Reborn as a Scummy Alpha, I Became Every Heroine's Obsession - Chapter 41
Wen Rui counted on her fingers as she calculated aloud.
“A month and a half ago, Gu Qiqi went on a mission that lasted two weeks. That means the mission started a month ago. And a month ago, President Feng happened to be in her sensitive period.”
Gu Qiqi looked completely confused.
Xiao Qi.
Xiao Qi was the little calico kitten she and Feng Jiying had rescued together.
Just thinking about the soft, fluffy kitten made Gu Qiqi’s fingers itch. She really missed petting her.
Wen Rui continued.
“Did you have a prenatal checkup? The birth rate in the Interstellar Federation has been dropping year by year. Omegas are no longer allowed to terminate pregnancies. President Feng, are you really prepared to give up your inheritance for this?”
Feng Jiying calmly adjusted the metal frame of her glasses.
“I believe a cat is not eligible to inherit anything.”
The room went quiet for a few seconds.
Wen Rui blinked, then said,
“A cat?”
Liu Huaiqing suddenly remembered the kitten she had seen at the entrance of Gu Qiqi’s dorm. She recalled how the tiny, beautifully colored head of the cat would sometimes poke out from Feng Jiying’s shirt collar.
Gu Qiqi’s expression turned blank with disbelief.
“Wen Rui, what are you even thinking? Xiao Qi is just a little kitten that Feng Jiying and I found together. The academy doesn’t allow pets in student dorms, so I asked her to take care of the cat for me. But then I was suddenly assigned a mission and didn’t have time to explain everything to her.”
Her words, especially the part about not explaining properly, exposed the truth. Feng Jiying had clearly lied earlier when she claimed to know about the mission. Liu Huaiqing caught the slip and glanced at Feng Jiying, a small smirk tugging at her lips.
Her eyes clearly implied, “So you lied.”
She watched with quiet amusement as her gaze shifted between Feng Jiying and Gu Qiqi.
Feng Jiying clenched her hand into a fist and coughed lightly into it.
“Since you haven’t forgotten, then you should know what you promised. You agreed I could take care of the kitten, but you also said you’d be responsible for buying food and litter, cleaning up after her, and visiting regularly. If you made that commitment, you need to follow through.”
Gu Qiqi threw off the blanket in one swift motion.
“Who says I can’t keep my promise?”
Wen Rui looked furious. Her fox-like eyes burned with frustration. It suddenly dawned on her that the three of them had known the truth all along, while she had been left in the dark, made to believe something entirely different.
She realized now she had just made a fool of herself in front of everyone.
The tense atmosphere that had filled the treatment room a moment ago had vanished. In its place was lighthearted chatter and laughter.
Their voices drifted through the walls and into the neighboring treatment room, where Zhao Zhongtian was taking care of his brother Zhao Ruri.
Zhao Ruri lay unconscious on the hospital bed, his face contorted in pain. He mumbled something repeatedly under his breath.
Zhao Zhongtian leaned in, trying to hear what he was saying. He could just barely make out three faint words.
“Gu Qiqi.”
The voice was low and unclear. Zhao Ruri’s teeth were clenched so tightly that it sounded like the name was being forced out through his teeth.
After days of listening, Zhao Zhongtian finally heard it clearly today. He immediately connected those three syllables to Gu Qiqi.
He was now convinced that the person his brother had been calling for all this time was her.
Zhao Ruri had become like this after the student council elections at the 330 Military Academy.
Zhao Zhongtian had spent the last two weeks searching for answers but found nothing.
He reviewed all the academy’s surveillance footage and only saw Zhao Ruri walking from the training field into the main teaching building.
Strangely, the cameras in the teaching building had all been hacked on that day. It was almost as if someone had known in advance and wiped the footage.
The next thing visible on the footage was Zhao Ruri running out of the building, looking panicked and unstable.
Gu Qiqi.
Zhao Zhongtian clenched his fists tightly. His mind raced as he tried to reconstruct that day. Had his brother said something to Gu Qiqi? Perhaps something like, “The student council president should’ve been me,” which upset her? Did she retaliate?
He stepped quietly, sneaking toward the door of the treatment room where Gu Qiqi was recovering.
His pale face, the way he tiptoed, and his suspicious expression made him look nothing like a caring brother. If anything, he looked like someone with ill intentions.
He peeked through the narrow gap in the door and saw the scene inside.
Warm light filled the room. Laughter rang out clearly.
Three Omegas were gathered around one Alpha.
