Romance Allergy [Book Transmigration] - Chapter 10
The rain outside began to pour heavily again at some point. Large droplets struck the glass with a pitter-patter sound, signaling the intensity of the downpour.
Gradually, the rainwater gathered and slid down the window panes like a curtain. Against the backdrop of the gray horizon, the unlit top floor appeared somewhat dim.
Under this gray-black rainy sky, the vibrant flowers in the flower room bloomed with a beauty so striking it was almost breathtaking.
Outside the wall was the drifting heavy rain, while inside were the delicate, dripping flowers, as if representing two extremes.
Walking in front, Wen Zhixin had not yet stepped onto the final stair when she spotted a sleeping beauty resting her head on the sofa near the side table by the wall.
The sleeping beauty’s head was turned inward. From their angle at the staircase, they could only see half of her side profile, slightly obscured by her elegant hair.
It was a face so familiar that Wen Zhixin could recognize her identity even by seeing only a tiny portion of it.
Wen Zhixin’s pace came to a sudden halt.
Yu Xi, who was following closely behind, saw that Wen Zhixin had stopped. Just as she curiously stepped up to ask what was wrong, Wen Zhixin suddenly turned around and covered Yu Xi’s mouth.
“Mmph?” Yu Xi, her mouth suddenly covered, widened her eyes in shock.
In that split second, a thought flashed through her mind: Is this what a dating show is like? Physical contact right from the start.
Wen Zhixin lowered her voice and whispered, “There’s a guest sleeping up here. Let’s go back down first.”
As she spoke, she partially guided Yu Xi, leading her to turn and walk back down. It wasn’t until they reached the landing in the middle of the third-floor stairs that she released her hold on Yu Xi.
Yu Xi blinked blankly. She raised her hand and scraped the back of her index finger against her cheek, as if something still remained there.
Seeing her movement, Wen Zhixin realized her actions just now were somewhat improper. She quickly apologized, “I’m sorry, Xiao Xi. I… I got a bit nervous when I saw someone sleeping up there, and when I saw you were about to speak, I did that subconsciously.”
“I’m truly sorry, I didn’t think it through.”
Every time she saw Dou Anyao, she became unlike herself. Whenever something involved her, Wen Zhixin would lose all her usual calm and reasoning.
Thinking of this, Wen Zhixin wrinkled her face in frustration.
She didn’t know what she had been afraid of. First, she likely didn’t want to disturb her rest; Dou Anyao was so busy every day, she must be exhausted.
Second… there was a hint of guilt in her heart. For some reason, she didn’t want the other woman to see her, fearing she might think she had come here to pester her.
After all, at the hotel at noon today, she had reminded her not to let others know about the relationship between them.
Wen Zhixin looked preoccupied with her thoughts. Since her regretful expression was genuine and Yu Xi hadn’t suffered any harm, Yu Xi gave a generous smile and comforted her:
“It’s fine. You don’t need to blame yourself. I should actually thank you. I tend to be loud when I talk. If you hadn’t stopped me, I definitely would have disturbed the guest’s rest.”
As she spoke, Yu Xi looked up again and asked curiously, “But who is the guest up there?”
When she mentioned this, Wen Zhixin couldn’t help but recall the scene she had just witnessed.
Amidst the dark rainy day and the bright flowers that looked like stars dotting the night sky, she was the only touch of white.
Like a bright moon, she leaned there quietly in sleep, making one want to be the person who wakes her with a kiss.
Imagining herself leaning down to kiss that sleeping face, Wen Zhixin’s heart skipped a heavy beat, but she quickly and forcefully suppressed the image.
Wen Zhixin, what are you thinking? In the future, she is just your sister.
“It seems to be… Teacher Dou Anyao.”
Wen Zhixin said softly, keeping her eyes downcast.
“Teacher Dou Anyao?”
Still lost in her own thoughts, Wen Zhixin didn’t notice the dark glint that flashed in Yu Xi’s eyes when she heard that name.
Since they couldn’t go to the top floor, the two returned the way they came to the first floor, planning to rest while waiting for the new guests to arrive.
[Wen Zhixin is quite polite. Her first reaction upon seeing someone sleeping was actually to turn around and leave.]
[Is it just me who finds it strange? Even if you see someone sleeping, the reaction shouldn’t be that big, right? Subconsciously covering Milkshake’s mouth? Is that reasonable?]
[Does this count as intimate contact between them? Covering the mouth! Your lips touching my palm—isn’t that very intimate!]
[But Milkshake was so cute when her mouth was covered. Her eyes were blinking, so lively.]
[Wait a second. From Wen Zhixin’s angle, could she even see Dou Anyao’s face clearly? How did she recognize her identity immediately?]
[That makes sense. They don’t know each other, right? I don’t think they’ve ever worked together.]
[Finally, someone asked what I wanted to ask. From the camera’s angle just now, they shouldn’t have been able to see Dou Anyao’s face clearly at all. How did she recognize her?]
[Uh… even if the production team doesn’t reveal the lineup in advance, do the guests really not know who is coming? It’s all a script, don’t take it too seriously.]
[What are you guys trying to do? Our Zhixin isn’t involved, okay? You DAY fans don’t drag others down with you. No shipping, no hype, thank you!]
[Where is there a variety show without a script? You guys actually believe there isn’t one?]
[And we don’t know if all the guests are from the industry this time. If they are, there’s definitely a script.]
Soon, the comments questioning how Wen Zhixin recognized Dou Anyao from just a small part of her profile were replaced by debates over whether the show was scripted, and were quickly washed away.
Just as the two came down, a tall figure appeared at the door of the main house.
“Oh? A new guest is here!”
Yu Xi ran over in a few steps, wanting to help the newcomer with their suitcase to show equal favor.
“Hello!”
“Hello everyone.”
A gentle and pleasant voice sounded. The newcomer wore a porcelain-white qipao that fully revealed her well-proportioned figure. Her hair was held up by a black wooden hairpin, exposing her fair nape and the elegant contour of her neck.
Her beautiful face carried a faint, polite smile as she walked into the cottage like a pleasant breeze.
She also wore a pair of pure white high heels, exemplifying the grace of “growing lilies with every step” as she moved.
Yu Xi looked up at her, her eyes seemingly sparkling. “Ah, it’s Sister Xueqing!”
Chi Xueqing looked down at her, her eyes curving into a smile. “Hello there.”
This meeting was captured beautifully from multiple angles by the photographer. One was elegant and graceful, the other sweet and cute. With just one look between them, bystanders felt as if many invisible pink bubbles were floating around.
