Obsessive Love, The Possessive Real Young Lady - Chapter 68
Responding to the doorbell, Shen Jiayan heard Gao Wei say from outside the door, “Sister, open the door quickly.”
“I’m coming,” Shen Jiayan replied, opening the door.
Standing at the door was indeed Gao Wei, dressed in a pink casual outfit and wearing a baseball cap, looking particularly lively.
However, when she saw Fu Jing standing beside Gao Wei, holding a pile of gifts, the smile on Shen Jiayan’s face instantly vanished.
She warily pulled Gao Wei close and asked, “What are you doing here?”
Fu Jing also looked somewhat surprised, “A-Wei, is this the sister you were telling me about who has been taking care of you?”
“Yes,” Gao Wei linked her arm with Shen Jiayan’s. “Mom, this is the sister I mentioned to you. Gao Qiang has been taking care of me and staying with me all these years.”
Then, she changed the topic, asking with confusion, “But why do you two look like you already know each other?”
Fu Jing frowned slightly, staring at Gao Wei for a moment, then suddenly reached out and grabbed Gao Wei’s arm, pulling her close.
At this moment, she finally understood why Shen Wenshan had asked her to investigate Gao Wei, and why he had prevented Shen Shihao from donating bone marrow. It turned out that old fox had been using both his son and daughter as chess pieces.
Gao Wei was caught off guard and almost fell, only managing to steady herself by grabbing the wall.
She looked somewhat bewildered, “Mom, what’s wrong with you?”
But Fu Jing, uncharacteristically, ignored her and stared at Shen Jiayan, “I don’t care how you and Shen Wenshan fight, just don’t involve my daughter in it.”
Fu Jing’s tone was full of warning.
“Mom!” Gao Wei couldn’t help but cry out. “What is going on? I don’t understand what you two are talking about!”
Shen Jiayan let out a light laugh and was about to speak when Su Sui, standing behind her, interjected.
“Life is full of surprises. I didn’t expect this short lived ghost to be your daughter.”
Both Fu Jing and Shen Jiayan turned to look at Su Sui.
Su Sui’s lips curled into a faint, chilling smile, and she stared venomously at Fu Jing, “Fu Jing, I want to know, when you realized that the person you schemed to harm was your own daughter, did you feel any remorse?”
Hearing this, Fu Jing’s eyes immediately widened in anger, glaring at Su Sui as if she would devour her alive if she dared to say another word.
But Su Sui was unafraid, instead smirking coldly, “What? Did I guess correctly? What do they call it? Those who do evil deeds will inevitably bring ruin upon themselves.”
Fu Jing clenched her fists, gritting her teeth fiercely, but couldn’t utter a single word.
“Mom?” Gao Wei called out worriedly when Fu Jing fell silent, trying to ease her mother’s tension.
However, Fu Jing’s face remained tight, showing no signs of relaxation. She could only turn to Shen Jiayan, whose face was equally grim. “Sister, what exactly is going on?”
“What’s going on?” Shen Jiayan took a deep breath and said, “Four years ago, she nearly caused the deaths of me and Su Sui, blinding one of my eyes. The man who followed us that day was also acting on her orders.”
“H-how could that be?” Gao Wei shook her head in disbelief. “Sister, my mom… how could she do such a thing?”
She turned to Fu Jing, desperately seeking confirmation. “Mom, is there some misunderstanding? You didn’t do those things, right?”
Fu Jing closed her eyes, then opened them again, her gaze cold and sharp.
“I did it. So what? Aren’t they still alive and well?”
After speaking, Fu Jing looked at Shen Jiayan. “You remember this. From now on, we each go our own way, bridges are bridges, roads are roads, and we stay out of each other’s business! So, don’t use my daughter to gamble against that madman Shen Wenshan!”
She left these words, dropped the gifts, and pulled Gao Wei away.
Shen Jiayan stood rooted to the spot, watching their retreating figures for a long time without moving.
“Jiayan,” Su Sui walked up to her side and put an arm around her shoulder.
Shen Jiayan looked at Su Sui and said lightly, “Your crow’s mouth really did predict it. This isn’t a surprise; it’s terrifying.”
Su Sui reached out and pinched her cheek. “It’s okay, don’t dwell on it. Although Fu Jing is a sharp and mean person, compared to our own mother, she is much more responsible. This is good for Gao Wei, after all, given Fu Jing’s personality, even if she had to bind him, she would drag Shen Shihao into the operating room.”
Shen Jiayan sighed. “Let’s hope so. I just wish her illness would be cured soon.”
“Yes, it will be, definitely,” Su Sui squeezed her hand. “Don’t worry about Gao Wei anymore.”
Things indeed turned out as Su Sui predicted. Less than half a month after Fu Jing took Gao Wei and left, they received news of Fu Jing and Shen Wenhao’s divorce.
Shen Wenshan then publicly established his will, stating that upon his death, the Shen Group, including all assets, would be inherited by his nephew, Shen Shihao. His motive for doing this was nothing more than to continue using Shen Shihao’s bone marrow to control everyone.
However, these actions, in the eyes of Su Sui and Shen Jiayan, were already the last desperate struggles of a dying power. After all, with Su Sui continuously selling off major shares of the group, and her venture capital firm experiencing severe losses, the entire Shen Group had been dragged into the red, causing its stock price to plummet. Consequently, several companies under the Shen Group were declining, and recently, even salary payments had become chaotic.
