Chapter 3: Longing for Him to Develop Feelings Over Time
After class, Fang Jiahe packed his things and prepared to leave the classroom, but he was stopped by Xiang Chenyi just as he was about to go.
“You brat, why are you leaving without waiting for me? Didn’t you ask me to send you back today?”
Fang Jiahe: “Uh, Nanxun said he’s going back today too. I’m going the same way as him, so it works out and I won’t have to trouble you.”
Xiang Chenyi said dissatisfactorily: “Fck, didn’t you angrily tell me yesterday that Qi Nanxun stood you up and you didn’t want to deal with him anymore? Why are you going home with him again today?”
Fang Jiahe replied while walking out of the classroom: “He apologized to me.”
Xiang Chenyi couldn’t stand it: “Aren’t you a little too easy to coax?”
As Fang Jiahe headed downstairs, he saw Qi Nanxun already waiting outside the teaching building. He smiled and said to Xiang Chenyi: “I can’t help it. Who told him to be so handsome? I lose my anger just by looking at his face.”
A few of Fang Jiahe’s close friends knew that Qi Nanxun was his boyfriend.
The boy standing under the shade of the trees had the perfect proportions of a model. His height of 187cm paired with his extraordinary handsome face made him an eye-catching presence no matter where he stood.
Fang Jiahe deliberately pulled a long face as he walked up to Qi Nanxun.
Because they were preparing their graduation theses, they had both been quite busy lately. Since they weren’t in the same major, they hadn’t seen each other for a while.
Yesterday, they finally had some time, so Fang Jiahe made plans with Qi Nanxun to have dinner and maybe catch a movie. In the end, Qi Nanxun stood him up, leaving him waiting at the restaurant for two hours for nothing. It wasn’t until later that Qi Nanxun called to say he had been dragged away by a professor to help and couldn’t make it, adding that his phone had died earlier so he couldn’t contact him.
Although he explained and apologized sincerely, Fang Jiahe still felt miserable at that moment. Because he had waited for two full hours, yet Qi Nanxun hadn’t even thought to find a way to charge his phone and contact him in the middle of it.
But he could only keep his smoldering anger to himself. He couldn’t blame Qi Nanxun, because he knew Qi Nanxun didn’t like him.
When people don’t care about something, it’s normal for them not to put their heart into it, isn’t it?
Qi Nanxun smiled and handed him an exquisitely wrapped gift box: “An apology gift.”
Fang Jiahe took it and asked: “What is it?”
Qi Nanxun: “The watch you’ve always wanted.”
Fang Jiahe said in surprise: “How did you know I wanted this?”
Qi Nanxun laughed: “You’ve posted several updates about this watch, and you always stare at it whenever we pass the counter. If I still didn’t know, I wouldn’t count as a competent boyfriend.”
Fang Jiahe opened the gift box, took out the watch, and put it on: “Seeing as you’re somewhat sincere, I’ll reluctantly forgive you.”
Qi Nanxun reached out to help Fang Jiahe straighten his messy bangs, saying tenderly: “It’s good as long as you aren’t angry anymore.”
The moment his hand touched Fang Jiahe’s forehead, Fang Jiahe’s smile stiffened.
The small pink crystal heart appeared over Qi Nanxun’s head—it was the proof of Fang Jiahe’s love for him, and the proof that his love was still unilateral.
He lowered his eyes to conceal the flash of disappointment that flickered within them. When he looked up again, his expression had returned to normal as he said with a smile: “Then let’s go.”
When he was with Qi Nanxun, he truly felt happy. But whenever they were apart, he would fall into a state of restless pain. The longer they stayed together, the stronger his insecurity became.
He longed for Qi Nanxun to develop feelings for him over time, but he also feared that Qi Nanxun would eventually fall for someone else.
Even so, he couldn’t give up. In fact, the longer he spent with Qi Nanxun, the deeper his feelings became. The longer they dated, the more he found himself unable to leave Qi Nanxun.
Sometimes he would question if his ability might not be accurate. After all, if Qi Nanxun had no feelings for him at all, why would he date him for so long and treat him so well?
Qi Nanxun would kiss him, and although they didn’t do it often, they had a sexual relationship. So, if Qi Nanxun wasn’t homosexual but could accept him as a guy, didn’t that mean Qi Nanxun liked him too?
Only by thinking of these things could Fang Jiahe’s insecure heart find a sliver of comfort.
