Perfect Possession - Episode 46
Mi-ryung pressed her throbbing head with her hands and closed her eyes. Chairman Han, jumping around like a madman, paced back and forth in front of her like an angry bull, making her head feel like it was splitting.
“How could he dare humiliate me in front of Director Park after all I’ve done for him!”
Chairman Han gulped down the water on the table. Some of the water he couldn’t swallow dripped onto his shirt. He roughly wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and slammed the glass down on the table.
At the same time, Mi-ryung opened her eyes. Unfortunately, her gaze stopped on his wet shirt. Her brow furrowed as if she had seen something dirty.
“Now that I think about it, him being close with that Director Park was all a scheme to screw his old man over. We need to take Jaehoon off this project.”
“Jaehoon planned that project from the start. He didn’t move because he saw you in Europe. And you’re going to take him off?”
“Yes. I’ll take him off and put President Park in his place. Unlike his father, that guy knows how to make a deal.”
When Jaehoon single-handedly landed an important project that even J&D couldn’t push through, everyone envied Mi-ryung at social gatherings and bowed their heads in front of her.
In particular, Mrs. Seo, the wife of the J&D chairman, who had always been high and mighty, shed her haughty facade and asked Mi-ryung to have dinner with her. Then, she earnestly asked to marry her daughter, Mina, to Jaehoon.
The project, which took four years, was important to Jaehoon, but it was also an important opportunity for Mi-ryung to raise her stock.
“Are you crazy? You’re going to hand over a done deal to Director Park’s son? Have you lost your mind?”
“I’m in my right mind. Do you think I’m crazy? I’m the chairman. Even if he’s my son, he needs to know that he can be demoted if he displeases the chairman.”
“Demoted?”
“If this deal falls through, I’ll call President Park to headquarters and send Jaehoon to that position. He’s been at the top since he was born, so he probably won’t last a month before he admits he was wrong and throws up his hands. Just you wait. I’ll divorce him from that woman and bring my grandson back.”
Mi-ryung was speechless. He didn’t know his own son at all, and she didn’t even want to respond. Even she couldn’t control Jaehoon and always had to be careful and work hard.
Jaehoon’s gaze at her today still frightened her. It was a look that said he was ready to throw away not only Do-young Group but also his relationship with his parents if she really tried to touch Seo-yeon and take Tae-yul away.
She straightened her aching head and stood up.
“I met Tae-yul.”
“Oh? You met him? How is he? Does he look like Jaehoon? But did she let you meet him willingly?”
Chairman Han’s thick, bushy eyebrows shot up in anticipation.
“He’s receiving psychological treatment.”
“What! Why? Did that woman abuse our grandson or something?”
“Think before you speak!”
Mi-ryung didn’t know the details, but she knew that she and Sung-hee were the cause of Tae-yul going to the orphanage. Not wanting Chairman Han to know that fact, Mi-ryung raised her voice.
“I think he couldn’t speak for some reason.”
“What? Then he can’t hear?”
“I said there was a reason. Anyway, it seems he can speak again, so don’t provoke Jaehoon. If we try to separate Jaehoon and that child, who knows what will happen to the shares your father left you.”
“What are you saying! Is he going to sell those shares or something?”
“Have you forgotten? Your father’s will stated that if the shares are sold, ‘the agent must pay an amount equivalent to the child when he turns 20.’ If Jaehoon sells those shares to someone other than us, we’re the ones who will be in trouble.”
“Surely, Jaehoon wouldn’t do that. How much does he care about Do-young Group?”
Chairman Han, who had just said he would demote him and remove him from the project leader position, shut his mouth.
Jaehoon was unpredictable when he lost his temper. Even though he was his son, Jaehoon, who resembled his grandfather, had a scary side.
“Do you have some kind of plan?”
Chairman Han’s voice lost its strength. He believed that Mi-ryung, who was more quick-witted than him in these matters, would handle it without making mistakes.
“I just said, we can’t get involved directly.”
“Then?”
“We need to provoke that child to step down. If money doesn’t work, we’ll use his heart.”
Mi-ryung thought of Mina. She didn’t know how Mina would react if she knew that Jaehoon had a son and a woman he had already registered his marriage with.
But Mi-ryung somehow thought that she wouldn’t give up on Jaehoon easily. Originally, Mina had shown great interest in Jaehoon even before the marriage talks.
Mi-ryung thought it wouldn’t be bad to entrust this matter to Mina, who had a side that resembled her. Even if it didn’t work out, it wouldn’t be bad for them.
“His heart?”
Chairman Han, who couldn’t understand, frowned and asked. Mi-ryung frowned at Chairman Han, who spoke before he thought.
“The best way to deal with a woman is to use another woman.”
“Are you thinking of using Mina? Even if she did, she wouldn’t want to marry a guy like that, would she? He has a child.”
“You don’t know women’s hearts at all. Anyway, we have nothing to lose, so just watch.”
Chairman Han didn’t like Mi-ryung’s plan at all. Judging from what Jaehoon was doing, he didn’t seem to have any intention of hiding the fact that he had a son from the company.
The reporters would soon smell it, and it would be known to the world. Then it was only a matter of time before Mina found out.
He was suggesting to announce it first since it couldn’t be hidden and take a gamble, but it wasn’t a plan that suited Chairman Han’s personality. But there was no other good way right now. He reluctantly decided to follow Mi-ryung’s words and made one point clear.
