Rich Cat A Would Never Fall in Love with a Fake Heiress - Chapter 33
As the passion between the two intensified, their kisses grew fervent. The scent of blueberries, cool and fragrant, slowly permeated the air. The bedsheets became increasingly disheveled, and the room was filled with an ambiguous, sensual atmosphere.
But just as they were about to take things further, a fluffy little head poked through, licking Mo Wang’s cheek before suddenly rolling around her neck, playfully seeking affection.
Unable to bear the ticklish sensation, Mo Wang burst into laughter. She slipped her arms under Tang Yuan’s front legs and lifted the entire furry ball into her arms.
The crucial moment had been abruptly cut short, all thanks to the kitten’s interruption. Mo Li was frustrated but had no outlet for her irritation.
She slipped on her slippers and followed Mo Wang to the living room, watching as Mo Wang took out a dark green ball and stuck it to the wall. As soon as the packaging of the green ball was torn open, the familiar, cool fragrance wafted out again, and Tang Yuan eagerly pounced and nibbled at it.
Mo Li didn’t think much of it, assuming it was just a snack for Tang Yuan. Meanwhile, Mo Wang’s pheromone scent, which had grown stronger and more noticeable, was due to her approaching estrus cycle, which she couldn’t control.
Having found a distraction for Tang Yuan, Mo Wang stood up. Mo Li understood her intention and pulled her back into the bedroom, locking the door securely behind them.
…
Mo Wang was truly exhausted. After just a short while of intimacy, she buried herself in Mo Li’s embrace and fell asleep. The bright red temporary mark on the back of her neck indicated that she would be able to pass this estrus cycle smoothly without needing any inhibitor injections.
The pheromones in the air gradually softened into a soothing, comfortable scent. Mo Li, bare-legged, slipped out of bed. The silk straps of her nightgown draped gracefully along the curves of her body.
As she stepped softly onto the carpet, Mo Wang, seemingly sensing the loss of warmth beside her, stirred restlessly in her sleep. She reached out, grabbing Mo Li’s wrist, on the verge of waking up.
Mo Li had no choice but to settle back into the bed, releasing more of her blueberry pheromones until Mo Wang fell into a deep sleep.
She unlocked the bedroom door, and almost immediately, it swung open. A furry little cat, clinging to the doorknob, was slowly carried in by the moving door.
Tang Yuan jumped off the door and made a beeline for Mo Wang, but Mo Li caught her by the back, scooping her up by her short little legs.
Fortunately, Tang Yuan didn’t struggle or meow, allowing herself to be held and petted obediently.
Mo Li carried her, intending to find some toys or food to distract the kitten. But as she did, her nose caught a faint whiff of that cool, familiar scent. Her gaze swept over the green ball in the corner, now gnawed and pitted from Tang Yuan’s chewing.
Mo Wang’s door was tightly shut, there shouldn’t be such a strong pheromone scent here.
Curious, Mo Li crouched down. Tang Yuan trotted over, rubbing her body against the green ball before staring intently at Mo Li, as if inviting her to share in the fun.
Mo Li patted her head, politely declining the offer.
She rummaged through a pile of cat supplies, following Tang Yuan’s insistent demands to open a cat treat stick and a can of cat food. Finally, she found the bag that had contained the green ball. Printed clearly on it were the words: “Colorless, Odorless Catnip Ball, Wall-Mountable Cat Toy.”
Mo Li turned in disbelief, locking eyes with Tang Yuan. After finishing her meal, the kitten scurried back to the corner to paw at the catnip ball again. Soon, her eyes grew dazed as she rolled around on the floor, occasionally taking another nibble of the ball.
It wasn’t a mistake, Mo Wang’s pheromones really did smell like catnip.
But if it’s the scent of catnip, why is it that others are completely unaware of her pheromones, while I react to Mo Wang’s pheromones?
Now, Mo Li was wide awake. She spent the whole night searching on her phone but found no relevant entries or information, let alone any similar cases of Omegas.
By the time the sky brightened, Mo Wang emerged from her room rubbing her eyes. She was wearing a white nightgown, without even a bra, and her figure was perfectly outlined in the hazy morning light.
Yet, Mo Li didn’t seem to notice this beautiful scene. She looked dazed and asked, “Are your pheromones catnip?”
“Huh?” Mo Wang was confused, thinking Mo Li was joking. “Did Tang Yuan bother you last night?”
Mo Li also found it hard to believe. “I told you I could smell your pheromones, but today I realized your pheromone scent is exactly the same as Tang Yuan’s catnip ball.”
Mo Wang’s expression turned serious. After a moment of thought, she said, “No wonder others can’t detect it.”
Then, with a subtle expression, she remarked, “You really have a cat’s nose, don’t you?”
“But I checked before, our pheromone compatibility is actually quite high. It’s not surprising that you can smell mine.”
Checking pheromone compatibility is something almost every Alpha-Omega couple does. Once the initial excitement of the relationship fades, any issues related to pheromone incompatibility tend to surface.
In some cases, Alpha-Omega pairs with low compatibility may even experience pheromone clashes, causing physical harm to each other when emotions run high.
However, Mo Li never expected that Mo Wang had secretly tested their pheromone compatibility behind her back.
“What’s our compatibility rate?”
“Over 90 percent.” Mo Wang tapped her phone a few times, and a data report appeared on the screen. The results showed high compatibility across all indicators, and based on the collected pheromone data, both were deemed healthy with no signs of mutual aggression.
