Remarried to the Capital's Elite: I Use Metaphysics to Rule! - Chapter 3
Ignoring the auntie, Yun Mojiu took the sweat towel with one hand while using the other to trace a talisman in the air.
Then, she quickly strode toward the road on the right side of the hospital.
“Come on, let’s follow and see.”
“Yeah, let’s go.”
A few idle onlookers, curious, trailed after her.
But they soon realized that even running, they couldn’t keep up with Yun Mojiu!
She appeared to be walking at a leisurely pace, so why was she moving so fast?!
By the time they panted their way through two streets and turned into a narrow alley, they saw two men and an older woman lying pitifully on the ground, while Yun Mojiu stood calmly, holding an unconscious child.
“She actually found them! Damn, that’s incredible!”
One person exclaimed in disbelief.
But soon, someone noticed something off.
“Wait, I remember the missing child was a girl, but the one she’s holding is a boy.”
“Tch, I told you it couldn’t be real. How could anyone find a missing person just by using a sweat towel? If that were possible, there wouldn’t be so many missing persons cases, and the police would be useless,” someone muttered.
“Exactly, she’s definitely a fraud.”
The group’s gazes toward Yun Mojiu turned skeptical.
“Is she heading back now?”
“Let’s follow and see how she explains this!”
“Yeah, and when the police arrive, we can report her for fraud!”
They followed Yun Mojiu back.
By then, the police had already arrived.
Some officers were checking the hospital’s surveillance footage, others were questioning bystanders, while two were speaking with Qin Meng.
Qin Meng’s eyes were red from crying.
When she looked up and saw Yun Mojiu approaching, she immediately ran over in agitation.
The two officers, the auntie from earlier, and several other bystanders followed.
“This is…”
As she got closer, Qin Meng noticed the child in Yun Mojiu’s arms was dressed completely differently from her daughter.
She hesitated, her heart uneasy.
“This is your daughter,” Yun Mojiu said calmly.
“Bullshit! That’s clearly a boy!”
The auntie immediately retorted.
“I told you she was a fraud! This lady just said her missing child was a girl wearing a princess dress, but you’re holding a little boy!”
The crowd buzzed with murmurs, their expressions clearly echoing the auntie’s skepticism.
“Then where did this child come from? Did she steal him?”
“My god, and right in front of the police!”
Yun Mojiu ignored the surrounding accusations.
She simply took two steps forward, stopping in front of Qin Meng.
Earlier, due to the angle, the child’s face had been nestled against Yun Mojiu’s chest, making it hard for Qin Meng to see clearly.
Now, up close, she finally got a good look at the child’s face.
Tears instantly streamed down her cheeks, tears of joy and overwhelming relief.
“Yiyi!”
She hurriedly took the child from Yun Mojiu’s arms.
The crowd was stunned by her reaction.
Huh?
What was going on?
Could this child really be her daughter?
But the description she gave earlier didn’t match at all!
“Sweetie, is this really your daughter?” the auntie asked, voicing everyone’s thoughts.
Qin Meng gently stroked the little girl’s pale face, her heart aching. “Yes, this is my Yiyi.”
With the confirmation, the crowd’s gazes toward Yun Mojiu instantly changed.
“It’s actually true!”
“Who on earth is she? She really found the child just by using a sweat towel!”
“This is incredible! Did I somehow cross over into some magical new world?”
“What exactly happened? Can someone explain it to me?”
Bystanders who were clueless asked curiously, while those in the know eagerly recounted the story.
Even the two police officers couldn’t help but take a few more curious glances at Yun Mojiu.
Yun Mojiu stepped forward.
“The traffickers are in an alley not far ahead. When I got there, they had just cut the child’s hair and changed her clothes. If you go now, you should be able to catch them.”
She had used a immobilization talisman, those three wouldn’t be going anywhere.
After a brief explanation, she casually pointed to one of the boys who had followed her earlier.
“He knows the way. Just follow him.”
This boy happened to be the one who had mocked Yun Mojiu the most earlier.
The boy, already panting from running back and forth: “…”
This was revenge.
Plain and simple revenge!
The child had a heart condition and was now unconscious, her situation was critical. After thanking Yun Mojiu, Qin Meng hurriedly took her to the hospital.
Once Yun Mojiu had given her statement, she quickly hailed a taxi under the crowd’s watchful eyes and left.
No sooner had she gotten into the car than her phone rang.
Glancing at the caller ID, she answered.
“Mojiu, are you okay? Which hospital are you at? We’re coming right now.”
The moment the call connected, a worried voice immediately came through.
Then, two more urgent voices followed.
“Silly child, how could you be so reckless? If anything happened to you, how could I go on living?”
“Mojiu, did that Xie Jingling bully you? I’m going to settle the score with him right now!”
Hearing these long-missed voices, Yun Mojiu’s eyes grew slightly moist.
After crossing into another world and becoming an orphan, she finally understood just how fortunate she had been before.
Though she wasn’t her parents’ biological daughter, they were nothing like the cruel adoptive parents in TV dramas or novels who abused or neglected their adopted children while favoring their own. Instead, they treated her and her younger sister equally, raising her with the same care and love as their own. Whatever her sister had, she never lacked for anything, she had been cherished like a princess since childhood.
Her younger sister wasn’t the type of scheming white lotus from novels who would pretend to be sweet while secretly sabotaging her sibling to win favor. She genuinely saw Yun Mojiu as her own sister, always clinging to her and acting spoiled. And if anyone dared to bully Yun Mojiu, her sister would be the first to rush to her defense.
Her greatest regret was that, in her determination to marry Xie Jingling, she had fought with her family for the first and only time.
Her parents believed Xie Jingling wasn’t the right man for her and opposed the marriage.
But back then, she had been utterly poisoned by her infatuation and insisted on marrying him.
Her mother had even fallen ill from anger, but in the end, for her sake, they relented.
Only, Xie Jingling made her lose that bet.
Lost everything.
Looking back now, she wanted to slap her past self!
For the sake of an unworthy man, she had hurt her family’s feelings.
That was why, after waking up, she had delayed calling home.
She was ashamed. She regretted it. She didn’t know how to even begin explaining.
Hearing the concerned voices of her family at this moment, she could no longer hold back her tears, which silently trickled down from the corners of her eyes.
“Dad, Mom, little sister… I miss home.”
Her choked voice struggled to escape her throat.
