My Wife Became a Top Star After I Came Back from Quick Transmigration - Chapter 8
How could Su Qixi not know that people should look forward? But a simple phrase that takes only two seconds to say is so incredibly hard to do.
After her confession during the college entrance exams, Lin Mo disappeared. She never went back to her little rented room, and yet Su Qixi’s life seemed to take off.
She was accepted into her dream university with a full tuition waiver.
Teacher Hao Tianhua helped her move her household registration, allowing her to break free from her family.
To take care of her, the school placed her in the same dorm room as Yimei’er. Yimei’er’s parents were both in the entertainment industry, and though she hadn’t debuted yet, she had a lot of connections.
To earn some living money, Su Qixi followed Yimei’er’s lead and entered the entertainment industry. She became an overnight sensation, with her career sailing smoothly.
Two years ago, she ended her five-year contract with her old company on good terms. She and her best friend Yimei’er invested the money she had earned into a new movie, with Su Qixi as the lead.
When the movie was released this year, she was just hoping to make a small profit, but it became a huge hit.
From then on, with enough money that she didn’t have to work, it seemed her life was perfect, with no regrets.
She had moved forward, and every step she took was beautiful, just as she had promised Lin Mo when they were lying in the rented room, watching the stars twinkling outside the window.
“Lin Mo, I’ll make a lot of money and support you someday.”
“Okay, I’ll wait for you.”
The cool night breeze stirred a lot of feelings in Su Qixi’s heart. Was a secret crush painful? No. Every day back then felt so wonderfully unreal.
Tao Shu: “Is it easy to make money in the entertainment industry?”
Tao Shu’s curious voice pulled Su Qixi out of her memories. A sudden flash of frustration made her stomp on Lin Mo’s foot. Lin Mo hissed in pain, and Su Qixi covered her mouth, saying, “Oops, my bad.”
Lin Mo just smiled. “…It’s okay.” Did I do something to upset her just now?
Su Qixi smiled back, then turned to Tao Shu. “It’s easy, but it’s also hard. There are so many traps. If you have bad luck, you might spend your whole life working for a company to pay off debt.”
“Newcomers are always impatient for success, and the conditions companies offer are often tempting. But behind those conditions are carefully designed loopholes created by top-tier professionals. It’s hard for ordinary people to spot them, and if you’re not careful, you could end up millions in debt.”
Tao Shu immediately lost her envy. After all, not everyone was Su Qixi. Besides, Su Qixi was genuinely beautiful, so it was no surprise that she became famous.
Seeing that Hao Tianhua and Tao Shu had brought up the entertainment industry, the other classmates couldn’t help but ask Su Qixi about things inside the industry.
Su Qixi shared some harmless and interesting anecdotes and promised to get autographs from some of her classmates’ idols.
Lin Mo was quiet the whole time, occasionally helping Su Qixi by getting some food for her or peeling a shrimp. Su Qixi accepted everything without a word.
The whole night was filled with good food and conversation.
Around 10 p.m., everyone was a little tipsy and began to say their goodbyes, promising to meet again next year.
Lin Mo was the first to help Hao Tianhua outside. She explained to everyone, “Teacher is getting old. I’ve called a car to take him home first.”
Everyone agreed, assuming the two had something to talk about.
Indeed, once they were out of the private room, Hao Tianhua quietly asked Lin Mo, “Why didn’t you tell her? You were the one who figured out how to move her household registration, and you were the one who paid her university fees in advance.”
Lin Mo gave a gentle smile. “My situation is a bit complicated right now. Besides, if I tell her now, it will look like I’m trying to hold it over her.”
Hao Tianhua sighed. “You didn’t keep a single cent of that 200,000 yuan for yourself. If you explain everything, she won’t be mad at you anymore.”
Lin Mo said, “Eight years is a long time. I don’t know what she’s thinking now. That youthful affection might not be what she needs after everything she’s been through. Telling her now would just let those events influence her. I hope that when she accepts me, it won’t be because she feels indebted.”