Two months later.
Shen Wenshan’s Shen Group officially declared bankruptcy, and the news dominated national headlines. This event caused an uproar in M City. Everyone knew that the Shen Group was involved in real estate, jewelry, and other sectors. The Shen family was immensely wealthy, the foremost among the elite families. Yet, the entire Shen Group collapsed overnight, which was astonishing.
Simultaneously, all of the Shen family’s assets fell into Shen Jiayan’s hands. She became a legend in the M City business circle.
Su Sui sat in an armchair, flipping through a financial magazine. Shen Jiayan was perched on the edge of the sofa, one leg draped over the other, her ankle delicate and beautiful, exuding a captivating allure. “Why did you put all those assets under my name? I don’t know how to manage them.”
“They belonged to you in the first place. If not you, then who?” Su Sui closed the magazine and looked at her with immense affection.
Hearing this, Shen Jiayan was momentarily stunned, but quickly realized. Su Sui must have overheard her in the hospital corridor that day when she told Shen Wenshan she would ruin his Shen Group while in the hospital room. She must have kept that in mind for so long how hard she must have worked.
“Right,” Su Sui took her hand. “Do you still have the evidence Li Zhi gave you?”
Shen Jiayan was slightly taken aback. “What do you want the evidence for?”
“Naturally, to continue taking revenge on Shen Wenshan,” Su Sui raised an eyebrow. “Since he could be so ruthless back then, how could I possibly let him off so easily?”
Shen Jiayan let out a light laugh. “I almost forgot, you’ve always been a ruthless character.” She pursed her lips and lowered her head. “But the Shen family’s industries are ruined, and Shen Wenshan is also…”
She didn’t finish speaking, apparently deeming it inappropriate.
Su Sui did not press the issue, saying, “Never be soft-hearted toward an enemy, especially Shen Wenshan.”
In fact, compared to Shen Jiayan, Su Sui understood their father better. After the company went bankrupt and its assets were liquidated, Shen Wenshan did not repent. Instead, his mentality became even more twisted.
He first created public opinion online, claiming that Su Sui was an unfilial daughter who was instigated by Shen Jiayan to bankrupt his company. However, to his surprise, just one night later, Su Sui struck back by releasing Yang Xinjie’s diary, along with evidence of his tax evasion and hiring thugs for forced demolition and land seizure.
Shen Wenshan was subsequently placed under legal investigation by the police. On the eve of being taken to the police station for questioning, he posted the psychological evaluation report Su Sui had undergone abroad online.
Shen Jiayan stared at the words on the report in Shen Wenshan’s Weibo and murmured softly, “Stockholm Syndrome?”
She didn’t understand the meaning of this technical term and quickly looked it up online. The conclusion given online was vivid: Stockholm Syndrome, also called Hostage Identification Syndrome, refers to a victim in a criminal process developing feelings for the perpetrator.
This implied that she was the perpetrator, and Su Sui was the victim… Thinking of this, Shen Jiayan’s heart turned cold. The actions she had inflicted upon Su Sui over the years repeatedly cycled through her mind. Those actions now seemed disgusting, sordid, and utterly malicious. And Su Sui, under those circumstances, developed an attachment and feelings toward her out of self-protection.
When Su Sui came out of the washroom after showering, she found Shen Jiayan sitting on the bed, staring blankly at her phone. She walked up to her and wrapped her arms around her waist. “What’s wrong? Why are you suddenly so quiet tonight?”
Su Sui kissed her ear, her warm breath spraying against her skin, causing her to tremble.
“Su Sui,” Shen Jiayan turned to look at her, her eyes full of worry. “Do you really have Stockholm Syndrome?”
Su Sui froze for a moment, then quickly glanced at the screen, understanding what she was looking at. She snatched the phone and tossed it onto the table. “Stop looking.” She changed the subject. “Shen Wenshan is just thrashing around in desperation.”
“Answer my question!” Shen Jiayan gazed at her. “Is it true?”
Su Sui reached out and hugged her, burying her face in the crook of her neck, and groaned, “Yes.”
Her answer made Shen Jiayan even more silent. Su Sui could even sense that her entire body was tense.
After a long pause, Shen Jiayan seemed to find her voice. “I’m sorry. I apologize for my past behavior. You developed this psychological condition because of me.”
Su Sui looked up at her. She was wearing a silk pajama set, the buttons half-open, exposing a large expanse of skin.
“Silly girl, why apologize?” Su Sui cupped her face, her eyes filled with deep affection. “I never considered this illness to be a torment. On the contrary, I am very grateful for this illness. If it weren’t for this, I wouldn’t have lived to see today, I couldn’t have fallen in love with you, and I certainly couldn’t promise you with all my heart that I can love you for a lifetime.”
Su Sui added softly, “Like this, as long as you don’t change your mind, we can be together forever.”
With that, she pressed a kiss on the corner of her lips.
Shen Jiayan’s eyes immediately reddened. She hugged her, choking up, “I don’t need you to sacrifice this much for me, Su Sui, truly, I don’t.”
“You don’t need it, but I do. Besides, if I don’t sacrifice for you, would you bear to watch me sacrifice for someone else? Don’t be silly.”
Su Sui patted her back. “Be good, stop crying. Gao Wei goes into the operating room tomorrow. If your eyes are swollen from crying, that short lived ghost will be giving me dirty looks again.”
