Obsessive Love, The Possessive Real Young Lady - Chapter 37
“Transferring hospitals?” Shen Jiayan stopped in her tracks. “We didn’t request a transfer.”
The nurse looked at her strangely. “How come? It was your family members who requested the transfer.”
“When did we say we wanted to transfer?” Shen Jiayan frowned.
“This morning,” the nurse replied. “It was that woman who came with you last time. Oh yes, she said her surname was Su.”
When the name Su Sui hit Shen Jiayan’s ears, she could no longer hear anything. Her mind was consumed with thoughts of that lunatic what was she trying to do?
Why would she arrange for Gao Wei to be transferred?
What was her objective?
Was she trying to use Gao Wei to threaten her into going back?
No! Absolutely not! Su Sui wouldn’t get her way!
“Nurse, there must be a mistake. We are not transferring,” Shen Jiayan said, then turned and ran back. She left the nurse muttering to herself.
Gao Wei’s ward was on the 11th floor.
The inpatient department was crowded with people coming and going. She waited at the first floor for a long time, but the elevator didn’t come down. She looked at the time, then at the emergency exit, and decided to take the stairs.
Just as she stepped into the stairwell.
Ding-dong The elevator doors opened.
Su Sui was pushing Gao Wei out.
Gao Wei’s face was tense. Forget resisting; she didn’t even dare to look at Su Sui.
Moreover, what Su Sui said wasn’t wrong. She didn’t want to burden Shen Jiayan to death.
But… what exactly did Su Sui want to do?
Gao Wei couldn’t figure it out. She only knew that if Su Sui intended to harm Shen Jiayan, she would have to fight with all her might to protect her.
She was pushed to the parking lot by Su Sui.
Gazing at the luxurious, high end, and imposing Lincoln Navigator before her, Gao Wei’s eyes went wide.
“That car must be very expensive.”
Su Sui ignored her, just opened the car door. “Can you get in by yourself?”
“I can,” Gao Wei stood up with all her strength. “See? I’m fine.”
Seeing that Su Sui paid her no mind, she could only let out a dry laugh, glanced behind her, carefully hid the guilt in her eyes, and got into the car.
When Su Sui folded the wheelchair and put it in the trunk, and got back into the driver’s seat, Gao Wei asked, “Um, can I ask, where are you taking me?”
Su Sui looked in the rearview mirror and reversed the car. “The Shen family in M City.”
The Shen family in M City?!
A memory of the night Shen Jiayan was held hostage suddenly flashed through Gao Wei’s mind.
How could she forget? Shen Jiayan was the daughter of a real estate tycoon in M City, even if she was a fake one.
Right, the real daughter’s surname was also Su…
Thinking this, she couldn’t help but look up at Su Sui, who was driving.
“Have you looked enough?” Su Sui’s indifferent gaze swept over her.
“Don’t mind me, I just thought you were too beautiful, so I couldn’t help but look a little longer,” Gao Wei explained dryly, quickly averting her eyes.
Su Sui glanced at her and remained silent.
Seeing this, Gao Wei tentatively asked again, “Um, can I ask, what exactly is going on between you and my sister?”
Su Sui still ignored her.
“Actually,” Gao Wei pursed her lips, then said in a relaxed tone, “My sister always mentions you.”
“Mentions me?” Su Sui glanced at her. “Since she mentions me so often, you should know the relationship between me and her? No wonder Jiayan has gotten stupid; she must have caught it from you.”
“I…”
Gao Wei was speechless.
Shen Jiayan had indeed never mentioned Su Sui, nor had she brought up the past. She knew that was an indelible scar on Shen Jiayan’s heart, one she would never ask about. That was why, when she said she wanted to leave M City, Gao Wei had proactively invited her along, and Shen Jiayan had agreed without hesitation. Returning to M City now, back to that cold and utterly emotionless Shen family, would undoubtedly bring back painful memories for Shen Jiayan.
“Can we not go back?” Gao Wei said softly. “Although I don’t know what happened between you two, or what your entanglement is, my sister and I have relied on each other for three years. I know she doesn’t like that place. Don’t make her go back.”
She paused and added, “We can change cities. How about L City? I think it’s quite nice there. It has mountains and water. Distinct seasons…”
“Do you think I’m taking you on a tour?” Su Sui interrupted her coldly. “M City has the best cancer hospital in the country. You must know that. Besides, that is her home. She grew up there, she lived there for 24 years. By what right do you say she doesn’t like it?!”
“Of course I know,” Gao Wei said. “But… but I don’t want my sister to go back there. She suffered there. You should know better than me whether she was happy there or not, right?”
Su Sui looked at Gao Wei, then fell silent. The silence was long, so long that Gao Wei thought she wouldn’t be acknowledged again.
Unexpectedly, Su Sui suddenly spoke: “Do you know that I wanted to kill you just now?”
“I know,” Gao Wei blinked. “Look, but I’m still alive and well, aren’t I?”
“Aren’t you afraid?”
“I am afraid. Who isn’t afraid of death?” As she spoke, her voice deepened slightly. “But I am more afraid that my sister will be unhappy.”
She turned sideways, lowered the car window, and looked out at the scenery.