“Sigh.” Hao Tianhua sighed again. “So where were you for these eight years? Don’t give me that fishing story.”
Lin Mo couldn’t bring herself to deceive the teacher who had helped her so much, but if Su Qixi didn’t believe her, how could she expect anyone else to? Besides, she was willing to tell Su Qixi, but not everyone else.
So, she fell back on the story the system gave her: “I was trying to start a business. It failed, and I was too embarrassed to come back.”
Hao Tianhua looked at Lin Mo and finally patted her hand. Before getting in the car, he looked at her and said, “I don’t believe you’re that kind of person.”
Lin Mo was touched by her teacher’s trust.
Hao Tianhua continued, “You’re not that easily embarrassed.”
Lin Mo: “…Teacher, please sit tight. Driver, please take him to this address.”
“Hey, I wasn’t finished!”
“It’s getting late. You should hurry home! Your wife must be worried.”
Hao Tianhua: “…”
After the car left, Lin Mo noticed that the reporters from the afternoon were still there. She couldn’t help but feel that some people were really dedicated.
As soon as the car drove off, the reporters swarmed Lin Mo.
“Hello, are you Ms. Pig?”
A bunch of microphones were shoved so close they almost touched Lin Mo’s mouth.
Lin Mo had to lean back. She laughed and said, “Everyone, please step back. I’m about to be squeezed out of this space.”
The reporters backed away, showing they still had some sense.
It was a time of year when the days were hot, but the nights were already cool. Tonight, there was even a fine mist of rain, and the wind, laced with moisture, made it a little cold after standing there for a while.
The reporters were cooled down and no longer in a hurry. They just surrounded Lin Mo, waiting for her answers.
Lin Mo: “My last name is Lin, not Pig.”
Reporter 1: “How do you know Su Qixi?”
Lin Mo: “You’ll have to ask her. It’s not my place to answer for her.”
Reporter 2: “So, what is your relationship?”
Lin Mo sighed, “Today is a class reunion, isn’t it? I thought the answer was quite clear.”
The reporters chuckled, finding Lin Mo humorous and growing to like her. Their questions became less aggressive. Lin Mo answered almost every question, but her responses were very clever.
It was as if she had answered, and yet nothing was said.
Soon, the other classmates and teachers came out.
Su Qixi also left the hotel with Xiong Jingjing and Bai Jin. When she saw Lin Mo surrounded by reporters, she frowned and said to them, “She’s just a regular person; she’s not doing any interviews.”
Xiong Jingjing was afraid Su Qixi’s words would come across too harshly, so she took over. “We’re just here for a class reunion, and we don’t want to cause any trouble for our classmates. We hope you can understand. We know you’ve been waiting for a long time, so I’ve arranged with the hotel manager for all of you to go inside and eat. It’s on me.”
Xiong Jingjing was good at handling people and was always generous. The reporters had received help from her before, so even though they wanted to continue the interview, they could see that Lin Mo was tired and that her replies were dodging their questions. Su Qixi also looked annoyed, so there wouldn’t be any result from interviewing her. They accepted Xiong Jingjing’s offer and went in to eat.
After all, they had their photos and had asked their questions.
Su Qixi then looked at the remaining fans. “It’s getting late. You should all go home. It’s not safe when it’s dark, so please take a cab.”
The fans were so touched by Su Qixi’s words that they screamed in excitement and then obediently left.
Only a girl named Su Tiantian remained, hiding in the distance. Lin Mo saw her and was surprised.
Su Qixi noticed this immediately. She had seen the two of them together earlier. Eight years and 2,920 days had passed, so it wasn’t strange for Lin Mo to have someone with her.
Su Qixi gritted her teeth: This person said she wanted to pursue me, but she brought a girl with her.
“Who is she?” Su Qixi asked Lin Mo in a cold voice.
Lin Mo looked at Su Qixi in surprise. “Isn’t she one of your fan club leaders?”
Su Qixi: “…Now that you mention it… she does look familiar.”