Their compatibility rate was as high as 95.7%, a remarkable figure. Most couples are satisfied with a compatibility rate of around 80%.
Suddenly curious, Mo Li asked, “When did you do this test?”
Just as she leaned in to take a closer look, Mo Wang abruptly withdrew her phone.
“Qiang Wei Pharmaceuticals is, after all, a medical company. Checking this was just a simple task for them.”
Seeing this, Mo Li didn’t press further. Mo Wang had gone to bed early the previous night, and Mo Li hadn’t eaten anything, so her stomach was now growling loudly.
Not wanting to eat another one of Mo Wang’s salad breakfasts, she decided to take matters into her own hands and headed to the kitchen to prepare something.
But when she opened the refrigerator, she found it almost empty, only a few bottles of water and some black coffee remained.
In the end, the two of them ended up ordering delivery.
Mo Wang showed little interest in the hearty congee and dim sum. “So, what’s your plan now? Preparing for your engagement ceremony with Lin Qianying?”
She speared a tea egg with her fork. “About the incident with her pheromone outburst, she actually went ahead and contacted reporters herself. Though she replaced the images with more flattering ones. The official explanation was that she caught the flu while visiting abandoned children in the slums, which caused her pheromones to become unstable.”
“Now the public is praising her endlessly. She even took the opportunity to announce your engagement. You should really cherish such a kind-hearted Omega.”
Mo Li detected a hint of jealousy in Mo Wang’s tone and quickly clarified, “I haven’t agreed to her proposal yet. I can still back out anytime.”
“Then it’s settled.” Mo Wang sliced the tea egg into eight pieces, speared one with a fork, and absentmindedly brought it to her mouth. Though it was a traditional Chinese breakfast, she ate it as if it were a steak.
“Let’s talk to her when the timing is right. After all, she’s unstable, I’m afraid she might bite someone.”
This aligned perfectly with Mo Li’s own thoughts. She had only reluctantly agreed to the engagement in a moment of anger with Mo Wang, but she knew she and Lin Qianying would never end up together. It would be better to let Lin Qianying get what she wanted and leave satisfied.
With this in mind, Mo Li returned to the company a few days later.
As soon as she stepped through the glass revolving door, whispers began to follow her.
When she entered the elevator, some familiar employees even smiled and offered congratulations: “Congratulations on your engagement.”
By the time she settled into her office, the commotion had only grown.
Mo Li had just called Secretary Su into her office to catch up on the company’s affairs during her absence. Secretary Su brought along a pile of delayed projects and documents.
But before she could report much, people kept interrupting, senior executives and even some board members seemed to be using the engagement as an excuse to offer their congratulations.
Most of these individuals had previously considered Mo Li too young to serve as acting CEO of the Mo Corporation and had often been dismissive of her. Their sudden change in attitude put Mo Li on alert.
She walked to the door, locked it, and drew all the blackout curtains, making it appear as if no one was inside.
“What’s going on?” she asked, looking up at Secretary Su. “Why are all these big shots showing up one after another?”
Secretary Su visibly relaxed. “Miss Lin publicly announced the engagement, and on top of that, your early withdrawal of funds from the Luo Corporation helped the Mo Corporation avoid significant losses. You’re seen as a hero now.”
“Rumors are spreading that Chairman Mo might be handing over full control to you.”
Mo Li understood. The rumors weren’t entirely baseless, her father had indeed hinted at such intentions.
As she flipped through the documents, she asked, “How are Luo Corporation’s stocks? Have they started fluctuating yet?”
Secretary Su frowned. “More than that, they’re plummeting. Once investors saw our withdrawal, they followed suit.”
“Some of Mo Corporation’s projects have also been affected, especially in departments you hadn’t notified in time. However, other investors and projects that terminated contracts with the Luo Corporation have shifted their resources to us.”
Mo Li nodded. These seasoned players likely assumed she had insider information and, with her father showing signs of relinquishing power, were now trying to curry favor.
In reality, the information had come from Mo Wang. All Mo Li had done was trust her.
Had she acted out of self-interest, whether in projects tied to her personal connection with Luo Licheng or major corporate ventures, she might have faced severe backlash by now.
Mo Li let out a long sigh and leaned back in her chair. This time, her gamble had paid off.
But perhaps Mo Wang would be better suited for this position. The office desk and chair, rumored to have been used since the founding of the Mo Corporation, had hard wooden armrests and black leather worn with age, its repaired folds gleaming with a weathered sheen.
Sitting up, it wasn’t even as comfortable as the cheap sofa she had eyed at the furniture store.
Had Mo Wang been talking all along about reclaiming what was rightfully hers, this very seat?
Mo Li stood up, pulled open the sliding window’s partition, and let the light flood in. Then she opened the window pane, allowing fresh air and the clamor of noise to rush into her ears.
She didn’t know what the commotion downstairs was about, so she leaned over to look.
A sleek, pitch-black Bentley was parked below, its elegant lines hinting at its prestigious origins. The flashing lights from reporters’ cameras made the car gleam even more brilliantly.
Behind it, a transparent truck bed was filled with balloons and small decorative gas lights, and in the center stood a pristine white Rolls-Royce adorned with flowers.
Just then, the Bentley’s door opened. A uniformed driver stepped out, then opened the rear door and bowed respectfully as he waited.
Lin Qianying, still dressed in a blazer paired with a pure white skirt, removed her sunglasses and smiled gracefully at the reporters. Then she looked up, meeting Mo Li’s gaze, and flashed a perfect, radiant smile.
