Rich Cat A Would Never Fall in Love with a Fake Heiress - Chapter 44
Mo’s father could disregard Mo Li and ignore the court of public opinion, but once legal proceedings were involved, even his formidable influence would be powerless.
Though Mo Wang’s appointment as acting CEO lacked formal legitimacy, Lin Qianying stood by her side on the board of directors. After seeing the photographs, Mo’s father remained silent, and the remaining figurehead directors naturally raised no objections.
Mo Wang was unanimously approved, replacing Mo Li as acting CEO.
The humiliated expression on Mo’s father’s face now was identical to the one he wore during that board meeting.
“I’ve smoothed things over throughout the company. No one dares trouble you anymore. What will it take for you to spare the Mo Corporation?”
Mo Wang lowered her gaze. “You just told me not to be ruthless, but seven years ago, you said something quite different. You told me to get as far away as possible.”
“At that time, you had just recovered from a serious illness, and I had worked hard to restore the Mo Corporation to its former glory. I even reported all the details to you.”
She seemed somewhat distressed, unconsciously crumpling the corner of a document with her fingers.
“You were truly ruthless, broadcasting the entire shareholder meeting live as you signed the documents severing ties with me. From then on, every joint venture partner in the industry avoided me.”
“You restricted my ability to purchase tickets abroad, confining me to that worthless university year after year. If not for Madame Li, I might have been trapped in a foreign land forever.”
“I begged you back then.”
Mo Wang lifted her eyes, her gaze unwavering and composed. “Why didn’t you say then that one shouldn’t be ruthless?”
Mo’s father had no rebuttal, but Mo Wang knew that someone as stubborn as him would never admit his mistakes.
She had long abandoned any illusions about them.
“If you want me to let bygones be bygones, fine. There’s only one condition. If you can fulfill it, I might even return the acting position to the Mo Corporation, along with all the projects and funds.”
Mo Wang shifted the conversation, and as expected, a glimmer of hope lit up Mo’s father’s eyes.
“Of course, of course.”
Mo Wang curved her lips slightly.
“I want to hold a wedding with Mo Li. Please inform our relatives, friends, and the elite socialites in our circle, Father. We might as well collect some wedding gifts.”
Mo’s father’s face turned a mottled shade of purple and green, a spectacle in itself.
Ironically, many of Mo Wang’s specialists at Qiang Wei Pharmaceuticals were Omegas whom Mo’s mother, out of jealousy, had schemed to have Mo’s father fire or drive away.
At the time, to provide them with positions, Mo Wang placed them at Qiang Wei Pharmaceuticals.
Now, they had become her loyal and capable assistants.
Thanks to this, Mo Wang was able to leave work early today.
She unlocked the front door with her fingerprint.
The moment the door opened, a garishly colored little figure dashed toward her.
Startled, Mo Wang took a closer look.
It was Tang Yuan, but he was no longer the same. His plain white fur no longer satisfied him, now, his purple-and-white coat was strikingly, almost shockingly, fashionable.
Especially his ears and the tips of his tail, which had turned a vivid purplish-red. The large patch of purplish-red around his mouth and the tangled, damp fur were even more noticeable.
“How did you even manage to eat it?”
Mo Li quickly followed Tang Yuan as he darted out, only to meet Mo Wang’s stunned gaze.
She gave an awkward smile. “I saw on TV that red dragon fruit can be used for non-toxic dyeing, so I wanted to try coloring his tail and ear tips.”
“Haha, but then Tang Yuan took one look at the dragon fruit and bit into it, then kicked the fruit over and rolled around in it.”
“Well, that’s something.” Mo Wang bent down, reached under Tang Yuan’s front legs, and lifted the entire cat up.
Human eyes met feline eyes, and all that remained was mutual astonishment.
Staring at the vibrant, fiery-red Tang Yuan, Mo Wang suddenly couldn’t hold back her laughter.
Mo Li rubbed her face sheepishly, just as Mo Wang’s voice, full of amusement, reached her ears.
“Grab the cat carrier. Let’s go to the pet store and see if there’s any way to fix this.”
“And we can stop by the fresh market on the way.”
At least she wasn’t angry.
Mo Li’s eyes curved into a smile as she fetched the cat carrier. The moment Tang Yuan saw it, he began to struggle, but Mo Wang swiftly and skillfully tucked him inside.
Autumn had arrived, the lingering heat of summer long gone, replaced by a crisp, cool breeze that carried a hint of desolation after the season’s abundance.
Red maple leaves drifted down along the roadside, and the autumn sunset cast its final warm glow across the horizon. Both Mo Li and Mo Wang had donned long trench coats.
As an Omega, Mo Wang felt the cold more keenly and had even put on thin fleece gloves.
Tang Yuanwas taken to the pet store.
True to form, he was close to no one but Mo Wang and Mo Li. The moment he was let out of the carrier, he began yowling, scratching, and biting wildly. It wasn’t until the store clerk lifted him by the scruff of his neck that he finally settled down.
The clerk, suppressing a laugh, said she would try to wash the dye out and told them to come back later to pick him up.
Mo Li gave Tang Yuan a pat on the head as a goodbye and followed Mo Wang out of the pet store.
The two made a detour to the fresh market.
Watching Mo Wang push the shopping cart, Mo Li noticed a rare, gentle smile on her face, one that seemed to bloom unconsciously from the heart.
She reached out and enveloped Mo Wang’s hand, and together they held the cart’s handle, sharing a knowing smile.
They wandered through the aisles, comparing products and carefully searching online for reviews and value of different brands, just like any ordinary Alpha-Omega couple.
