Perfect Possession - Episode 68
The next day, the stock price plummeted even further, putting Do-young Group in a state of emergency. The board of directors visited Chairman Han, urging him to bring Jaehoon back immediately. Chairman Han, unable to withstand the pressure any longer, was frantically searching for Jaehoon.
“That bastard is determined to ruin Do-young. He’s so blinded by that woman that he can’t see anything!”
Mi-ryung, watching Chairman Han pacing back and forth like an angry bull, gave a bitter smile.
“Who was it that tried to ruin Do-young? Your method was wrong from the start.”
“Then what’s your method? There are two kinds of people in this world: those who can be bought with money and those who can’t. That secretary is someone who can’t be bought with money. Then you should have used a different method.”
“What method? Cutting her off like you’re doing now? Just admit it. It’s not like I like that woman either. But Jaehoon will never bend to your will. So, before things get even worse, you should give in.”
“What!”
Chairman Han roared at Mi-ryung.
“Woojin is desperately buying up Do-young shares. Even with Tae-yul’s shares already transferred, there’s talk of whether he’ll even attend the next board meeting. And you’re worried about that woman? Go and apologize and bring Jaehoon back.”
“I’d bring him back if I knew where he was!”
“Find out right now! Do you know how much money went into the European project? And how much profit Do-young will make when it succeeds? Is your stubbornness more important than that? I’ll accept that woman if it’s for Do-young’s sake.”
Chairman Han glared at Mi-ryung, breathing heavily. He knew better than anyone what would happen if Jaehoon left Do-young.
He wanted to grab Jaehoon by the collar and drag him back immediately, but he was frustrated to hear that even Hyun-shik, Sung-joon, and Jae-moon didn’t know where he was. Mi-ryung, adding fuel to the fire, was so infuriating that he couldn’t stand it.
“Those stupid bastards can’t even find one person properly and just take the money. I’m going crazy!”
Mi-ryung, disgusted by Chairman Han who only blamed others, left the room.
“Whazzat?”
“Jajangmyeon.” (Black bean noodles)
Tae-yul asked like a song and slurped up the jajangmyeon. Seo-yeon thought his face covered in black sauce was so cute that she took a picture.
Normally, he would have asked her to wipe his dirty mouth, but he was so engrossed in the delicious jajangmyeon that he didn’t seem to care. Every time he ate the jajangmyeon, he looked at Seo-yeon with wide eyes and asked.
“Mommy, whazzat?”
“Jajangmyeon.”
Seo-yeon would smile and answer each time.
“Jamyun?”
“Oh, our Tae-yul almost said it right. Is it that good?”
“Yummy, Mommy, yummy.”
Tae-yul picked up a noodle and held it out to Seo-yeon. It was as if he couldn’t explain how delicious it was, so he wanted her to try it herself. Seo-yeon quickly took the noodle and widened her eyes like Tae-yul.
“It’s really delicious.”
“Weally. Hehe. Mommy, weally.”
Tae-yul ran to Mrs. Kim, who had made the jajangmyeon, hugged her tightly, and then returned to his seat to eat deliciously.
“He’s so happy.”
“I know. He brought a picture of jajangmyeon and asked, ‘What’s this?’ I guess he wanted to eat it. But how did he know he could eat it from the picture?”
Seo-yeon lightly wiped Tae-yul’s mouth and hands and said.
“It’s instinct. Wow, it smells amazing. Mrs. Kim, please give us a bowl too.”
“We’re here too, Tae-yul.”
“Hello.”
Jaehoon, who had said he was going out for a while, returned with Sung-joon and Hyun-shik at lunchtime. Seo-yeon turned around and greeted them.
“Welcome back.”
“Tamtam.”
Tae-yul jumped up and waved his hand.
“Tae-yul, have you been well?”
Hyun-shik greeted Tae-yul and then greeted Seo-yeon.
“Welcome, Director Jung.”
They ate at the living room table, but Seo-yeon asked for the three men’s lunch to be served in the dining room. However, Jaehoon suggested eating here, so a jajangmyeon party broke out on the table.
Even after finishing his own portion, Tae-yul didn’t leave and sat on Jaehoon’s lap, getting a bite here and there. But soon, Seo-yeon took Tae-yul away from him as his stomach became full.
She was happy that Tae-yul was eating so well, but seeing that he couldn’t be controlled, Seo-yeon decided to only let him eat jajangmyeon once a month.
After the three men went into the study after lunch, Seo-yeon went to the bathroom to wash Tae-yul’s dirty face.
“Your handsome face is covered in black.”
Seo-yeon lifted Tae-yul up and showed him in the mirror, as there was jajangmyeon sauce on his hair as well.
“Eww. Phoo phoo.”
Tae-yul frowned and pretended to wash his face with his hands.
“Shall we wash your face?”
“Phoo phoo.”
“Tae-yul will ‘phoo phoo,’ so close your eyes tightly.”
