- Chapter 7 - Yandere No. 1
“I’m not here to audit; I’m here to see my girlfriend,” Fang Yu said with a radiant, doting smile, still refusing to let go of Li Ruoruo’s hand. “In fact, I might become a permanent fixture in your class from now on.”
She met the teacher’s teasing gaze with absolute composure.
The classroom immediately erupted into hushed jeers and whistles. The air grew thick with a sudden, playful tension as students darted their eyes back and forth between Fang Yu and the teacher.
The teacher paused, momentarily stunned. I don’t believe a word of it! Not only had Fang Yu made off with her favorite student, but now she was back to flirt with the teacher, too?
She had always been disgruntled that someone as bright as Li Ruoruo had fallen for a delinquent like Fang Yu. Now that Fang Yu had practically delivered herself into her hands, the teacher decided it was time to take her down a peg.
Pushing her square-framed glasses up the bridge of her nose, a sharp glint flashed in the teacher’s eyes. “Well then, in that case, I’ll have to collect some ‘tuition’ from you.”
“Huh?” Fang Yu looked confused for a second before a realization dawned on her. She replied with the casual air of a wealthy heiress, “I recall Chinese teachers love to read. How about this: tell me what books you like, and I’ll have my father track them down and donate them to the library?”
The teacher’s retort died in her throat. Honestly? She was actually a little tempted.
After a brief internal struggle, she painfully rejected the bribe and rapped the blackboard with her pointer. “Student Fang Yu, would you be interested in solving this problem?”
So, this is the trap, Fang Yu thought.
She let go of Ruoruo’s hand and stood up smoothly. “Certainly.” Her voice was brimming with a confidence so arrogant it was almost punchable.
The teacher had already wiped away the previous students’ failed attempts. Since Fang Yu hadn’t been listening to the lecture at all, she was effectively working without any hints. The teacher folded her arms and watched from the side of the podium, certain that even if Fang Yu was ranked first in her grade, she couldn’t solve a problem this niche.
Fang Yu gripped a piece of chalk, standing before the board with an air of deep contemplation.
In truth, she was laughing internally the moment she saw the problem. To her, this was just an appetizer. It was a bit of a trick question—the honors students were stuck in a fixed mindset and lacked the specific advanced concepts required to crack it, but for her, it was simple.
She timed it out, waiting about five minutes before she finally began to write.
With fluid, unhindered motions, she filled half the blackboard with the solution. Then, she turned around and casually flicked the chalk back into its box.
“Done. Feel free to check my work.”
The honors class fell into an eerie silence. Speechless, they stared. The problem they had been racking their brains over had been dismantled so effortlessly by Fang Yu? We’d rather be cornered in an alley and forced to do something unspeakable than be outsmarted like this!
Finally, someone broke the silence: “Teacher, is she right?”
The teacher didn’t even bother adjusting her glasses. She scanned every single digit on the board from top to bottom. Finally, she slumped slightly against the podium. “It, it’s correct.”
Having “paid her tuition,” Fang Yu walked back to Li Ruoruo with a spring in her step, only to find the girl staring at her as if she’d seen a ghost.
“Since when were you this good at studying?” Li Ruoruo demanded.
Taking advantage of her stunned state, Fang Yu reached out and quickly tapped the tip of Li Ruoruo’s nose. A wave of satisfaction washed over her. For some reason, she felt an instinctive pull toward Ruoruo; she simply wanted to be close to her.
Li Ruoruo frowned, looking uncomfortable as she subtly put some distance between them. “You haven’t answered me.”
Noticing the movement, Fang Yu slid her chair closer, leaning shamelessly against Ruoruo’s arm. “My girlfriend is such a top student; I can’t exactly fall behind, can I? I stay up every night at home doing practice problems and memorizing texts just to give you a surprise.”
Bullshit.
Li Ruoruo knew she was talking nonsense. She pushed her away without hesitation. “Get off me!”
018, the target is so cold, Fang Yu complained to her System.
The System, having never been in love, quickly scanned its database for “The 18 Methods of Romance.”
[Host, you must use your burning heart, your sincere emotions, and a ‘sink the ships’ determination to influence her! Tame her!]
Fang Yu: “…” I think I’ll stick to my own way.
“Next, we’ll discuss the following problem type.”
