Reborn as a Scummy Alpha, I Became Every Heroine's Obsession - Chapter 40
Liu Huaiqing was in no rush.
“President Feng, I’ve made myself very clear. If you refuse to yield, then that’s just plain rude.”
A light breeze stirred the air, and the atmosphere between them shifted subtly.
Just then, Xiao Bai and Xiao Zhi came running over, out of breath as they exclaimed,
“President, Miss Gu is injured!”
Feng Jiying immediately asked, “What kind of injury is it? Is it serious?”
Liu Huaiqing followed with, “What happened exactly?”
They reacted at the same time, but their questions were entirely different.
330 Military Academy – Medical Wing
Gu Qiqi was lying on the hospital bed, her face slightly pale.
The nearby medical equipment beeped steadily.
The treatment room was so quiet that it felt unnerving.
The door was left ajar. A light breeze drifted in, lifting one side of the privacy curtain. A shadow slipped silently through the entrance and walked over to Gu Qiqi’s bedside.
Xiao Hua held her hands behind her back. In one hand, she clutched a syringe filled with a green, unknown liquid.
She slowly approached Gu Qiqi and leaned in closer. Carefully, she located Gu Qiqi’s gland. Once she aimed properly, she raised her hand and was about to inject the syringe.
Just then, Wen Rui entered the room carrying a book. The moment she looked up, she saw what Xiao Hua was doing.
Her expression immediately turned serious. She rushed forward and used her delicate folding fan to block the syringe.
“Yu Hua, what are you trying to do?”
“This is an order from Lord Gong, Doctor Wen. I hope you will cooperate.”
“If this were truly from my mentor, he would speak to me directly. What does it have to do with you?”
The fox-like eyes that usually curled in a smile were now cold and sharp. Wen Rui stood in front of Gu Qiqi, guarding her and blocking Xiao Hua’s path.
“Don’t think I don’t know what’s inside that syringe.”
Xiao Hua’s eyes showed her frustration, but she had no choice. Wen Rui stood firmly in her way, and she couldn’t get any closer. She reluctantly stepped back and hid the syringe behind her again.
“Doctor Wen, wasn’t the slap from Lord Gong painful enough? He wants you to stay clear-headed, to think of the Omegas across the galaxy. He hopes you won’t get too carried away with this role you’re playing.”
Wen Rui’s smile returned, but it was unreadable. She opened her folding fan and glanced at the small puncture where the needle had struck.
“I underestimated you. So you’re an Omega too. You seem to know quite a lot about me.”
Xiao Hua quietly lowered her head.
Wen Rui let out a cold laugh.
“So eager to take my place. Too bad. We’ll see if you have the ability.”
Xiao Hua replied, “Forgive me, Doctor Wen. I didn’t mean to offend you.”
Wen Rui’s voice was light but cold.
“Do you have any idea how angry I am that you damaged my little fan?”
The tension between the two women was thick.
On the hospital bed, Gu Qiqi slowly woke up.
Where am I?
330 Military Academy – Treatment Room
Standing in front of her was Wen Rui.
[System: Host, you’re finally awake. There was another plot event involving the main characters. The storyline has been forcefully corrected, and you were ambushed.]
Gu Qiqi finally understood what “plot correction” meant.
In the original game system, she was just a throwaway character meant to die shortly after appearing. The fact that she had survived this long meant that any deviation in the main storyline could affect her, pulling her closer to the path of death.
Sensing the shift in Gu Qiqi’s pheromones, Wen Rui immediately turned around. Her fox-like eyes sparkled.
“Qiqi, you’re finally awake. You really scared me.”
At that moment, Liu Huaiqing and Feng Jiying arrived at the doorway.
Xiao Hua saw more people entering the room. Realizing that it was no longer possible to act, she quietly slipped away.
Gu Qiqi looked at the three faces suddenly appearing beside her bed. A strange sense of unease crept over her.
“Why are you all staring at me like that? I’m fine, really.”
She struggled to sit up, but Wen Rui gently pushed her back down onto the bed.
“You’re injured. You need to lie still. Don’t move around or it could leave lasting damage.”
Feng Jiying stood at the head of the bed, frowning as she examined Gu Qiqi’s entire body from head to toe.
“Where are you hurt?”
Feng Jiying bent forward slightly. Before entering the academy, she had left her kitten, San Hua, in the car. She hadn’t buttoned her shirt collar completely.
From Gu Qiqi’s angle, she could clearly see Feng Jiying’s chest. There were several red rashes on her skin, and a few stray cat hairs clung to her otherwise pristine shirt.
Gu Qiqi instinctively reached out and gently touched one of the rashes with her fingertip.
“What happened to you here?”
Feng Jiying quickly straightened up and stepped back. She buttoned her collar and resumed her usual perfectly composed appearance. However, a single cat hair sticking out from her collar looked oddly out of place against her otherwise meticulous style.
“It’s nothing.”
Wen Rui tapped her folding fan against her palm and said with a teasing tone,
“It hasn’t been long, and Qiqi’s relationship with President Feng has already improved this much? She didn’t even check her own injuries before showing concern for someone else. I must say, I wasted my entire morning.”
Hearing Wen Rui’s sarcastic remark, Gu Qiqi withdrew her hand and wrapped herself tightly in the blanket.
