Rich Cat A Would Never Fall in Love with a Fake Heiress - Chapter 46
Only after hastily disembarking the plane, handing her luggage to the person picking them up, and arriving at the hotel they had booked did Mo Li belatedly realize that this was far from an impromptu vacation trip.
In the depths of winter, though not the peak travel season for Iceland, there were still plenty of tourists.
The famous Blue Lagoon Hotel, facing a stunning azure waterscape, was one of those highly sought-after accommodations that required reservations at least three months in advance.
Nestled amidst rolling green hills, the hotel consisted of two modern, single-story buildings, exuding tranquility without sacrificing contemporary style.
Mo Li glanced knowingly at Mo Wang, receiving a smug look in return.
Side by side, they walked arm in arm into the hotel, intimate and inseparable.
Here, no one knew them; they didn’t have to wear masks and could kiss and embrace anywhere they pleased.
The weather remained chilly, but stepping into the hotel felt like entering a warm spring day.
Mo Wang went to the reception to check their reservation, and after a quick verification, the staff led them upstairs.
Entering the room, Mo Li gazed out the window at the faint steam rising from the blue hot spring, breathing in the moist air. She felt she could happily spend the entire afternoon here doing nothing at all.
But Mo Wang seemed to have already mapped out their travel itinerary.
After a restful night in the warm hot spring, they headed to Reykjavik, following their guide to a mountainside reputed to be the best spot for viewing the northern lights. There, they waited quietly for the possible appearance of the aurora.
It was said that the longer the night, the more likely the aurora would appear.
For several days, Mo Li and Mo Wang, bundled in thick down jackets and sipping hot cocoa, sat waiting for the spectacle.
The guide was quite curious about these two Eastern girls.
“It’s rare to see Easterners so relaxed. They usually seem so busy, waiting one day and then not coming back,” he remarked.
His English was fluent, tinged with a local Icelandic accent that sounded both charming and unique.
“We’re here on vacation, with plenty of time off,” Mo Li explained with a smile.
The guide nodded understandingly, offering a warm smile. “Honeymoon, then? Wishing you both a joyful trip.”
Mo Li wasn’t sure how to respond. She glanced furtively at Mo Wang, who was looking up at the sky and tugging gently at Mo Li’s sleeve.
“Look, it’s here.”
Following Mo Wang’s pointing finger, a faint greenish glow appeared on the horizon, slowly drifting and shifting over time.
Purple and sapphire beams gently intertwined, floating like ribbons, fading and reappearing.
Mo Li held her breath, mesmerized by the breathtaking beauty, a rare sight amid her hectic life in City A.
In the following days, Mo Wang’s travel plans were leisurely. They wandered at their own pace, exploring everything from Helsinki Cathedral in Finland to exotic small towns, and even whale watching and underwater scenery in Norway.
Eventually, they circled back to Iceland’s Blue Lagoon Hotel.
By then, they had already exceeded Mo Wang’s two-week annual leave, nearing a full month, yet Mo Wang showed no intention of returning, thoroughly enjoying herself and reluctant to leave.
Soaking in the hot spring, Mo Wang, shrouded in steam, was still scrolling through her phone.
Mo Li shifted slightly.
Mo Wang’s fingers moved, subtly covering the screen. Noticing Mo Li’s gaze, she offered a sweet smile, trying to brush it off.
Seeing this, Mo Li was convinced that Mo Wang must be plotting something significant behind her back.
Mo Wang clearly didn’t want her to notice anything amiss, so she calmly changed the subject without batting an eye.
“Have Mom and Dad contacted you recently?”
Mo Li had intended to press further, but with that question, she sensed something off.
Given Mo Father’s zero-tolerance personality, he would’ve summoned her home and given her a scolding the very day she embarrassed herself at the shareholders’ meeting.
She picked up her phone from the edge of the hot spring’s stone railing.
The chat log with Mo Father in her contacts only went as far as the day the shareholders’ meeting ended.
The last message read: “You’re on your own.”
She held up her phone without hesitation for Mo Wang to see. “Seems he’s finally made up his mind, even cut ties with his own flesh and blood.”
Mo Wang pursed her lips into a smile. “You don’t mind?”
Mo Li shrugged. “It is what it is. Having a child like me is what they deserved.”
She lowered her gaze.
“During the years you were gone, Dad’s health wasn’t good. I was thrown into managing the company, forced into it, didn’t even get to attend A University after getting accepted.”
“I’m not as capable as you. They were both dissatisfied with me, thought I was incompetent and stupid. They even suspected they’d gotten the wrong child and dragged me off for a paternity test.”
Mo Li let out a soft sigh. The arrogance, competitiveness, resentment, and anger from those years—she could finally speak of them openly.
Someone as perfect and strong as Mo Wang—it was only natural she couldn’t measure up.
“How could that be? Right after I left, many joint venture partners naturally grew suspicious of the Mo Group. And as for those senior employees with ulterior motives—that was my oversight while I was in charge.”
Mo Wang gently cupped her face, comforting her softly.
Then she let out a derisive laugh. “Sounds exactly like the kind of thing those two idiots would do.”
Seeing that Mo Wang’s mood had soured, Mo Li pushed through the warm water’s resistance and pressed closer.
“Don’t be mad. Come here, let me kiss you.”
She planted a kiss on the corner of Mo Wang’s mouth, seizing the chance to sneak a peek at Mo Wang’s phone.
Mo Wang reacted swiftly, tossing the phone aside. It slid across the wet, slippery floor of the hot spring all the way to the window.
“Using seduction as a tactic?”
She raised an eyebrow.
Mo Li, caught red-handed, tried to wheedle her way. “I showed you my phone just now, but you won’t let me see yours. Are you secretly seeing another Alpha?”
Mo Wang wasn’t having it. She leisurely crossed her arms, sank down until only her nose was above the water, and closed her eyes without saying a word.
Mo Li put on a pitiful face. “You know how it is—I’ve been without Mom and Dad since I was young…”
Even as she spoke, her hands wandered mischievously underwater, aiming for Mo Wang’s ticklish spot on her lower abdomen.
Mo Wang immediately released a stream of bubbles and leaped up, sending water splashing everywhere.
She glared at Mo Li, but upon seeing that feigned innocent expression, she burst out laughing first.
“I’m not soaking with you anymore.” Mo Wang patted her shoulder, then stepped out of the hot spring onto the tiled floor with her smooth, slender legs.
She deftly wrapped a towel around herself.
“Anyway, you’ll find out tomorrow.”
Watching Mo Wang’s dazzlingly pale body gradually concealed by the thick towel, Mo Li felt a twinge of regret.
“Wanna try it in the hot spring once?”
