Chapter 2: Then Let’s Try Dating
But in less than four months, Qi Nanxun broke up.
Fang Jiahe asked him why they split.
Qi Nanxun told him that from the beginning, the girl had confessed saying she just wanted to give it a try with him. However, during the course of the relationship, he realized they weren’t a good fit, so he brought up the breakup.
Ever since knowing Qi Nanxun was single again, Fang Jiahe thought a lot over those few days. Now that they were in university, they no longer needed to wear those stiff school uniforms. Since they could dress as they pleased, Qi Nanxun’s popularity had grown even higher. Furthermore, there were many, many beautiful girls in university, and quite a few of them liked Qi Nanxun.
Fang Jiahe could not accept Qi Nanxun continuing to date others in the future. Back when Qi Nanxun didn’t date, Fang Jiahe could still silently bury his feelings in his heart. Now, it wasn’t that he couldn’t hide them, but rather that facing the sight of Qi Nanxun with someone else was a feeling too painful to bear.
So, at that time, he didn’t want to hesitate anymore; he decided to confess to Qi Nanxun.
He had considered it: if Qi Nanxun could not accept his homosexual self, they might not even be able to remain friends. If that happened, perhaps he could finally give up on Qi Nanxun completely and never be tortured by the pain of a secret crush again.
But he never imagined that Qi Nanxun would actually accept his confession.
That day, emboldened by alcohol, he wept bitterly in front of Qi Nanxun, pouring out the feelings he had buried deep in his soul for the past five years.
Then, he heard Qi Nanxun smile gently and say, “Then let’s try dating, Jiahe.”
Fang Jiahe remembered standing frozen in place for a long time. He couldn’t process it. At that moment, his mood felt like riding a roller coaster—after the huge ups and downs, he had finally reached the end only to find out he’d won a prize and got to go again.
Except the first time was tension and fear, while the second time was excitement and joy.
Fang Jiahe’s heart was filled with surprise, delight, and disbelief. So many emotions intertwined that he almost didn’t dare believe it was reality.
However, mixed in with all that was a hint of bitterness.
Even though he had been drinking, he wasn’t drunk. He could still see the heart above Qi Nanxun’s head; it was still just one tiny pink heart.
Despite this, he clung to a faint hope and pulled out a small mirror to glance at his own head. As expected, it was empty.
He remembered Qi Nanxun teasing him at the time: “What’s wrong? Now you know to pay attention to your image?”
That day, Fang Jiahe had cried so hard his nose was running and his face was a mess; he truly had no ‘image’ left. Qi Nanxun thought he was worried about his appearance, not knowing that Fang Jiahe actually wanted to see a small red heart appear on his own head.
No wonder what Qi Nanxun said to him was “let’s try dating.”
Perhaps his current thoughts were the same as the way he had treated his ex-girlfriend.
But even so, Fang Jiahe was willing to sink into this relationship that might never have a result.
Originally, Fang Jiahe had been prepared for the possibility that they wouldn’t date for long. But to his surprise, they had stayed together until now, even becoming a “model couple” in the eyes of their friends.
Even though it was two boys dating, Qi Nanxun was truly gentle. His care for Fang Jiahe was meticulous. He would prepare gifts for him on Valentine’s Day, arrange surprises for his birthday, and accompany him to do many things Fang Jiahe was interested in but Qi Nanxun actually wasn’t. He respected Fang Jiahe’s wishes and would even agree to his occasional unreasonable demands.
If Fang Jiahe didn’t have this special ability, he definitely wouldn’t feel that Qi Nanxun didn’t like him. He might even think that Qi Nanxun liked him a lot.
The sad reality was that he knew. Every time he touched Qi Nanxun, he was indirectly reminded of the fact that Qi Nanxun still hadn’t fallen for him.
This caused Fang Jiahe to frequently wander between happiness and pain.
Sometimes Fang Jiahe couldn’t figure it out—Qi Nanxun was clearly so good to him, so why didn’t he like him?