And that Alpha was none other than Gu Qiqi — the person he wanted to destroy more than anyone.
Zhao Zhongtian’s eyes burned with hatred.
Maybe his brother had been right all along. If Gu Qiqi had never existed, the one standing in that spotlight would have been him.
He should have been the one admired by Feng Jiying, Liu Huaiqing, and Wen Rui.
But because of Gu Qiqi, he was overshadowed and forgotten. Now he was like a rat hiding in the shadows, watching as others basked in the light.
He clenched his fists tighter.
Resentment and bitterness festered inside him like a disease.
His bloodshot eyes locked onto her with venom. If Gu Qiqi disappeared, if his brother had been the one to rescue those Omegas, maybe they would have been the ones standing in that room now.
She had been targeted by the principal too, yet nothing happened to her.
Why does Gu Qiqi get to live so freely and happily, while they suffer humiliation?
They were both Alphas born in the border region.
His spiritual power was even stronger than hers.
Gu Qiqi, as a 3S-plus Alpha, had exceptional self-healing abilities.
By that afternoon, her injuries were nearly healed. But she couldn’t help noticing something odd.
Gu Qingyun still hadn’t contacted her.
What had happened in the past two weeks?
No one could explain it, and Gu Qingyun was now missing.
Had the system simply skipped two weeks of storyline?
Or had she forgotten something important?
The system chimed in with its usual smug tone.
“Host, why are you overthinking it? This is an XXOO adult-rated game system. What storyline are you expecting? As long as you behave, complete your main tasks, and avoid triggering the main characters’ intense drama, everything will be fine. You’ll even get a chance to change your fate. I’ve told you this before, but you never listen.”
Gu Qiqi rolled her eyes without saying a word.
As she walked out of the 330 Academy building, she stretched her arms.
She suddenly thought of Xiao Qi. She hadn’t seen the kitten in two weeks. It must have grown and gained some weight.
She wondered if that heartless little thing had forgotten her now that it had a new caregiver.
She had barely taken a few steps when she noticed two luxury cars trailing behind her.
One of them was clearly Feng Jiying’s car. The other one she didn’t recognize.
The two vehicles pulled up beside her, trapping her in between like a pincer.
The windows slowly rolled down. Each car had only a driver.
From the first car, Xiao Bai raised his hand in a casual salute.
“Miss Gu, long time no see. Want a ride? We’re heading to President Feng’s place to check on Xiao Qi.”
The other window came down too. Xiao Zhi removed his sunglasses and gave a whistle.
“Miss Gu, remember me?”
Gu Qiqi immediately recognized him. He was the one who pretended to be a government employee in front of the civil office.
Xiao Zhi grinned, showing off his bright white teeth.
“Looks like you do remember. Hop in. Our boss wants to finalize the forced match agreement with you.”
“After all, you and President Feng started the match period without completing any legal paperwork. Sure, President Feng is powerful, and the Federation can’t do much about her, but our boss is different. Our boss follows the law and will make sure your rights are protected.”
“She would never treat you the way certain other people did.”
Xiao Bai immediately looked offended.
“Hey! Who are you mocking over there? What do you mean by ‘some people’? Our president treats Miss Gu with the utmost care and affection. What do you know about that?”
Xiao Zhi pursed his lips and made an exaggerated teasing face.
“Someone’s getting upset, but I won’t say who. Some people rely on their powerful family background. Everyone bows to them out of fear, but they really think they’re someone important. Unlike our boss, who built her law firm from scratch without relying on anyone. She offers free legal consultation to Omegas across the entire interstellar society. If certain people really had the courage, they’d give up their inheritance. But no, they just can’t let go.”
Xiao Bai’s eyes flared with anger. He looked like he was ready to jump out of the car and tear Xiao Zhi’s mouth apart.
“You better watch your words. Our president controls eighty percent of the interstellar economy. She could easily shut down your boss’s law firm.”
“Oh no, I’m so scared. Truly terrifying. But if that happened, wouldn’t President Feng become public enemy number one to every Omega in the galaxy? Imagine the only place protecting Omega rights being destroyed by her personal secretary.”
Gu Qiqi stood between them, her head pounding from all the shouting.
She quietly bent her knees, stepped back, and slipped away unnoticed.
After sneaking off a few steps, she looked back and saw both Xiao Bai and Xiao Zhi had gotten out of their cars and were already tangled in a hair-pulling fight.
Well then.
Gu Qiqi shook her head. She didn’t understand, and frankly, she had no energy to get involved.
