Perfect Possession - Episode 42
“What the hell are you doing right now!”
“Did you decide to switch from the Grand Aunt to Vice President Seo?”
To Sung-joon, his family consisted only of his mother and the nanny who had taken care of him. He had never considered his father’s family, who were always abusive and contemptuous, as family.
And now, the only person he relied on and considered family was Jaehoon.
That’s why Sung-joon had Jia followed, even if it meant she might get hurt. It was none of his business.
Frankly, the photos of Jia and Mina meeting, which were sent a few days ago, made him rejoice. Anyone could see it was a clandestine meeting.
“W-What nonsense are you talking about?”
Jia’s gaze went to the photos on the table. If Sung-joon found out, it was only a matter of time before Jaehoon heard about it.
She ignored Sung-joon’s words and only thought about hiding the photos.
“Don’t you know why I’m asking? Vice Chairman Seo. ”
Sung-joon trailed off, following Jia’s gaze and turning his face to the table. At that moment, Jia lunged forward and grabbed the photos, hiding them behind her back.
But Sung-joon roughly grabbed her arm and snatched the photos away.
“Give them back!”
“What is this?”
Sung-joon suppressed the rushing Jia with one hand and stared intently at the photo with the Woojin Hospital logo. He turned to Jia with an incredulous look.
“You dare to tail Jaehoon hyung? You’ve gone completely insane. Do you think you’ll be safe after doing something like this?”
“What’s it to you? Oh, right. Since we’re on the subject, tell me. Why did the Vice Chairman go to the hospital? Isn’t it strange? There’s Do-young Hospital, but he goes to its rival, Woojin? No matter how I think about it, it’s weird.”
Sung-joon found Jia, whose pupils were floating between the whites of her eyes as if they were about to pop out, repulsive. He pushed her away, releasing her hand.
“Do you think these photos will do anything to Jaehoon hyung? But you should be nervous about these photos.”
Sung-joon threw the photos of Jia receiving something from Mina at the hotel cafe.
“Doesn’t the Grand Aunt hate this kind of thing?”
Jia screamed as she looked at the photos on the floor. She had felt like someone was watching her at the hotel, and the thought that Sung-joon had her followed made her unbearably angry.
She glared at Sung-joon with a terrifying face. Her hands trembled, and she gritted her teeth.
“What’s this? I can just go to the Grand Aunt and tell her the truth. You dirty bastard.”
Sung-joon’s heart still ached at the countless times he had heard that insult. But he would never show Jia his wounded self. He sneered at Jia and said,
“I don’t know who’s dirtier. Team Leader Han, wake up. Do I still look like a teenage boy to you? I don’t care what your family says.”
Sung-joon put the photos he had taken from Jia in his pocket and continued,
“Let’s make good use of each other’s photos. Go and wag your tail or beg the Grand Aunt. I have a meeting with the Vice Chairman, so I’ll be going.”
Sung-joon closed the door and left, ignoring Jia, who was shouting his name at the top of her lungs.
Outside, Sung-joon hurried towards the rooftop garden. He felt like he would die if he didn’t breathe in some fresh air right away.
It was during working hours, so there was no one in the rooftop garden. He took a deep breath and let out a short shout.
“Aaaargh!”
After that, the anger he had been holding back seemed to subside a little. Sung-joon took out the photos from his pocket. He had no obligation to hide these photos from Jaehoon for Jia’s sake.
Soon after, Sung-joon knocked on the Vice Chairman’s office door.
Jaehoon stood in front of the Do-young Art Hall Gallery in Samseong-dong. Mi-ryung was here at this time. She discovered new artists and bought their paintings at low prices, then sold them for a lot of money.
Just the fact that a painting was hung in the Do-young Gallery made its price skyrocket. Moreover, if the director herself had contacted the artist, everyone bought the painting without even asking who the artist was.
In other words, even in the world of pure art, there was a Do-young brand premium.
As he entered, the vice director approached him in surprise.
“How could you come without contacting me?”
“Is she inside?”
“Yes.”
“Don’t let anyone in. I don’t need tea either.”
“Yes? Ah, yes. I understand.”
Not planning to stay long, he headed straight to the director’s office with only Hyun-shik.
“Let’s meet at home in the afternoon.”
-Grand Aunt, I want to see you right now.
“I have a meeting with an artist. Why are you doing this?”
-I think I’ve found something out.
“What?”
Mi-ryung looked up from her phone at the sudden knock. Before she could even say come in, the door opened, and Jaehoon stood there with Hyun-shik.
“Let’s meet at home.”
Mi-ryung hung up on Jia and stared straight at Jaehoon. This was the first time he had appeared at the gallery. That meant something had happened that required him to meet her urgently.
Mi-ryung thought it must be about Seo-yeon or Tae-yul. She turned her gaze from Jaehoon to Hyun-shik.
“It seems like the reason you came here is a family matter, so tell Secretary Jung to leave.”