Forget it. I really shouldn’t get involved with any of these three Omegas.
Liu Huaiqing gently traced a finger across Gu Qiqi’s cheek.
“Gu Qiqi and I are currently in a forced match period. Since she’s injured, I’ll take responsibility for her care. I trust President Feng and Doctor Wen have no objections?”
“I’m taking Gu Qiqi elsewhere. She needs to be seen by a better physician. The medical wing at the 330 Academy can only handle basic treatment for Alpha and Omega students. She requires a much more thorough examination.”
Liu Huaiqing’s cool jade-green bracelet brushed against Gu Qiqi’s collarbone.
Gu Qiqi felt dazed and confused.
What was happening now?
She remembered that when she returned to the 330 Military Academy, the school had issued a mission that she, as student council president, was responsible for assigning.
But because the mission involved going to the border region and she had her own reasons, she chose to undertake it with Gu Qingyun.
She had originally just wanted to see her sister and ask why she refused to come to Central City.
But the moment they arrived at the border region, she lost consciousness.
Gu Qiqi stared blankly at the digital clock in front of her.
Half a month.
It had been half a month since she left.
The game system had actually skipped forward by two weeks. What had happened during that time?
Wen Rui wore a sly fox-like grin.
“Lawyer Liu, aren’t you being a little too impatient? On the second day after you and Gu Qiqi entered the match period, she went on a mission. Without her signed consent, the federal civil office can’t issue an official forced match document. Technically, the two of you aren’t in a confirmed match yet. Based on that, Gu Qiqi should still be in a binding period with President Feng. If anyone’s taking her away, it should be President Feng. That would be more in line with the regulations.”
[System: Wow, Host, I didn’t expect Wen Rui to be so cunning. She’s deliberately stirring up conflict between Feng Jiying and Liu Huaiqing so she can benefit from it.]
Gu Qiqi now just wanted to bury her head under the covers.
“I really think I’m fine. You’re probably just overreacting,” she mumbled.
Wen Rui immediately covered Gu Qiqi’s mouth with her hand.
“Some things aren’t for you to decide or resolve.”
As she said this, she glanced over at Feng Jiying.
“Don’t you agree, President Feng?”
Feng Jiying’s expression remained neutral, showing little emotional change.
She didn’t seem interested in joining this absurd competition.
But when she spoke, her words were firm and left no room for argument.
“I received intelligence from the Feng family. The mission Gu Qiqi was assigned to is connected to our family. Both officially and personally, we bear responsibility for this. I won’t avoid it. I will use the best medical resources in the interstellar society to restore her condition to what it was two weeks ago, and only then will I return her to the 330 Military Academy.”
Liu Huaiqing simply smiled and said nothing.
However, the way she unconsciously twisted the green bracelet on her wrist gave her away. She was clearly irritated.
Gu Qiqi silently stuck her hand out from under the blanket and raised it.
“I think…”
But before she could finish, Liu Huaiqing grabbed her hand.
“She raised her right hand. That means she wants to go with me.”
Feng Jiying stood on Gu Qiqi’s left, Liu Huaiqing on her right, and Wen Rui was at the foot of the bed.
The three of them formed a strange and tense triangle.
Feng Jiying calmly reached under the blanket and held Gu Qiqi’s right hand as well. Her voice was low and cool.
“Lawyer Liu, aren’t you afraid people will laugh if they hear about this childish display?”
Liu Huaiqing chuckled without backing down.
“And what about you, President Feng? Are you saying you’re completely selfless in all of this?”
Wen Rui raised an eyebrow, her fox-like eyes curving as a glint of satisfaction flashed through them.
“If this is going to keep going, why not just let Qiqi stay in the medical wing of the 330 Academy? Both of you can come visit her whenever you like. After all, she was injured during a school mission. I still need to submit a written report detailing her condition. That would be easier for all of us, wouldn’t it?”
Liu Huaiqing responded immediately.
“Absolutely not.”
Feng Jiying followed.
“I don’t agree.”
The moment she finished, both of them had firmly rejected Wen Rui’s suggestion. Wen Rui simply shrugged and gave a helpless smile.
“Alright, continue your discussion then.”
Gu Qiqi, whose hands were both being pulled in opposite directions, winced.
“Has it occurred to either of you that you might be tugging on my injury?”
[System: Host, three Omegas are fighting over you. Shouldn’t you be thrilled? This is the dream scenario for countless Alphas across the Federation. Don’t you feel lucky?]
Gu Qiqi answered in her head with a dry chuckle.
Lucky or not, you need to live long enough to enjoy it.
Feng Jiying suddenly said,
“Xiao Qi misses you. You need to take responsibility for your child.”
Her words were vague and carried an air of ambiguity that instantly sparked misunderstanding.
Wen Rui’s eyes widened.
“Child?” She immediately looked toward Feng Jiying’s stomach.
“How many months?”
Gu Qiqi stammered,
“I…”
Feng Jiying’s lips curled into a cold smile. Her gaze at Gu Qiqi was full of mockery and implied accusation as she delivered her final blow.
“One and a half months. Miss Gu, you were willing to create, but unwilling to take responsibility?”
In the treatment room, a nearby doctor let out a sharp gasp.
