Romance Allergy [Book Transmigration] - Chapter 9
Yu Xi was clearly more adept at finding the camera than Dou Anyao. After greeting the lens, she began walking inside, pricking up her ears to listen for any movement.
Finding the interior quiet, she looked at the camera with a surprised expression and whispered, “It seems like no one is here. No way, am I really the first one to arrive?”
Upon entering the courtyard, Yu Xi also stopped by the sign at the entrance. After reading and understanding the check-in instructions, she took out her phone as directed, saved an emergency contact number into the secondary phone provided by the production team, turned off her own device, and placed it in the safe.
As she tucked her phone away, she stared at it with a reluctant, longing gaze. “Ah, my little phone, this is the first time you’re going to be away from Mommy for so long. I’m so sad to leave you.”
Having said that, she swiftly closed the safe door.
[Hahahahaha, what’s up with Milkshake (Yu Xi) any way? One second she’s saying she’s reluctant, the next her movements to close the cabinet are so crisp.]
[Ah, she’s too cute, especially when she pouts. This ‘mom’ fan’s heart is melting!]
[Don’t be sad, Milkshake! Mommy will go pry open the show’s safe tonight and get your phone back for you!]
[Seriously, if I couldn’t use my phone to gossip with my besties for twenty days, I would go insane.]
[Having no phones to play with is forcing everyone to actually get to know the people around them.]
After re-confirming the check-in rules once more, Yu Xi stepped into the main living room, muttering to herself, “Seaside Cottage, Heartbeat Above All.”
She was about to express some thoughts regarding the rules, but when she spotted the silver suitcase in the corner, her words took a sharp turn. “Eh? A suitcase! Someone’s here? Who could it be?”
As she spoke, Yu Xi pattered over and pushed her suitcase next to Dou Anyao’s, leaving it there before hurriedly looking around for any sign of others.
“Who’s here? Hello? Is anyone there?”
Dressed in her pinafore dress, Yu Xi skipped around, searching the living room, the kitchen, and the storage room in the back. She even pulled open the kitchen cabinets to take a peek, but she still couldn’t find a single soul.
“Huh, that’s strange. Why don’t I see anyone?”
Yu Xi was truly puzzled now. Standing in the middle of the living room, she scanned her surroundings, her gaze finally landing on the stairs.
The bulleted comments (danmu) in her individual livestream room were quite lively and the atmosphere was great.
[Milkshake, you little dummy, do you think people are playing hide-and-seek with you? Hahaha, she even checked the cabinets.]
[Milkshake is just too much. I love her so much, she looks so soft and squishy.]
[Ying ying ying, I declare that sweet girls are the best!]
[That’s right, sweet girls rule the universe!]
[Hmm? Why is no one mentioning that she didn’t change into slippers?]
[Don’t tell me Dou Anyao is still sleeping, right?]
[Who cares if she’s sleeping? It would be best if she slept for the full twenty days and didn’t get up until it’s over.]
Just as Yu Xi was planning to go upstairs to take a look, the sound of suitcase wheels suddenly came from outside. Yu Xi’s attention was instantly drawn away; she turned and walked to the door to see who was coming.
“Hello.”
Wearing a sleeveless cinched-waist shirt paired with wide-leg pants, Wen Zhixin walked in holding a black umbrella with a silver lining while pushing her suitcase. Seeing Yu Xi poking her head out with a curious face, Wen Zhixin took the lead to greet her.
“Hello!”
Yu Xi’s eyes lit up when she saw Wen Zhixin. She hurried over to help push the suitcase as Wen Zhixin closed her umbrella under the eaves.
Yu Xi said enthusiastically, “I know you! I’ve seen you in The Chase. Oh my god, ‘Taozi’ was so amazing in that! Especially when you wore the police uniform, you looked so cool!”
Wen Zhixin was a bit embarrassed by the other girl’s fiery passion and praise. Her cheeks flushed slightly as she reached out to push her own suitcase. “Thank you. I can do it myself.”
“It’s fine, it’s fine, let me help you.”
Yu Xi bent over and pushed Wen Zhixin’s suitcase next to hers, looking like a child playing with a toy cart.
And so, the corner where Dou Anyao had just placed her single suitcase slowly began to look like a luggage storage area.
After placing her umbrella in the rack by the door, Wen Zhixin didn’t step into the house immediately. She scanned the doorway and finally bent down to grab a pair of slippers.
While picking them up, she noticed the canvas shoes wrapped inside but didn’t think much of it, simply picking a pair out.
Just as she was about to put them on, Yu Xi, who was still wearing her sneakers, ran back after dropping off the luggage to officially introduce herself. Seeing Wen Zhixin changing her shoes, Yu Xi froze.
