Perfect Possession - Episode 69
Holding his breath, Jaehoon slowly got out of bed. He turned his head slightly to look at Seo-yeon, who was fast asleep. Thankfully, she hadn’t woken up and was sleeping soundly.
He smiled gently, using his fingers to carefully brush a strand of hair that had fallen onto her face, pushing it back behind her ear.
Because Chairman Han, with his impatient nature, had scheduled a meeting in the morning, Jaehoon had to leave Geoje Island early in the morning. So, Seo-yeon had even set an alarm to see Jaehoon off.
However, because Tae-yul had played so excitedly after coming to Geoje Island, he had fallen asleep early in the evening, only to wake up once at midnight, looking for Seo-yeon.
It had only been a few hours since he had gotten him back to sleep, so Jaehoon secretly turned off the alarm Seo-yeon had set without her knowing.
“See you tonight.”
Jaehoon, intending to leave without waking Seo-yeon, got out of bed and headed to the bathroom. He stood under the slightly cold water, calmly reviewing the details of the deal he would make with Chairman Han.
If Chairman Han didn’t accept even one of those details, Jaehoon was determined not to return to Do-young. He was feeling in every moment these days what his grandfather had truly wanted from him.
And how much the man had blamed himself. His grandfather, who had showered Jaehoon with even more affection because of his self-reproach for not raising his two sons properly, truly wanted something. That was that no business could be done without love.
That a company is also a person, and people are beings who live by sharing love. Jaehoon realized his grandfather’s sincerity that if the owner of a company didn’t embrace that, it would ultimately self-destruct.
So, it was for his family, but also for the future of Do-young, that Jaehoon had to make this impossible deal happen.
Jaehoon wiped the fog from the mirror and stared intently at his reflection.
“I can’t let Tae-yul carry this burden. I have to do it.”
Jaehoon muttered lowly and went out to the dressing room to dry his hair. He opened the closet door and carefully chose a suit.
‘When you go to propose a difficult deal, you have to wear the most handsome suit. For a man, a suit is a statement. If you go to meet a picky buyer in work clothes or casual wear, it’s over before you even cross the threshold.’
Jaehoon recalled what his grandfather had said. The thing he had been most careful about during his business career was his suit.
So, Jaehoon had inherited all of his grandfather’s high-end suits, as they were of similar build. And he had all of them altered to his style with the help of a designer.
Among them, Jaehoon took out the navy suit that his grandfather had worn at his retirement ceremony. It was a suit that he had worn only once and passed on to Jaehoon. At that time, an Italian designer had visited in person to make this suit.
He later learned that the late Chairman Han had ordered the designer to make a suit that would suit his grandson Jaehoon better than himself.
At the time, Jaehoon had wondered why he had done that, but now he could understand what his grandfather had been thinking.
The navy suit fit Jaehoon’s long legs perfectly, without a single flaw. It was the first time he had worn it since his grandfather, but even after all this time, it didn’t look out of date at all, like the latest fashion.
He chose a silk tie with small logos that matched the navy suit. Jaehoon checked his reflection in the full-length mirror and opened the drawer where he kept his accessories.
Jaehoon chose a tie pin and cufflinks made with dozens of blue diamonds and held them up to the mirror. Because they were the same color family, they blended in more luxuriously without standing out.
Finally, he put on the wristwatch he had inherited from his grandfather. This mechanical watch was a precious item made only for the late Chairman Han, so Jaehoon only wore it on important days.
Jaehoon closed the wristwatch case and turned around. A sexy smile suddenly spread across his lips. Seo-yeon, wearing a gown, was leaning against the door, having been there since who knows when.
Seo-yeon looked at Jaehoon and approached him with a lovely smile. She straightened the knot of Jaehoon’s tie.
“I was watching so intently to see when you’d notice. How can a man be so engrossed in getting dressed?”
“Why did you wake up? I turned off the alarm so you could sleep more.”
“Because you weren’t there, I was cold. There, all done. Wow, my husband looks great.”
Seo-yeon said, gently stroking the lapel of his suit. Then, she stood on tiptoe and lightly kissed Jaehoon on the lips.
“I’ve given you plenty of love energy, so everything you want will go well today.”
She realized that Jaehoon’s attention to his attire meant that today’s work was that important. She could guess because he had once told her about his grandfather when he was drunk.
“Is this how you seduce your husband, who’s going to a once-in-a-lifetime important deal at this early hour, with a kiss and then tell him to have a good trip?”
Seo-yeon whispered in his ear with a seductive smile.
“Who knows? Maybe I’ll be waiting for you quietly tonight.”
Jaehoon wrapped his arms tightly around Seo-yeon’s waist, put his lips to her neck, and said.
“Let Tae-yul play late today.”
“Don’t worry.”
The two looked at each other and smiled softly, then took hands and went outside.
“Shall we check on Tae-yul?”
