- Chapter 7 - Mentally Challenged Children Have the Most Fun
Yan Mingyue stood in the bathroom, teeth clenched as he gingerly touched his bruised eye socket. He wished he could charge back out and fight Jin Xi for another three hundred rounds.
Damn, it hurts like hell! What kind of madness had possessed Jin Xi? He had suddenly lunged forward and delivered a flurry of punches and kicks without saying a single word.
“Waaaaah!”
Before Yan Mingyue could even start crying, Jin Xi’s earth-shattering wails erupted from outside first. As the saying goes, “Endure for a moment and lose all your hair; take a step back and get angrier the more you think about it.” Besides, was Yan Mingyue someone who could be bullied so easily?
With a sharp shout of “Tai!”, Yan Mingyue kicked open the bathroom door. His clothes fluttered, unintentionally radiating a sense of overwhelming pressure. He wielded the toothbrush in his hand with the majestic aura of the Green Dragon Crescent Blade, pointing it directly at Jin Xi as he roared, “You shameless little thief! You dare wound my face? I shall use your dog’s life as a sacrifice for my beauty!”
At the sound of Yan Mingyue’s furious roar, Jin Xi’s body recoiled. Like a startled rabbit, he scrambled to hide behind Gu Yuebai, even clinging tightly to the man’s thigh in terror.
“Aaahhh! Brother! Old Bai! He’s coming to hit me!”
The face hiding behind Gu Yuebai was swollen like a pig’s head, and he only dared to peek out cautiously.
Yan Mingyue brandished his toothbrush with a series of sweeping motions, charging toward the howling Jin Xi without hesitation.
Refusing to be outdone, Jin Xi, despite his pig-like face, let out a roar of his own. He grabbed an alcohol-soaked cotton swab from a nearby table and lunged back at Yan Mingyue.
The two of them were like a pair of “mentally challenged children,” chasing each other around the cold-faced Gu Yuebai and trading blows back and forth.
Gu Yuebai had not played such a childish game since elementary school. He never expected to witness it today in a university dormitory; it was truly a rare sight.
These two kindergarten-level students continued throwing things at each other, completely failing to notice that Gu Yuebai’s face was turning darker by the second, as if ink were about to drip from his skin.
With a loud slap, Yan Mingyue’s toothbrush struck Gu Yuebai’s handsome face. Simultaneously, Jin Xi’s alcohol swab struck Gu Yuebai squarely in the back.
“Hahaha! You idiot, you can’t hit me!”
Yan Mingyue’s arrogant laughter stopped abruptly, as if the scruff of his neck had been seized by the invisible hand of fate. His eyes widened in horror as he silently backed away from the dangerous source of the threat: Gu Yuebai.
Seeing this, Jin Xi felt his vision swim. He wished he could drop dead on the spot. Offending Gu Yuebai was a fate worse than death; he would rather take himself out now just to make it quick.
Truly, “Death is like the wind, always by my side.”
Gu Yuebai took a deep breath, actually finding himself driven to a frustrated laugh by these two. He grabbed one “child” in each hand and, struggling to suppress his rage, growled, “You, go to the infirmary. And you,” he turned his gaze toward Yan Mingyue, who was shrinking back like a quail. Taking another deep breath, he continued, “You, go take a shower.”
The remains of a “pancake lump” were still smeared on Yan Mingyue’s clothes, emitting a pungent aroma.
Jin Xi did not dare disobey. His slightly curly hair drooped like a Teddy bear that had lost a fight. “Understood.”
His face was indeed too swollen to be seen. To avoid being photographed and shamed on the school forums, he pulled a mask from his pocket, put it on, and bolted out the door, fearing that if he lingered, Gu Yuebai might regret his mercy and claim his life.
Once Jin Xi was gone, Yan Mingyue’s anger mostly dissipated. His previous arrogance vanished, replaced by a flattering tone. “Gu Yuebai, let me go, okay? My neck is getting a bit squeezed.” He reached into his pocket, pulled out two slightly squashed buns, and pressed them into Gu Yuebai’s palm.
Looking closely, Gu Yuebai saw they were custard buns shaped like rabbits. Though deformed from the pressure, they still smelled of a sweet, milky fragrance, which was a scent he quite liked.
“Since your breakfast was ruined, I still have these two custard buns. Take them to tide you over for now.” Yan Mingyue gave a cheeky grin, grabbed a pair of Crayon Shin-chan underwear from his dresser, and hurried into the bathroom, softly clicking the door shut.
The love-hate entanglements of the three seemed to have nothing to do with Lu Renjia. He sat in the corner with a wide grin, munching on his pancake and enjoying the show.
“Lu-la-la, lu-la-la.”
The bathroom was spacious, and Yan Mingyue’s singing echoed clearly into the ears of the two in the room.
Gu Yuebai looked down at the warm custard buns in his hand, and a smile unconsciously tugged at the corners of his mouth. Only Yan Mingyue would use such a clumsy method of ingratiation.
He sat down, looked at the pitiful rabbit buns, and took a bite out of a rabbit ear. It was fragrant and sweet, and he liked it very much.
Yan Mingyue finished his shower in a hurry. Just as he picked up his Shin-chan underwear, he realized something unfortunate: in his haste, he had forgotten to bring a change of clothes. After a second of deliberation, he decided to walk out “candidly.”
Yan Mingyue had a great physique. He was not the weak, delicate type often described in novels. On the contrary, at 1.8 meters tall, he possessed a layer of lean muscle. His legs were long and fair; even standing there in just his underwear, he was quite the sight.
The bathroom was steamy, and the sudden draft of the room felt a bit chilly. Shivering slightly, Yan Mingyue slid open the large glass balcony door to step inside.
Gu Yuebai was a slow eater. By the time Yan Mingyue emerged from the shower, Gu Yuebai was still holding the last rabbit bun, examining it closely.
“Damn, it is cold.”
The air conditioning seemed a bit too low. Yan Mingyue, fresh from the shower, immediately broke out in goosebumps. He rubbed his arms and muttered a quiet complaint.
Hearing the voice, Gu Yuebai turned his head, only to see Yan Mingyue, clad in nothing but underwear, shivering as he bent over his wardrobe to rummage for clothes.
Yan Mingyue’s lean, powerful waist was slightly arched, and there were still traces of water on his long, white legs. It was a dazzling sight.
For some reason, Gu Yuebai suddenly felt a surge of heat in his nose, as if a fierce beast were trying to break free.
Yan Mingyue found his clothes and turned around, only to be horrified by the sight of his roommate.
“Gu Yuebai! Why is your nose bleeding?!”
Compared to Yan Mingyue’s panic, Gu Yuebai remained remarkably calm. He waved a hand dismissively, casually wiped away the blood with a tissue, and pressed a few more against his nose. Once he was sure it would not leak, he spoke with a muffled voice:
“Oh, it is nothing. I have just been a bit ‘internally heated’ lately.”
