- Chapter 68 - The Actress's Blushing Face
“I’m fine…”
Although Xie Jingcheng wasn’t particularly keen on engaging with the bodyguards or the inquiries from her family, she still responded obediently to the person next to her.
“But why do I feel like you’re not fine?”
Song Qingxing leaned her entire body against Xie Jingcheng, looking down at her. She felt unhappy, sensing that the other woman was hiding something from her. She reached out and lifted Xie Jingcheng’s chin.
“Don’t bear it alone.”
“Tell me, are you still uncomfortable? I can help you. You don’t have to worry about my injured hand.”
Xie Jingcheng had nowhere to retreat and could only close her eyes and nod.
“I didn’t expect the side effects of this wine to be so strong. I held out for so long, but I still couldn’t resist it.”
It was just a glass of wine, wasn’t it?
Normally, she could handle it easily, but at this moment, Xie Jingcheng realized what it felt like to have weak limbs.
It felt as if a wicked fire was surging and burning within her body; she couldn’t suppress it. Even though her body had just been wiped clean, sweat was already reappearing on her temples and forehead.
Xie Jingcheng’s voice lacked its usual coolness; it was faint and weak, as if a piece of candy had been placed in her throat and melted by high temperature, sticking there and making her words sound soft and mushy.
“It seems the doctor wasn’t wrong. I need to help you resolve this.”
Song Qingxing rested her chin on Xie Jingcheng’s collarbone, her nose tracing a line down her cheek, moving little by little.
“Qingxing, what are you doing?”
Xie Jingcheng’s pupils dilated; she seemed to realize something. She didn’t want this; she didn’t want the other person to help her only because she was in such a state of distress…
“Whenever something happens, I’m the one asking you for help. Now, I should help you too.”
Song Qingxing’s voice was muffled by the quilt, sounding a little stuffy because it was covered by a thick layer of cotton.
Xie Jingcheng could feel the tip of the other woman’s upturned nose touching her skin. Her face flushed completely, and she could only cover her eyes with the back of her hand.
This feeling, this sensation, was something she had never experienced before.
“Qingxing… you don’t have to do this…”
The last few sentences were intermittent and incomplete.
Xie Jingcheng felt as if she was plunging into an endless abyss, her body heating up and then cooling down.
Finally, the last trace of searing heat burned out, hidden in the ashes, persistent and unending.
The morning sun couldn’t penetrate the interior through the curtains, but because the curtains hadn’t been drawn tightly, a playful ray of sunlight skipped across the floor and shone onto a face.
Song Qingxing felt dizzy and groggy, prompting her to open her eyes vaguely.
The first thing she saw was Xie Jingcheng’s exquisite chin. It turned out she had unconsciously nestled in the other woman’s arms while sleeping.
Song Qingxing’s arm felt a little sore, due to the injury. She was just about to get up and change her dressing.
The doctor had left medicine and bandaging supplies for her. Song Qingxing thought that if she wrapped the bandage thinner, it might not affect filming, as the high school uniforms usually covered the area below the shoulders.
However, just as she was getting up, the person beside her stirred. Xie Jingcheng opened her eyes drowsily and looked at Song Qingxing.
In that instant, all the memories from last night flooded back.
“You’re awake?”
Xie Jingcheng’s cheeks and ears were crimson, but she insisted on pretending nothing was wrong, simply asking a question.
“Yes, I need to change my dressing.”
Song Qingxing suddenly remembered something and crawled over completely, resting her hands on the soft bedding, examining Xie Jingcheng carefully.
She reached out and rubbed the other woman’s cheek.
Xie Jingcheng’s body was no longer burning hot, confirming she was fully recovered. Song Qingxing felt joy in her heart, and at the same time, a sense of relief.
“I’ll help you change it.”
“You helped me yesterday.”
Xie Jingcheng lifted the quilt and got out of bed. Her beautiful legs were long and slender, comparable to a marble sculpture by a master artist, perfectly interpreting the human form.
“Thank you for the trouble.”
Song Qingxing was too lazy to move, so she sat on the bed and waited.
After all, she was indeed tired yesterday. She couldn’t help but prop up her chin; even now, her chin felt a little sore.
Xie Jingcheng quickly returned with the medicine and bandages.
“Your phone kept ringing yesterday. Aren’t you going to check your messages?”
As the bandage that the doctor had wrapped earlier was slowly unwound, Song Qingxing thought of chatting about some trivial things.
“It’s probably just messages about how to deal with Peng Zhien.”
“I don’t really want to look at them.”
“I already told Yu Zhi how I want to handle it; they’ll understand.”
As Xie Jingcheng finished speaking, she completely unwrapped the bandage. Her pupils slightly contracted because the situation under the bandage was not good.
The originally fair skin had now begun to show bruising. Although the wound was scabbed over, it was clear how hard that strike had been.
It wasn’t just Peng Zhien and his group of accomplices; the person who stood up to toast and the assistant director were also involved.
A flash of ruthlessness crossed Xie Jingcheng’s eyes. She didn’t just want the person to lose their reputation; she wanted them to be unable to return to this industry.
Merely a prison sentence would be letting them off lightly.
“You didn’t have to bother with me at the time. My bodyguards could have made it in time.”
Gently dabbing the powdered medicine onto the wound with a cotton swab, Xie Jingcheng’s heart was filled with distress.
“How could I not? I’m not a cold-blooded person.”
Song Qingxing was a little speechless. Just as she said this, she felt a pressure on her shoulder, causing her to purse her lips in pain, her voice changing pitch.
“Sorry, I haven’t applied medicine to anyone before, so I didn’t know how much pressure to use.”
Xie Jingcheng was flustered. As a rich young lady, this was indeed the first time she had done such work, and she lacked a sense of proportion. She needed to use a little force to ensure the powdered medicine was fully rubbed into the wound.
“It’s okay.”
“Hurry up and apply the medicine; we have a lot of things to deal with.”
Things concerning the film crew, things concerning those individuals, and how to deal with Peng Zhien.
Xie Jingcheng patiently finished applying the medicine. The two of them then carefully washed up before leaving the room.
Stepping out, they saw several people standing outside the door. These individuals were in suits and ties, which gave Song Qingxing quite a shock. If this hadn’t been a high-class Presidential Suite, with only one or two rooms on the entire floor, this group of people would surely have startled the other residents.
“Miss, all of them have gone to the police station.”
The bodyguard bowed his head.
Xie Jingcheng and Song Qingxing, as the parties involved, should actually have gone as well, but one was injured and the other had been affected by the drug, so they could only rest temporarily and wait until the next day to go to the police station.
“Understood.”
Song Qingxing found these people unfamiliar, presumably they were from Xie Jingcheng’s family side.
Now that she had encountered such a major problem, her family certainly wouldn’t let it go. How many bad things had Peng Zhien done?
It was impossible for him not to be severely punished.
Xie Jingcheng slowly entered the elevator, noticing that Song Qingxing was a little apprehensive.
She understood why the other woman was feeling uneasy.
So, she reached out and proactively took Song Qingxing’s hand.
“It’s alright, they just look intimidating.”
“I’m here. You don’t need to be afraid.”
