Rich Cat A Would Never Fall in Love with a Fake Heiress - Chapter 19
It was a holiday promotion designed to stimulate spending, so the mall staff didn’t mind them kissing through their masks and enthusiastically handed them a few discount coupons.
Once inside, they slowly ascended the escalator. As soon as Mo Wang stepped into the clothing store, she was in her element, darting left and right with ease.
Mo Wang had a good eye, picking out only the latest styles that weren’t on sale. Soon, the sales assistant following her was holding a small stack of clothes.
Before heading into the fitting room, she critically scanned Mo Li’s outfit, a V-neck thick coat paired with a short, buttoned skirt, a rigid office style that made it seem like she could grab a bag and head straight to work at a counter.
But Mo Li was tall, with broad shoulders and a slender waist. The collar of her coat was half-open, yet the fabric draped loosely and gathered neatly at her waist. Below the skirt, two well-proportioned long legs extended, making the outfit look anything but rigid. Instead, it exuded a lazy, untamed charm.
Some people were just born to wear clothes well. Mo Wang glanced at her a few more times before looking away and picking a flaw: “Do you only wear this one style of clothing all year round?”
Mo Li shrugged indifferently. “What’s wrong with that? It saves me the trouble of deciding what to wear when I go out.”
Mo Wang walked back to the clothing rack, pulled out a few pieces, and shoved them into Mo Li’s arms. “Try these on.”
With that, she carried her own stack into the fitting room.
Mo Li held the clothes in her arms, sizing them up in the changing room. The sales assistants here were exceptionally enthusiastic, having already prepared a complete set with accessories like necklaces and belts. It took Mo Li quite some time to put everything on properly.
When she stepped out, the sales assistant waiting by the door lit up and spared no effort in praising her.
“It looks soft and beautiful. You should wear this style more often, it really suits you.”
Mo Li looked at herself in the mirror. A beret paired with a light brown mesh-thin coat and a one-shoulder white camisole underneath, it was cool and form-fitting, almost as if she had become a different person.
Feeling a bit embarrassed by the compliments, she averted her gaze and noticed that Mo Wang had already packed up her own stack of clothes and was lazily scrolling through her phone on the sofa.
Hearing the commotion, Mo Wang looked up and gave an ambiguous smile. “I should’ve told you to go home and change.”
Meeting her gaze, Mo Li couldn’t help but recall the brief, fleeting kiss from earlier. She tugged at her skirt and turned her head away uncomfortably.
Mo Wang walked over, wrapped her hands around Mo Li’s waist, and gently tied the knot on her skirt. Her movements were meticulous and careful, as if she were tenderly stroking a dew-covered petal.
“All done,” Mo Wang said, straightening up and addressing the sales assistant. “We’ll wear this set out. Please pack up her original clothes.”
The sales assistant beamed. “That will be 18,957 yuan in total. Will you be paying by card or cash?”
Mo Wang pulled out her card and handed it to the assistant, then turned to Mo Li. “Your set is 6,500. Transfer the money to me later.”
Thinking the shopping was over, Mo Li soon realized that Mo Wang was far from finished. For the rest of the trip, Mo Wang kept browsing, buying several more outfits for both of them, all from expensive brands.
Mo Li trailed behind, her hands full of shopping bags, with one even hanging around her neck, completely obscuring the new clothes she was wearing.
Half out of breath, she complained, “Do you spend all your money on clothes and houses?”
Mo Wang nodded. “Houses are fixed assets, and branded clothes can be resold. Though some custom-made pieces aren’t as easy to sell.”
“Can’t help it. At business gatherings and social events, if you don’t dress well, people will mock you and make things difficult.”
Mo Li shrugged, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
Mo Wang lowered her sunglasses and glanced back with a smile. “Even if President Mo wears a tattered shirt, people would still call it the latest fashion trend. You probably wouldn’t understand that feeling.”
She patted Mo Li’s shoulder and stepped onto the express elevator.
“But it’s just as well. Dressing up occasionally can be quite stunning. If you had people chasing after you every day, I wouldn’t be able to bear it.”
Mo Li was momentarily stunned, then slipped sideways into the elevator just before the doors fully closed.
After dropping off their shopping bags downstairs, the two pushed a cart and headed to the basement level to pick up some fresh ingredients.
Watching Mo Wang wander around the vegetable section, meticulously picking and choosing, Mo Li couldn’t resist leaning closer to ask, “Are you good at cooking?”
Mo Wang casually tossed a bundle of scallions into the cart and brushed off nonexistent dust from her hands.
“Just average.”
Mo Wang pushed the cart through every aisle until the groceries formed a small mountain peak, giving the impression she intended to stay at Mo Li’s place long-term.
After paying, as they were checking the receipt and about to head back to the car, a sweet, gentle voice spoke up.
“Um, I noticed you bought a lot of things. Would you like me to give you a ride?”
