Obsessive Love, The Possessive Real Young Lady - Chapter 18
The hospital corridor was bustling with people, yet at this moment, it was strangely quiet, so silent that Shen Jiayan was a little frightened.
She nervously clutched the corner of her clothes, holding her breath as she looked at Shen Wenshan, hoping to hear the answer she longed for: “Silly girl, you are your father’s daughter, how could I not like you?”
But reality was often terrifyingly cruel.
Shen Wenshan coldly shifted his gaze away: “No reason.”
The simple four words tore a hole in Shen Jiayan’s heart. The pain spread throughout her body like a vine, instantly chilling her blood.
It turned out that not only did he not like her, but he disliked her for no reason at all.
Shen Jiayan’s breath hitched. She bit her lip and silently lowered her head: “Then if that’s the case, why did you let Mom give birth to me?”
When she looked up again, her eyes were red and wet: “Back then, when you knew Mom was pregnant, you should have aborted me! Why did you let her give birth to me!!”
Her words seemed to awaken Shen Wenshan’s most painful memories.
The woman he loved to the bone Yang Xinjie.
She never said she loved him, even until her death.
Her heart only held her deceased childhood sweetheart, and in Yang Xinjie’s eyes, his status was even inferior to that of his crippled eldest brother…
If it hadn’t been for getting pregnant after a drunken mistake, with Yang Xinjie’s proud personality, she probably would have rather died than marry him.
When he held the newborn baby, he couldn’t find a trace of himself in the child’s features.
As the child grew up, the rumors became more and more frequent. The most common one was that Yang Xinjie agreed to marry him just to find a scapegoat.
He had tried to believe her, so he suggested a paternity test.
But Yang Xinjie said: “I don’t need a flimsy piece of paper to prove my innocence. If you don’t believe me, we can divorce, and I will take Jiayan with me.”
She felt guilty, and even wanted to leave him…
Simply wishful thinking!
He wanted to make Yang Xinjie suffer the punishment she deserved. She wanted to leave, so he personally clipped her wings and ruined her retreat.
To make her stay by his side forever and ever.
But she actually chose to be with the man she loved the most through self-harm.
“Enough!” Shen Wenshan clenched his fists, his face growing darker, his brows furrowed, and his tone carrying a hint of anger: “You shameful thing!”
Shen Jiayan bit her lip and didn’t utter a sound, stubbornly looking at Shen Wenshan without the slightest retreat.
Shen Wenshan’s chest rose and fell rapidly, seemingly having suppressed his emotions to the extreme: “Instead of wasting your time asking me such pointless questions, you should spend more effort trying to please Zhang Xiujie. At least that would justify you calling me Dad!”
After he finished speaking, he stood up, leaving Shen Jiayan with a terrifyingly cold look.
That gaze was like a sharp blade slicing across Shen Jiayan’s skin, cutting her skin, bloody and shocking.
Shen Jiayan’s heart trembled, and she instinctively wanted to cry.
But in just one second, she regained her composure, stood up straight, and shouted at Shen Wenshan’s receding back: “Shen Wenshan, your plan is wrong, I am not your commodity! I wasn’t before, I’m not now, and I won’t be in the future! I will definitely take back everything that belongs to me, and then destroy it with my own hands!”
After Shen Jiayan finished speaking, she turned and walked away in the opposite direction. Just as she lifted her foot, the door of the ward was pushed open.
Su Sui leaned against the doorframe, staring thoughtfully in the direction she had disappeared.
Does she want to destroy the Shen Group?
That’s a pretty good idea.
Shen Jiayan left the inpatient department, planning to go to the car for a smoke to relieve the frustration in her heart.
She had only walked a few steps into the underground parking lot when she saw a nurse talking surreptitiously outside Shen Shihao’s car.
Shen Jiayan was not far away, but was able to shield herself perfectly.
She looked at the side profile of the nurse’s face and thought she looked familiar. After searching her mind for a while, she realized the nurse resembled the one who had drawn blood from Su Sui not long ago.
Shen Jiayan usually didn’t pay much attention to the appearance and clothing of strangers, but the nurse who had injected Su Sui had done it several times, which made her want to lose her temper on the spot, thus catching her attention.
And the familiar nurse in front of her happened to be with Shen Shihao, which inevitably made her suspicious.
Shen Jiayan squinted her eyes and quietly moved closer.
Fortunately, the parking lot was spacious, and she could hear their conversation if she got a little closer.
Shen Shihao: “Are you sure this was drawn from that woman named Su?”
Nurse: “I almost got caught by the head nurse trying to draw this bit of blood for you. If you doubt me, give it back.”
As she spoke, she reached out to snatch it.
Shen Shihao quickly pulled back the blood sample tube, turned around, and handed her a thick red envelope: “Remember, don’t tell anyone about this.”
After they exchanged a few more irrelevant words, Shen Shihao drove away.
Shen Jiayan waited for the nurse to walk away before slowly emerging.
What does Shen Shihao want Su Sui’s blood sample for?
What are he and Fu Jing plotting?
She considered every possibility but couldn’t figure out what secret could be hidden within.