The teacher recovered her professional rhythm quickly, once again feeding knowledge to the class. The pace was fast; key points were written on the board, wiped away, and replaced in rapid succession.
“Give me the pen. I’ll help you take notes.” Seeing the way Li Ruoruo was thirstily absorbing the information, Fang Yu felt like she was looking at her past self.
She reached for the notebook on the desk, but as she pulled it toward her, a small hand clamped down on it. Fang Yu glanced at her; Ruoruo’s eyes were still glued to the blackboard, but she was fighting her underneath.
“What now?”
“I don’t need your help,” Li Ruoruo stammered, her eyes darting between the board and the notebook, looking nervous.
She clearly wants to study.
Fang Yu said suspiciously, “Your hand can’t write, so I’m helping. What, do you have secrets in this notebook?”
“I do not!” Li Ruoruo replied emphatically, though her face betrayed a growing panic. She slowly let go.
Now in possession of the notebook, Fang Yu began taking notes. She had a unique method: she only distilled the most essential points and interspersed them with her own insights.
Li Ruoruo had originally intended to see what tricks she was up to, but she found herself involuntarily drawn in. Fang Yu’s pen flew across the page; watching her work made Li Ruoruo’s heart race. Her eyes grew brighter as if some mental barrier was being dismantled.
The lecture paused as the teacher assigned a formula for the class to memorize. Fang Yu finished the notes, but when Li Ruoruo reached for the book, Fang Yu pulled it back. She began flipping through the pages, convinced there was a hidden “secret” somewhere.
“Hey, give it back!”
Li Ruoruo’s soft plea fell on deaf ears. Finally, on the table of contents page, Fang Yu found a tiny line of text:
Li Ruoruo ❤️ Fang Yu.
There was even an arrow drawn through the center of the heart.
“Oho, so this is the secret you were hiding. There’s no need to hide this,” Fang Yu teased, her lips curling into an unstoppable smirk.
Li Ruoruo buried her face in her arms on the desk, completely unable to look at her.
Fang Yu fished a pink highlighter out of Ruoruo’s pencil case and used both hands to force the girl’s head up. “If you hide your face again, I’ll kiss you in front of everyone!”
She reprised the threat she had used in the hospital. It worked like a charm; no matter how embarrassed she was, Li Ruoruo didn’t dare look down again.
Fang Yu pushed the notebook back to her. She wrote both their names and drew a massive heart encircling them. Then, she added a line at the bottom: Fang Yu likes Li Ruoruo.
“Quick, your turn,” Fang Yu said, forcing the pen into Li Ruoruo’s hand. “Use your left hand. It doesn’t matter how messy it is!”
“Write what?”
“Write that you like me, too.”
“I won’t.” Li Ruoruo’s head shook like a rattle.
“Fine then.” Fang Yu wasn’t surprised by the answer. The people around them were busy memorizing, so no one was paying them any mind.
Fang Yu unzipped her school jacket and pulled it up, draping it over both her and Li Ruoruo’s heads to create a makeshift tent. Slowly, she leaned down.
Suddenly plunged into darkness, Li Ruoruo panicked, sensing Fang Yu’s breath close against her. In an instant, her body went stiff; her blood seemed to freeze in her veins.
Fang Yu had never kissed her so gently before. Finally tasting that sweetness, Fang Yu let out a satisfied sigh. So sweet.
A second later, Li Ruoruo yanked the jacket down with violent force. The zipper caught on Fang Yu’s neck, leaving two thin red scratches. Fang Yu touched the marks; there was a faint trace of blood.
A soft chuckle escaped her throat. They looked just like the scratches of a little wildcat.
“You, how could you just kiss me?” Li Ruoruo covered her mouth, terrified of another “invasion.”
“Weren’t you the one who didn’t want to write?” Fang Yu replied with mock righteousness.
“Who said I didn’t want to write? I’ll write it right now!”
Fuming, Li Ruoruo pulled the notebook over and began to write: Li Ruoruo likes.
“Yes, exactly like that,” Fang Yu nodded, like a teacher praising a bright student.
The bell rang at that exact moment, just as Li Ruoruo was about to finish. Li Ruoruo was immensely grateful for the interruption. She tossed the pen aside and unceremoniously shoved Fang Yu away. “Class is over! Get back to your own room!”