“If it fails, I’ll do it my way, so keep that in mind.”
Mi-ryung glared at Chairman Han, who had stormed out, before closing her eyes. She believed that Mina would definitely get rid of that woman and accept Tae-yul.
Seo-yeon smiled as she looked back at Tae-yul, who was playing in the carrier. When his mouth opened, Tae-yul pointed to something he was curious about and asked, “Uh-ung?” When Jaehoon asked back, “What is it?”, he then asked, “Wha-it?”, making them laugh for a long time.
Even now, every time Seo-yeon packed her luggage into her bag, he asked, “Wha-it?”
Tae-yul looked at Seo-yeon, pressing down on his baby baseball cap with his finger. She waited quietly, her eyes shining.
“Wha-it?”
“So cute.”
“Who, me?”
Jaehoon, who had carried the packed carrier to the car himself, asked as he entered the dressing room.
“What’s he saying.”
Seo-yeon burst out laughing and glared at him.
“Isn’t ‘What’s he saying’ a bit much to say to your husband?”
“Then should I say ‘Wha-it’?”
“Ah, I’m a little weak to that.”
Jaehoon made a weak expression and hugged Seo-yeon. He looked at Tae-yul, who was sitting in the carrier and trying to put on his baseball cap backwards.
“Is he still doing that?”
“Wait a minute. You’re here, so he’ll ask again.”
Seo-yeon and Jaehoon watched Tae-yul with expectant eyes. Knowing that, Tae-yul shook his hat and smiled brightly.
“Daddy wha-it?”
Jaehoon burst out laughing at Tae-yul’s words, which had strangely turned into a casual tone. He went to his son, who looked like he was about to lie down in the carrier, and put on his baseball cap.
“This is a hat. It’s Tae-yul’s. Daddy’s is here.”
“Daddy?”
Tae-yul pressed down on the hat, which was several times bigger than his, and asked. Then he grabbed the hat and tried to put it on Jaehoon.
“Hat. Daddy. Hat.”
Tae-yul, who had closed his mouth when he was learning to speak, always followed the first part of simple words in a similar way. But the two were not impatient.
Just yesterday morning, all Tae-yul said was “Uh-ung” and “Ugh,” but as soon as he opened his eyes, he called out “Mommy” and “Daddy” and looked for them. That alone made the two of them happy.
Moreover, Tae-yul did not forget the words he had been taught once. Since yesterday, he called Mrs. Kim “Kiim” and Butler Park “Bam.” He had only said it once, but today he called them that and was happy when they came. He blinked his eyes and smiled brightly as if he was amazed that he was speaking. Just like now.
“Daddy. Hat.”
Tae-yul opened his mouth wide and smiled. The way his eyes curved into crescents made the hearts of those who saw him curve into crescents as well.
“Tae-yul is putting Daddy’s hat on for him? Thank you, son.”
“Hat. Mommy?”
Tae-yul put the hat on Jaehoon’s head and looked at Seo-yeon. His dark eyes seemed to be asking, “Why isn’t there one for Mommy?”
“My heart clenches every time you call her. You’re the only one who pronounces it clearly.”
“So, you’re jealous?”
“No, I’m so proud.”
Jaehoon said sincerely. Seo-yeon’s eyes welled up because she knew what he meant. At that time, Tae-yul stood up abruptly, put strength in his stomach, and said.
“Mommy hat?”
“Oh, I’m sorry. Just a moment.”
Tae-yul spoke loudly, his face turning red, because she didn’t respond to his words first. Jaehoon picked up Tae-yul and went to find Seo-yeon’s hat, which he hadn’t packed yet.
Until then, Jaehoon’s baseball cap was tilted on his head.
“Mommy’s hat is here.”
Seo-yeon said, showing the baseball cap she had bought as a family set.
“Mommy hat?”
Pleased, he picked up the hat and put it on Seo-yeon’s head.
“But why did you buy this?”
Jaehoon praised Tae-yul for doing well and asked Seo-yeon.
“I’m going to wear it when we play ball. I’m going to ask Manager Jung to take a video. You’re going with us, right?”
“I was going to go just the two of us. I’ll take the video of us playing ball. Let’s just go the two of us this time. Are you going to be tired?”
Jaehoon didn’t want anyone else to accompany them on their first trip with Tae-yul.
“Really? I thought you were going to go with us.”
Seo-yeon was already excited about the trip with just the three of them.
“What’s tiring about it? I like it.”
She gave Jaehoon a quick kiss on the lips and quickly fell away. The hat she was wearing on her head fell to the floor because Jaehoon was leaning in.
“Oh, hat. Hat.”
Tae-yul, who was in Jaehoon’s arms, stretched his body to the floor, trying to pick up the hat.
“Oh, son. Your weight is increasing day by day, and my arms are getting sore.”
“He’s going to fall. Put him down quickly.”
When Jaehoon put him down, Tae-yul picked up the hat and, instead of putting it back on the two of them, went to the carrier and put it on top of the clothes and pressed it down with both hands. He seemed to be following what Seo-yeon was doing when she was packing.
Seo-yeon and Jaehoon made a fuss, calling Tae-yul a genius, and continued packing. The three of them became a family and went on their first trip.