Su Sui cast a disdainful glance at her. To compare the mere three years with the eighteen years she had shared weal and woe with them was simply wishful thinking.
Thinking this, she stomped on the accelerator, and the car’s speed suddenly increased.
Gao Wei’s shriek was heard in her ears, “Damn it!! My wig! My wig!! Stop the car!!”
Su Sui paid her no mind.
She sped along, weaving through the traffic. Gao Wei was so anxious she wanted to open the door and jump out.
Su Sui immediately slammed on the brakes and grabbed the hand that was reaching for the seatbelt release. “Are you crazy?! Is a wig worth all this??”
“It is worth it!” Gao Wei, with a flushed face, shouted excitedly at Su Sui, “What do you know! That wig was made from the hair of the children from the welfare home, the director mom, and my sister!! Of course, it’s worth it!”
Saying that, she pushed the car door open and ran out, heading against the traffic flow to search for the red wig.
Su Sui froze in the car, her expression dark and grim. So that was why Shen Jiayan had dyed her hair red.
“Heh…” Su Sui let out a cold laugh, her gaze falling on Gao Wei, who was amidst the traffic. “Good, very good.”
Gao Wei, Shen Jiayan. You two are truly something else.
Her gaze deepened, and the corners of her lips gradually curved into a cold smile.
On the other side, Gao Wei was following the traffic flow, searching for the wig, heartbroken. That was all the love everyone had given her, her most precious treasure!
Beep Beep! The sound of a horn blared. Gao Wei was startled and dodged in a panic. Unexpectedly, her right arm was bumped, causing her to lose her balance and lean dangerously close to falling onto the ground.
Su Sui grabbed her wrist. “What a reckless short-lived ghost. Go back to the car and wait.”
Saying this, she pulled Gao Wei back to the driver’s seat and fastened her seatbelt for her.
When she was back in the driver’s seat, Su Sui held a red wig in her hand.
“Th… ” Gao Wei’s “thank you” was cut short as she watched Su Sui tuck her wig into the car door compartment, showing no intention of returning it to her.
“That’s mine!”
“Such a precious item, I will keep it safe for you for now,” Su Sui said, then locked the doors and started the car again.
Meanwhile, Shen Jiayan sat in Gao Wei’s small red car, constantly calling Gao Wei’s phone. Unsurprisingly, every call was met with the cold response, “Sorry, the number you have dialed is switched off.”
She was so angry she felt like smashing her phone. Heaven knew how much she wanted to pin Su Sui to the ground and beat her preferably with a whip until she bled when she finally managed to climb all the way up to the 11th floor and saw the note left on the hospital bed.
“Crazy lunatic, pervert!! Argh!!” Shen Jiayan couldn’t help but roar. “What do I owe you!! Why are you disturbing my peaceful life! Why?!”
Her eyes were crimson, a mixture of anger, grief, hatred, and various negative emotions, pushing her to the verge of collapse.
“Why are you forcing me to go back! Why?!” Her voice was hoarse, her pain tearing. Tears streamed down her cheeks.
Her mind was filled with the ugly face of Shen Wenshan. She closed her eyes, covered her face with her hand, and let the tears drip through her fingers. “Su Sui!! You just wait for me!!”
As she finished speaking, she grabbed the steering wheel and drove off, chasing the direction Su Sui had taken.
Shen Jiayan drove continuously all night until 9 AM the next day. She was back in the familiar city once again. Looking at the familiar scenery outside the window, her mood was extremely complex. This was where she grew up, where she spent her happy childhood, her impressionable years, and her first crush. Now, it had become the place she despised and hated the most.
Shen Jiayan’s gaze swept over the towering office buildings, finally settling on the hospital sign.
She got out of the car and walked straight into the hospital’s inpatient department.
The nurse at the front desk was slightly stunned when she saw her, but still politely asked, “May I help you?”
“Excuse me, is there a patient named Gao Wei?” As she spoke, her eyes scanned the surroundings, and she spotted Su Sui’s silhouette at the end of the corridor.
She hurried forward, grabbed Su Sui, and dragged her into the nearest empty ward.
Shen Jiayan pressed Su Sui hard against the wall and delivered a fierce slap!
“Why are you doing this? What exactly do you want?!” Shen Jiayan’s emotions were on the brink of explosion; she glared intensely at Su Sui.
But Su Sui’s expression remained indifferent, as if she hadn’t felt the flames erupting from Shen Jiayan. She raised her hand, gently brushed a stray hair from her nose, and spoke in a gentle tone.
“What do you think? Three years, a full three years and six months. How could you be so cruel? Do you know how tormented I was during those days? I finally found you. But you just said you didn’t want me, that you hated me. What could I do?”
Su Sui’s words sounded like an accusation, a complaint, and even an expression of grievance. Hearing this, Shen Jiayan frowned, feeling only restless and wishing to leave quickly. She released her grip on Su Sui. “That’s your business. It has nothing to do with me.” She turned to leave with Gao Wei.
“Shen Jiayan!” Su Sui called out.
Shen Jiayan paused.
“You clearly know that M City has the equipment and medical resources Gao Wei needs most, yet you’d rather hide in a seaside town than set foot here,” Su Sui said, taking a deep breath. “Is this what you call ‘unwavering commitment’?”
