- Chapter 12 - Yandere No. 1
Fang Yu violently shook off the mysterious girl’s grip. “Who even are you?”
Liang Si tumbled to the ground, her face etched with disbelief. “I’ve been in your class for a whole year, and you, you don’t even recognize me?”
In my class?
018, does the original owner have this person in her memory? Fang Yu asked mentally.
The System searched its database rapidly. [Host, there is no record of this person.]
Since she didn’t recognize her, Fang Yu assumed the woman was a scammer looking for a payout—she’d probably overheard Ruoruo calling her name. However, Fang Yu’s outfit today was quite plain. Dammit, she thought, how did this woman figure out I’m rich?
Fang Yu’s gaze turned icy. As she walked past the girl, she “accidentally” let two hundred-yuan bills flutter out of her pocket. She mouthed two words: Get lost.
Then, she immediately lunged at Li Ruoruo like a koala. “Ruoruo, I really don’t know her! You have to believe me!”
Li Ruoruo recoiled slightly from the impact, her expression remaining frosty. “I’m not particularly inclined to believe you.”
“You can’t just write me off like that! I have no idea where that woman came from!” Faced with genuine suspicion, Fang Yu felt like she was shedding tears of frustration.
Liang Si bit her lip as she watched their retreating figures. Her face was a mask of pure malice as she picked herself up and slunk away.
Li Ruoruo was nearly moved by Fang Yu’s display of “sincerity,” but she held onto her last line of defense. “Come with me on the Big Pendulum?”
Fang Yu immediately saw through the tactic. To ensure the success of her mission, she had done her homework. The original owner of this body was terrified of heights, she wouldn’t even step foot on a glass-bottomed observation deck. Li Ruoruo’s suggestion was a blatant test: would Fang Yu swallow her pride and challenge her limits for her?
She’s got quite a few tricks up her sleeve, Fang Yu thought.
She expertly made her shoulders tremble, offering a pale but stubborn smile that radiated a “forsake everything for love” determination. “If you like it, of course I’ll go with you.”
Once seated on the pendulum and strapped in, Fang Yu grabbed Li Ruoruo’s hand before the ride even started. As the machine began to swing, Fang Yu looked more unsettled than the toddlers sitting nearby, letting out a series of theatrical “Aaaah! Eeeek! Hiss!” screams.
When they finally got off, Li Ruoruo had to rub her ears to stop the ringing; Fang Yu’s shrieks were still echoing in her head. She felt as though she had caught a contact case of acrophobia.
“Ruoruo, I was so scared but for you, I’d do it again!” Fang Yu declared, clutching Ruoruo’s hand dramatically.
Li Ruoruo felt fine aside from the earache, and she wasn’t about to let Fang Yu off the hook just yet. She followed up on her lead: “Then let’s try the Drop Tower.”
Fang Yu agreed, looking absolutely terrified.
“I heard this one is seventy meters high. Doesn’t look like it to me, though; they’re probably exaggerating,” Li Ruoruo said with a smile, a glint of excitement in her eyes. “Since you agreed, you can’t back out halfway through.”
The moment she said that, Li Ruoruo’s aura shifted. The refined, pure “good girl” persona vanished instantly. This face reminded Fang Yu of the day she first arrived—the look of ecstatic satisfaction on Ruoruo’s face as she cut her own wrist was identical to the one she wore now.
“Maybe you should just ride it yourself?” Fang Yu suggested tentatively.
“You. Accompany. Me.” Li Ruoruo’s face darkened instantly as she locked her arm around Fang Yu’s.
She is not to be trifled with.
“AAAAHHH! AAAAAAAHHH!! AHHH!”
“IT’S SO SCARY—YAAAAAAH! OW, OW, OW!”
As the tower plunged and ascended, Fang Yu put her soul into her performance. To keep her persona intact, her screams were agonizingly realistic, even achieving a hollow echo effect.
When they finally stepped off, Fang Yu’s legs turned to jelly. She nearly collapsed to the ground, her palms drenched in sweat and her entire body trembling uncontrollably. She realized this was the original owner’s physiological response her heart was beating so hard it felt like it would jump out of her throat.
Li Ruoruo looked like she wanted another round, but Fang Yu looked like she was at death’s door. She slumped into Ruoruo’s arms, her voice faint. “Let’s call it a day. I’ll call the driver. Come back to my place for a foot soak.”
“Fine. I’ll carry you to the gate to wait.”
Fang Yu swapped her “chest-slump” position for a “back-slump,” finding both equally comfortable in their own ways. She reached out with one hand to call Xiao Chen while Han Zhishuang helped steady her from behind.
“Shuangshuang, I’m sorry. I didn’t really get to hang out with you today,” Li Ruoruo said guiltily.
“It’s okay. Just focus on your relationship with Sister Yu.”
Li Ruoruo replied, “Okay.”
Fang Yu almost burst into tears of joy. This was the first time Li Ruoruo had acknowledged their relationship in front of someone else since she’d arrived. The mission success was finally within sight!
She fumbled five hundred-yuan bills out of her wallet. “Han Zhishuang, it might be hard to catch a bus later. Take this and get a taxi home.”
“Sister Yu, can we be friends?” Han Zhishuang accepted the money, selling her soul instantly.
“Any friend of Ruoruo’s is a friend of mine.”
Han Zhishuang was practically swooning. For a line like that, she was ready to fly the “Yu-Ruo” flagship until the day she died. Ignoring their offers to stay, she went off alone to find a cab.
The exit was crowded, and there were no seats available, so Li Ruoruo found a relatively open spot for them to rest.
Not far away, a girl in a white baseball cap was staring at them. She held a lit red candle in her hand, her expression frantic and crazed.
“Why couldn’t it be me?”
“Why, why wasn’t it me?”
Passersby heard her incoherent mumbling and, feeling their skin crawl, immediately moved away to a safe distance.
When the girl saw Fang Yu re-braiding a loose strand of Li Ruoruo’s hair, she finally snapped. She lunged forward with the candle. “Go to hell, you bitch!”
Fwoosh! The flame caught Li Ruoruo’s hair, and fire surged upward instantly.
Fang Yu reacted in a flash, jumping off Ruoruo’s back. She snatched the scorching, wax-dripping candle and threw it aside, then used the newly-won couple’s outfit to beat out the flames.
Fortunately, the fire hadn’t spread far yet, and Fang Yu’s reflexes were fast. However, a large portion of Li Ruoruo’s hair was charred. For it to reach its original length again, it would take at least two years.
Watching this, Liang Si began to laugh maniacally. Your hair is gone. Let’s see how she braids it now.
In the crowd, several onlookers had already filmed the entire incident and were busy uploading it to the internet.
Fang Yu was livid. She delivered a brutal kick that sent the crazed Liang Si sprawling. “Do you want to die?”
“Kick me all you want! Her hair is ruined, and I did it! Heeheehee!”
