Perfect Possession - Episode 43
Jia felt like her insides were about to burst out from the tension. She often felt as if her organs were pushing up to her throat whenever she had to endure Mi-ryung’s silence.
That was how much power Mi-ryung had, enough to grab and shake a person’s internal organs.
Finally, Mi-ryung raised her eyes. Not missing the opportunity, Jia bowed her head and apologized again.
“I’m sorry, Great Aunt. I was just so curious as to why Tae-yul wasn’t being shown, and I was trying to get some information. I didn’t know I’d get caught so easily.”
“I need to find out what’s wrong myself.”
“Pardon?”
Jia breathed a sigh of relief when Mi-ryung, who had been glaring as if about to explode, spoke as if nothing had happened. She quickly told Mi-ryung the information she had gathered.
“He leaves the house around 10 o’clock twice a week. It’s Tuesdays and Thursdays, so tomorrow. I’ll take you there.”
“You’ve done well.”
“Really? You said the Vice Chairman was very angry.”
Jia decided to tell Mi-ryung everything about Mina’s situation since she was even praising her. Looking at Jaehoon now, there was almost no chance that even Mina could push Seo-yeon out and become the mistress of Do-young.
Jia thought that Mi-ryung was still the real power in the Do-young family.
“Of course, I’d be angry. But it’s not enough to sever the ties between parents and children. No matter how much he says that, I know Jaehoon. He’s not someone who would ever abandon Do-young. More than that, you need to find out how Tae-yul ended up in the orphanage.”
“Yes, Great Aunt. And, um, I have something to tell you.”
As Mi-ryung looked at her, Jia took out the photos of her with Mina and the bag exchange voucher she had received from her before her courage disappeared.
“Seo Mina contacted me a few days ago. She wanted me to arrange a meeting with the Vice Chairman. I, I received this back then but I wanted to ask Great Aunt first. I’m serious. But that bastard Sung-joon, I mean, Chief Han, must have been tailing me and took pictures.”
Mi-ryung stared intently at the bag exchange voucher, then raised one side of her lips.
“No. Tell her. It’s not difficult to arrange a meeting. Take the bag as a gift. But.”
She smiled as she glared at Jia. Mi-ryung’s smile always had the power to make people feel uneasy. Jia tensed up.
“Tell me how she acts. That’s your job. We also want to establish a relationship with J&D, so there’s nothing wrong with it.”
“Yes, Great Aunt.”
Jia said that, but inwardly she thought that if she messed up as a double agent, she would take all the blame. She resolved to create an escape route no matter what.
Jia took the bag exchange voucher again and straightened her mind.
“Tae-yul, this one or this one?”
Seo-yeon asked, showing Tae-yul a jacket with a rabbit logo and a thin jacket made of a baby version of a baseball uniform.
“Huh? Um.”
Tae-yul tilted his head and took the rice ball that Mrs. Kim offered.
“Should we start correcting this soon?”
After Jaehoon left for work, Tae-yul didn’t like eating in the dining room. Thinking it was too big, she was planning to remodel the small room next to the dining room on the weekend.
Now, Mrs. Kim was making rice balls and feeding him. He stared at Mrs. Kim, wanting more, as if it suited his taste.
“Let’s wait until the weekend.”
Mrs. Kim seemed to adore Tae-yul, who ate well without getting a single grain of rice on his mouth.
“Mrs. Kim, it must be hard for you.”
“What’s so hard about this? I’m happy. Oh my, you’re eating so well. Our young master.”
Tae-yul, who was smiling with his lips raised, poked the baseball jacket with his hand and suddenly sat on Seo-yeon’s lap.
“He seems to like the mistress’s arms.”
“Really?”
Seo-yeon hugged Tae-yul tightly and kissed his head. He didn’t say “Mom” or “Dad” yet, and he didn’t cry or laugh loudly, but Tae-yul expressed everything he wanted to say.
When he didn’t like something, he frowned like Jaehoon and turned his gaze away. When Jaehoon did that, she felt uncomfortable and tense, but Tae-yul was just lovely and cute.
After finishing his meal, he brushed his teeth before getting dressed. Tae-yul seemed to have been well-educated in brushing his teeth, or maybe it was ingrained in him, but when Seo-yeon said “Ah,” he obediently opened his mouth.
So she could clean every corner well. At first, her hand holding the toothbrush trembled because she was afraid of hurting his soft skin, so she couldn’t clean it well. But now she was able to clean his tongue skillfully.
“You have to spit it out because it’s bubbly. You can’t swallow it like last time.”
Seo-yeon widened her eyes and shook her head. When she said this, Tae-yul gargled exactly twice and spat out the mouthwash. He spat out half and swallowed half, though.
She quickly captured the image of Tae-yul holding water in his mouth, making a circle, gargling, and spitting it out on her phone.
Jaehoon always felt sorry for not being able to be with Tae-yul when he went to the hospital. Seo-yeon was planning to send this video to Jaehoon.