“Oh dear, do we have to change shoes? I didn’t even know.”
Yu Xi covered her mouth in shock, looking exactly like a child who had accidentally done something wrong.
Only then did Wen Zhixin’s gaze drop to Yu Xi’s feet. Seeing her shoes still on, she curiously looked back at the shoe cabinet.
“Hmm? Has someone else arrived too?”
It seemed like only Yu Xi was there.
Yu Xi hurried over to change into slippers to make amends. Hearing the question, she nodded. “It seems someone did arrive. I saw a suitcase in the corner, but I didn’t see anyone. I wonder if they went upstairs to rest.”
However, both felt that this possibility was unlikely. The suitcase was still there; even if someone had arrived, they shouldn’t just go up and sleep like that.
“Maybe there’s something fun upstairs and they’re up there?” Wen Zhixin suggested a more reasonable possibility.
Yu Xi pursed her lips and nodded, her cheeks puffing out slightly like a little milk bun. “Shall we go up and take a look too?”
“Sure.”
Although they had just met, the atmosphere between the two was quite harmonious. Having changed their shoes, they began walking upstairs.
The cameraman following them captured their footsteps on the stairs, revealing their different styles of slippers.
[Ahhh, why do I suddenly feel like the cute, “brainless” little Milkshake and Zhixin are a good match?!]
[Their CP vibes are strong! One is cute and soft, the other is quiet and steady; one is making a fuss, and the other is smiling. Ah, who is dying from the cuteness? It’s me!]
[Damn, are those two not curious about their own slippers? What’s going on? Can’t even two people wearing them at the same time trigger a matching pair?]
[Help, I’m truly curious about who will end up wearing a matching pair in the end!]
[DAY (Dou Anyao) has the little green crocodile, Milkshake has the fishing white cat, and Wen Zhixin has the wall-climbing lop-eared rabbit. Is the production team trying to open a zoo with these slipper patterns?]
[But honestly, where did the crew find these couple slippers? Why are they all so cute!]
[Really cute. I really want to know what the other version of Wen Zhixin’s slippers looks like. I love them.]
[Wen Zhixin’s slippers suit her well, a white, chubby lop-eared rabbit. Mmm, it looks so delicious, no, so bouncy.]
Inside the Seaside Cottage, the two reached the second floor. Wen Zhixin knocked on a bedroom door and, after confirming no one was inside, pushed it open to look.
“Wow, so pretty. It has a bit of a rustic, pastoral feel.”
Behind her, Yu Xi poked her head out to look into the room with Wen Zhixin and marveled.
“The environment is indeed great,” Wen Zhixin agreed with a nod.
It wasn’t until the two turned to head to the third floor that they remembered to introduce themselves.
“Hello, I’m Wen Zhixin. You can just call me Zhixin,” Wen Zhixin said with a smile to Yu Xi.
Yu Xi reached out directly, shaking Wen Zhixin’s hand up and down. “Oh, I forgot to introduce myself! My name is Yu Xi, you can call me Xiao Xi.”
Wen Zhixin didn’t know Yu Xi, and certainly didn’t know that everyone else called her “Milkshake.” Hearing this, she nodded and followed the other’s lead. “Xiao Xi.”
Finally hearing someone call her that, Yu Xi smiled contentedly, showing eight teeth. “Shall we keep going up?”
“Okay.”
Thus, the two continued upward slowly, looking around as they walked.
[Hahahahaha, Wen Zhixin looks like she doesn’t know Milkshake’s nickname. She really called her Xiao Xi. Once she finds out later, she’ll probably have to call her Milkshake too.]
[Help, Xiao Xi is really too good. I love her so much, why is she so well-behaved!]
[Am I the only one wondering if Dou Anyao is awake?]
[Don’t even think about it. Just came back from the neighboring livestream; heard she just changed her position and is one step away from lying flat on the sofa.]
[I’m sorry.]
[I’m sorry.]
[Sorry, I’ve already started cringing with my toes. If these two see DAY sleeping so soundly there, will they be speechless on the spot?]
[Beat it! Is this your home turf? Can anything related to that person be discussed in her own livestream? Truly annoying.]
Perhaps because it was a strange environment, Wen Zhixin and Yu Xi weren’t making much noise. Plus, having just met, they didn’t have much to talk about besides a few comments on the rooms and the cottage’s decor, so they didn’t make much sound.
With the help of the central air conditioning, the temperature throughout the house was perfectly comfortable. Dou Anyao, leaning against the sofa and sleeping soundly, was completely oblivious to everything. She had no idea that two people were currently heading toward the fourth floor, step by step.