Mo Li turned to find a fair-skinned girl standing behind her, nervously clutching her sleeves. Her cheeks were faintly flushed, but her gaze was bold and direct as it settled on Mo Li. Judging by the inhibitor patch on the back of her neck, she was likely an Omega.
Though there were two people present, she spoke only to Mo Li, her intentions couldn’t have been clearer.
At the same time, Mo Li felt Mo Wang’s intense stare fixed on the back of her neck, making her shoulders tense.
She waved her hand politely in refusal. “No need, we drove here.”
Hearing this, the girl took out a business card and held it out with both hands toward Mo Li. “Big sister, maybe you could contact me later-”
“Sorry to interrupt,” Mo Wang suddenly cut in. She pulled a coupon from her bag and smiled gently. “I forgot to use one of the coupons. You two chat, I’ll go grab a few more things.”
With that, she leisurely walked back toward the shopping area.
The girl’s expression shifted when she noticed the Qixi Festival heart symbol on the coupon.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t realize you two were together,” she apologized, though her hand holding the card didn’t withdraw. “Since we’ve met like this, it must be fate. Could we still be friends?”
Mo Li was growing impatient. She glanced around, but Mo Wang had already disappeared from sight. She wanted to follow and find her, but the girl stubbornly blocked her path.
Annoyed, Mo Li frowned and spoke sharply.
“If meeting a stranger once counts as fate, then my fate must be pretty cheap.”
The Omega, stung by the blunt rejection, withdrew her hand. Tears welled in her eyes, and as her emotions surged, the concentration of her pheromones slowly rose. A sweet, honey-like fragrance began to drift through the air, drawing attention from those nearby.
Mo Li, whose sense of smell was sharper than most, felt slightly uncomfortable from the overwhelming scent and pinched the bridge of her nose.
Seeing this, the Omega began to sob.
As onlookers assumed Mo Li had made the Omega cry, their gazes turned reproachful, and whispers grew louder.
Mo Li, however, was never one to yield to moral pressure. She let out a cold laugh, scanned the crowd, and glared back defiantly.
She started to walk away, but the Omega tried to block her again, only to be pushed aside as Mo Li gripped her shoulder and moved her out of the way.
“If you’re that emotionally fragile, you shouldn’t try picking up strangers.”
In her haste, the Omega reached out to grab Mo Li’s hand, but halfway there, her wrist was gently caught from behind. Though the grip seemed light, she couldn’t move an inch.
A soft voice whispered close to her ear.
“Don’t touch.”
Startled, the Omega turned her head, only to feel a weight on her shoulder. The Alpha’s light-chestnut-haired girlfriend was half-embracing her, skillfully restricting her movements.
A faint scent drifted over, not pheromones, but the fragrance of shower gel.
She thought disdainfully.
Just a Beta who doesn’t even dare show her face, someone who could never satisfy an Alpha’s interests. Eighty percent of Alphas ultimately choose Omegas as partners. I’m prettier and more suitable than her.
The Omega put on a tearful, pitiful smile. “Just making friends. You seem like a generous person, you wouldn’t mind, right?”
Mo Wang raised an eyebrow meaningfully. “So, if I mind, I’m petty?”
The Omega didn’t answer directly, lowering her eyes with a hidden smirk. “You wouldn’t stop her from pursuing a better option, would you?”
Seeing Mo Wang return, Mo Li felt relieved and strode over.
“Don’t listen to her nonsense. Let’s go.”
Mo Wang didn’t speak, instead pulling an inhibitor patch from her bag and pressing it firmly onto the girl’s nape.
The girl grew alert and reached to tear it off. “What are you doing?” But no matter how hard she tried, it was useless.
The scent gradually faded, and the onlookers turned away.
“Don’t worry, it’ll fall off naturally in two hours.” Mo Wang patted her shoulder. “Shen Luoqi, stop buying cheap inhibitors, they’re bad for your health. If you can’t find a job, I can contact your father.”
“How do you know?” Shen Luoqi visibly shrank back, withdrawing her hand warily as she stared at Mo Wang.
Mo Wang straightened up and explained to Mo Li, “A runaway kid trying to hook a sugar daddy at a high-end supermarket.”
Mo Li suddenly understood and turned to Shen Luoqi, whose eyes had lit up with renewed hope. “You’ve misunderstood. This outfit was paid for by her, and the car is hers too. Look, the car keys are in her bag, along with freshly issued VIP cards. Even the diamonds she’s wearing are custom-made and genuine.”
“So,” Mo Li wrapped an arm around Mo Wang’s shoulders, pulling her close, “what makes you think you’re better than her? Don’t stand in the way of me pursuing the better option.”
Shen Luoqi’s expression shifted completely, shedding the pitiful act for one of irritation and anger.
She glared at Mo Li several times before turning to leave, muttering under her breath, “What bad luck. A freeloading Alpha.”
As she passed Mo Wang, she instantly switched to a perfect smile, slipping a business card into Mo Wang’s hand.
“Call me if you need anything, sis.” She shot another glare at Mo Li. “Unlike her, I’m not wasteful. I won’t squander your money recklessly.”