Instead, she felt an unease, as if she was in a whirlpool. It was as if her entire heart was suspended in mid-air, about to fall at any moment.
Shen Jiayan took a deep breath. She had to investigate this matter, otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to rest.
Shen Jiayan tried to dispel the unease from her mind, smoked a few cigarettes in the car, and then returned to the ward to find Su Sui.
It was strange to say, Shen Jiayan never liked staying in the hospital. When she was injured and hospitalized by Shen Wenshan and Fu Jing, she would ask Su Sui several times a day: “When can I be discharged?”
Now, after spending nearly half a month in the hospital with Su Sui, it didn’t feel as uncomfortable as before.
Instead, Su Sui was the one who was getting restless.
Although she didn’t fuss every day about when she could be discharged like Shen Jiayan, her eyes were constantly looking out the window, like a bird that had been caged for too long, longing for freedom.
Shen Jiayan swallowed the last bite of food in the lunch box and tapped the bowl in front of Su Sui with her chopsticks: “Stop looking, the doctor said you can be discharged tomorrow.”
Su Sui pursed her lips: “Mhm.” She lowered her eyes, her eyelashes fluttering like two small fans.
Her superficial injuries were mostly healed, at least on the surface, she didn’t look as terrible anymore. Only her long, straight leg would take some time to recover.
The doctor said it was a comminuted fracture caused by jumping out of the car, and more than ten steel pins had to be used.
Shen Jiayan felt pain just hearing it, and it was even harder to imagine if she would be as desperate as Su Sui if she encountered the same situation.
Fortunately, the police had caught the scoundrels who attempted to harm Su Sui. Although they were caught, they couldn’t get any useful information from them.
Those thugs insisted that they acted upon seeing Su Sui and that they were not instructed by anyone.
But she firmly believed that these people were the same group as those who had followed them that day.
But why did they change their target to Su Sui?
Strange, just as strange as Shen Shihao and his mother.
Upon closer thought, the mysteries surrounding her were increasing, multiplying like an impenetrable net, making it hard for her to breathe.
Shen Jiayan sighed, put down her bowl, and stood up: “You hurry up and eat, and I’ll push you out to get some sun afterward.”
Su Sui obediently replied: “Okay.”
A moment later.
Shen Jiayan pushed Su Sui out of the ward and into the hospital garden to soak up the sun.
The environment here was excellent. The lawn had just been trimmed, and the air was filled with the scent of fresh grass. The trees offered dense shade, and the surrounding greenery was particularly lush.
Occasionally, one could hear the chirping of insects from the bushes.
The sun was warm and felt cozy on the skin. Shen Jiayan couldn’t help but close her eyes and enjoy the pleasant moment.
“How about we just sunbathe here?” Su Sui suggested.
“No need.” Shen Jiayan continued to push her: “It’s not good for your eyes.”
Su Sui didn’t understand, but soon she was pushed to a shaded spot under a tree, where mottled shadows constantly swayed on the ground.
“Here.” Shen Jiayan said.
Her vision was obscured by a beautifully packaged book.
The title on the book read Fate.
This was the fifth book Shen Jiayan had given her.
Shen Jiayan looked at her for a long time, and when Su Sui still hadn’t taken it, she felt a little disappointed: “Don’t you like it?”
“I like it.” Su Sui quickly took it and placed it on her lap.
“I saw that you finished those books, and I happened to pass by a bookstore yesterday when I went to the supermarket. So I bought you another one.”
As Shen Jiayan spoke, she sat on the ground, leaning her head naturally on Su Sui’s leg.
“Thank you…”
“It’s nothing.” Shen Jiayan waved her hand: “You read your book, and I’ll sit here and enjoy the view.”
“Okay.”
Su Sui sat in the chair, quietly gazing at Shen Jiayan. Her eyes were soft, like a pool of spring water, comforting to the heart.
Happened to pass by…
The nearest bookstore required a thirty-minute drive. How could it be a coincidence?
A gentle breeze blew, lifting Shen Jiayan’s long hair, which happened to fall onto the book’s cover.
Su Sui lightly pinched that strand of long hair, slowly leaned down, and kissed it.
Shen Jiayan, you like me too, don’t you?
She slightly curled her lips, her eyes and brows filled with a blissful smile.
When she looked at Shen Jiayan again, her eyes flowed with touching tenderness, as if a brilliant galaxy was sparkling within.
Su Sui gently lowered her gaze, concealing the complicated emotions flowing in her eyes, and opened the book.
Shen Jiayan was still leaning against her, but her eyes curved like a crescent moon hanging high in the night sky, staring intently at the two figures projected onto the ground.
This scene looked unusually harmonious and beautiful.
But in a corner nearby, someone was holding a phone, snapping several continuous photos.
“Mom, I truly don’t understand you. Since the paternity test results are already out, you could just give them to Uncle directly. Why are you squatting here taking these pictures? What’s the point?”
Fu Jing turned around and glared at Shen Shihao, her eyes filled with obvious disdain.
Why was she taking pictures?
Of course, to use against the real Shen family’s daughter, Su Sui!!
