- Chapter 13 - Yandere No. 1
The news of “A female student publicly assaulting someone on the street, burning the victim’s hair” fermented rapidly online. Although the school moved quickly to suppress the story, word had already leaked out.
“I want a reasonable explanation.” Fang Yu sat in the principal’s office, her legs crossed, radiating a visible aura of indignation.
“Fang Yu, look we’ve notified Liang Si’s parents and held a meeting,” the Dean explained, wiping sweat from his brow, terrified that she wouldn’t be satisfied. “The parents said she has a severe psychological condition and has been in treatment for years. She usually behaves normally and they hid it from the school, thinking nothing would happen. We only just found out ourselves.”
Fang Yu’s leverage was lethal. Upon entering the office, she hadn’t said a word; she simply demanded the principal give her the hardest exam paper available. After she finished, the perfect score left the administration in shock.
“My current level is enough to take the title of Top Scholar in this province,” she said coldly. “Do you want a result that boosts the school’s prestige, or do you want to protect a student who maliciously harms others? You choose.”
The principal knew she had the strength to back up her words. After a brief discussion with the Dean, a smile flickered across his aging face. “Now, now, let’s not let the atmosphere get so tense. The school handles matters objectively.
Rest assured, we will give you a satisfying answer.”
A few days later, Fang Yu received word: the school had decided to expel Liang Si. She accepted the punishment. Liang Si was a ticking time bomb; letting Li Ruoruo stay in the same school as her was a risk Fang Yu wasn’t willing to take.
“The girl admitted it was intentional,” the Dean added at the end. “She said watching the interaction between you and Li Ruoruo at the amusement park was too painful, which led to her extreme behavior. Student Fang Yu, perhaps try not to leave a trail of broken hearts everywhere you go in the future.”
Fang Yu’s face went dark. Broken hearts? Liang Si had been a complete stranger to her. If someone is sick, they should stay in the hospital instead of coming out to terrorize people.
It was the end-of-the-month holiday. Carrying her backpack, Fang Yu rang the doorbell at Li Ruoruo’s house. Soon, a woman in casual clothes opened the door.
Fang Yu bowed politely. “Hello, Auntie! I’m here to see Ruoruo.”
“You’re Ruoruo’s friend, right?” Mother Li thought she looked familiar. She remembered her daughter bringing a girl home once, but that girl had worn heavy makeup and hadn’t seemed very “well-behaved”—she hadn’t looked like a match for her daughter at all. Today, with the makeup gone, the girl looked so fresh and sweet that Mother Li almost didn’t recognize her.
“Ruoruo! Your friend is here!” Mother Li smiled and handed Fang Yu a pair of slippers. “Go on into her room. I think she’s already awake.”
Ruoruo’s room.
Fang Yu licked her lips, a hint of excitement stirring in her heart, though her face remained calm as she walked down the hallway. She raised her hand to knock.
“Who is it?” Li Ruoruo’s voice was thick with sleep. She had clearly drifted back off for a nap. When she opened the door and saw Fang Yu, her sleepiness vanished instantly. “Yu-yu?”
Fang Yu adjusted her backpack innocently. “I’m here for a tutoring session.”
“The top student in the school is coming to me for tutoring?” Ruoruo asked suspiciously.
“I just want to hear my girlfriend explain the problems.” Fang Yu unzipped her bag, revealing several stacks of workbooks to prove her sincerity.
“Fine. Sit down for a bit; let me wash my face.”
“Go ahead, go ahead.” Fang Yu sat on Ruoruo’s bed, taking in the decorations. She felt like she had stumbled into a treasure trove, glancing at every little detail.
Less than a minute later, Ruoruo returned. She closed the door behind her, and the lock clicked into place. Fang Yu’s eyes darkened with hidden intent.
Li Ruoruo sat at her vanity with her back to Fang Yu, combing her hair. When the comb reached her ears, it ran out of hair to brush. She was so used to pulling the comb down to her waist that the lack of resistance made her realize again that she had lost the long hair she had grown for Fang Yu.
Touching the ends of her hair, she felt a sense of loss. “Do I look very ugly like this?”
Fang Yu walked over, lifted Ruoruo, and sat her on her own lap. She gazed deeply into Ruoruo’s eyes, her voice enchanting. “I love you no matter how you look. Besides, you’re even cuter now than before.”
“And your hair won’t get in the way when I kiss you,” Fang Yu whispered. With her neck completely exposed, everything was so much more convenient.
Fang Yu showered her messy short hair with praise, sounding so sincere that Ruoruo was deeply moved. Striking while the iron was hot, Fang Yu took the comb. “Let me do it.”
Fang Yu was incredibly gentle. She handled the tangles with patience, ensuring Ruoruo didn’t feel a single tug of pain. Not only was her hair smoothed out, but her heart felt comforted as well.