After shopping, Mo Wang took Mo Li out for a meal and chose the most popular romance movie of the moment.
Before, both had been busy with their own careers and responsibilities. Now, taking a break and looking at each other, they felt their hearts filled with warmth and contentment, as if stuffed with cotton.
Watching the dramatic breakup scene in the movie, Mo Li found the sobbing and wailing utterly boring.
She interlaced her fingers with Mo Wang’s, gazing into her eyes, which sparkled like stars under the cinema screen’s glow.
They would never end up like that, never.
…
By the time they returned home, it was very late. The parts of Tang Yuan that had been dyed purple were now washed to a delicate pink by the pet store, making him look incredibly tender.
Having endured a long and eventful day, the moment Mo Wang released him from the carrier, Tang Yuan eagerly dashed back to his cat bed to sleep.
Mo Li kissed Mo Wang’s forehead. Her estrus cycle hadn’t yet ended, and now, well-fed and comfortable, she began to tease and flirt.
Mo Wang lowered her eyes, a subtle and ambiguous consent.
They kissed from the living room all the way to the bedroom, stumbling and knocking over a clothes rack along the way. Mo Wang fumbled along the wall behind her for the light switch, turning it on and off until it settled into a soft, dim, golden hue.
“Not afraid of turning on the light anymore?”
Mo Li kissed the curve of her ear, and when the tip of her tongue brushed against the ear bone, Mo Wang’s breathing noticeably faltered.
With a hint of mischief, she asked, “Should I stop?”
Mo Wang bit her shoulder lightly.
“Continue.”
Mo Li paid no mind to this playful, teasing bite. She chuckled softly, her tongue curling around the earlobe adorned with an earring, drawing it into her mouth and gently nibbling with her teeth.
Mo Wang was clearly aroused as well; her cool pheromones were teased out by the scent of blueberries, lingering in the air of the room.
Mo Li couldn’t help but feel a sense of triumph, her eyes gleaming slyly like a cunning rabbit that had outsmarted a fox.
“You’ve triggered your heat cycle too.”
Mo Wang’s arm around her back tightened, and the two of them tumbled together onto the soft mattress.
Mo Li lay on top of Mo Wang, propping herself up with her arms caging Mo Wang in, her hair cascading over Mo Wang’s neck.
Mo Wang felt ticklish, her cheeks flushed pink as she tilted her head and curled up, letting out a soft laugh.
She raised her hand, her palm slowly approaching until Mo Li’s vision gradually faded to black.
In the darkness, she felt a light touch at the corner of her lips, followed by the soft fabric of a tie brushing over her eyes. Mo Wang’s fingers caressed the back of her head before tying the tie into a loose knot.
“Can we do it blindfolded? I want to take the lead.”
Mo Wang had become much more assertive and daring. Mo Li wasn’t sure if that was a good or bad thing. In the pitch black, she managed to catch Mo Wang’s hand, holding it firmly before flipping over, positioning Mo Wang on top of her.
She brought that hand to her lips, kissed the fingertips, and said with a smile,
“Then you take the lead.”
…
When Mo Li opened her eyes the next morning, she found Mo Wang had, at some point, rolled into her embrace.
She had work later, so Mo Li decided to prepare breakfast before waking Mo Wang.
She kissed the top of Mo Wang’s head and slowly slipped her arm out.
Mo Wang was sound asleep and didn’t stir.
Following an online recipe, Mo Li set out to make a simple bowl of clear broth noodles.
While frying the eggs, Mo Wang emerged from the room barefoot, her sleepy eyes locking onto Mo Li. She walked over and wrapped her arms around Mo Li’s waist.
“Smells good,” she murmured, burying her face in Mo Li’s back.
“Of course,” Mo Li replied confidently.
“But something feels off.”
Mo Wang seemed to have regained a bit of energy. “Why is it so quiet today?”
“Huh? What do you mean?” Mo Li was puzzled.
But Mo Wang had already let go and walked toward the window. Thinking she had something to attend to, Mo Li focused on shaking the pan to keep the eggs from sticking.
When both eggs were slightly crispy, golden on both sides, and lying quietly in the pan,
A sense of pride washed over Mo Li. She glanced toward the living room, hoping for a word of praise.
What she saw nearly made her heart stop.
On the balcony by the window, Mo Wang was standing on a tall stool, straining to reach a swallow’s nest hanging at the top of the floor-to-ceiling window.
She wasn’t tall enough and had to stand on her tiptoes, causing the stool to wobble precariously.
The balcony railing was only waist-high for an adult, and Mo Wang was at risk of toppling over at any moment.
Not daring to make a sound, Mo Li set down the spatula and hurried over.
Just as Mo Wang reached for the swallow’s nest, the stool wobbled noticeably. Losing her balance, she began tilting backward.
Mo Li reacted swiftly, catching her legs and lifting her steadily.
Her legs went weak, and she ended up sitting on Mo Li’s shoulders.
“You scared me,” she gasped.
Cradling the swallow’s nest, she was set down on the sofa by Mo Li, who was both startled and annoyed.
“How could you…”
A faint chirp interrupted her.
Inside the nest was only one small bird. Its wings were already full and dark, clearly well cared for, but even faced with two unfamiliar giants, it could only flap its wings helplessly, nearly tumbling from the nest, unable to take flight.
“The parent swallows flew off with the other fledglings. This one seems unable to fly and was left behind,” Mo Wang explained.
She caught the nearly fallen swallow and examined it curiously.
Tang Yuan woke up too, leaping onto the sofa and staring unblinkingly at the newcomer, a tiny creature that looked like potential emergency rations.
