Perfect Possession - Episode 47
Tae-yul, who had been nervously looking around the airplane with a tense face on his first flight, finally burst into tears when it took off.
Ever since that day at the hospital when he cried with all his might to announce his existence, Tae-yul cried often. But if anyone in the family acknowledged him, he would quickly stop crying and smile brightly.
It seemed he knew now that there were people who would hug him and soothe him even if he cried a little. Seo-yeon’s heart ached at the sight, but she decided to remember the pain but only keep the reality she was seeing in her heart.
Crybaby Tae-yul. The two of them would sometimes call their son that.
“Mocha? Mocha?”
Tae-yul, being held in Jaehoon’s arms as they left the Jeju Airport, twisted his body, looking for something.
“What’s mocha?”
Jaehoon looked at Seo-yeon next to him and asked.
“I think he’s looking for his stroller. The scenery is nice, and the weather is good, so he probably wants to ride in his car.”
Seo-yeon said playfully, grabbing Tae-yul’s hand, which was reaching for the stroller. As soon as they arrived, the staff waiting loaded all the luggage and headed to the Jeju villa.
Of course, Tae-yul’s favorite stroller was in there too.
The villa manager was waiting at the airport entrance with the car for the three of them.
“Tae-yul, let’s ride the stroller at the villa. The man you saw earlier took it, so it’s not here now.”
“Buh?”
When Tae-yul heard an unfamiliar word, he would widen his eyes and tilt his head. His expression was so cute, like a rabbit, that Seo-yeon couldn’t stop smiling just by looking at him.
Jaehoon worried unnecessarily that he shouldn’t grow up to be too docile, but Seo-yeon only found him adorable.
“Find the villa on your phone and show it to him.”
“The villa? It’s just a house.”
“It’s not just a house. It’s a mansion that Grandpa left us. You know the address. Show him the road view. Vividly.”
As he said, Seo-yeon found the villa on the road view and showed it to Tae-yul. Then, he went wild like an excited baby rabbit. His handsome ears perked up, and he rounded his lips. Then, he made a baby seal sound.
“Ooh, ooh, ooh.”
Seo-yeon and Jaehoon looked at each other, paused for a moment, and then burst out laughing, not even thinking about the place. Tae-yul, happy that his mom and dad were laughing, also laughed out loud and wiggled his butt.
“I should have recorded this.”
“He’s so cute.”
“I’ve heard that sound somewhere before…”
“It’s a baby seal sound. We went to the Do-young Aquarium when a seal had a baby, remember?”
“Ah, right.”
The company had gone to see the new baby animals at the Do-young Aquarium. Originally, the vice president was supposed to attend, but Jaehoon stepped in at the last minute.
Of course, Seo-yeon, who was his secretary, went with him. It seemed that Jaehoon had secretly prepared a date for Seo-yeon since the two of them had just become deeply involved. It was the day after she said she liked animals.
“You laughed a lot back then too.”
“I did? I don’t remember. Tae-yul, if we go there, there’s a stroller, I mean, a mocha. Shall we go and ride it?”
“Yeah. Da-da, car-car?”
“Then we have to go by car-car. There it is.”
Mr. Oh, the villa manager in his mid-50s, quickly approached and greeted them. He had already heard the story, so he wasn’t surprised to see Tae-yul and Seo-yeon.
“Welcome. The weather is the best it’s been all week since I heard the vice president’s family was coming.”
“Thank you for your hard work.”
Jaehoon took the car keys from Mr. Oh and went to the back seat.
“Are you really going to drive?”
“I told you, it’ll just be the three of us.”
“Well, I don’t know?”
Jaehoon, who had put Tae-yul in the car seat, checked the seat belt and turned to Seo-yeon.
He narrowed his eyes and asked Seo-yeon, who looked doubtful.
“What’s with that look?”
“No, it’s just that whenever something happens, you say, ‘Hyun-shik.’ Or ‘Jae-moon.'”
Seo-yeon imitated Jaehoon’s voice and called Hyun-shik and Jae-moon in turn.
“Wait, so you’re saying I can’t do anything without those two?”
“Hey, don’t take it that far.”
Seo-yeon crossed her arms and gave Jaehoon, who was speaking gruffly, an affectionate smile.
“That’s what you’re saying. I just call those two often because of work.”
“Then even if Tae-yul falls and cries, you won’t call the teacher in the middle of her date like last time, right?”
“That was an emergency. He was crying so loudly. His toe turned red.”
“He only cried for 10 seconds.”
Jaehoon couldn’t find anything to say to that, so he said, “Trust me. There’s nothing I can’t do,” and opened the back door, waiting for Seo-yeon to get in. Only after confirming that she was in the back seat did Jaehoon take the wheel.
It took about 40 minutes to get from Jeju Airport to the villa. But as they drove along the coastal road with a clear view of the sea, Tae-yul looked out the window, excited, and pointed everywhere.
Thanks to that, Seo-yeon and Jaehoon took turns explaining, making the trip to the villa enjoyable.
Tae-yul saw the sea for the first time and showed them the water in his cup, saying “Wawa?”, making them laugh.
Jaehoon’s grandfather, the second chairman of the Do-young Group, was very different from the current chairman. The employees would secretly compare the capable and respected late Chairman Han with his son, the current Chairman Han.