“Let’s look at the problems. Which one don’t you get?” Ruoruo stood up, spreading the workbooks across the desk with a very serious attitude.
Fang Yu moved over, pretending to study them, and pointed randomly. “This one.”
Ruoruo leaned in. It was a typical physics problem. She picked up a pen and began sketching on the scratch paper. “First, we input an AC signal that is 50% positive and 50% negative. Looking at this circuit, the transformer output is synchronized with the input.”
Ruoruo was immersed in the lesson, not noticing Fang Yu leaning closer and closer.
“I see,” Fang Yu murmured, her eyes fixed on the delicate, porcelain-white skin of Ruoruo’s neck.
“Mhm. Is there anything else you don’t—” Ruoruo turned back happily, her lips accidentally brushing against Fang Yu’s soft cheek. She realized then just how close Fang Yu had gotten.
That accidental touch was like a spark in a dry forest.
“Ruoruo explains things so well. I understand everything now,” Fang Yu smiled, encroaching on Ruoruo’s personal space.
Li Ruoruo saw a dangerous “predatory” glint in Fang Yu’s eyes. I need to run! She tried to back away, but her legs hit the chair, and every exit was blocked. She was trapped.
Fang Yu finally got her wish, kissing that slender neck and leaving a deep crimson mark. “Ruoruo, you’re as sweet as ever.”
A jolt of electricity surged through Ruoruo’s body, her strength draining away. “I, I’m not sweet.”
“Heh,” Fang Yu let out a low chuckle. “Ruoruo, you lack self-awareness.”
Her hand began to wander upward under the hem of the nightgown. Ruoruo gasped, “Fang Yu, what are you doing?”
“Call me Yu-yu, and I’ll let you go.”
“Yu, Yu-yu! Your hand move it!” Ruoruo obeyed, but Fang Yu only became more emboldened, pressing her against the desk. The movement knocked the workbooks to the floor, scattering them across the room.
“This sweetness is for me alone,” Fang Yu whispered before kissing her deeply.
“What are these two doing? Not a sound,” Mother Li muttered outside. She had cut some fruit for them, but after knocking for a while with no answer, her patience wore thin. She simply pushed the door open.
The scene inside was a shock. The fruit platter slipped from her hands; a piece of apple rolled across the floor to her feet.
Fang Yu had Ruoruo’s dress half-lifted. Sensing Ruoruo go rigid, she stopped.
“Ruoruo?”
“Ma, Mom!” Ruoruo was on the verge of tears. How could her mother have seen this?
Mother Li quickly masked her shock, picked up the fruit, and pulled the door shut as she left. It all made sense now, why Ruoruo had been dropping hints for the past two years, asking if she’d be angry if she liked a girl. Her daughter had been preparing her for this moment all along.
With the interruption, the mood was gone. Ruoruo straightened her clothes, glaring at the still-unsatisfied Fang Yu. “You weren’t even listening for footsteps! My mom saw us!” She was just thankful her father wasn’t home.
Fang Yu replied solemnly, “You’re so beautiful, how could I focus on anything else?”
Ruoruo’s ears turned pink. “You always have an answer, don’t you?”
After a lunch hosted with surprising warmth by Mother Li, Fang Yu packed up her “prop” workbooks and said her goodbyes. Ruoruo followed her out. “I’ll walk you out.”
As they crossed the street, Fang Yu teased, “What, are you going to give me a parting kiss?”
Li Ruoruo looked at her steadily for a few seconds before suddenly giving her a massive hug. “Yu-yu, I love you. Let’s stay together forever, okay?”
“I know,” Fang Yu began, but a long-awaited voice suddenly echoed in her mind.
[Congratulations, Host, on completing the mission. A new world has been constructed. Would you like to enter now or take a rest?]
The Li Ruoruo standing before her shattered like an illusion as the System spoke, vanishing without a trace. Fang Yu tried to ignore the sudden heaviness in her chest.
“Rest.”
In her mental space, three bubbles appeared. Fang Yu poked a soft blue one and was instantly sucked into a space filled with seaweed and fish, surrounded by seawater.
[Host has entered Ocean Rest Mode. All creatures here are real. You can breathe freely and the fish are domesticated and friendly.]
Fang Yu touched a passing hairtail fish. It felt ticklish as the fish flipped over and darted through her fingers.
“What are the other two modes?” she asked curiously.
[Dark blue is Starry Sky, and bright green is Forest. Host can also create custom scenes based on items from worlds you have already cleared.]
“Then I want to create a new one right now!”
The System cut her off heartlessly. [Once a rest mode is selected, it cannot be changed. You must complete a mission in a new world before you can choose again.]
