Chapter 1: His Boyfriend Never Liked Him
Fang Jiahe has a boyfriend he has been dating for over three years, and he loves him deeply.
But he knows that his boyfriend has never liked him.
Fang Jiahe possesses a special ability that no one else knows about: he can see the “liking” of others, and he can even distinguish between unrequited love and mutual love.
As long as he has physical contact with someone, if the object of that person’s secret crush is within five meters of them, Fang Jiahe will see a tiny, crystal-clear pink heart appear above the crush’s head—while the person he is touching has nothing.
Conversely, if someone has a secret crush on the person he is touching, a small pink crystal heart will appear over the head of the person he is touching, while the person harboring the crush has nothing. Of course, if many people within five meters like the person he is touching, then many small pink crystal hearts will appear over that person’s head.
If the feelings are mutual, however, two overlapping small red crystal double-hearts will appear above both of their heads simultaneously. In the event that Fang Jiahe is touching one of them and the two people are within five meters of each other, he can see the red crystal double-hearts on both their heads. This is the proof of mutual love.
He confessed to Qi Nanxun during their freshman year of university, which also happened to be the fifth year of Fang Jiahe’s secret crush on him.
He and Qi Nanxun grew up together, and their relationship was so close that they were practically “joined at the hip.” The reason he had the courage to confess that day was partly because he had been drinking, and partly because Qi Nanxun had just gone through a breakup. Unable to bear the thought of Qi Nanxun dating someone else again, he adopted a “go for broke” attitude and, bolstered by liquid courage, confessed directly.
If he were rejected, he could use that as a reason to finally force himself to give up on Qi Nanxun.
He had realized his unusual feelings for Qi Nanxun back in middle school. It was also at that time that he discovered he was different from others; later, he learned that people like him were called homosexuals.
It was only after realizing his feelings for Qi Nanxun that he understood the small pink crystal heart that popped up above his own head was his love for Qi Nanxun.
But from that moment on, he also knew that Qi Nanxun’s feelings for him were completely different from his feelings for Qi Nanxun.
Qi Nanxun’s kindness toward him was merely the concern of a best friend; his “liking” was purely the affection between friends.
Unlike Fang Jiahe, who harbored a secret, romantic love.
Qi Nanxun was handsome and well-bred, polite and gentlemanly toward everyone. He carried the image of a refined and elegant noble son perfectly, so his popularity at school had always been very high.
Once during a high school assembly on the playground, the moment Fang Jiahe touched Qi Nanxun, a massive swarm of small pink crystal hearts popped up over Qi Nanxun’s head, giving Fang Jiahe quite a shock.
Although many people confessed to Qi Nanxun back then, he rejected them all. Fang Jiahe had deliberately tested him by asking why he didn’t date, and Qi Nanxun said that in high school he wanted to focus on his studies and didn’t have such thoughts. This put Fang Jiahe’s mind at ease; if he couldn’t have him, then no one else could either.
Because Qi Nanxun felt nothing toward the girls’ confessions, Fang Jiahe harbored a faint sliver of hope, thinking that perhaps Qi Nanxun was like him and might like boys as well.
However, during their freshman year, Qi Nanxun started dating. His partner was a girl of the pure and lovely type.
At that moment, Fang Jiahe’s heart shattered. He not only learned the type of person Qi Nanxun liked, but also realized that Qi Nanxun’s sexual orientation could not possibly be toward men.
But once, when Qi Nanxun and his girlfriend were both present, Fang Jiahe touched Qi Nanxun and discovered that only Qi Nanxun had a small pink heart over his head, while the girl had nothing. This meant that it was the girl who liked Qi Nanxun unilaterally.
Fang Jiahe didn’t understand why Qi Nanxun would agree to date her if he didn’t like her.
But even though he knew Qi Nanxun didn’t like the girl, the intimate interactions between Qi Nanxun and the girl still triggered him.
Perhaps it was related to Qi Nanxun’s personality; regardless, Qi Nanxun was still very caring and considerate toward his girlfriend. When the girl was with him, she always appeared to be very happy.
During that period, Fang Jiahe’s heart was twisted with pain every day. He could only hide in his dormitory at night and secretly wipe away tears. He was unwilling to go look for Qi Nanxun, as he didn’t want to see the sweet scenes of Qi Nanxun together with his girlfriend.
Unfortunately, Qi Nanxun had no idea about his feelings. When Fang Jiahe didn’t seek him out, Qi Nanxun would take the initiative to find Fang Jiahe, which only added to his torment.