At the Feng family villa,
Gu Qiqi was surprised to find she could enter the place without any security checks. No one stopped her. Even facial recognition granted her access immediately.
When she opened the door, she saw Feng Jiying half-kneeling on the soft carpet, hands clasped together, eyes lifted upward as if she were preparing to catch something falling from above.
Following her line of sight, Gu Qiqi spotted the mischievous Xiao Qi. The kitten was dancing around wildly on a cat climbing frame mounted to the wall.
Feng Jiying noticed her in the corner of her eye. When she saw Gu Qiqi, she quickly pulled her hands back and adjusted her glasses with practiced calm.
“What are you doing here?”
Gu Qiqi raised an eyebrow.
“President Feng, are you saying I’m not welcome?”
On the cat tower, Xiao Qi bounced around excitedly, meowing non-stop. Her little tail stood straight up, her belly was adorably round, and her short legs could barely support her athletic enthusiasm. She nearly slipped off several times.
Feng Jiying frowned, clearly wanting to reach out and catch the kitten, but with Gu Qiqi watching, she restrained herself from doing anything that might damage her image.
Gu Qiqi’s lips curled into a small smile as she raised an eyebrow. This side of Feng Jiying was unexpectedly cute and completely different from her usual demeanor.
As her mood improved, her pheromones gradually began to release.
Feng Jiying coughed once.
Gu Qiqi looked at the walls lined with cat towers and noticed some unfinished wooden pieces still on the coffee table.
“You didn’t build these yourself, did you?”
Feng Jiying turned her face away. Maybe it was the influence of the pheromones, but her ears were slightly red.
“Don’t overthink it. I don’t have that kind of time.”
At the same time, she quietly hid her injured fingers behind her back, hoping Gu Qiqi wouldn’t notice.
Xiao Qi, upon sensing Gu Qiqi’s scent, sniffed the air in her direction.
Her damp little nose twitched as if she had recognized someone familiar. She let out an excited string of meows.
She tried to jump down toward Gu Qiqi, but going up was easier than coming down. Her tiny legs dangled in the air as she tried to climb down the tower but kept failing.
The scent of pheromones in the room grew stronger.
The two women stood across from each other, barely exchanging a few words. Still, the air between them felt strangely warm and a little awkward. Both of them were blushing faintly.
At that moment, Xiao Qi slipped and let out a startled meow.
Gu Qiqi lunged forward and caught her just in time, but tripped over the edge of the carpet and fell straight toward Feng Jiying.
Gu Qiqi managed to brace herself with one arm on the floor, but the force still knocked Feng Jiying down.
Their lips met in an unplanned and unexpectedly soft kiss.
Perhaps because of their previous accidental encounter, they managed to avoid bumping teeth or drawing blood this time.
To Feng Jiying, it had been over two weeks since she last saw Gu Qiqi. The familiar yet slightly foreign pheromones hovered close to her body, lingering.
They wouldn’t go away.
Her gland responded immediately. Even with a pheromone suppressant patch, it began to burn.
Gu Qiqi tried to get up quickly, but one hand was on the floor, the other holding Xiao Qi.
The chubby kitten wiggled between their bodies, pushing its fuzzy little body around.
Her small round head squeezed between them and finally popped out into view.
The little kitten had no idea what a kiss was. It blinked its big watery eyes at the two of them.
Then, showing off her sharp learning ability, she stuck out her tiny pink tongue and licked Gu Qiqi’s cheek, then licked Feng Jiying’s chin.
Feng Jiying’s hands slowly curled into fists again.
Her body began to soften without control.
Pheromones kept overflowing, and her heartbeat quickened without warning.
This was a change she, as an Omega, could no longer suppress.
She felt pain, shame, and frustration, but all she could do was endure it.
Pheromones often expressed emotion even more strongly than words.
Whether happy, sad, excited, or nervous, an Omega’s body couldn’t help but respond.
Those around them could sense everything hidden beneath the surface.
Gu Qiqi had a naturally low sensitivity to pheromones, so she couldn’t feel any of it.
But the intense coffee scent spread through the room, seeping into every corner and clinging to her body.
Feng Jiying’s clenched fists relaxed again.
It was a silent surrender.
She slowly closed her eyes.
Her metal-rimmed glasses shaded her long lashes and refined features, giving her a calm and distant appearance.
But nothing could hide the message carried by her pheromones.
Her glands were burning.
The heat spread from her neck upward.
She wanted…