“Dad might come to the hospital in a flash if he sees it. Okay, we brushed our teeth, so shall we go play with Dr. Yang now?”
Tae-yul nodded his head greatly, as if Dr. Yang reminded him of playing. Jae-moon was also accompanying them today and was waiting in the parking lot.
She was worried about the sudden increase in security, but Seo-yeon trusted Jaehoon and tried not to worry about it.
Seo-yeon quickly dressed Tae-yul and headed to Woojin Hospital in the car driven by Jae-moon.
Jia parked the car carrying Mi-ryung in the parking lot of Woojin Hospital. Mi-ryung came to the hospital with only Jia, leaving behind her secretary, Chief Cha, and even her driver.
She didn’t bring any outsiders because she didn’t know what condition Tae-yul was in.
“Great Aunt, the people I’ve assigned said that this is where the children’s psychology center is located. And there are no other patients at 11 o’clock, when Tae-yul receives treatment.”
“Don’t call him a patient. It’s unpleasant to hear.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Let’s get out. Are you sure Jaehoon isn’t here?”
“Yes, he has a meeting with executives at 10:30 today. I confirmed that he attended with a text message.”
“Did you say it was Assistant Jin?”
“Yes.”
Jia had painstakingly made Assistant Jin, one of the Vice Chairman’s secretaries, her ally.
“Make sure she’s well compensated. Those who betray their superiors can betray them at any time if they are not satisfied.”
“Yes, don’t worry.”
“Let’s go.”
As the two got out of the car and headed to the elevator, Mi-ryung overheard two nurses getting off the elevator.
“Cute.”
“Is he that cute?”
“I’ve never seen such a handsome kid. I wonder how cute his voice is.”
“Shh, be quiet.”
As the two women passed by, Mi-ryung stopped for a moment and turned her head halfway to look back.
‘His voice! I wonder if it’s cute.’
Mi-ryung repeated what the nurse had said in her mind and got on the elevator with Jia.
Tae-yul lined up stuffed dolls made in the shape of numbers. Every time Tae-yul placed a doll, Dr. Yang spoke to him from the side.
“Mom?”
Then Tae-yul smiled at Seo-yeon. She was so cute that she melted.
“Ah, Mom. Then you can call her Mom.”
Dr. Yang always created a positive situation where Tae-yul could open his mouth comfortably, always saying “You can say it” instead of “Call her Mom.”
“Then what about Dad?”
Dr. Yang asked again. Tae-yul looked around, then suddenly stood up and went to the window. Then he pointed out the window and said “Uh.”
“Oh, Dad works over there? He’s working hard to buy Tae-yul snacks.”
Dr. Yang clapped her hands and continued.
“Tae-yul, you can say Dad.”
She stroked Tae-yul’s head and said.
“It seems like he’ll open his mouth soon.”
Jae-moon, who had been watching quietly from the side, said to Seo-yeon.
“When I’m with him, I feel like I can hear Tae-yul’s voice. I feel like I’m having a conversation because I can see everything through his actions?”
Seo-yeon said in a faint voice, looking at Tae-yul. She watched Tae-yul take Dr. Yang’s hand and lead her to the bookshelf and got up.
At that moment, a commotion was heard from outside. Seo-yeon wondered what was going on, but she thought it was unrelated to them because it was inside the hospital.
Seo-yeon, who was smiling at Tae-yul, froze at the sound of Jia’s voice. Soon after, Mi-ryung’s heavy voice followed.
As Seo-yeon looked towards the door, Jae-moon blocked her.
“I’ll go out. I’ll send them back, so stay with Tae-yul.”
The quick-witted Dr. Yang gestured to an employee to turn up the volume of the nursery rhyme that was playing. As the exciting music played, Tae-yul blinked and clapped his hands.
Seo-yeon looked at Tae-yul, who was enjoying himself, and felt an uncontrollable anger rising. She couldn’t forgive Mi-ryung for interfering with her family’s happiness.
“No. Teacher, please stay here. Please contact Jaehoon.”
“Are you sure?”
“It’s okay.”
Seo-yeon went to Tae-yul and waved her hand with him.
“Our Tae-yul is excited. Mom will go wash her hands quickly and stay here with the teacher.”
“Uh-huh?”
“I’ll be right back.”
Tae-yul, who had a displeased look on his face, nodded when she said she would be right back. Seo-yeon hugged Tae-yul once and looked at Jae-moon. He was smiling.
“You two are definitely a couple. He’s on his way. He couldn’t stand it after watching the video. What video did you send?”
“The teeth brushing video. I knew he would come.”
“I knew it. I trust Seo-yeon. You know what to do if something happens, right?”
“Today, I need to make it clear to Madam that she can no longer touch our family.”
Seo-yeon spoke calmly without being nervous and left the treatment room. She saw Mi-ryung and Jia blocked at the entrance. In her eyes, the two looked like monsters trying to devour Tae-yul.