“Let’s just go. I barely got him back to sleep today.”
Jaehoon said as they passed Tae-yul’s room, and Seo-yeon lowered her voice. Because Tae-yul’s door was always open, the two walked past, muffling their footsteps.
That’s when it happened. There was a patting sound, followed by the sound of the door opening. Surprised, they turned around to see Tae-yul standing there with messy hair and holding a puppy doll.
He didn’t cry even after seeing Seo-yeon and Jaehoon. Tae-yul rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand, then ran to them and hugged their legs tightly.
“Daddy? Go?”
Jaehoon quickly picked up Tae-yul and gave a surprised laugh.
“You didn’t get up because I’m leaving, did you?”
“I think that’s what happened. It’s the first time he’s woken up alone and not cried. I think things will go well today?”
“I think so too. Son, Daddy will be back.”
“Okay. Come quick, quick.”
“Oh my, he’s even telling you to come quickly.”
Seo-yeon touched Tae-yul’s cheek with her hand.
“Our Tae-yul’s language skills are improving by leaps and bounds.”
“Just you wait. We’ll be pushed back later.”
Although he had a big day ahead of him, the three of them chatted as usual and went outside. Hyun-shik, Sung-joon, and even Mrs. Kim and Butler Park were waiting for Jaehoon.
Hyun-shik was dressed in a handsome suit like Jaehoon, but Sung-joon was wearing a gown.
“Sung-joon will be here.”
“Yes.”
Seo-yeon said, taking Tae-yul in her arms.
“Hyung. No, Vice Chairman. Have a good trip.”
“Please take care of things.”
“Don’t worry about things here.”
Jaehoon patted Sung-joon on the shoulder once and looked at Tae-yul.
“Daddy will be back. Play well with Mommy.”
“Daddy, tap tap, Tae-yul.”
He must have liked being tapped on the shoulder by Sung-joon, so he tapped his own shoulder and said. People burst out laughing at the sight.
“Our son must be jealous.”
Seo-yeon winked at Jaehoon.
“I think it’s natural, what are you talking about.”
Jaehoon patted Tae-yul and kissed him on the forehead. Then, feeling good, Tae-yul voluntarily waved his hand.
“Daddy, bye-bye.”
Jaehoon got into the car, receiving the send-off from the people. Seo-yeon didn’t know what conditions he would present to Chairman Han. She knew that he would get back the shares of Woojin Group, but she didn’t know anything else.
But whatever it was, Seo-yeon believed that Jaehoon would do well. She waved with Tae-yul until the car disappeared.
Jaehoon didn’t want to sit face to face with Chairman Han and have a meal. He sat quietly, watching Chairman Han eat rice in his soup.
Chairman Han watched Jaehoon as he ate. He also knew the suit Jaehoon was wearing. When his father had passed on the clothes he had made at great expense to Jaehoon, Chairman Han had not been pleased. He thought that if anyone was to inherit them, it should be him.
When Jaehoon came inside wearing that suit, Chairman Han couldn’t help but feel nervous.
“Those are the clothes Father gave you.”
“Yes.”
Chairman Han put down his spoon and glanced at Jaehoon, who hadn’t taken a single bite.
“Why aren’t you eating?”
“I ate lightly.”
“It’s a luncheon appointment, and you ate rice?”
“I left early in the morning. And Father unilaterally set the time. I have no intention of having a meal together.”
Chairman Han frowned, drank some water, and rinsed his mouth loudly.
Jaehoon, disgusted, wanted to jump up from his seat at that moment. This was Chairman Han’s method of testing the waters by irritating the other party.
“You said you wanted to talk.”
“Let’s do that. Clean this up.”
At Chairman Han’s shout, the owner of the Korean restaurant came in himself and cleared the table with the staff. The two sat facing each other across a large round table.
Soon after, the owner brought in neat tea and refreshments and left the room.
“What do you want?”
“What Father wants is Tae-yul’s shares that went to Woojin Group and for me to return, right?”
Chairman Han glared at Jaehoon for pointing out what he wanted before he could say it himself. He was upset, but because he was the one who needed something, he slowly opened his mouth.
“Can you even get back the shares you gave to Woojin?”
“It’s not impossible.”
“Speak.”
“Give up some of Woojin’s shares. Then Do-young’s shares will never go to Woojin again.”
“What?”
Chairman Han slammed the table and jumped up from his seat. The teacup fell over, and hot tea spilled out.
Jaehoon didn’t move an eyebrow and stood up from his seat.
“It doesn’t seem like you’re in the mood to talk, so I’ll be going back. Father said, ‘If the other party gets angry, it means they want it that much more.’ You’ve just revealed your weakness, so I have nothing to lose.”
Jaehoon bowed his head and turned around immediately. But he didn’t take a single step and stopped.
“W-wait. Sit down.”
At Chairman Han’s voice, suppressing his anger, Jaehoon turned around.