The older executives and board members who remembered the late Chairman Han looked at Jaehoon and said he resembled him, optimistically predicting the future of the Do-young Group.
Also, one of the biggest reasons why the late Chairman Han was respected by so many people was that he was known as a devoted husband in the business world.
Seo-yeon had heard that the villa they were going to now was also a gift to his wife, built on a large plot of land with a view of the sea.
It was needless to say that it had an outdoor swimming pool for his wife, who loved swimming, and an indoor swimming pool so she could swim in winter or on rainy days.
Chairman Han, who passed away not long after losing his wife, left a will that the mansion would be inherited by Jaehoon and his family.
When he met Seo-yeon, Jaehoon didn’t bring her here. She had once heard him mutter, “I wonder why he included the clause ‘with family’,” as he passed by.
Perhaps Jaehoon was disappointed that he couldn’t bring Seo-yeon to the Jeju villa that was inherited with his family. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have dropped everything and come all the way to Jeju as soon as Tae-yul opened his mouth.
On the way to the main gate of the villa, thick camphor trees grew lushly on both sides of the driveway. Seo-yeon couldn’t imagine how large the land was on which the villa was built, since this was already part of the villa’s land.
At the entrance of the villa, there was a two-story house with a mini-garden for guests to stay in. Just looking at this, she could tell that Chairman Han wanted to be alone with his wife when they were together.
As the villa gate opened remotely, Jaehoon went inside and glanced at the villa where the guests stayed. Seeing this, Seo-yeon put Tae-yul’s straw cup in her bag and muttered as she passed by.
“If I had known there was a house like that attached, I would have told everyone to come. It’s separated from the main house, so it wouldn’t bother each other. It’s a shame.”
Judging by the fact that he didn’t respond right away, it seemed that Jaehoon had thought the same thing. Seo-yeon suppressed her laughter and unbuckled Tae-yul’s seat belt as the car stopped.
“Mommy, wha’s dat?”
Tae-yul, who used to ask “Wha’s dat?”, had been taught by Jaehoon for half a day to say “What is it?” He said that sounded better.
“A villa. A big house that Grandpa left for Tae-yul.”
“Buh?”
“Yeah. Villa. Tae-yul, let’s have fun.”
“Yeah. Good.”
When Seo-yeon shook her shoulders and pretended to dance, Tae-yul followed along, shaking only one shoulder. It seemed difficult for him to shake both sides alternately, so when Jaehoon opened the door, he quickly reached out his arms to be held.
Seo-yeon, who went inside, was speechless and looked around with an admiring face. The walls were full of paintings, as if it were a museum.
There were also paintings by famous artists that Seo-yeon recognized. Since all the paintings here were also inherited by Jaehoon and his family, the value of the property was beyond calculation.
“The paintings on the wall are yours. The will hasn’t been properly sorted out yet, but Grandpa also left a clause saying that after the wedding, the items in the villa should be divided without fighting. He was a great man.”
Jaehoon, who turned to look at Seo-yeon, who was standing too quietly, shifted his gaze to Tae-yul, who was looking at the paintings with the same face as his mother.
His broad and firm chest heaved, and he suddenly grabbed his stomach and started laughing. Seo-yeon was so surprised by how loudly he was laughing that she hugged Tae-yul tightly.
Tae-yul, who was hugging his mother’s neck tightly, also frowned cutely, wondering why his dad was bending over and laughing.
“Jaehoon…?”
“Ah, just, just a moment. Ah really, I feel like I’m going to die from laughing so much. Ugh, I should have filmed it instead of laughing.”
Jaehoon, who had been laughing heartily, hit his palm with his fist and looked very disappointed.
“What’s wrong with you, really?”
“Da-da?”
“See, Tae-yul thinks it’s weird too.”
Jaehoon took a breath and looked at the two of them. Then, his lips twitched as if he was about to laugh again.
“What is it, really?”
Seo-yeon was happy, but she was a little annoyed.
“The way you two were spaced out was so similar that I couldn’t help but laugh. You were standing there with your eyes wide open and your mouths open. Ah, I should have taken a picture with my phone.”
Jaehoon, despite Seo-yeon’s dumbfounded expression, was regretful and didn’t know what to do. He put his arm around Seo-yeon’s shoulder, brought his face close, and whispered.
“Sorry. But it was really funny.”
Seo-yeon turned her face away from the man who was trying to gently overlap his lips with hers.
“You can’t kiss me after making fun of me, can you?”
“Ah, then what. I’ll have to do it with our son. Tae-yul, give Daddy a kiss.”
“Hmph.”
Tae-yul imitated what Seo-yeon did and made a loud “Hmph” before turning his face away.
“Oh my. Did he just reject Daddy’s kiss?”
Seo-yeon felt sorry for Jaehoon, but she was excited by Tae-yul’s cute behavior and said.
“I can’t believe you two are rejecting such a handsome man’s kiss. If it’s like this, I’ll just have to do it by force.”
Jaehoon hugged Seo-yeon and Tae-yul and showered them with kisses. When Seo-yeon laughed and pushed him away, Tae-yul, who was excited, also kissed and hugged his mom and dad’s necks.
But suddenly, Tae-yul said “Nummies!”, stopping the three of them from kissing.