Seo-yeon smiled gently as Tae-yul closed his eyes as soon as she finished speaking. While washing his face so that water wouldn’t get into his eyes, her mind was in the study.
Calling Hyun-shik and Sung-joon meant that Do-young was in a more serious situation than she thought. She hoped it would be resolved well before it got worse.
Seo-yeon felt sorry for Jaehoon and tried to shake off the feeling. He wouldn’t want her to blame herself for what had happened because of her.
Knowing that, Seo-yeon was trying to accept it calmly. But when she saw Jaehoon struggling, it wasn’t easy to shake off the guilt.
‘I’m sorry, Jaehoon.’
She knew Jaehoon wouldn’t like it if she said it out loud, so she whispered it to herself and wiped Tae-yul’s clean face.
“Our son is handsome again. Shall we go out and play ball now?”
“Ball ball good.”
Tae-yul jumped and hugged Seo-yeon, humming an incomprehensible song. She took Tae-yul out to the garden so as not to disturb Jaehoon.
Jaehoon’s expression hardened as he looked at the bandage on Sung-joon’s forehead.
“What happened?”
“No, I just got a little hurt.”
Sung-joon didn’t want to tell Jaehoon about Chairman Han. They were already at each other’s throats, and he didn’t want to add to it with his own problems.
“Tell me.”
“I bumped into something. I was drunk and dizzy.”
Sung-joon avoided Jaehoon’s gaze and made up an excuse. But Jaehoon looked at Hyun-shik and asked.
“You tell me. I can tell even if you don’t say it.”
“That’s…”
“Hyun-shik.”
Sung-joon quickly looked at Hyun-shik as he was about to open his mouth.
“Chairman Han hit him with a cigarette case he threw.”
Hyun-shik answered honestly.
“Now he’s resorting to physical violence? How far is he going to go?”
Jaehoon leaned back in his chair, angry.
“What about the phone?”
He asked, looking at Hyun-shik.
“I can’t even keep it on. When they couldn’t get a satisfactory answer from the secretary’s office, hundreds of calls poured into my phone.”
“The board of directors is also calling me, telling me to bring my brother back. They even came to my house, saying that I’m going to ruin the company with family problems… Tch, who started it first?”
Sung-joon clicked his tongue and said.
Jaehoon watched the two of them and thought for a moment, then opened his laptop to check Do-young’s stock. The stock was falling to the point where he couldn’t ignore it any longer. But he should never contact them first.
“Everyone, keep your phones on. If Chairman Han calls, connect him to me.”
Jaehoon had turned off his phone completely since coming here and hadn’t taken it out of his bag.
Hyun-shik and Sung-joon looked at each other and turned on their phones as Jaehoon instructed. As soon as they turned them on, missed call alerts went off like crazy. Sung-joon checked his missed calls and said casually.
“There’s no way Chairman Han would call me. Director Jung called every 30 seconds. Wow, that’s persistent.”
At that moment, Hyun-shik’s phone rang. Hyun-shik stared at it and looked at Jaehoon.
“It’s Chairman Han.”
“Not Director Jo?”
“No.”
Jaehoon stared intently at Hyun-shik and opened his mouth.
“Answer it.”
As soon as Jaehoon gave his permission, Hyun-shik answered the phone.
“I answered the pho…”
-Why are you answering the phone now!
“I’m sorry.”
-The fact that you guys turned your phones back on means Jaehoon is next to you. Put him on the phone right now.
“Please wait a moment.”
Hyun-shik handed the phone to Jaehoon.
“I’ve put you on the phone.”
-You, where are you! How dare you play with Do-young?
“You played with my life, Father, and you’re acting like this over a slight drop in the stock price?”
-Slight? Did you just say ‘slight’? How is that ‘slight’? And when did I ever play with your life?
“My family is my life. If you continue to try to separate us, it won’t end with a stock crash.”
Jaehoon could hardly bear to hear Chairman Han’s heavy breathing over the phone, even though he was on the other side. After a long time of heavy breathing, Chairman Han lowered his voice heavily and said.
-What do you want?
“I can’t tell you over the phone like this.”
-The board of directors has risen up. They won’t leave me alone. It’s all chaos because of you.
“Why is that my fault? If there’s anyone to blame, it’s the two of you who thought of your son’s life as part of the company’s profits.”
-You’re Do-young’s successor. How can someone like you only think about his own life?
Jaehoon let out a hollow laugh.
“Do-young’s foundation wasn’t built by you. It was built by Grandfather. That grandfather married the person he loved, not for profit. Don’t you know how important that is!”
Jaehoon couldn’t help but shout. All he wanted was to choose his own life and live it. That was all, but he was furious at Chairman Han, who couldn’t understand.
“I will never return to Do-young if you don’t acknowledge my family. So, the next time you call, please have that in mind first.”
-Wait! Don’t hang up.
Jaehoon suppressed his rising anger and put the phone back to his ear.
-Let’s meet and talk.