“Hyun-shik was the one who found Tae-yul with me, not you, Mother. Is there any reason to exclude Hyun-shik now and call it a family matter?”
“You found Tae-yul?”
Mi-ryung slowly repeated, not understanding what Jaehoon was saying.
“Because of you and her mother, as you know, the person who is no longer in this world, we found Tae-yul at the orphanage.”
Jaehoon clenched his teeth, remembering the dark expression Tae-yul had when he first saw him. He took a breath and said in one breath,
“Don’t try to find out anything by taking pictures like this!”
He scattered the hospital photos that Sung-joon had brought on Mi-ryung’s desk. Her gaze quickly went to the photos, and she picked one up.
“What is this?”
“Are you going to play dumb? Because of you, Mother, we almost lost our son. And now you’re lying to me in front of my face?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, but if a child’s mother loses her child, it’s because the mother abandoned him. Why is that my fault?”
Bang!
Mi-ryung’s shoulders flinched at the sound of the desk being slammed. Seeing Jaehoon’s rough side for the first time, Mi-ryung couldn’t take her surprised gaze away.
Jaehoon placed his hands on the desk and stared straight into Mi-ryung’s eyes.
“Who do you think provided the cause? Your belief that anything can be solved with money, Mother, is what made our son sick.”
“Sick?”
Mi-ryung looked at the photos again, recognized that it was Woojin Hospital, and looked at Jaehoon.
“Is he sick? Where does it hurt? Why did you take him to a place like this instead of Do-young?”
“Why would I take him to Woojin?”
Jaehoon straightened his body and spoke slowly. His stomach twisted and he felt nauseous at her seemingly worried tone.
“Don’t you understand what I’m saying? Then let me be clear. If you touch our family again, Mother, you will lose your son. Ah, I guess something like this wouldn’t have much of an impact on you, would it?”
He sneered at Mi-ryung, raising his lips.
“I don’t think you’ve forgotten, Mother, but let me remind you. The 5% of the shares that Grandfather left me, that belongs to my child. I’m just an agent. If I sell them all off, it will have some impact on you, Mother. Woojin is showing interest in buying Woojin shares as much as you are.”
Jaehoon turned around without changing his expression, even at Mi-ryung’s shocked expression.
“No!”
He stopped and turned around.
“What kind of shares are those that you’re handing over to Woojin? You have no right to do that. You and your son are all Do-young people!”
Jaehoon’s eyes flashed menacingly. Hyun-shik, who saw it, almost reached out to grab him as he tried to return to Mi-ryung.
“Do-young?”
Jaehoon’s suppressed voice was chilling.
“Don’t touch me before I crush everything.”
Jaehoon glared at Mi-ryung menacingly, said those words, and left the room.
Mi-ryung could only watch Jaehoon leave without saying a word. Her clenched hands trembled. She took a deep breath and tried to regain her composure.
“Hand over the shares? Crush? Who do they think they are? How did I get here?”
She muttered menacingly and turned her gaze back to the photos. Mi-ryung hadn’t ordered these photos to be taken, but she knew who had taken them.
Mi-ryung urgently called Jia, who had said she had something to tell her.
“Eung?”
Seo-yeon smiled, trying not to laugh as she watched Tae-yul tilt his head to the side, pointing at his diaper. If she laughed now, he would only try to wear his pants.
Come to think of it, Tae-yul’s ‘Eung?’ seemed to be a form of coquetry. Because she liked it and gave him everything he wanted, he would tilt his body to the side and say ‘Eung?’ whenever he wanted something.
As if to say, ‘Is it okay to do this?’
“I know you don’t want to wear a diaper, but you have to wear one to ride in the stroller. Or should we walk instead of riding in the stroller?”
Tae-yul liked walking, but he also liked riding in the stroller. Seo-yeon or Jaehoon pushed it, but he made cute cheering noises every time he went forward, as if he were pushing it himself.
Jaehoon, who liked the sound, took Tae-yul around in the stroller both outside and inside the house. As a result, the sound of the wheels rolling over the marble floor never stopped in the house.
At the suggestion of walking instead of the stroller, Tae-yul lay down on his back and grabbed his legs, lifting them up.
Seo-yeon and Ms. Kim couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
“He’s a very clever young master.”
“Jaehoon teases me that he’ll be sitting on top of Mom’s head when he turns two.”
“Really? I can already see the young master sitting on top of the Vice Chairman’s head.”
“Right? I’ll have to retort like that every time he teases me. All done.”
Seo-yeon skillfully put on the diaper and stood Tae-yul up.
“Let’s go out to the garden and ride in the stroller. Dad will be here soon too.”
“Eung?”
Tae-yul’s eyes widened at the word Dad. Seo-yeon hugged the lovely Tae-yul and went out to the garden. The afternoon was getting longer, and she could feel the seasons changing. It had been over a month since Tae-yul came home.
