartment at dinner time with the three fur-babies, who were already howling with hunger.
Tu Zhizhuo had received the message and was already waiting downstairs at the apartment building.
After greeting the security guard, she immediately slipped into the passenger seat, radiating warmth:
“Let’s go, let’s go! Turn right into the underground garage!”
Su Huaiwang obediently navigated the apartment building according to her instructions.
Tu Zhizhuo hugged the cat in her arms, looking satisfied: “Why did you suddenly think of bringing Mimi to play with me? Mimi, Mimi, long time no see! Did you miss me? Come give me a kiss!”
As she spoke, she pressed her big face against the cat’s small face.
Fortunately, Mimi was a well-behaved house cat. It didn’t dodge, simply squinting its eyes and letting the woman hug it, meowing softly.
Tu Zhizhuo was overjoyed upon hearing it: “Such a good kitty! Stay at Auntie’s house for the next two days, and Auntie will make you delicious food! Definitely better than your black-hearted owner!”
Mimi meowed, acknowledging the statement. Su Huaiwang also heard this and was a little helpless: “What do you mean ‘black-hearted owner’? Am I not good to them?”
Tu Zhizhuo glanced at her: “You were good before, but now you’re obsessed with dating, so you’ve probably slackened off. Oh, look at our Mimi. The fat on her belly is gone.”
Su Huaiwang gripped the steering wheel, falling into a rare silence.
Tu Zhizhuo turned to her in disbelief: “No way? Are you really obsessed with dating? I was wondering why you suddenly came to me today. Don’t tell me it’s a lovers’ quarrel…?”
Su Huaiwang finally spoke: “No.” It’s much more complicated than that.
The car parked steadily in the parking space. Su Huaiwang sighed, her brows full of worry: “Let’s talk upstairs.”
Seeing her dispirited look, Tu Zhizhuo nodded repeatedly in agreement: “Let’s talk upstairs, let’s talk upstairs.”
Having made a last-minute decision to come out, Su Huaiwang hadn’t brought many things. Most were for the three little ones.
The two of them carried everything with ease.
This was her first time visiting Tu Zhizhuo’s newly purchased apartment.
The apartment was quite tall, and the huge floor-to-ceiling windows offered a complete view of the city center’s nightscape.
“The price wasn’t cheap, was it?” Su Huaiwang looked out at the vibrant, flowing galaxy of lights.
“Psh, it’s not like I bought it, who knows.”
Tu Zhizhuo was as carefree as ever, which slightly eased Su Huaiwang’s mind.
She clicked her tongue, annoyed: “Capitalist.”
“Trying to label me? Can you not be so malicious?”
“I’m just speaking the truth, how is that labeling?”
“I advise you to watch your mouth, or else—” Tu Zhizhuo made a throat-slitting gesture, her expression fierce.
Su Huaiwang laughed. This was the first time she had laughed out loud in days.
She stopped bantering with Tu Zhizhuo and gracefully sat down on the sofa.
Tu Zhizhuo followed her: “What’s wrong? Why the look?”
“Something happened.”
“What happened? Are you bankrupt?”
“Can you stop saying such unlucky things!” Su Huaiwang laughed and scolded.
Tu Zhizhuo leaned against the sofa next to her, looking at her sideways, her eyes serious: “Then what is it? Something that makes you this dejected.”
Su Huaiwang was stunned: “Can I be described as dejected now?”
Tu Zhizhuo rolled her eyes: “What else? Your face is as pulled as a dead person’s. People who don’t know might think something terrible happened! You didn’t lose money, so what’s worth being this sad about?”
“…”
Although she had prepared herself to talk to her about this, now that the moment arrived, Su Huaiwang couldn’t bring herself to say it.
It was too ridiculous.
She steeled herself: “Let’s eat first. We can talk while we eat. Do you have any wine? Let’s have a couple of drinks tonight.”
Tu Zhizhuo was surprised: “Hoo! I don’t have wine at home, but I can call someone to deliver it. Are you trying to drown your sorrows in alcohol now?”
“I just feel… I don’t have the courage to say this without some alcohol.”
Tu Zhizhuo smiled, turned around, and dialed a number on her phone.
The power of money was undoubtedly strong. Moments later, a lavish dinner and a bottle of white wine in an ice bucket were delivered.
Tu Zhizhuo tapped the condensation-covered wine bottle: “I specifically chose one with a high alcohol content. Be careful.”
Su Huaiwang felt helpless: “It’s fine.”
…
In the large apartment space, the three little ones had long been fed. They were now watching the two women drinking cup after cup, their eyes full of curiosity, nestled in the bedding their owner had laid out.
Su Huaiwang’s wine glass emptied, and Tu Zhizhuo refilled it.
Her eyes were hazy: “Why, why another one?”
Tu Zhizhuo’s own cheeks were flushed red, and she was overly excited: “Drink! Drink! When we finish, we’ll order more! Don’t you think I have enough money for this!”
“It’s not about the money…”
Su Huaiwang rested her elbows on the table, her head drooping powerlessly.
Tu Zhizhuo raised her glass, her joyful demeanor a complete contrast to Su Huaiwang’s.
She loudly complained: “Is there anything money can’t solve?! Tell me! I’ll throw money at it until it dies!”
Su Huaiwang exhaled an alcoholic breath and rolled her eyes at her: “You’re truly a nouveau riche.”
“So what if I’m nouveau riche? The nouveau riche’s money is real, and the nouveau riche’s love is real! Tell me! Tell me! See if I can help you!”
“You can’t help.”
That resolute tone immediately energized Tu Zhizhuo: “How can I not help?”
“You can’t make time go back.”
“Why do you want time to go back?”
Su Huaiwang clutched her forehead. The alcohol was hitting her. Her brain was fuzzy now, with only a tiny bit of clarity left.
The words tumbled out:
“Go back and just not do it with Lin Jue.”
The room suddenly fell silent. The night wind blew through the window crack, across Su Huaiwang’s alcohol-numbed brain, clearing away some of the fuzziness.
Su Huaiwang looked up and saw Tu Zhizhuo with her mouth wide open.
What was said could not be unsaid, but Su Huaiwang was somewhat embarrassed now.
Tu Zhizhuo gave her a thumbs-up: “You’re amazing…!”
Su Huaiwang: ?
“You actually got her into bed? Are you the top or the bottom? Or did you try both positions? You look like the bottom to me, but you never know. It would be a waste not to make Lin Jue’s face a bottom! How about this: you’re 0.4, and she’s 0.6. Perfect! How’s that for an arrangement? Don’t say I never look out for you!”
“You really are…” Su Huaiwang’s hand was now on her forehead not because of dizziness, but because of exasperation.
“What about me? Oh, come on! Why didn’t you say so sooner! I should have ordered a congratulatory cannon! After being single for twenty-something years, you finally broke the dry spell! This is truly a milestone!” Tu Zhizhuo exclaimed, cheering.
Su Huaiwang suspected Tu Zhizhuo had drunk herself silly.
“What’s so great about this milestone… I have a huge mess waiting for me…”
“But didn’t you enjoy it at the time?”
“…”
“Didn’t you feel good? Was her technique really that bad?”
The remaining words were squeezed out through Su Huaiwang’s gritted teeth:
“Her… technique was very good.”
So good that whenever she thought about it, she felt a tingling sensation in her lower abdomen, like an electric current going straight to her brain.
Su Huaiwang shifted uncomfortably, unable to sit still.
